The two that I know of are Isle of Janthir and Sea of Sorrows, but that was when Gw2 first came out so I don’t know if it’s moved onto other servers.

There are still alot of Oceanic members in Sea of Sorrows.

I’m pretty sure that JQ and BG (and soon SOR) are equally capable of taking the number 1 spot, you underestimate them. You greatly exaggerate the disparity in competitive population coverage among these servers. Your idealism is misplaced and your assumptions are unrealistic.

Recruitment is a military strategy. We aren’t denying others of doing the same and thus viewing it negatively is nothing but an opinion by the losing team.

You still don’t understand that you are killing EVERY aspect of the game on lower populated servers, not just WvW, don’t you?

Pointing fingers at entire servers does nothing. Nobody on those servers really care. Take it up with Anet. They are the professionals who designed the game this way.

What BL? I see them plenty in SoS BL and I play 10 hours a week max.

Might be it. I play 90+% EB. Only play on a BL when Im asked to do so by a commander or identify some issues or potential weakness in a borderland that needs addressing, or if the queue time for EB is too long.

At level 22, wouldn’t you have all the rings/backpieces you need? Just asking. I have all I need at level 15 and not sure why you would still need to share them with other players at level 22.

There are some really neat Exotics, so I’m probably going to aim for one of those rather than a Legendary. The requirements suit the amount of time I have as well, so they’re more realistic for me to work towards.

In terms of effort vs reward, I’d argue that the amount of effort required to earn one Legendary could well outstrip that needed to earn an Exotic and an Ascended weapon (to upgrade its stats). We don’t know yet, naturally, but it’s I don’t think it’s an unreasonable speculation.

Which is a fair point. There is also the fact that legendaries seem overly keen on critical damage. As a necromancer main, legendarys are currently less appealing, because precision/critical damage does not work with the build I use.

A legendary should not be random luck. It should be 100% something you work hard for. Some have to work 500x harder to get what they want, thanks to RNG.

Sucks to have JQ not far behind. I want to farm FotM but I have an obligation to keep the WvW in check!

Ascended items will be purchaseable with Laurels. This was in a recent announcement. When and what will be purchaseable is not known. We have no official word when more of the ascended gear will be included, saying end of January would be a sound guess.

I suggest you try playing fractals. A complete Ascended is completely acheiveable for anyone who plays 10 hours a week, in a short period of time. 10 pristine fractal relics will get you one ring. You get 1 per day. Then there is a decent chance to get them as drops as well. On average, for someone who plays with FoTM each day, you will get at least 1 ascended item a week. And then you can buy more with other stuff you get. Maybe our definitions of “dedicated player” are different, but for me this takes up only a very small portion of my GW2 playing time.

EDIT: Oand achievement points (laurels) will be used to purchase ascended gear, starting next week.

Just to point out, fractal levels are soulbound, not account bound.

Exotics will be superseded by new gear. Legendarys will not. Forging an exotic will be forging an item that you are going to have to replace if you want the best stats. I came across the same issue as I really want the Tri Forge Pendant, but its labelled as an exotic, suggesting it eventually will be worse than alternatives and vendor trash. Considering its cost, I won’t get it.

Talk to the server WvW leadership. Find out if any blackouts will be held soon. All current T1 servers have had multiple blackouts to get people in recently.

I have no experience levelling through WvW. I have 5 80s and a 45. As a predominantly WvW player now, my one farm for the the day is the Fractals of the Mist daily. It gives decent rewards and a fair bit of XP. Plus your upscaled to level 80 and your farming fractal relics and pristine relics, which provide a number of ascended items which give the best stats overall for their slot (and more of these will be added in the future).

Without experience in levelling through WvW, I can’t really say. But my impression is you do get alot of XP at level 80 compared to other PvE events. Honestly, if I were you, Id farm fractals once a day and find anything you can do in WvW. Im pretty sure you will level fairly quickly. Make sure you get your dailys up. Follow the zerg to capture points, repair walls, escort doylaks, flip quaggans/dredge/hylek etc etc. Rewards for WvW are pretty low, but I think XP is the one thing that is up to scratch at present.

Basically, can you build one and stick it in your camp/keep and not have it despawn. Or does it have to be used every so often or face it despawning?

How often do you see a zerg stacking vulnerability on it? I think its fine as is atm… because nobody seems to understand the mechanic. I have flipped camps like this solo without using vunerability, but it takes a long time :p Once people catch on, I think it might need some tweaks.

Larger worlds? PvDoor sounds really intense.

From my experience and from what I have seen, 1 mystic clover recipe will get your clovers up quicker. 10 will get you more T6 mats, which your going to need anyway, but take more obsidian shards.

I know the video, but thats not what happened. The other group realised they were chasing and were called back, which is what they should have done, but should have done earlier. A larger group shouldn’t waste their time with a smaller group, which is something commanders are trying to promote in all tiers from what I have seen.

Just going to point out that “the SOS zerg” that moves around equates to less than half the SOS players on the server. There are alot of players in back play who are setting up defensive and offensive siege, flipping hylek/dredge, repairing walls, scouting, roaming solo to capture points etc etc. I dont really know if JQ or BG are “full zergs” like the OP mentions, but I doubt it because I reguarly run into small groups working together. In complete honesty, this thread sounds more like QQ than an actual reflection of reality.

I think Warriors get a bad run. There are some really good warriors out there, but the majority don’t build and play them right.

Necromancers, IMO are the strongest overall class in WvW. But I also think the majority of Necros build them wrong. I can solo any class and as a Necro main I am never concerned with 1v1ing a thief or Elementalist for flags. Their AoE spells right now are pretty devestating in zerg vs zerg as you can cripple, blind fear, poison and frost the entire zerg. They have the best support abilities, they can remove all conditions and apply multiple AoE heals and they can pull players off walls as well as hit them hard with marks to relieve siege. I think Necros will be one of the hard hit ones during the upcoming AoE nerfs though.

To me, Elementalists and Thiefs fill the same rolls. Except Eles can protect siege during a counter seige, making them a little more useful. You could argue that thiefs provide the offensive role in a counter siege situation, but even good thiefs get dunked when they have to hit out marks layed all around the siege and then get eaten by the zerg.

Mesmers provide very specific roles in the game that all other classes could only dream of. Portal bombing is a thing for a reason. Pulling off the wall has too long a range and confusion is just a rough mechanic, unless your a necro.

Overall Id probably put Rangers and Guardians at the lower end, but not by alot.

AoE needs to be nerfed hard. Really hard.

All you need is 1 commander and a bunch of lemmings following the commander closely. Everyone in the group is required to use weapon sets that deals AoE damage on the move. What this creates is a lawn mower. You know what a lawn mower is right? You know that device with rotating blades on 4 wheels that you push around that cuts grass? Yea that.

WvW is a pathetic zerg fest. A bunch of skilless lemmings spamming their auto attacks running around like a swarm of bees.

Nerfing AoE would promote zerging in WvW more.

You can do 10-15 without AR and not die. But you need to be good or you will slow your team down. 5 AR for most people.

You should buy the ones from FotM. They are only 150 fractal relics, which is only a couple of runs. The crafted versions are way to costly.

Did EU prime just finish? Oceanic Prime starting in a few hours. Come on work finish!

There is an issue with supplies. Right now, on my server, there is a guy who has been in the server for a couple of weeks. He is spamming unneccessary use of supplies. I watched him steal a number of siege weapons last night (we drop siege for our commanders to take) and then spammed them at SM in places that were completely useless and used SM supplies to do it, which anyone who has played WvW for a couple of weeks knows is a complete no no. He is doing it on purpose. He is a troll. Rumor is he is a transfer from a rival server and there to disrupt us. We have mostly reported him and ignored him. Not much else you can do, but it would be nice if the reports were actually doing something or the system was changed to stop this level of griefing.

There is skill involved. You can pretty much rush through it just like in sub 10 level. Rather than removing the knockback from the fractal, id rather they removed the bad players from fractals who slow down my runs.

How do you get to the Southsun cove Rich Ori vein with level 2 chars? Wait, do they still have level 80 scaling there????

I have it happen often. I think its a chance for this to happen in combat. But define combat. This also relates to a topic of another bug where you die whilst transferring maps (in WvW) whilst in combat. You die. But if you walk away from combat, theres still a chance you will die. It appears though the server has a hard time changing your status from being “in combat” or “not in combat” and even though you were tagged some 30 seconds ago and lost aggro, you may still be viewed by the server as being “in combat” and subsequently die when you transfer in wvw or get a ruin plant fibre whilst gathering.

As an Oceanic player, I wouldn’t agree we (SoS) have good coverage. Although we do well in our peak (NAs off peak), I get the outmanned bonus during this time most days. Im fine with that though, more rewards for me. Most of my time is spent minimizing the impact of being outmanned and hopefully handing over a reasonable EB and 3 borderlands for the early NA players. And nothing gives me more pleasure than managing to defend a keep with 3 players and a more siege than I can poke a stick at from a zerg of 50.

I use it in WvW on a daily basis. I find it to be one of the most overpowered abilities in the game, especially from a zerg vs zerg perspective.

Im from SoS (Top Tier 1 server atm). Queue times vary alot. Majority of the time there is no queue. Even sometimes peak times can vary alot too. From my experience peak time will be 0-5minute queue. Although on WvW start of week the queue can get above 30 minutes for EB.

That upsets me too. But it really peeves me when I have invested vast amounts coin and Karma in tower upgrades and coin on defenses and then have that tower taken whilst I die doing everything I can including killing multiple enemies in a blaze of fire and then ask why no one react, only to be told that “oh, we are in the JP”…

The amount of siege players can get from the JP is less than what you would lose at one single tower, at least that is the situation on my server. Towers are being lost on a daily basis because people are in the JP. The JP does not belong in WvW. By all means, give people an alternative method to acquire free siege or increase their drops in the world, but the JP just does not belong in there. The only thing they cater for is the PvE crowd who want their badges the easy way.

BlackGate aren’t a certainty to stay in T1 atm. Ive noticed some of their tactics that are quite predictable and the counters are easier when you see them coming. Im not a commander, but I presume the commanders have noticed. Also they had a pretty good start to this week with us going to town on JQ. It wasn’t by choice but we kind of rolled over JQ early whilst allowing BG to take up some of our points. JQ has fought back pretty well to keep close to BG and respectively BG hasn’t done so well not to pull away from them. BG will need to make some changes to stay in T1. Notably their tactics.

I’m currently in the position where I can part craft, part buy the triforge pendent. It would mostly be crafting, but the issue is its only an exotic. Meaning when more ascended comes it may be lower in stats than ascended items. Legendary status would make it safe, but with its exotic tag it seems like it will not be the best of its class at some point in the future, possibly soon? Is it worth getting it? Will it be overshadowed by ascended in the near future? I mean, its almost as expensive as a Legendary in my eyes, but so weakened by its exotic tag.

There are 2 ND guilds. Nine Dragon from SoR and Never Die from IoJ. The former one joined BG and the latter one joined us.

Hi guys,

Ive been at Sea of Sorrows now since the recent server size increase and plan on making it my home. I primarily focus on WvW, although I still do play PvE. I play around 60 hours a week and around half of that is spent in WvW.

I main a Necromancer in a somewhat unconventional build, but I find it more effective in the zerg vs zerg scenario we play compared to other standard builds people roll with. I also have 5 other chars, 4 of them are level 80 and I am working on levelling an elementalist.

Ive been observing the guilds in our WvW and unsure who I want to join, although a couple stand out. I am looking for a guild I can represent and build upon and share experience with. Im looking to develop my game and knowledge as much as possible and contribute to SoS’ success.

I’m a 30 year old male from Brisbane, Australia. Strong numbers during the Oceanic timezone is important to me, however I would still like a guild that has representation 24/7.

Also Voice comms, whether it be teamspeak, vent or mumble are essential. I want to get to know the players I am working with and voice comms makes that alot easier.

If your guild is currently recruiting, feel free to contact me. I’d be more interested in a “trial basis”, so that both the guild and I can get a feel for each other and make sure that I can provide what the guild expects and vice versa.

Id currently consider myself a moderate in terms of experience in WvW (I only have about 1500 kills). Its been somewhat of a recent discovery to me but Ive really come to focus on it. I am looking for a guild with experienced players who can teach me something and maybe some people there that I can help as well.

As a necromancer I have the same problem. I actually dont run pets, but Jad maw targets my bone minions from killing arms ROFL. I don’t think there is much you can do, except stow your pets every chance you get.
