When I first started WvW I thought for sure kill count would be part of the points system.
Simple fix to thieves.
Damage received automatically breaks stealth.This would not work at all. This isn’t a like most other games were stealth lasts indefinitely.
It’s enough that hitting a thief in stealth is actively killing them – and it’s extremely easy to do in this game because of the massive amounts of aoe. Additionally automatically stripping their only form of defense is too much. Every other class spends resources and gets X amount of reliable protection in whatever form outside of boon stripping in some cases – and those cases are balanced around boon stripping. Random aoe making it impossible to stealth, especially in large scale combat, leaves the thief class fragile and vulnerable with no upside to offset it. And no, a 4 minute CD “run away” ability doesn’t fix it.
All it does is make the thief choose their targets more carefully. If you think it is ok to run in the middle of a zerg, kill one person and vanish at 80% life you are sorely mistaken. However, there are no developers willing to fix a stealth class in any MMO due to the large portion of players actually fanatical about it.
I will say this, Star Wars has a well balanced stealther class. Sith Assassin/Jedi shadow no matter how you spec them Tank/DPS have everything I mentioned. Its fantastic to play a stealther with the thrill of knowing if you screw up, you die.
Instead of insta-gibbing people for 5k 3 or 4 times before they can react. You know the class is broken and you dont want the fix that will make them balanced. Its ok, just admit it. I play an engineer.
My belief is that Anet do not hold the same balance opinions on thiefs that alot of players in this thread do.
Being visible for 3 secs minus culling is far from “high risk”, bro.

Its been a cool week. Unfortunately I can’t play much WvW atm because I’m broke and have to farm some PvE I feel I should put in more effort, but meh, I’ll play the tortoise, you can be there hare.
Right now i believe it bit difficult to tell if stelth needs a nerf the main reoson that thiefs are so well with stealth is because of culling we need to see if theifs are still just as powerful once thats fixed if they are stilled overpowered increase revaled timer so that they can’t restelth themselves because i honestly play theif and know that i have 3 seconds of revealed time and i usually never see thief after he damages for even second once they attack so culling maybe the main issue. I play conditon thief so dont jump on my back about it
I can answer that for you. In tournaments, thieves are average at best because when they attack, they come out of stealth. There’s also less opportunity for endless kiting, but I think the main thing is that revealed debuff actually works in tournaments.
Isn’t it also so that Thieves do less damage in tournaments?
Is there less targets in tournaments, meaning TAB retargetting is more effective?
Do all players in tournament have same level and reasonable toughness so that thief cannot just burst a target down with opener alone?
One of the complaints in WvW is green arrow players getting repeatedly 1-shotted by thief and thief escaping. Sure any profession can succeed killing a lowbie, but our team would have a chance to hunt him down and kill him back. Either right after the kill or before if the enemy was discovered hovering just outside spawn point.
I complained of being one hit by thiefs in the past too. So I picked up the thief as my main. I do not believe its possible for a thief to one hit anyone other than another thief. I have the highest possible crit build and the highest crit I have seen is 13k. And this is with a full GC build where you only have 10k health and there are multiple classes that can one hit you.
In all honesty I see a GC thief as a “high risk-medium rewards”build. Why I still run my thief this way is because I feel I can outplay a majority of the players in WvW with any class. And to point out, I recently have had to change my thief and Ive gone back to my Necromancer as the current servers are kind of forcing me to do it because of the tactics they implement and GC thief is not as beneficial. I could always switch out my thief build, but the reality is I would be contributing less than with my Necro right now so Ill play whats needed.
Mesmers need to be deleted. Nah they need a real rework. IMO they need it more than any other class. Portals and Veil are both Imba. I guess limiting this stuff like AoEs would help, but I think in general Mesmers just need a rework.

Yeah I see BG do it every day lol. I got used to it, but its still OP.
Necro DS heal (traited) is giving any ally near me a heal of about 250Health per pulse and around 7 pulses. I find it makes a reasonable difference in zerg vs zerg. Each person is getting back around 1500-2000 health. Also they can remove all conditions from nearby allies (and send them to enemy), AoE Well heal nearby allies. Staff skill 2 also has AoE heal. I think they are a bit underrated personally, especially those complaining they are underpowered.

Blaming it on guesting is not a scapegoat, because your point is that it is the servers not being able to handle the amount of players at an event. This is solely in the hands of Anet and I haven’t seen a single person from Anet say its because of guesting.
But as you know, obviously if an event is laggy and you add more people to the event from other servers it isn’t going to help.
1-2 dungeon path runs will get you around 1 piece of level 80 armor. Figure out what stats you want and then see which dungeon armor provides those stats. Then figure out what runes you want and craft or buy them. Personally I think crafting your weapons is gonna be cheaper than buying outright. Farm rings and backpiece from FotM. Buy your amulet with Laurels. Craft or buy your jewellery.
I think its BS that GW2 has no COD so to force players to either be at the hands of con artists or be at the hands on Anet, neither of which is more trust worthy.

DW guys. I have it on good word from Anet that they will be upgrading their hamsters in the near future.
Hammer Warriors are good in groups, Solo though like most warriors = dead to any Condition Build who’s not terrible at playing.
But yea, nothing will screw House stealth more then a Hammer Warrior.
Pretty much any warrior is a nightmare to me. I won’t fight them if I can avoid it. If Im in a zerg on zerg, I try to burst them down so towards the end of the fight I don’t have to deal with a full HP warrior. GS will dunk on your Shadow refuge as will mace/shield or hammer and I can get one hit by a GS warrior. Im actually working on some gear for my warrior now (it currently has 200%+ MF build LAWL) and then I am going to go thief hunting.
Im expecting another flop of a patch.

It seems to me that alot of guilds went to JQ as well.
I don’t think BG are going to beat us this week. But I think it will be close. I think at some point in the future BG might beat us occasionally. But I don’t think the majority of the guilds will transfer. Maybe some. But there is really nowhere for them to go except down or JQ which would be lame.
As for guilds. I think “the big name” guilds are really overrated. I think what makes the big differences are the dedicated pugs and JQ has alot of them. When i came to JQ I noticed they had a strangely laid back approach to WvW for a server so successful at it. Then I realised it was there to make WvW attractive to casuals. They make a real difference.
I don’t know why people split up oceanic and SEA. Its basically the same timezone. Im from Australia and I play at the same time as nD.
i have only problem with P/D thief, they have mostly high survivability an insane stacking of bleed + still they have c&d from dagger, this is "meta"in wvw atm i think, i see more and more thiefs with this
anet forcing ppl to play thieves, when they want small scale pvp in wvwIt might be meta. But I do notice most seem to be running P/P – D/D. I run PP-DD because I find it has a better contribution overall. As a full GC you can do 12-13k damge burst off the PP and you can do it twice in a row before CD (out of initiative). Just got to be careful as reflect skills from Guardian and a few other things and you will basically instantly kill yourself as you only have 10k health. The bleed stacks are only good if they don’t have condition removal or worse condition transfer.
But there is just one thing I don’t like about this thread. Its all QQ about thiefs. But the most OP thing in the game right now is stealth and it is Veil. The amount of times Ive seen this wipe 50 player zergs just because it was landed at the right time. This contributes more to a server than any thief could ever dream to. There are alot of players who know how to deal with thiefs and its brutally obvious who they are when I am facing them. But alot of people dont. And rather than actually work out there mechanics by playing them for a period of time they just want to complain about them without knowing how they really work.
You kiddin me right? If a Mesmer does run veil the duration is not long enough for 50 people to run through and if that be the case by the time all 50 people get through it the ones that popped in it first are already coming out… Then lets talk about the kittenedly long 90 second cooldown on a freaking utility slot (genius!) and the fact that the Mesmer is then losing out on another useful utility slot… Mesmer stealth is not spammable like a thieves… By the time a Mesmer spams all their stealth skills they are SOL and have no more access to it if a Mesmer is running veil then you have roughly 90 seconds to deal with them after… And in all honesty if they were to make veil to have a X person limit… I highly doubt anyone would care… The only people trying to deflect this conversation about the highest stealth class in the game away from it are said players that play this class… And the only people that would get any ADDED BONUS from going through a veil would be thieves especially in damage…
Try telling this to T1 servers. By time organized zergs come out of veil the enemy zerg is pretty much wiped. When its not that, its portal bombing. Both Mesmer abilties. Just because your players don’t know how to use veil doesn’t mean anything.
Take a look at MOS Millenium WvW rankings. It can give you some guage, although timezone comes into play.

To be sadly honest, I find Cm too hard. Thats why I don’t play it.
I have alot of globs from rares from these events. Im guessing standard RNG.
I purchased globs in bulk. And by bulk, I mean I bought a kitten load of them to sell at a later stage. Then in comes rares almost every time you get a boss chest. NVM, ill use them eventually lol. Running out of bank space for these globs though.
We were top server just a few weeks ago, now we can barely hold a handful of towers. Are we destined for T8? If that’s the case, I’ll probably just transfer. I play this game for WvW and running around with groups about half the size of the others servers isn’t fun, unless repair bills are considered fun.
Honest opinon, just transfer if WvW is what you do. I left SOS well back before the free transfers. Glad I went to JQ because they are probably the most stable server of all right now. The reason I joined them was because of their history, look at their finishes in rankings since the beginning. They have always been a high ranking server, unlike most others. WvW is volatile and things could change. But JQ is sitting nicely for a long time coming I believe.
I can’t say I dislike the idea, but I can’t imagine the lag would make it playable. Look at how bad the servers can be at present and then add another 200ms ping to that.
MaW event is 6-7 medals every 25 minutes. That with some crafting and you’ll have 8 level 80s like me in no time
Well, it takes about 6-8 minutes to get 6-7 medals in Maw. Then you can spend the other 20+ minutes farming various other chain events whilst waiting for Maw to be done. The downside is now, that you only get one chest per day. But its still the fastest XP farm in open world.
So peanut butter and jelly, or peanut butter alone.

When a keep is contested, you can’t waypoint in to save it, like you mention at the start. In fact, in EB on our server its quite often contested because of the groups getting around constantly contesting it just to shut down the WP and delay players getting back into the action and they can do this on their normal paths between places like Golanta and Rogues.

I think there is an issue with it scaling because there are ALOT of people nearby waiting for Tequatyl, but not participating in the Krait event.

Your better off levelling it. There is a learning curve and if you start in higher levels you will just be constantly killed and be no help to your team.
You should be moving and watching the enemy’s attack patterns. Understanding how the foe attacks and what their animations look like can help you take no damage at all.
True, but unfortunately not always possible. I’ll give you an example (see attachment). I consider myself experienced in online gaming and gaming in general, but with so many spell and skill effects, I cannot see a kitten thing, let alone boss animations (I feel sorry for backstab thieves).

Does guesting bypass the only one chest per character and event flag? If not, I don’t see how guesting is an issue, and if it does it sounds like a bug to me.
Because of the timings with the dragons, people are checking all timers and jumping from one to the next so that there is no down time between dragons and then jumping off to do other bosses. And no I believe it doesn’t bypass it.
Firstly, Ive done every boss but Herathi since they changed this. Rares are not a guarantee on them at all as I have had blue/green drops for all the other bosses.
Secondly, it makes me feel a little sick that people play this game this way and like doing the same events over and over again just for a few pixels on a sword and that they would actually want to be made to do that even more for those pixels. I mean really, what has humanity come to. Im serious, what is with these people?
First off wish, those are exploits getting into a tower/keep. Which IMO is different. Second this person didn’t have to use any skills, just jump. He didn’t exploit any horizontal/tracking/teleport ability he simply jumped up a rock. If you were to call that spot an exploit then you need to call that whole wall an exploit because it is the same thing.
We all know that wall has bugged textures we all know to check it. Now everyone knows to check the upper piece as well.

This thread is now about me being a baddy as I would like to talk some more about it.
I have the solution. Cap the players per map to 1 per server. This way culling will only make a small difference.
Its because of guesting and the new rewards system for boss chests. Last run on Claw of Jormag we killed him after the walls drop the first time, then his health reset to ~50% and he crashed into phase 3 where he was instantly killed as the zerg ran down the hill before he had done anything. I just constantly mashed 12345 and sometimes the skills worked and fortunately I got credit. Not everyone did.
Some intesene fights in EB, but the lag is really bad, hope this isn’t the new normal.
If I see someone, its like kitten mofos fire all your AoEs there must be a hundred of them. I literally switched to playing Necro because at least laying down some AoE Im going to hit those perma invisibles when I won’t with direct damage.
Please tell me how to do it Fenim. I usually just ignore elementalists when they are near a keep/tower.

I haven’t noticed much of a change in lag. But I have noticed a huge change in culling. Every single fight for me has been oh look there is a guy there lets fight him. Wait theres another… 5 mintues later you realise there were over 50 players there and would not have fought that if you had of known.
I noticed this without having played GW1. I figured it was in both games and was there to make the casuals feel at home.
