From my experience, Bloodtide coast was popular for a while, but as everyone levelled it became less frequented. Id say Sparkfly fen is more populated these days because of Teq and the large amount of events in the area.
Herathi is a good area. The main chain event is one of the best in the game IMO. But I don’t think people go there alot because of a few reasons… its not a level 80 area so you acquire less 80 mats/gear, its somewhat away from all the other major areas etc etc.
FireHeart Rise is a bit random. I don’t like the area because it is just too big. People like it for the volcano boss event with the chest at the end and alot of people can turn up for that one, but IDK people didn’t come to GW2 to play run simulator AFAIK.
The most frequented area right now seems to be Orr. After the patch it just seems to be a reasonable place to play and there are a few farm events there (looking at Plinx even with nerf).
I don’t think PvE is dieing overall. There are alot of areas people like to farm. But for players like myself who have no reason to farm, we are off playing WvW rather than doing the same thing over and over again for that carrot.
At 20+ people love swamp. Hell some groups will even restart until they get swamp.
It’s the easiest and shortest fractal once you know what you’re doing.
Protip: you can usually jump over the treelines.
Im pretty sure you cant jump over the back treelines, only the middle/front ones. Im certain in some cases the back treeline extends from one side of the map to the other. Thereby some classes cannot complete that one with their ability set. Its the back one that gets the most delays. Sometimes people mess up the side ones, thats all good. But its when pugs don’t pick up a player with a class that can get over that back wall then its destined to take a while.
Cheapest way to get bags is play fractals. The superior runes of holding make crafting these not worthwhile.
I play all classes but main a thief. I love playing them most of all, because they are the least forgiving. But when I am running around Lions Arch, I do get this constant urge to steal stuff but I can’t because the game won’t let me
Oh nice the wiki covers it well. I didn’t think it would give the detailed information I was after so didn’t look, thx
I was payed 401k and a porche from JQ for my transfer.
Don’t run dungeons for now, then. It’s not like they will be gone or something.
People value their time, it’s natural. Your progress is your own problem, just like in real world. The other side of the coin is, I value my time too. And dungeons are fun content. Why should I have to wait and not do the content I want to do when it’s designed to do so from early on? Just because people ‘feel’ their time wasted by ‘carrying’ someone who doesn’t need to really just suckerpunches that argument.
This reminds me of when I was on a train home from work the other day. A girl held the door open so the train could not take off whilst she finished her conversation with her friends. The train driver made an announcement, to my surprise, saying “girl in carraige 6 do not hold the door open, your time is not as important as everyone elses on the train”. The same can be applied here. Your time is not as important as the 4 other people you are in the dungeon with.
The saying may hold water, but not that example. Trains are on a set schedule. Dungeon runs are not. You don’t have to have the run done within a special period (server reset aside) to get credit. Also, not being level 80 isn’t somehow holding people back for your own sake. Like many people (of experience) have said, on average you can be just as effective in a downscaled dungeon as an 80.
Another reason the example doesn’t work – if the non-80s are the people waiting for the train to go and the lvl 80 is the one holding the door waiting for someone of the proper level (another 80), they’re just wasting time.
The vast majority of players Ive played dungeons want the dungeon done within a specific timeframe. Anything else and they have been slowed down by the girl holding the door open. You must get some very different players in your group if they don’t have expectations on how long a dungeon should take.
Oand I have 8x 80s now Who plays with sub 80s, that was so January 2013.

Im pretty sure it exists, because Im pretty sure I read the comments that alluded to it not being a rare material. The problem was that it was only “alluded” to, but it was never really officially stated. Im banking on ectos not being a “rare material”, but an entity of its own.
Hi I have a few hundred jugs of karma Ive been saving. As I understand it, some of the things you have access to can increase how much karma you get from them. I have a karma booster and a Karma guild flag. Anything else I should do or anything I should know before I start opening them?
I preferred it when the arguing was one liners. These walls of text are distracting my score updates!

Update from my favorite area, haven’t posted on in awhile.
21k vitality! Makes my 10k vitality thief feel inadequate!
In all honesty, as a current thief main, GS warriors are the ones that scare me the most. I always stay well back and kite them from max range. Anything else… guardians are annoyingly hard to kill and youve got to be careful with them, elementalists are overrated but annoying to kill, rangers, necros and engineers are free kills, mesmers are annoying. And always keep the objective against other thiefs. But yeah, warriors imo are the most powerful overall class in WvW.
Initially I thought open world PvP and thought that is precisely WvWvW. Then I realised the one thing its missing is alot of casuals to pick on. I can’t see anything positives coming from a different version that aren’t already available in WvWvW.
If you plan on playing WvW, Id recommend Jade Quarry.
Nice start to the week JQ Lets keep it up! Or maybe we should ease up so we don’t have so many haters :p
I think I am in a worse place than alot of the posters in this thread so far. The thing for me is, I have done 8 80 characters and kitted them up with the best stat weapons/armor/gear and transmuted bits of it to get a look I like. I don’t really care that much about rewards now. So it seems like a waste of time doing any of the “PvE content”. The only thing keeping me in this game right now is WvW. Its not about rewards for me, there is a massive lack in content. Ive never played an MMO before this one and I thought MMOs were supposed to have content that would keep all gamers going and progressing
I thought I had read or heard it mentioned that when you completed entire rewards sections (IE tradesmen, slayer) there were rewards similar to the ones you got for area completion in the world. But this weekend I decided to sit down and finish some of the ones that I was close to completing and no rewards. Was I wrong that this was the case that there were supposed to be rewards for completing acheivement sections?
Only thing immune to blind might be some bosses, and an engineer with goggles…. Unless there are other blind immunities? And is the skill bugged because of that? Otherwise it should stealth just fine.
Im talking about in WvW. I haven’t figured out why players are immune to blind, but whenever stealth doesn’t pop Ive noticed the red words “immune” popping up around the player, so figuring its related. Once I see that I don’t get stealth.
What I do is /join off the player posting the LFG. I don’t ask if they have room I just piggy back off them and everyone is none the wiser. Works almost every time and saves time advertising yourself.
They will slowly go down over the next few months. Never see them as low as 4s again.
They were key components in crafting the triforge which could immediately become ascended and pei ple did not want to wait for laurels.
Also the price before was extremely low to begin with because t6 dust is used in hands down the mosy recipes in the game. It was already an undervalued item.
In short. Yes sell now as prices will drop in my opinion.
They are key components in alot more things than triforge. The triforge isn’t even noteworthy here. There are things that I use every day that require T6 dust. I essentially need around 30 T6 dust every day and I don’t have time to farm Orr etc.
Skimming is not your friend when making counterpoints.
I said the exact thing you just stated.
It must not be, because even after reading it multiple times I still come up saying something very different to what you do.
A thief can spec and build for permanant stealth, but this is not a “full glass cannon build”. I run a “full glass cannon build” and your looking of a gap of around 20 seconds between skills that you can chain together stealth. If you run a dagger you can potentially get another 6 seconds of stealth. The downside is there are a large amount of things that can one hit kill you, even when your in stealth.
As a thief you have to be really careful, particularly around Guardians and Warriors. If a guardian hits you with 5 skill on his greatsword, you should be dead, if not he screwed up. Warrior can knock you down in multiple ways and kill you before you can get back up, if he has a mace/shield I am running away, otherwise Ill only kite him from max range with pistols and only in the right circumstance (IE hes at the back of a zerg committed to attacking my allied zerg).
Ive recently been involved in some rituals upon my death. I don’t know if others have experienced it, or if its a “thief only” thing, but each time I am killed the enemy players come along and bury me in a mountain of these things I think are called “spike root fruits”, followed by a moments silence.
Worst I have seen is the Quip. Sure, its “graphical components” are quite bad, but by god those sound effects.
My sentiment with the biggest problem in dungeons is that as an 80 I don’t want to play with lower level players who will slow me down. I presume this isn’t the problem you are referring to, because it wouldn’t affect me at all. After this weekend, all 8 of my characters will be 80 and I have no intention of ever making another character and likewise I will have no intention of ever dungeoning with a sub 80.
Orr is pretty populated in my server these days since the nerfs/buffs patch it had. Although, I still see alot of people in LA as well, so maybe its your server.
Yes I have frequently. And it is usually right when I have peeved that 50man zerg off enough that they are all raging trying to target me. RIP Thief.
The other annoying one im finding is blinding power skill which gives 3 sec stealth. If someone is immune to blind for some reason you don’t get stealth either, which is BS IMO.
There are some things in higher levels you can get like fractal weapons skins etc. But, yeah, i don’t think its really worth the effort. There are not enough things you can buy with fractal relics at present, if there were more things you might want to go higher so you can do multiple dailys to go bonus relics. Also drops are increased very slightly the higher you get, but not substantially.
I have no personal interest going there. Only attraction at present is a few high end materials (Karka shells, ori, ancient wood log, passion flowers). The area is underdeveloped. More is coming soon. But right now, unless your looking to farm, there is no point being there.
You should see the list of infractions I have in my mailbox. If someone notices you say anything remotely negative someone reports you and you get infracted. GW2 community cannot handle anything but rose blossoms.
You should start appealing them.
Also, I wish I could say I’m surprised, but since I also hung out on Reddit’s Minecraft sub? Yeah, I can’t say I am
I made a post about how they should not be so easy on the infractions because forumgoers are customers. The post was infracted within a minute and deleted. I don’t think they care. Neither will I. I am appealing, but not by their means. I used to pump around $50 into this game a fortnight, which was completely unneccesary but my theory was pump money into the game = development. Now Ive made a decision not to spend another cent on the game due to this. That’s my way of appealing

Do a chef. I have 8 chars. All of them have chef + 1 other craft. Chef is easy to level plus you get the stat + XP bonus whilst doing PvE/WvW.
I personally wouldn’t recommend artificer/jeweller as one of your first few crafts as these two are more expensive than other crafts. If you end up levelling multiple chars, youll have more resources to level these later on.
Ive been working towards getting my JP achievements up. But it seems like the best I ever get is a masterwork weapon/armor. Do they ever drop anything of value?
I don’t think its an internet thing. I just think that deep down, most human being loathe humanity and wish it didn’t exist. I could be wrong though and speaking only for myself.
Unless things have changed, there was a build you could do to get infinite stealth for a theif. I believe it involved pistol/dagger skill with other deception skills. Its on youtube, Id link it but I am at work and do go on youtube whilst at work.
People still getting beaten up because they can’t understand stealth are bad. WvW players are bad in general. Try that P/D ‘infinite’ stealth in sPvP. All the higher ranked people will laugh at you.
I was just pointing out that it is possible to build permanant stealth on a thief. Not really sure why your bringing up WvW or sPVP.
Do WvW bonus’ effect the mystic forge outcome at all?
GW2 is about to lose alot of people to lack of content.
Pretty sure DR is broken.
I recently levelled my 80 thief too. But its like my 7th 80. Best thing to do is craft your armor. I did berserker because im crit/damage thief build. Weapons were crafted too, using Pearl pistols and daggers. I transmuted them because I think the pearl weapons look ugly. Buy an amulet with Laurels. Get rings and backpiece from FotM. Depending on your build, you can either buy runes or craft them. Personally I had to buy mine because the ones I wanted aren’t craftable. Buy your trinket.
If your a chef work out what recipe is best for you and craft in bulk. Remember sharpening stones and maintenance oil, craft them if you can or buy them from TP.
Your a ranger with a brown bear? So bots post in forums now too!
Honestly, IMO, Power precision and crit damage. Its what I roll with. It is completely unforgiving though. But if you run deception skills it gives you some leverage. I mean I have absolutely no vitality or toughness in my armor/weapon build and 10k health total and I will run at the front of my zerg in WvW and dive in with dagger storm and run right through the enemy zerg and still be alive to kite them from the rear. Your going to be squishy as a thief no matter what, so why not max your damage output?
Well, Anet is struggling to bring out new PvE content as it is. Look at the February update, “repair some signs, gather some badges”. At this stage Im sure most players are well through the PvE content and have simply started grinding it. The majority have hit the end game and have no content to cater for them. If they don’t pull the stick out of their kitten Im sure we won’t have to worry about wvw not becoming what we had hoped, but whether this game would become what we had hoped.
What if your guild only has one member? Is this going to be achieveable?
I bet this poll will have no sampling bias
LOL. Exactly.
IKR, its like going into a butcher shop and polling people on whether they still buy meat.

- You can pick up alot of greens from some dungeons. I found MF has a return rate of around 20% greens to yellows.
- If you farm alot of tokens, you can spend them on dungeon weapons/armor into the MF for precursor
- You get alot of cores in some dungeons so convert them to lodestones for your legendary.
Crafting might be a better method specifically for precursor. But if you can get a decent dungeon farming team than they might be a better, more efficient option… and you can potentially get a precursor drop from the dungeon whilst you can’t from crafting!
I don’t think Legendarys are that good. There are better looking weapons with the same stats out there that you can get from the MF and other places. Unless you specifically want a legendary for achievements or whatever, I wouldn’t recommend going for them.
Not just those 3 utilities, but deception as a whole is too dominant a build, comapared to the alternatives IMO.
Mesmer, Guardian, Engineer, Necro.
I think Necro is underrated as a tank support. The amount of condition removal/transfer and the amount of heals that they can spam constantly (need to work the trait line right and you can constantly be healing) make them a really good support.
Peace? Through superior fire power!
