Prices are getting pretty steep. But you can get most of the stuff you need for cheap. Armor from dungeons give you the best possible stats. Weapons I find are best from crafting, you just gotta farm some Orichalcum and Elder and your good to go. Oh and do your dailys and fractals!
They need to add some sink for fractal relics and pristines. There is nothing in there for me to buy that I don’t already have. I don’t need obsidians or rings or 20 slot bags. Probably the only usable thing in there at present is the skill point purchase, but I have hundreds of SPs I have no use for at present anyway.
Sold my precursor tonight :0 Maybe a tidy profit on it. Ive been looking around for älternative"weapons. Ive been transmuting my armor from various places (particularly various dungeon armors). Then I ran into this…
Looks better than any of the legendarys (IMO) and costs less than a precursor AND doesn’t require the luck of a precursor drop. There are a few MF weapons like this, not all as good as this one, but Id rather weapons like this over a legendary tbh.
I am grateful you an switch.. In all other mmorrpgs you can’t change you need to drop it completely loosing all progress.
Thats not true. Many MMORPGS allow you to transfer for a fee without losing progress on tranfer.
Last night it was log in and realise the maintenance just started and then proceed to go angry german kid. Ill be home from work in about an hour. My gameplan is to head to wayfarer on my thief, do the maw and complete dailys that way. Then switch to necro and get 2 dailys for my FotM character. Then head to CoF and farm that for the rest of the night. I have a day off work tomorrow, so I could end up farm CoF for about 5 hours before I get bored, then I might switch to AC or TA for a change. I want a heap of dungeon armor to experiment with different builds on the 7 level 80 characters I have.
Depends on which dungeon.
I feel the same at 20 when I find out my allies have 0 AR, after I’ve resd them for the 100th time. FotM is the new “Im noob, carry me” dungeon, didn’t you get the memo?
People also reset dredge and cliffside
…better nerf those too.
Cliffside is a learning curve, dredge is nerfed now. Im not sure about grawl shaman, I personally dont have problems with it, but somehow end up wiping regularly. It could be that Im a necro main or that my pugs dont build enough survivability or that they are just bad, im not sure.
This is such a ridiculous thread.
I’d love to see the whole server with legendaries, brighten up the game a bit.Imagine how epic it is when 10 in a mob are shooting rainbow unicorns at the claw in Frostgorge?
Or a clash of Zerg vs Zerg with Sunrises and twilights flying everywhere. But we’ll never get to see that. There simply aren’t enough dedicated people on one server.
Which is the way it should be.
Come to JQ, you will see this.
I thought the expected returns for an ecto is 0.8/rare salvage?
If so, then it’s 31.04/0.8 which is about 38.8s.
What prices are ectos at now? I might as well start doing this actually, while ecto prices are high…
PS Thanks for the numbers and calculations =)
Ectos last night were about 38.8. The night before they were at 39.6. I notice some kind of price cutting going on for these though and you can frequently get them for around 37.5s. Also, remember its not just ectos with rares. They also often provide tier 5 mats and a rune, which I believe would cover the loss on the ecto sale. Also, a failed rare is still another green you can use again.
It happens occasionally. Its always working again after a reset AFAIK.
I wonder if there is a limit to the number of legendaries, or whether we will indeed all be using legendaries eventually?
The thing that is limiting amount of legendaries at current stage is probably the amount of precursor. Most other things can easily be farmed or bought since they have a big stock. However precursors are pretty limited. I think only yesterday there was only 2 The Legends in trading post. But even at one time I’ve seen around 20-ish at once. If you not going to buy it or get it as a drop, the only way to get it is Mystic Forge but the gamble can be endless. So… unless they drastically increase the drop rate of precursor or give other way to acquire it, the legendaries will still be “rare”.
I own “the legend” at the moment. I don’t intend on listing it until the price goes up more. I lose almost 100 gold just selling it.
One thing I think would make me interested in legendarys are if they were much more unique, aka if they brought out a tonne of more, different looking Legendarys. I really like my characters and I want them to look different and unique, not exactly the same as everyone else.
Never personally seen it stated that its 20%, but from my experience that sounds about right. I farm fractals and throw all greens in the MF.
Also, there is the added value of a rune. When you get a rare, you can sell the rune for around 4-6 silver on the TP. Now that, I dont know why people are paying for.
There is something about the herathi hinterland event though that kind of spurs up something inside people I think. I remember when I first stumbled upon it and thinking, “wow this has been here all this time and I never knew about it”. Then I start thinking “what else am I missing”. Im pretty sure Ive done most of “the big events”now, so I will post up a list for you in the near future. Unfortunately, I have to go to work in 4 hours and need some sleep first :p
My first guess would be, the player has found these green items to have a high chance of returning yellows (rares) from the mystic forge. Thus he is buying 4 × 1s 46c (5.48 silver) with a high chance of turning them into a rare, usually for globs of ectoplasm. Globs are going for around 40 silver IIRC. If hes doing this, its probably a pretty smart move. As far as I am concerned, there is a high probability that certain items have a higher chance of coming back with upgrades from the mystic forge, but it has not officially been confirmed.
Thing is, I think the legendarys are horrible. Can I use the world completion tokens for anything else?
(heck why include an option to buy gems with gold in the first place?)
lol… um… to make money… ?
If you think it was included for any other primary reason, you are truely delusional.
I don’t get it. How do they make money from players who buy gems with gold?
The correct answer is they don’t.
You get alot of SPs playin CoF. Where can you farm more gold than a 6 minute CoF run?
(edited by sostronk.8167)
And how far? I was just doing some math. My least favorite past time. I’ve noticed these lodestones are on the way down and was wondering why. Then it hit me. CoF. During that I decided to see if there was any way for me to profit. Turns out there is by converting 2 cores into a lodestone. Going by the current prices:
2 cores = 6.2 silver each
pile of incandescent dust = 14.2 silver
Elonian Rice Win = 25.6 silver
Throw in your crystal and you have a lodestone for 52.2 silver. The Tp list for Molten lodestones right now is around 63.3, so 10 silver profit a piece and around 6 after “tax”. But thats if you buy them right off the TP. If your farming CoF and hit up Orr for the piles occasionally, your pretty much covering over half the cost of making them.
I suspect the price is going to go well down. But how far? :p
I spent 1.6million karma on obsidians to get my clovers. Didn’t bother me though, got plenty of T6 mats from it.
Find a server that owns all of WvW so you can map it easier. Apart from that the world map is pretty straight forward. The only issue may be in Orr where some skill points can be pretty tough solo.
Only point in the entire game I had trouble with: The Skill Point in the maze in Orr. Everytime I popped in, in comes the veteran giant and all his friends and Im dead. I wiped about 6-7 times doing it lol. Then asked for someone to come help and it was a breeze with two. Orr/Malchors/SoD etc are alot easier if you can find a small group that are looking for map completion.
WvW was easy for me because I play wvw.
Try to set goals, like today I am going to complete Herathi Hinteralands and stick to that goal. It goes really quickly when you have specific goals, although you may find yourself up a bit later at night. Some days I was completing 4-5 areas in a day (weekend) once “world completion” became a goal.
It could be that it’s an undercut by a large amount for fast sales, and in small quantities in case another person undercuts that offer.
Of course trying to artificially lower the price is definitely possible too, but then wouldn’t it be easier to offer a large quantity to do it?
Yeah it confuses me. It makes no sense at all. I mean, they are doing this, but the price is still going up because the demand is substantially higher than their supply. So really, they are undercutting themselves, because they will be getting a quick sale by matching lowest buyer. All it is doing is slowing down the increase in price at their loss as far as I am concerned.
If I buy 4,000 at 4.32 silver, and sell all 4,000 for say 17s. How am I losing anything. =P
You fail to understad, that what you consider “undercutting themselves” and “thier loss” is actually making me 400g+ profit. Your perceived loss (of say 1-2s) is lower than my perceived gain (of 400g+ net profit.) Therefor, to you it is bewildering, while to me, makes perfect sense.
4,000 scale cost: 172g 80s 00c
4,000 scale sell: 680g 00s 00c
-15% tax: 578g 00s 00cNet profit: 405g 20s 00c
The flaw in your logic, therefor is that you assume the variables I am basing my judgement on. Except, you cannot know what I paid for something originally, and the perceived profit I make by selling it before it has a chance to drop in value.
Since neither you nor I can see the eventual market price the next day. I perceive myself as making a huge profit by selling now, whereas you perceive me taking a loss. (But in reality as my Cost is lower than my Net Gain. I have profited.)
This may not be everyone’s reason for doing so. But the profit I make far outweights any “perceived loss” someone else may believe I am taking.
Its barely clearing the 15% listing price. But some prefer 400g over 600g. Simple as that as to why it makes no sense to me.
It could be that it’s an undercut by a large amount for fast sales, and in small quantities in case another person undercuts that offer.
Of course trying to artificially lower the price is definitely possible too, but then wouldn’t it be easier to offer a large quantity to do it?

I personally never have problems staying alive in the boss fight. It seems alot of other players do. I can’t help but feel that perhaps they haven’t got enough survivability built for fractals. It got to a stage a while back where I ended up soloing the boss, but its hard to finish him because of his heal. If I lose all 4 of my allies now I just run into the lava and die. I noticed most people dont use food to buff themselves either, which Im sure would help.
For the people saying the difficulty to be levelled, answer me this. I find CM and Arah hard. The rest of the dungeons I find easy. Why is it that I find CM so difficult that I won’t play it when I do dungeons on a daily basis? Its not a L2P issue. There is a reason why its one of the least searched dungeons via pugs.
I have everything I need to make a legendary, precursor included atm. Thing is I don’t want a legendary because I believe they look bad. But I see alot of people hanging off on scavenger hunt.
As it suggests. Id love more tabs where I can equip alternate gear setups, IE a dungeon one, wvw one, open world one. Basically all thats needed is the tab like the one that exists for “town clothes” and “armor”. Its a bit of a dissinsentive when you have to carry around your extra armor/weapons in your bags. Id more than happily pay gems for this. I know I can carry around a full set of armor/weapons, but one click to switch (whilst not in combat) would be awesome.
To give an example, I have a level 80 warior with FULL Magic find armor/gear. I wouldn’t play this in dugeons, so I could click the dungeon tab to quickly switch to my dungeon setup before I enter a dungeon rather than slowly moving all my gear too and from my bag to get the setup I want.
I have 7 chars at 80. One thing I started doing is started crafting chef first on all of them. Not just for the crafting experience, but for the statistical bonus’ from the food that make the open world easier and the +10, +10% and +%15 experience from kills bonus experience.
Also, check a list of base materials required for each discipline. Leather, for instance, is highly common in human areas so if thats the area your playing in, you might be best doing leatherworker.
Also consider what class you are and see if that class will benefit from that crafting profession. This might allow you to equip some crafted gear which, once again, make open world just that little bit easier.
IMO, hit chef staight away. The above post covers alot of what you want to know though.
Ive never had a problem with this. I mostly do FotM with a Necro. I lay down marks to keep track of where he is when he is invisible, so I always know exactly where he is.
Ive noticed alot more noobs is wayfarer who like to split farm the event for some reason. I guess Anet has sold some more GW2 copies lately. If this happened in Orr, Im pretty sure someone would literally hunt the split farmer down and kill them. I can usually micro to get gold for most, only bit I struggle to get both rewards for are the shaman + guards event that comes up at the same time. I either get a gold or two bronze.
Well did you guys really think that in an MMO with thousands of people playing everyday and the way legendaries are set up being pretty much just a gold sink, that you were gonna be a special and unique snowflake after 5 months into the release? You people that are so worried about others really need to just focus on your toon like Aza.2105 said.
I actually dont have a legendary. I am in the position to craft two with everything I need, but I am holding off for now to observe the market. Im not really good with that stuff tbh so I need some time to think about what I am going to do. The whole concept of legendary though, its kind of contradictory when they are common right?
Well no, this is where you use your own imagination. You’re supposed to be the ONLY commander of the pact, the ONLY hero of your race/order/etc. People need to learn to use their imagination and stop taking the game so literal. If it were meant to be taken literally, there would only be one of each legendary weapon in the game. In game, all the other players don’t really exist, at least, they’re not on your level
Oh ok, so all those other legendarys I see players carrying around don’t exist because I am playing a single player game. I must be seeing things.
IKR. Why weren’t amulets put in the FotM vendor? They are the main reason I would play FotM now. I have enough rings. FoTM is pretty much a waste of my time now.
I don’t believe the scavenger hunt will end up happening. Just throwing it out there. I won’t be holding my breath.
Ive come to learn in this game that almost everything I want I can get without gold. The few things I want that need gold are predominantly for Tier 6 mats and lodestones. Take from that what you want.
Magg can get a little bit annoying/buggy at times. Especially clearing the flames with the freeze gun bit.
Sostronk, perhaps the ability to get items that were previously useful, might have made fractals feel worth while now, but wether its a nerf or not, there is no doubt that fractals are in no way a competetive way of earning gold or globs.
CoF is a better way to earn gold, timewise. But for me I don’t know a better way to farm globs.
I disagree that the loot in game was nerfed. Anet have said it was not nerfed. But there is still less reason to play it. Rings were good. The containers were good and the backpiece was good. Now new ascended gear can only be acquired by Laurels. Most players who played fractals previously already have their rings/backpiece = no point in playing it.
Ive had these a few times now and fairly new to thief:
1. Players auto attacking me whilst I am in stealth (seem to often be SB)
2. SR removing me from stealth when I am in stealth from heal.
Are these common? They are bugs right?
I don’t play alot of COF, but yeah I know Molten Cores drop really frequenly.
Quaggans
Dwarves
Kodan
I have a precursor right now and most of what I need to make the legendary. Except, Im tossing up whether to sell the precursor or craft the legendary and sell the legendary. I still need more mats and I need to work out which way I want to go. I don’t really want a legendary for myself, they all look bad IMO anyways. I want to watch the market right now also. Legendary prices are all over the place. I wouldn’t bother crafting it unless I was to get 2500g for one. Otherwise Id like to keep what I want and sell the precursor. But the precursor is still going up in price so maybe I should hold onto it to maximise my profit.
I mostly check scores whilst Im at work. I check them in game when Im online. My work network blocks the millenium website as flagged containing malicious software that contain a security threat so Im limited to checking the score updates in here.
Personally I dont think its much of an issue now. There was an issue before where it was taking Glicko too long to adjust to the large server hopping. Now with (expensive) server transfers, we aren’t going to see so much server hopping.
Kick and Bulls Charge are utility skills. Bulls is on a 40sec timer so do make sure to save endurance for dodge when kiting, if out of dodges, use the shortbow 3 skill. Kick is 20sec timer but it and all others with Mace/Shield are melee rance stuns/knocks as far as i know.
What other weapon set do you use other than SB?
F1 Mace ability is a ranged (large – larger than SR I believe) AoE. By ranged, I mean he jumps to the target area, so technically not ranged. Secondary is DD for my theif. Im using CoF armor (toughtness, CD, Power off the top of my head) with Runes of the afflicted.
Yeah I noticed a big change with SOS last night. With the exception of ND guild, I never seen anyone from there. As an oceanic from JQ, most nights, even this week I was regularly getting outmanned buff. But last night it felt like a 1v1. Hope it was just a one off. I like the challenge of being outnumbered.
Its kind of annoying lol. Its constantly happening every couple of minutes almost 24 hours a day. Im tempted to just throw everything I have into it and pushing the price through the roof just to mess with them. I wouldn’t though, could end badly for me :p
Perhaps I am confusing skills. I am talking about the one that launches him to you and knocks you down. I thought it was kick. But it is activated at approximately the same range as the Shortbow.
OK so I am currently farming dungeon armor for my Thief before I fully go into WvW. But I have been doing some test runs with what I currently have equipped. I currently only have 14.5k health and will have around 17k when Im fully geared and most of my armor has toughness as part of its + stats.
But Ive noticed a real problem with warriors. Its one in particular that is doing this. But basically he is using kick to knock me to the ground. I believe its just called “kick”. I have a warrior but have full MF farming build on him and its not an ability I use for that.
Once he has done this im pretty much dead. On a number of occasions I have popped heal for the stealth, but kick still works when I am in stealth because it was activated first, apparently. In this case he can’t target me with more direct attacks, so he popps F1 (Mace/shield build) which will stun me long enough for him to kill me. Thats probably the best case scenario. If I didn’t manage pop stealth he can chain stun me with mace/shield abilities.
Is there any way a thief can deal with this kind of stun combo? Or should I just avoid warriors altogether?
Asking whether it is. I really hope its considered one and Anet do something about it. Yeah Im spreading the word by discussing it. What is it? So here I am doing a COF run and fighting the boss. Boss is about 60% and I start to wonder why its taking so long. Have a quick look, yep its happened again. All my allies have logged out of the game and logged back in on a low level character, for some reason usually level 10-15. It wastes my time. AFAIK the only benefit is that they get XP on a low level char. Maybe they also get increased MF benefits for killing a level X dungeon on a low level char. All I know is it wastes my time and I hope it gets fixed. But is it an exploit?
