Then if they make it much easier to get than the current method, its going to receive some justified rage from people who worked hard grinding the gold to buy one off the TP.
I don’t think the rage would be justified. Anyone not bright enough to realize spending 1500g + for their legendary on the TP is just fighting against themselves.
You characters legendary weapon should be something your character earns for themselves. And there should be a reasonable way to obtain it.
Buying things is no fun. Earning them in game is what makes the game fun. When you remove the ability to earn items for yourself, you’ve taken the fun out of the game.
Oh, I was talking about the precursor, which is what scavenger hunt is for. Not the legendary.
Scavenger hunt is a little late to the party, if it even comes. Then if they make it much easier to get than the current method, its going to receive some justified rage from people who worked hard grinding the gold to buy one off the TP.
Perhaps something like this could work. On the other hand, its sometimes better for the top server to team up with either 2nd or 3rd place so that the 2nd or 3rd place can play for 2nd position. I think the concept isn’t considered often enough in game.
Did people really rush home from work early… I am still here at 5:30pm
Im getting them only if they look good. I think quite a few of the legendarys actually look/sound terrible (look at you quip). Right now Im crafting one. Ive put in a custom order for a precursor and have everything else I need. Ill give it to the weekend, if no one takes up my offer Ill reconsider whether to put in a higher offer.
Take the money and run!
While you are correct in nearly everything, if you read that graph correctly, the highest amount of ecto sold is right underneath the 354 mark. Look closely at the graph, the line drops to 0 and only bumps up to show a unique player(s) who sold ecto at that amount. After the 250 mark it only bumps up twice at above the 294 mark and below the 354 mark.
Um… that wouldn’t NEARLY account for the total volume stated. There almost certainly are some zeroes in there, but there’s a heck of a lot of ones required to bring the total to 150,000+
The majority of ecto sold is on the left side of the graph, from about about the 1300-ish sellers @ 2 ecto each to about the 100-ish sellers @ 20 ecto each range (approx. 2500 per data point.) After that it drops to about ~1500 ecto sold per data point until it drops again at ~ 40 ecto per seller. Then it tapers off until you hit the ~100 ecto per seller and 250 ecto per seller bumps.
Here’s Smith’s graph modified to delineate every 100 unique sellers and every 5 ecto increment.
In case you were wondering, there was only about 10-15 sellers at both the ~100 and ~250 ecto per seller points.
I was looking too, with handy dandy googles zoom function lol
On a side note, does anyone else think its funny that a dev or someone tosses a piece of information and people flock to it like a carrot on a stick lol Thus spending 5 pages on analyzing what they were given. Find a toy that they love when they are being fussy, when they are bored with that one find another. I just thought it was funny :P I enjoy reading though, always interesting stuff.
Ive already moved on from analysing the data to formulating another thread topic that might entice them to throw us some more information to analyse.
There is nothing special about the final rest compared to other exotic staffs though, is there?
There is a huge skill variation between players in WvW. The large majority of players don’t know how to play their own class, let alone someone elses.
Have a weekly achievement with 7 tiers? It could work.
Yeah, and each tier completion would reward you with the same rewards as a daily
wow, I really like that idea
Interesting. I was thinking the same about gendarran fields.
And if those other people want more rewards, then they can put in more effort. You know, like doing events, dungeons, fractals, WvW, whatever. Dailies in no way interfere with that and do not impose any kind of “artifical ceiling”.
I meant laurels, not gold or the other currencies. You can get them only by completing dailies and monthlies. The amount you can get is fixed – and low, and there is no way to obtain them faster, even if you put a great effort in the game, much greater than logging off after completing your dailies. There should be more ways of earning laurels, or a way to earn more of them – with DR – but without the absurd ceiling of one per day and ten per month.
Why, exactly? If you really want to deck out your characters with ascended trinkets, do fractals. Laurels are for those who play the game casually, so that over time, they too can get ascended gear.
It was never meant to be a fast or better way to get them. Just a less efficient alternative for people who can’t or won’t do fractals.
As for necklaces, if someone is so fixated on getting a 3% increase to their stats that they feel they’re being punished with the laurel system, I’d say the problem is in their mindset, not the game.
And as far as dailies are concerned, as others have said, they complement your gameplay. There really is no donwside to them. They’re extra. A cherry on top. A cherry that requires literally 15-20 minutes of effort if you’re focused on them, or zero effort if you just play the game.
As far as I know, nobody could care less about ascended per se, nor could they care less about the 3% stat increase, but rather they care about these infusions:
Gilded Infusion Fine +20% gold from monsters
Magical Infusion Fine +20% magic find
Experienced Infusion Fine +20% experience from kills
Karmic Infusion Fine +15% karma
I already have ascended rings on most of my chars. But only because I enjoyed doing fractals. The stats are above are really massive advantages that you can gain. Particularly the gold from monsters. If your like me and have 8 characters, its going take around 8 months to get them for all characters.
I don’t see how this fix anything. The only problem now with the stealth is the culling not the skill. I think anet is making a big mistake here. (I play a guardian as a main)
This is to fix permastealth/stealth stacking. Currently a thief can just cloak and dagger more or less indefinitely and there are many videos on youtube showing it. Mesmers can use decoy, then viel, then mass invis one after the other. The idea is to put a cool down in between stealthing again. There will be a “revealed” status (though I don’t believe anyone mentioned a duration).
This is a problem with the skill because even in a 1v1 mesmers and thieves can disappear for a long time. In fact, trying to take down a perma stealth thief is really tough unless you have the right build (in mesmers case at least because our aoes are very limited, iLeap fails regularly, and there aren’t many ways outside of ileap to keep opponent pinned). Even if you do get immobilize, cripple, etc when they stealth I believe (and I might be wrong) they can lose a condition every few seconds. So really, while you might not lose to one, killing one is a real pain in the kitten – cuz the ones who can’t beat you just run away stealthed.
As for mesmers, we can easily use a trait to cloak at 25% hp, then if we have regen we regen up to 26-27% and the skill will activate again, plus decoy, plus veil, plus mass invis, throw in 3 clones at a time and it’ll be a pain in the kitten as well (though I’ve never seen a mesmer run a full cloak build since you’d be sacrificing utilities that are actually needed to take down your opponent). Not saying we’re OP as I don’t think any particular profession is OP. But it’s highly unbalanced they way it currently is.
So yes, there is an issue with the skill. Culling is an entirely separate issue.
Erm, stealth stacking / perma stealth will still be possible…
Stealth stacking will still be possible if I have read it right. As I understand it, you still will be able to, for instance, pop blinding power, then hide in shadows and then Shadow refuge and as long as you haven’t left stealth you won’t be effected by the debuff. Correct me if Im wrong.
Im kind of in the same place as you right now lorndarken. Not a great place to be
I get about 5 unidentified dyes a day farming Orr. I actually misread this thread before as I thought it was regarding unidentified dyes. I was going to come in tonight and disagree, but then I realised we were talking specifically about dye prices. And Im sure they are dropping.
The unidentifieds I have been looking at for a long time and its a massive swing all the time. I believe this is heavily related to the gift of color which uses 250 unidentified dyes. Ive seen it bounce as low as around 12 silver per and up to 24silver at one stage I believe. Over this weekend I seen them at 13silver and got up to over 18silver in just two days. I think unidentified dyes are actually pretty volatile like this and probably a decent investment to flip on the TP.
I try to play my game without Dailys interfering with what I want to do. On a weekday I play around 5 hours on average. Most weekdays I get towards the end of the night with either 3/5 or 4/5 done. Some days I don’t bother, other days I only have to go craft or do a JP or something simple. If it looks like alot of effort I won’t do it. It kind sux though, personally I would rather a weekly and a monthly rather than the daily, because I find it interferes a bit too much and your really missing out on alot of stuff. Particularly if you are like me and have 8 characters and play them all regularly, you lose alot of karma and gold if you don’t get the laruel items and infuse them asap.
Oh and yeah I actually like the Monthly, its just the Daily I don’t really like. I feel like it cuts into my enjoyment on a daily basis. At least if it was a weekly I could do the bulk of the work on the weekend.
Hey nice work to SOR, only 400points of the lead atm!
because you know you can’t compete with JQ despite having even numbers.
I would love to see how you measured BG has “even numbers” with JQ… Are you Anet’s part-time staff? Or else it’s just a random rant without proof from same Ol’SoR.
Everyone has their own perception of the things, often skewed and influenced by their own position, myself included. Truth is, nobody really knows but Anet. My personal take on the subject, the numbers are not as even as some may think. From what I’ve observed so far, JQ is coasting, and only comes out in force when they feel it’s necessary. But again, even my views are subject to self bias and my position in the situation. Players on JQ may see things entirely different.
I’d tend to agree. Although I see JQ has had to put in a bit more effort than usual since BG’s re-entry into T1.
Ive seen the Maw shaman go down in around 1-2 seconds. Ive seen Jormags wall immediately destroyed as it spawned, see him go to 0% health on first attack and have his health reset to 50% health and crash land into phase 3 were he was immediately killed before he was able to do anything. I joined in sparkfly fen overflow today. Prior to today, (im pretty sure) I had never joined an overflow outside of Lions Arch.
Soloing camps is possible with all classes, I can confirm that. You can always be useful as a solo player as well, but you need to think a bit harder :p To give an example, Blackgate hit our SM in EB a while back (they were in the inner) and I was running a solo build, rather than going in and defending SM I went around to the North side of SM and attacked the players ralling/heading in to SM. In the end I dropped a player and then used that player as bait for other players. In the end I had around 25 players sidetracked trying to kill me and get their players up. I think if you can get into a situation like this you have contributed more than you/I ever could have done rallying in SM for defence. We kept SM this time. We lost it some 20 minutes later but got 2 ticks out of it and I believe it was pulling those 25 players away from the rest of their force that flipped the fight in our favor. But its not brutally obvious. You don’t see big figures all the time. Its harder to measure your achievements beyond" our zerg killed theirs so I contributed to that". But solo players can change the face of the battle.
The silly thing about breakout is that it really doesn’t work as intended anyway. I’ve seen a bunch of breakout events happen. I’ve only seen one of them succeed.
The best use I have seen of Siegerazer is running two breakout events at once, then going elsewhere (whilst a couple of pugs use the breakout) and in the end flipping 3 keeps at once. I think the event works better if you use it to its maximum potential and the enemy doesn’t (by sticking in one big zerg blob). But I agree, its not really working the way I think its intended.
Because they are clearly cutting costs on development
If you’re gonna spew stupid speculative bullkitten like this you better have a source to back it up, because no one is going to take you very seriously.
Just a quick look at Anet’s website shows they are hiring a bunch of people.
Cutting costs on development? Sure does seem like they’re expanding.
It looks cool on a website. Ill bring back a reference that you may not know about. Us gamers in the 1990s played this game called Age Of Empires, an game breaking RTS game. About two years back, a sequel to AOE3 was brought out called Age of Empires: Online, with its Önline component being that it was now an "MMO"in a broad sense and attempted a “profit model”that has been set by games like WoW. At launch, they had multiple server and from the figure I can recall, around 40,000 players online at any given time.
But numbers dropped quickly. Players ran out of content in this “MMO” and “got bored”of playing the same content over and over again. Sound familiar? The forums started to go the same way this one did… players complaining about grinding and lack of content and expressing frustration with lack of development. And a common argument for them was to link these “complainers who are obviously delusional”to a website where they were actually recruiting more developers. Over a year ago now they pretty much realised the game was a flop, shred staff and made the game a free download and completely free to play. The entire time, their staff development for the game had not increased at any point. There were new staff members, but they were just filling the positions that had become vacant.
But Ill pose the same question to you that I did in my last post. If you think they are ramping up development, where is it?
This whole discussion about them ‘cutting costs’ or whatever is unfounded. As a matter of fact, if you check their website, they’re ramping up on employees for different aspects of the game and company. Their development team, who we have no reason to distrust, has also on assorted occasions said that they’re not laying off employees or blatantly cutting costs. Go search the dev tracker if you’re curious.
The reason precursors are so valuable is because they are so rare and because demand is so high. Eventually this will drop off as more are added to the game whenever the precursor scavenger hunt comes to fruition, so if you’re not dead-set on getting your legendary right now, save up and wait.
As a side note, I’d really love for them to do another one-off with a Karka-like chest because that was awesome, but who knows what they’ll actually do.
I have played enough games that have gone the same route Anet have gone and they are cutting costs. I have seen so many games in the situation GW2 is in atm and the companies who are running them have claimed they are employing new staff and investing more money into the game and have the players going ök they must be doing this and we just aren’t seeing it", only to see the game flop.
If you want to argue that GW2 is increasing development, than where is it? Flame and Frost? I could have written the code for parts 1 and 2 in a under a full working week, by myself. And thats the content we have had for the last 2-3 months with some minor patch changes. Where is the development?
All classes can get stealth. Should they? As long as its balanced.
Any1 know if this will affect the Mesmer Stealth
Yes, this is affecting ALL stealths. A logical guess would be unless you stack the stealth durations (one stealth skill whilst still in stealth) you will be revealed.
Yes it will. Veil is what is being nerfed here as far as I am concerned.
This shouldn’t affect the Veil gank if your a coordinated team, as long as each Mesmers Veils are within 4 seconds of each other (travel time)
The change effects veil because there is a debuff on stealthing again, so it will need to be more than 4 seconds. With culling removed and the debuff it means you can no longer run through the back line of a zerg without being seen.

I personally see culling/nerf as a buff to my thief gameplay. Why? Because most of my deaths are from mesmers stacking veil okittenerg with warriors in the front line who drop me instantly. Now I don’t have to worry about instant death. I have the freedom to outplay my opponent, which is what I want.

I feel as though I have to go farm PvE for X amount of hours every week to fund playing WvW. I don’t think that should be the case. At a bare minimum, I should be able to self fund my WvW experience with the rewards I get for playing it. I think Anet are doing this intentionally to keep us attached to the casuals.
I don’t think consumables are an issue now. It would be nice though, to get some WvW specific/appropriate ones instead of the PvE ones. 30 minutes isn’t very long in WvW, Id like some high level ones that stack in duration.
Sounds like a nerf to veil stacking zergs to me, which I think is good. I didn’t see many QQ posts about it in here though. I posted a thread stating it was OP and was shot down by people saying it wasn’t OP etc. I think its a good change because from what I have seen you get a few decent mesmers into your zerg and the enemy doesn’t even see you until your dropping their backline.
I may be infracted for this, but as far as I am concerned, Im speaking the truth. Anet have a vested interested in keeping precursors costing alot of coin. Why? Because they are clearly cutting costs on development and adding as much grind to the game to compensate for it. So reducing the cost of precusors by any method would contradict their current outlook towards the game. I think spending coin for a few pixels is a terrible choice, but if you have alot of coin… 600g for a precursor aint going to get much better or worse.
" Because they are clearly cutting costs on development and adding as much grind to the game to compensate for it. "
This really confused me.. Cutting costs and compensating for it with grind..
The idea is, keep people active by grinding (the same content) rather than developing content to keep them engaged.
So your saying they are making the game terrible to keep us playing, and even though that terrible idea would lose all the players, thats okay because they don’t need money to support their company or families for that matter? I guess I’m just confused, maybe its cause its 3am. Because the idea that a company would make people grind to keep them in a game that is (after purchase) free to play and requires micro-transactions to survive boggles me.
lol yeah it must be because its 3am, because you completely misunderstood what I said. Go get some sleep :p
I kind of got this impression that alot of BG see Kaineng as being all buddy buddy with each other and would work together to beat JQ. Not that I think that would happen. When kitten gets real, servers do whats best for them, not any other server.

Depends. When I experience skill lag I can’t do any attacks at all, including auto attacking and healing. Might as well log off or go try a less populated area.
Dead or downed? Personally I think once a player is dead they should not be allowed to stay in the location at all.
so me and my friend would like to get the tittle “golden” she has 100g and i have 100g.. can i get banned for lending her 100g so she can get her tittle.. vis versa …
it’s not a bannable offense
2 of my guild members were suspended. they submitted support tickets and got their accounts un-suspended after a some time.
N sent D 200gold via in game mail, so D could get the achievement for depositing 200 gold into his bank. D sent the 200gold back to N. Both D and N were suspended.
This worrys me. Ive been sending my brother gold to get him “up to speed” because hes newer to the game than me. He will probably start sending it back soon :/
Sadly, SoR can’t even give its real estate away. JQ and BG need to pick up their game already then just come out and fight open field.
We don’t want your real estate. Its tainted.
Seems we have had one for past events like wintersday and karka. None for flame and frost? Is it because there is so much to talk about?
No real grinding in this game unless you want a few ascended pieces/legendary. It’s actually a really short game if you’re not into that stuff, it’s been little over 1 month and I’ve kinda run out of goals to achieve :-\ Needs more long term pull, IMO.
So true. It good to see someone actually acknowledging this rather than being a fanboy or complainer.
I am buying your soul, just 6 gold
Deal. But I want 4g up front and 2g on delivery of soul
Agree with all of the above. Where’s the actual story bit, even a wall of text would be ok at this point.
This gave me a flashback to the 1980’s. I recall we owned this “computer” that ran off tapes. There was this game you could play that was literally a wall of text telling you a story and then you had to chose the next action. I still remember the storyline quite well. We start in front of this pyramid and you work your way through the pyramid. It took us about two days just to work out that if you typed “open sesame” you could get the front door to the pyramid open.
The sad thing is, that was so much more enjoyable and engaging than flame and frost has been. A game that was made over 20 years before GW2 and ran off a very basic TUI, before the technological revolution had really hit homes on a wide scale, is making GW2 look bad.
Assist the Charr guy in killing 250 invaders.
Assist the Norn guy in killing 250 invaders.
Collect 100 trinkets.
Destroy 50 portals.
You forgot the fix 250 signs.
Or you could just apply common sense.
Most necros don’t run pet builds. I find ranger pets more annoying. Even 10-20 of them in front of a zerg is really disrupting
So, using lower resolution fallback models will make legendary weapons useless, because nobody will see those weapons ?
Good enough.true if the game setting you speak of applies to all characters at all times in all places from all points of view!
Culling affect PvE area, lowering setting should let you use those fallback models everywhere.
I think most people prefer their game perform better than see your flashy legendary. Besides those who want to see them can adjust the settings such that they can.
Well, it’s a good reason to invest in a more powerful gaming rig & faster connection so as to enjoy the visual at its intended fullness.
Exactly people can still enjoy the full graphical experience of the game if they have the computer for it. As it always has been with PC gaming and always should be.
From my experience, the skill lag we have all been experiencing in game is related to server lag, not individual PC lag.
20 Necros using full +vitality +toughness +condition damage. All with staff as a main and axe + warhorn alt. Well of blood, Signit of undeath, spectral grasp, epidemic and plague. If anyone ever dies, no matter how many opponents you are facing, there is a problem.
I have the opposite problem. I don’t want to do Arah dungeon, but the “pre-event” to get through is always down and the waypoint is always open. I only want to do the “pre-event”. Maybe we should change servers :p
But yeah do the SM on a weekend and user the LFG website. Doesn’t matter if your dungeon isn’t open. Someone in your group will most likely have it open, if not all of them.
No, this happens all the time. I don’t know how to do it. I’ve read people saying you just spam the waypoint and it will eventually spawn you on there. I haven’t been able to get it to work myself. It is either a bug or hack. At times I get this with 40+ players spawning in like this so my guess is its a bug. Id hate to think there are hackers on a map, let alone 40+.
