Strange to see people opposed to this. Its one of the few changes I actually completely agree with. I like what it does to the current mentality and finally defending will be of some use. Perhaps this would be less prevalent in lower tiers, but AC was really doing nothing in Tier 1 99% of the time. Doors were being busted down on 30-60 seconds and the 3 players manning AC were completely ignored. Now its not just a rush the door affair and people need to think and play a little more tactically.
PS. With the current siege cap problem, Id advise against placing 9 AC on one wall :p
I report these guys as “botters”. I believe Anet want us to take video and screenshots and submit a support ticket with the evidence.
As for the “blobbing” well I guess when you wipe so much all the red looks like a blob when they run over your body.
Give us a little credit. After getting wiped so many times against superior numbers, we clung on and our Mexican commander Vuka chagned his tactics around.
Then it was SORs turn to get wiped. You then decided to log off as you knew we were going to take lake from you
As I recall, from an SoR point of view, everybody was either on, or well past their bed time. Commanders logged, troops logged, and then BG’s force (which had only grown) rolled over those that were left and went about PvDooring their way around SoR BL.
But you know, tell yourself whatever you want after back to back defeats if it makes you feel better.
I’m sorry but an Oceanic guild going to bed at 9pm AEST time means that either everyone is in primary school or they are teenagers/adults and that gave up after a few wipes.
Which one is less embarrassing?
Ill be in bed by about 8pm tonight. I work hard. I don’t find that embarrassing at all. I like to feel good at 5 oclock in the morning and being beautiful I need my beauty sleep.
Do I need to l2P? For real, never had a reasonable run in CM. Every other dungeon is a breeze, but I frequently find my team and myself considering a rage quit. Sure Arah can be rough and it should be being a level 80 dungeon, but CM is just so unforgiving. I don’t know how people can consider this an easy dungeon.
I think there is something Anet could learn from this. Getting players like this into the game is profit. Alot of gaming companies out there do promotional things to get their players active. An example of this is League of Legends, which runs a double experience weekend and emails players that its coming up. But I don’t really see this level of engagement with these “on the fence”players (for lack of a better definition) from Anet that I do see with other gaming companies.
The guild missions and other content (like Super fun adventure box) are doing this on occasion. To give an example, Timberline falls is a place I go to frequently to farm engraved totems because they were selling so well. Now there is a large guild mission right where I farm them (in a cave near it) and Im regularly running into huge guild groups with 400-500 players fighting/defending there. Seems this might have affected my farm also as the totems have dropped almost 2 silver a piece
All I got was you spend 2-3 hours on a weeknight and up to 6 hours on a weekend playing an MMO when you have a family and a job. I think you need to think about that a little more rather than why there is all this apparent hate and/or rage in a gaming forum.
That would ruin one of the core ideas behind WvW. It no longer becomes a moneysink if you remove those. Waypoints are already free.
I am under the impression that the moneysink is in the siege engines
Siege is free.
If you are sick of projectile spam move to a higher tier server, as in T1NA the most common fights are between guilds who run heavy trains. There are a few guilds who do use ranged very effectively (i.e. TW ele-nec cluster kitten), but guilds such as MERC, KnT, FoO, Choo and WM run CC trains that are melee based
I can confirm this. In NA Tier 1 its common when running into enemy zerg your going to run into one of two things, either a bunch of warriors and guardians busting stright through to your backline or a bunch of Necros dropping marks on you.
Time to hit those lemongrass nodes I know of I guess.
Personally i think immobilize is one of the most OP abilities in game right now. There seems to be a bug that comes with it on occasion which cancels your abilities cast because it lets you move and then tells you your immobilized then you cast your condition removal and then it says, but oh you were over there when you were immobilized and reverts you back to a previous location and resets your abilities… all the while the zerg is going to town on you. I am running a Necro with dagger-horn right now and around 100% condition duration. Suffice to say the 4 second base immobilize is a free kill everytime I use it.
I had to log in to like the OP.
Also guys, don’t bring coverage into this. It is an issue, but it’s an entirely different issue that could be resolved by a number of other means.
Its bad for my allied Warriors when I am playing a Necro. My enemies don’t get the luxury of boons.
I just hope the release notes addressing the current problems with skill lag. I don’t care if they reduce the server map cap, upgrade the routers or redesign the maps… but the skill lag has to go if you want people to keep playing WvW.
Skill lag Been taking a break and thats what I come back to. Was quite the let down!
I make a habit of dropping my gear and dancing in front of the enemy zerg in a standoff.
Are you kidding me OP? Guardians got MASSIVE healing power and MASSIVE protection update, and a full invulnerable elite at their disposal. The warriors will have to sacrafice 30 trait points for this. Really just QQ from someone who doesn’t wanna loose their OP profession.
Guardian’s have the same healing power as any other class that wears cleric gear……
Yes they have protection but warriors have close to 100% more hp than guardian does. In general warriors don’t use their defense and tactic tree. But tend to go berzerker and dps traits. Were as guardians use theirs, because the damage dealing trees aren’t very good.
A fully geared cleric warrior with 30 points into defense and tactics has about the same survivability and more healing power than guardian does. Guardian can not pop three 2k heals back to back for the entire party.
Your right about the healing power, but I see what he is saying. As a guardian you are so rarely taking damage that by time you do take damage you can just reset that to full health again and have all your cooldowns back up.
I do have 8 chars at 80 and I do play the regularly in WvW. If anything, a Necro would be my main. Although I play guardian quite regularly. I find there is something very broken about them and needs to be addressed.
Im completely fine with the nerf from WvW perspective. Not too sure about sPvP though.
I like playing classes that are considered an underdog in other games. But in this game, take for instance your examples, I think all 3 of those classes are excellent.
Not sure, maybe its your server. On mine, its like standing shoulder to should everywhere you go.
WvW kills and jumping Puzzle are the easiest on that list. I personally would go for WvW kills. Fractal frequenter isn’t so bad either. Its probably around 1-1.5 hours. You just have to do 2 runs and one extra (not sure if jade maw counts as an extra). I had my monthlys done in the first few days. I think I have everything completed except for “spy on this”.
I actually got this one solo on my Necromancer and theif. I am trying to get it with my Ranger atm, but I think I am going to have to ask for help from players around the area to help me take it down. I have acquired every skill point in the game running solo, but its difficulty comes down to class and timing (IE Balthazar). I think some of these SPs are designed that way to keep people in the area farming for some time before they get them.
Wayfarer and Queensdale. I really really didn’t like the other 3. I would have rated Wayfarer number 1 in the past, but after the Maw timer increase I think Queensdale is the best overall.
In that picture, an elem is using dragon’s tooth to hit the half built siege at the inside of the wall. Anet has nerfed almost all target skills to require line of sight. I think dragon’s tooth is the last one that has not been changed.
Dragons tooth is really useless inwvw
You think? On a number of occasions I have been in defensive positions where I believe taking a tower has been solely done due to utilization of elemantilist skills, not limited only to dragons tooth, melting all of the defensive siege at the start of the attack in positions that every other class could only dream of hitting.
PS. And come to think of it Ive been in positions where this has been the sole reason behind taking alot of keeps and SM in the past also.
Ran into one in Timberline falls a couple of days back. Kind of shocked. I came to farm some Jotuns in a cave and I run into around 150 players going nuts over some champion ettins.
I don’t enjoy PvE, therefore 100% world completion should not include PvE areas.
I am certain WM and RISE have left or are still in the process of transferring their members to Blackgate as I have already fought some of them here in t1.
I believe a few other guilds in Kaineng are either planning to move soon or still indecisive. Who knows? Maybe this is only a slight set back for Kaineng.
Are we sure [RISE] are going to blackgate? Thing is Ive seen about 50 recruiting advertisements in JQ server for [RISE] in the past 24 hours. Or is there another RISE now? Or are they actively recruiting JQ players and then getting them to transfer to Blackgate?
Id love to see more Mystic Forge weapons and more Legendarys. I really want a unique look to my character, but everytime I think about getting a certain item, I see another 50 players running around with that exact item. Not really a unique look then is it so no point getting it
Even though I predominantly play PvP (WvW) and it is PvP in this game that appeals to me the most in any game, I think this is mostly a PvE game. The game isn’t really designed to cater for the “competitive gaming” audience and if it were to aspire to ever do so, they would need to build the game from scratch. The PvE in this game is quite exceptional, sure it has it’s low points, but compared to most it’s really good. Overall, I think the developers really just need to keep alot of good and engaging content for PvE coming out and to keep going the way they were with PvP with small patches and adding some stuff to WvW to keep people going.
Probably my biggest issue with WvW right now is that it is not rewarding to win as a server on a regular basis. The high tier servers are seeing a high turnover (players going inactive for long periods of time) due to boredom and the lack of incentive to keep going and continuing to win. They need to up the stakes on server rewards to keep people motivated to working towards a goal.
I did about 50 yesterday as well. I made a custom sell order of half way between the highest buy order and the lowest sell order, which was around 37.4 silver at the time. All swords sold within 2 minutes. Considering selling the materials straight up was going to sell for around 28.4 silver, I made an additional profit of around 4.5 gold.
Hills is fine. I know its one of the harder to take than other keeps, but knowing this your server should adapt. Each server should be able to take one on each borderlands from the way the BL’s are designed. Knowing what a nightmare it can be to take once upgraded it should be a priority to take, keep and upgrade one of them. Im not sure about the points system though. Its pretty clear Hills is one of the hardest to take, yet you get the same points for Hills that you get for Bay.
Am I the only one who remembers when Jade Quarry suddenly got a large influx of guild transfers and then they shot to first place? I sure hope not.
Let’s not forget that SoR has received their share of guild transfers as well. It all comes with being a tier 1 server.
Don’t forget that they “shot to first place” after being in Tier 1 for most of the games history whilst watching SOS implode and lose over a dozen guilds.
your rng is almost as bad as mine, lets keep praying
I actually want the Tier 6 mats, not the clovers. Want to trade “luck”?
What if they add more legendarys that look different from the existing ones and require charged lodestones also?
I know what you mean about the unique look of legendarys. But I don’t want to see less people get them. I just want more unique looks. I really want my experience in the game to be unique and that includes my character not looking the same as half a dozen other characters standing next to me.
There are so many variables, even with “single target”being stated. I think it would probably be a toss up between Thief, Ranger and Warrior.
Buying T5 fine mats and selling high demand forge-food rares is a pretty decent profit if you’ve farmed some of the mats yourself. That would be the quickest and easiest way to do it.
Oh wow did some research and that does work! Thankyou
So I have been accumulating alot of this. But what can I do with it? Why is it so valuable? I do a calculation on converting it into rares and throwing it into the forge. I don’t particularly like the Mystic Forge, but I did it to speculate. The value of one rare would be around 24 silver, as in, if I straight up sold the mats including the 15% sales cost thats what it would work out to. So it seems like rares into the forge aren’t a good way to go, which I am glad since I hate RNG. But what other options do I have other than straight up selling them on the TP?
The game doesn’t really cater to hardcore players. Its more of a game that caters to casual gamers.
Yes it does effect the drop rate of T6 materials. As long as the class has a chance to drop a Tier6 material, then it is increased with magic find.
An example of this is Frostgorge Sound. The Arctodus around the Glacial Collapse region do not drop Vials of Powerful blood (tier 6), but they will drop Vials of Potent Blood (Tier 5). But if you head a bit further North to the Trionic Lattice region the Arctodus there are level 79s and 80s and will drop Vials of Powerful Blood.
One thing to note with this and perhaps some will disagree or not, but in the Glacial Collapse area I prefer a full DPS build and in the Tronic Lattice region I prefer a Magic find build. Why? Because I find in the Glacial Collape region the speed with which I kill Arctodus is substantially faster and in the long run I will get more Vials of potent blood. But its not the same in Tronic Lattice region. I run a full Magic Find kit with food, which comes out at well over 200% magic find.
Others may differ in opinion on that. This is just to point out though, that you have to know and assess the mobs you want to farm. Its all good to have magic find in the right circumstances (see above) but it will decrease your profit in some circumstances.
That said, my personal belief is the best way to farm Tier 6 mats right now is in Cursed Shore. The North Eastern section of the map and down through Shelt/Pent farming anything around that area for heavy moldy bags. In this case, I am fairly sure Magic find does not work on the bags, so you are better off with a full DPS build as long as you can handle the mobs.
They should at least have a reasonable level of survivability. I don’t believe they have to be tanky. They shouldn’t really be getting into positions where they have to take alot of damage. Ive seen it before where commanders build this way and they get into the back or middle of a fight and it really messes things up. Stay on the fringe commanders! Zergs can get wiped just because the commander is getting towards the back of the enemy zerg and getting their lines mixed up.
Another issue is that there is no reliable information as to how conditions stack.
Sure, we know that duration on say burn stack. But what happens if i put a slightly stronger burn on a mob that already has a burn going? Do the person that put on the weaker burn suddenly see his condition damage drop to zero?
All in all, ANet could save themselves a whole lot of computation if they changed conditions so that they didn’t have to track every last bleed at sub second resolution.
What they could do was have the strack be reduced by a set value after each damage calculation. So once per second the bleed stack would be reduced by 1 or more after damage was applied. And for stacking conditions like bleed or vulnerability they could then change it so that condition duration increases directly influenced how big a stack increase you applied. This way you could cram in 200 bleeds and it would still only be a single bleed timer pr mob and character running around, rather than 5000 under current system.
This information is all known and has been sandboxed, just up to those of us in the community to spell it out (on the wiki or other places). If you go through this forum, there are some people who have tested/sandboxed it, but there needs to be one places where this is all stated clearly.
Wow….. Soooooooo many posts…. This musta been a pretty big deal
It was a developing hurricane off the coast that fizzled into a light breeze. Just alot of gossip queens in here.
Most likely you guys had 25 other people afk/puzzlejumping/roaming and you simply misjudged the size of the zerg. Pretty sure the limit is somewhere around 100 people.
Nope, its more than 100. Id approximate around 150. I have played against more than a 100 player zerg before and no doubt about that.
How long has the game been out?
Almost 9 months now.
I’d be interested in knowing. I watched a video from Almars guides three weeks back where he speculated that he thinks there will be a ban wave “in about 3 weeks”. I don’t know about anyone else, but as I casually go up to my mithril ore mine, have a sip of my drink and watch ten other players appear, mine the node and dissappear seems to be a common occurance now.
Thanks for the replies. Yeah I am looking for T4/5/6 mats. T6 materials to keep, T5 and T4 to sell. Quite alot of the fine T4 materials are going for more than the T5 ones, so can’t rule them out
You’re forgetting conditions are not purely about damage; indeed the only conditions that are pure damage sources are burning and bleeding.
Poison serves as both damage, and is a counter to healing and all other conditions don’t even deal direct damage themselves. If condition damage was equal to direct damage, then it’d be a no brainer whether to roll direct or condition – condition, obviously, because then not only do you get decent damage, you’d also get to slap your opponent silly with debuffs for the same gear set
Thus, the average DPS of conditions needs to be lower than the average DPS of direct damage sets.
It’s also worth remembering that conditions cannot “crit” mitigating the need for precision in many condition builds – so, again, conditions give you all the bang for only 1 stat (condition damage), Vs direct damage which usually needs to be tempered with precision AND power
No disrespect but you make it sounds like condition build has so many benefit over direct damage…..
1) condition cannot crit is a disadvantage rather than removing the need for precision.
2) condition can benefit from crits via certain traits and sigil, although not as beneficial as direct damage build.
3) condition damage has an inherent disadvantage that’s taking a long time to do all of the damage and has the risk of being removal.
4) condition build often need condition duration stats which isn’t even available on armor and only available via runes. My zerker war’s auto 1 is probably equals to 20s of 1 stack bleed from my necro. Although you can also say it means 1s of 20 stack bleed but then you have to calculate the time it takes to build that 20 stack.
Not that I disagree with you, but just pointing out that condition duration stats are available on armor. Search for Giver’s.
Sorry I wasn’t really clear in my point. I don’t think it would need a server to “implode” for one of us to drop down, just be lazy for a few weeks. (If TC is able to keep up what they are doing) But I’m sure we both can agree, I doubt either server will slack off enough to let that happen.
There is a good 5-6 week buffer there though. I don’t recall seeing that much of a buffer in T1 before. At least not this year.
Id be very interested to know this. I personally do not know anyone who has ever had one drop. Also, Id love to know how many of them are dropped from events and how many are dropped from the mystic forge.
