I was at the event with the champion elemental bloodstone. I got killed. and when I got resurrected by a fellow player, the initiative bar would refresh is line to give me more skill (using weapon staff daredevil) when it would reach skill 4 the skill would activate by it self the initiative bar would empty it self. it looped like that until I used a way point. then it came back to normal.
It is more than likely an issue in one of the nodes between your router and the game servers. If it was a server problem every single player would have issues not just some. Run pingplotter or traceroute to determine where the issue actually is.
Also posting what server you are on (NA or EU) and at least what country you are in would help others. I’m on NA and in the US and have no connection issues at all.
well when it affect every one and when it affect this web site at same time it is most likely on anet side. yes doing a pingplotter or traceroute can give some info. but when it is every one at the same time it is more then one path with issue.
yes from many month now the map load slow actually some structure like wall of the ebg keep load last. if you go in the guild hall some structure load after you are in if you glide at that time your glider will not appear right away. think it as been like that since hot release. maybe the network latency also affect this. dev would have to look at this to find the issue.
I agree they keep hitting you even if you are very far away or if you use stealth and change direction when gliding they still hit you from miles away with new projectile.

you could try emulate. using f 12 dev tool try other browser. if the web site use string detection to give you a web page one page can be bug and another can work.
I made a web site static scan of guildwars2.com the only thing I could find is 6error css web vendor prefix error, in vendor names this can cause slow down and browser compatibility issue.
with the f 12 dev tool doing test I have script5 error (1,1), from the performance load what takes the most time to load in the forum page is the image on the left side of the screen sprite around 200 to 300 millisecond for each image. if you click on one you can see the vendor prefix error makes lots of ? in a square coding.
they add server or network error on the 25 the day before ls3.
wyvern patriarch event bugged, when he put is shield the egg skill does not work , it say enemy most be targeted to use the skill. and even if you target the patriarch wyvern skill still does not work. was like that for every one trying to do the event.
maybe some bug cause by new glider skill. since the egg skill in that event is also using the glider. Dev. check the code.

There are some changes coming in early August . yes windows 10 anniversary update is coming august 2. it brings something new to the web. tcp fast open, tls false start and tls 1.3, this is suppose to make web connection faster. saving around 50 millisecond by server connection. passing from 3 round trip to make a connection to 1 round trip or 0 round trip. maybe they having something like this in mind. to solve the lag or maybe it is just hazard, that they said: There are some changes coming in early August.
maybe do some bug fixing of the game could help also. like dolyack that are graphically there but not physically there when you try to hit them, or dolyack that teleport.
also why when you get knocked back you get stuck in the floor? can that bug be fixed all ready a couple month doing that. when this happen you try to move does not work, you try to jump does not work. you try evade sometime work some other time not, you try skill that makes you move with the attack you get unstuck.
I have my theory also. the first big patch went good except with the black lion trading company message and the bug of the water bucket to clean garn.
the problem started with the second update.
what as happen is that the security block it since it does not know the file and ask what action to take. so they changed the name of the file updater.
also there is some network error that cause connection issue.
they also add server issue the night before the big pacth so they have some network and server bug to fix . and the second patch as file name issue block by security and also some networking issue.
yep they changed the name of the update file, security does not recognize it and block the update and ask what action to take with this unknow file. so the patch does not patch, if you do not tell the security to install it. and even doing that there is still a network error that came with the second patch. in my case it took 3 try to get back in the game.
I wish there was a monitor with 4k resolution that hit 100hz+ xD
just plug your hdmi cable to your uhd tv. and you can have 120hz or 240 hz depending on the tv.
you would need a dx 12 update for that. don’t forget that gw2 use dx 9. so even if you can send the graphic rendering on a uhd tv or monitor you will not get the best experience from it. you can still have fun making some tweak with the setting.

I keep getting disconnected since the patch, several different error codes showed up the last one was Network Error 1083:5:7:1595:101, i cant seem to fix this, everything else regarding Internet works perfect, its just Guildwars acting up.
yes I got that also 2 time after the second update. keep trying it will work eventually.
something seams bug with the dolyack the graphic position of the dolyack and the real position of the dolyack does not match. you hit the dolyack it takes no damage you it 5 dolyack distance in front and you see damage being done.
notice this on the south west part of the ebg map. rogues camps to wildcreek and golenta to klovan.
not sure about the other one the dev could check it also just in case that it is more then 2 bug dolyack.

Same story here. Got past the “Playable” mark on the initial update then crashed. Now crashes immediately on launch. Was working fine until today.

EDIT: Running repair did not fix the issue.
UPDATE: On a whim, I bypassed my HTTP proxy and the update finished successfully. Not sure why this is so since I have had the proxy in place since I started playing GW2 but something seems to have changed.
I did a packet capture and I didn’t see anything being denied (either in the capture or in the proxy log) so I’m thinking it might be related to the proxy caching but that’s just a guess.
what changed is the name of the download file. since security ask what action to take with this new file.

check if your security on your pc does not block the update.
because it seams that security does not know the update file they probably changed something in the name. doing this your security does not know what it is and if you want to run it and since it is new the security software does not have enough info to know if that file is good or not. so it ask you what action it should take, look maybe in the back ground once you start the update..

next time open the detail and look at bottom of the detail file it can give a hint to what is happening.
since there is a new patch today probably some bug.
I think they changed the way the update is made since my security detected the update as a new unknow file today.
maybe check if the security did not jam the update.
you could do a diagnostic or a repair of the gw 2 client.
you could also do from admin command prompt sfc scan now to see if your pc file integrity is good.
if all fail do a claim ticket to anet.

What makes you think that the lag was solely something under ANet’s ability to control? Internet is getting busy and the infrastructure isn’t growing as quickly as the demand.

I agree ping was over 100 from the map entrance in ebg slow reaction to anything input. in smc went over 150 ping no skill working in smc.
at one point got extra speed on skill #1 more then normal.
maybe some people use speed hack and it cause issue on the server. lag and bug.
also agree that Anet should look in to this ASAP.

I play in wvw with a ping permanently at 130ms or greater.
stop QQing and get over it. Ping isn’t the issue.
well for me my ping is normaly around 60. if I am standing at the ebg map entrance not moving and the ping is over 100 something is wrong. and if every one on the map experience this, then I would say that there is a problem on the server. before you would have lag cause by cpu bound issue, in big zerg fight(to many animation requiring the dx api driver to correct the hazard in high level api for graphic). but last night the lag it was by ping issue.
To pummel home the point, here’s what Process Explorer is saying about it. Note the thread list shows total CPU . Because I’m running on a 4 core/4 thread system, no thread can exceed 25.
yes it also say run better on 2 core. since it use the same engine that gw1 was using on windows xp that use 1 core thread and one hyper thread. one extra logical processor it is still the main core that does the job. even if you get 2 logical processor representation.

on less I am mistaking and they modified the engine to use 2 real core and 2 extra hyper- thread.(dual core) but in that case I think it would say that it work better on 4 core or 4 logical processor. not to confuse with quad core that use 4 core and 4 extra thread, making 8 logical processor when you view it in the task manager.
one thing is sure is that if it use direct x 9 it use only one core thread to send the graphic job to the gpu.
from what I can recall of hyper thread it use ram memory to create a virtual logical processor to processe extra data. then you need more memory to have more core. probably why system today that have 4 core and 4 extra thread have 8 gb of ram or more. also the need for the 64 bits to have more then 4 gb of memory. the more task and process are running the more memory you need.
So having more core and more memory gives advantage even if the game use only 1 core since the other task and process can be split on the other cores even if the game use only one core. free up the traffic on the core that the game use.

Just to physically show how multi-threaded GW2 is, this is my task manager before and after GW2 was launched with my character entering Combat. Mind you this is an i7-QM with 4 cores/8threads.

The game has multiple threads therefore it runs on multiple cores. However whatever thread takes longest to run in a fixed amount of time becomes the limiting factor and that is tied to the core’s performance.
Even Dx11 is limited to a single core once you are down at the driver’s kernel level code. That is one of the major differences in Dx12 over Dx11, it moves a lot of that code out to the user level of the driver which can run on multiple cores, assuming the calls to the driver occur across multiple threads.
multiple thread was out even on single core. the processor was making a fast process switching so that it appears to be running in parallel(illusion). it is not because it as multiple thread that it is using multiple core.
The game uses multiple cores but, like all software, becomes capped at the speed one thread can execute so instructions per second is important. On the other hand there are enough threads to keep more than two physical cores busy so a true quad core like the i5 is better than an i3 with it’s two physical cores but four logical cores because of hyperthreading.
how can the game utilize multiple core if the game engine use only one core and dx 9 use only 1 core?

I have seen some bright area also. I have also seen sometime candy corn node appear and go on different map do not know if those 2 bugs are related.(one thing is sure it is not halloween yet, maybe some left over code from halloween.) why do candy corn node flash for brief moment on the map and some place light up to much, I think their is some bugs that need fixing.
So, I’ve been running into this for a few days now, I’ve tried opening the game in the launcher before the error arrives and it’s gotten me no further, so it’s not just the launcher and I’m no IT genious.
I’ve tried repairing data archive, I’ve tried moving it and opening it from another disc after repairing data archive, and now I’ve deleted all contents and re-installed.
Everything ran smooth until just now and I’m hoping finding out where this serious error starts helps solving the problem if anyone out there has any expertise on this, I don’t think there’s any harmful information on me being leaked if I post this here, but would love a heads up if I should censor some of this information that I post.

in your case I would say that from the last part the error log. there is some http error that is the communication with the server something is bad either from the program or the server or there is http communication error somewhere that cause the issue.
Hey all, just seeing if anyone else is experiencing massive FPS Drops in the game since last night. I was playing just fine when all of sudden I dropped down to 8 fps and it hasn’t gotten better yet.
My resources are nowhere near maxed and the rest of my Programs run great.

fps is the speed of the graphic that you see on screen. dx 9 is what gw.2 is using so updating the dx 11 does not change anything, since it is not what this game use. in game this fps drop usely happen when there is to much animation being done near you(cpu bound issue) since high level api (dx 9 dx 10 dx 11) use the api driver to solve hazard for the dev that make the game. in dx 12 low level api the dev that make the game need to do that part that is handle by the driver before and test it. so on high level api when there is to much animation the cpu is having a traffic jam and the gpu is waiting for the job being sent.
you could check that you do not have anything else running at the same time that use a lot of cpu process use ctrl alt delete task manager and look at what process are running in your cpu. you could have program that run in the back ground that are very heavy on your cpu. example: performance test of your system that makes every thing run at the best performance to see if everything is working fine. other program that are usely heavy on cpu is video or picture editing programs, since they do a lot of math and can have many part or process running to do those task.
another thing that you could do is open the admin command prompt and type sfc scan now that will check your file integrity on your system and fix problem if there is some, if there is still some issue found in the journal report you can do some search to fix those issue.
you could also do the same with the game client adding -diag to the client and starting it will give you a report. you can also try -repair that check the integrity of the game file and can fix error.
another thing you could check is that you are using the NVidia graphic card and not the intel one. since you have a graphic card in the intel processor.
intel graphic use 45% of your system memory and is usely slow for this type of gaming in fps.
you could also do a disc clean up and defrag. disc clean up remove temporary file that use memory on your system. and defrag if you have hard drive it reorder the data on the hard drive so that it can read and write faster.(do not defrag if you have ssd)

Why disable a security program? just check if gw.2 is allowed in the firewall setting.
@Ellieanna – I ran just the 2×8GB sticks for about 1.5 – 2 hours last night and no issue. In my opinion that is not a long enough test period as I have had played that long before without issue with both sets in. I am going to run tonight for about 2.5-4 hours and see the results.
@lilypop – As mentioned above I ran just the 2×8GB last night for 1.5 – 2 hours. I will do a longer test period tonight to see if that helps at all. However I have tested the RAM modules both through Windows Memory Diagnostic Tools and the Memtest tools. Both reported no errors. This is when testing each individually and when in various combinations together. I even went old school and did the old scream test, because yes I still insist on an internal speaker being on my motherboard regardless of the fact of it having a mini lcd to report any issues.
@stephanie – When there are memories of different Mhz it will run at the lower mhz. That is not the case for size, at least it wasn’t when I was studying computer science. Perhaps instead of allowing a continued open environment manufacturers are closing possibilities up. It has been 9 years since I graduated but I keep all credentials up and work for the national leader in computer defense. Unfortunately I’m on the systems analysis and development side of things and not with the hardware team. If only there was a way to get those guys to come to my cube to talk shop about outside builds

The memory might not have errors, but they can cause errors together. Ram is super super picky about everything. Even though they are the exact same, they aren’t because they are different sizes. If you don’t have issues for a long time (try it like that for days) and if you put the other ram back in the issue comes back, you’ll know its a conflicting issue.
actually Ellieanna different module of memory operate at different clock speed and latency there might also be different voltage. in ddr memory ddr2 ddr 3 ddr 4 usely memory work in pair dual channel this double the bus speed to transfer the data to the cpu. so using the same paired memory stick work best. in the case of 4 stick it is 2 pair. and again having the same memory stick is best. best practice is always to get the bigger stick 2 of them to get the dual channel speed benefit. and if you add more you put another pair that is the same. using memory module that are different in speed and capacity will not work best. it was like that 13 year ago and if you go read up on the subject it still work the same. as for ddr 4 it should come out on the market after 2016. since it require new hardware.

My internet connection is a fiber connection with unlimited dl/ul at 60Mbps.
sfc /scannow reports no errors neither does memory diagnostics.
I have also ran the repair utility multiple times.
I think I know what you mean now in regards to remove the 2×4 and use the 2×8. I am assuming, and please do correct me if I am wrong, that you are refferring to my memory. When I studied computer science it was taught that as long as the RAM has all the same specs except the size then it would be able to work together. I am starting to see this may not be the case anymore.

yes for memory unless something changed, I think you should use always the same size of memory. from what I remember if you use smaller bar it makes you run at the limit of the smaller one. would be better for you to put 4x 8. try with 2×8. and later on add two more 2×8.
that is why when I get a system I always get the big bar from the start. more easy to put bar in after with out being stuck with smaller one that you do not know what to do with.
and you always need more memory. the more stuff you do on the system the more memory you use. you start with a brand new system that run maybe 50 process and start adding your program and apps now you are over 100 process running that use memory and cpu ressource.
even using the web it store some stuff in memory also. take a look at browser you get some cookie 4kb.
and now with html 5 they have something to replace cookie in the browser reserve memory 10kb. but those subject are more at dev levels when they write program or web stuff that use some memory to work. the more complex the programming the more cookie it use or the new reserve memory in some browser.
any way just look at dvd 4.7gb then hd dvd 30 to 50 gb. everything grow and take more memory. so adding some when you can is always good. even more when you see performance issue. 8gb is a minimum. adding more will give you better performance.
also add the same kind of ram there is some difference. example ecc and non ecc.

ram frequency. higher frequency gives higher speed. use same speed for all the stick. see computer documentation to use the right frequency since putting higher frequency ram if you do not have the correct bus speed to handle it will not help you.
balance ram vs none balance ram. balance ram is ram that is balance to work best together same speed and latency or very close. non balance is ram that is not tested and balence or ram that have lower spec. having balance ram can give you better performance.
as for the report you are not alone I got one last night to send to anet. same kind as your graphic error. program crash etc. seen it when I have exit the game . maybe better that way since that when you send the error report the game close. weird thing is that the game run even if there is error report that are out. it as been a long time like this. was happy to have no error report. since hot it seams that they have a lot of stuff to fix so we don’t have error report to send to them. since this game use dx 9 high level api and there is abstraction layer and the driver and api correct a lot of stuff for the dev. it might take them very long to solve everything properly. would probably be more easy for them with a dx 12 low level api no abstraction layer and the dev could see more direct what is the issue. but even then they would have a lot of job to do and need some time to get use to that new api more stuff for them to learn.

any system run at the speed of the lowest performance component in the system and this is always the hard drive so consider a faster hard drive consider ssd pretty cheap also. adding memory can also help buy a 64 bits system it can use a lot more memory then 32 bit(3.5gb) gw 2 as a 64 bit client now. for graphic card that do not have their own memory it use 45 % of your system memory also be aware of that.
gw 2 is not optimize yet for multi core cpu but some of the other games that you might want to use can be so get one any way. even if the game does not use it it can split other task being done on the system. also with windows 10 and dx 12 game that are optimize in the future will use that.
also intel cpu i7 have integrated hd graphic on board and with dx 12 there is something new that can make use of all your graphic card on board what ever size or brand.

Hard drive will only really affect boot time on the pc itself and loading screens in most cases, which frankly only matter for super-enthusiasts, especially since Win10 boots so fast even without an SSD.
yes but it is always the slowest component and where is the software that the cpu use on the hard drive. ram in the pc store some data that you use often. when the pc is reset the ram memory is erase. that is why that when you get memory issue 0×8000xxx event and reset the pc the memory is flush and the problem is solve for a little while until the problem that cause the memory issue to happen re happen again. hard drive or ssd write and read time also the bus speed that connect the component to the cpu can make a good difference in computer performance. the system is always as fast as the slowest component in it and it is always the hard drive.

64bit client work better then the 32 bit. you need enough memory. if you use graphic card that as no memory of is own it takes 45% of your computer memory. just saying since I do not know what graphic card you use.(NVidia ti 550 now I know)

why I ask because I know that Samsung are late on their driver for windows 10 even windows 8 it seams. they recommend to not update your pc to windows 10 if it is Samsung because they are late. so you might have some issue if you have a Samsung device.
you might want to go in confidential setting and turn off some of the data that use your internet to send info to ms and partner. like add sense to give you adds on the web for what you are making search about. do you really need that?
as for lowering the graphic will not help much it is a band aid. on less you have a very old pc. since the problem with this game is cpu bound issue. to much graphic job at the same time send the cpu in high usage since the dx 9 is a high level api and it needs to validate and solve the hazard using the api and the driver, and that is also using the cpu. so even if you reduce a little the graphic quality(graphic card job). as soon that there is to many animation and draw call near you the fps drops.
having a good cpu that can go high in ghz can help a lot for this game I would not go in overclocking more then 4.2 ghz(4.3 ghz+ cpu start to fry) since it is bad for your cpu life length intel cpu have something call turbo mode that already overclock to 3.9ghz or 4.2 ghz if needed. does having more ghz solve the problem(cpu bound issue) no. having more then one core also help since other process on your computer can be done on other core even if this game use only one core.(your cpu have 4 core and 4 hyper thread)
also if you have any high performance program running in the back turn them off. performance test software for your pc etc…
doing ctrl+alt + del you can go check what is running how much cpu, memory, network etc.. if you see a program that use lots of ressource that run it can cause issue. just close it when you play if it is not needed.
you should also check your internet connection this game use the web.
in gw 2 click the gear top left + option bottom of the page check your fps and ping. fps is the graphic rendering speed on screen. ping is the connection speed of transfer packect between you and anet server(lower is better).

those are graphic error. anet bug fixing department. same on your first report missing texture graphic content, ran out of space, to small to fit texture object etc…
also if you use windows 10 you could always do a file integrity check on your system. from admin command prompt : fnc scan now. it will check file integrity and fix error if it say 100% you are done if not you can do another command to get the report and go see what was not fixed. always good to do one when you have install new os put new memory added some new update or program. why because if there is some error cause by network or memory or bad file. it fix it.
for the game software you can also do the same try repair by changing the end of the client by – repair and start it, it will check is own file and repair it self if something is missing.
once done remove the change and try to play again.

You don’t have to use a ramdisk. Where did you get this idea from?
I write to a regular HDD which also holds the game files and despite it sounds like I/O bottleneck, it ain’t, because during loading screens there is not much to render (and thus to be processed) and else everything’s cached (that’s what a loading sequence is for after all).I get this idea from the fact that HDDs has been obsolete hardware for years now.
I only have SSDs in my gaming computer and every other computer I own. SSDs however arent ideal to constantly write and read from, so a ramdisk is a more logical option for active back-in-time Shadowplay recording, also given the fact that 16-32gb ram is pretty standard. Unlike what you state, Shadowplay does not use vram for storage. It use a temporary drive location that it will continuously write too. At my settings, I use 3gb out of 16gb ram to record 4 minutes back in time of 60fps 90Mbps 1080p footage.
If you want to record like 2-3 hours of constant footage then sure, use a HDD by all means. I usually only record small clips from roaming fights, duels and skirmishes. Sometimes I combine multiple clips using the tick timer to see when to click the button, lol.
hdds are not absolete hardware. more slow yes. problem with ssd is that you cannot write erase to often or it reduce the life of the ssd. so file that need to be write erase often you should put on slower hdds.
so ssd is for os and program that are going to stay there. hdds is for storage of content that you might erase photo, video, files, trial programs etc…

if you do not have a windows 10 I have read that bandit cam software was one of the best one. other cause lag take to much ressource or you need to pay.
did you see some player going at abnormal speed? what you describe I have seen when some use cheating hack that gives them high speed then other in game it affect the stability of the sync process on the server. if you have seen none check your connection run some test. connection speed, diagnostic network, isp , anet server. use command prompt do ping test see if you have packet lost. do tracert can tell you at what loop the issue is happening.
Hello. I want to build a new PC and I can’t decide which processor to choose. I’ve read that i5 6400 is great budget CPU but gets over-performed by i3 6100 in single-thread. Does GW2 uses more cores? Other choices are older i5 4460 or faster i5 6500. I’d like to pair it with either GTX950 OC or GTX 960 (maybe wait for new generation of GPU). How big will be the difference between i3 and i5 and is it worth the money?
nope at the moment gw2 use only one core it is still using dx 9 high level api and suffer from cpu bound issue. dx 12 will solve that issue but gw2 will need to optimize the game for it. not done yet. that means that when there is to many graphic at the same time the game data is idle on the cpu it is waiting for the api and driver that also use the cpu to solve the game data validation and hazard before it is sent to the gpu. so the cpu go very high in usage and the gpu is waiting for the data.
dx 12 solve this by removing the abstraction layer so the game dev can write and validate and solve the hazard before it goes to the cpu. so that the data will not wait idle on the cpu and will go strait to the gpu. dx 12 also make multiple core communication cpu to gpu possible.
I would say go with i7 3.2ghz+, turbo mode(intel feature overclocking) up to 3.9 ghz official will go the extra mile to 4.2 ghz if needed unofficial. take one that can be overclocked(k model) if you need to do some over clocking. not recommended to overclock over 4.2ghz since cpu start to fry and you reduce the life of the cpu. you also need water cooling to overclock extra cost, if something fail in the water cooling unit and you have a leak, water and electric component not good idea. probably better with intel chip since they are better in calculation then amd, amd a little faster then intel since amd usely make their component linking alittle shorter, but since intel does the math better in comparison it is like the choice between a calculator this is better at doing the math or one that is faster at making the calculation happen, since the end result is what is important you are probably better with a intel cpu,
also i7 comes with hd graphic on the cpu. and direct x 12 will have some performance option that utilize that in the future(have to be put in the game). to use all your gpu power on board.
as for graphic card take one that is capable of dx 12 that is good enough to play gw2. I would not suggest to go crazy in the gpu part since new model of gpu will come out for tier 2 and tier 3 of direct x 12 in the future. so it might not be the best time to invest in gpu. new graphic card will offer new feature for performance. so right now take a dx 12 compatible card.
one thing to consider always when building or getting a pc is that the slowest component in the system is always the hard drive. and the system always run at the speed of the slowest component so that is where you should invest if you want performance. think about ssd they are pretty cheap now have good performance and team it up with a big hard drive hybrid mode. will give you extra performance.
take a 256 gb ssd or more and 1 tb hd or more.
also take a 64 bit system. you can add more memory 32 bit is limited to 3.5gb.
32 bit will probably go away in the near future. if you look in the past it was 8 bit 16bit 32 bit and now 64 bit.
for memory the more the better. also consider that gpu that do not have their own memory reserve 45% of the ram memory to make graphic. the operating system also have a percentage reserve for it to work. and each program or process on your system will use some memory. I would say 8gb as minimum for more performance 16 gb for mid to high performance 32 gb for high performance 64 gb. any more then that right now is for business system that have more then one cpu on board .

it is a game people get all serious and get mad when they loose . the fact is you cannot always win.
Your FPS can affect this, on my old computer people wouldn’t appear all the way and very quickly. With my faster internet and my newer computer things appear nicely.
yes the fps issue is cause by cpu bound issue dx 9 high level api. what happen is that there is to much animation being done and at the place of going right through to the gpu(graphic card) the datas need to be validated and hazard solved by the dx 9 api and driver that also use the cpu. that is what lower the fps. dx 12 low level api should solve this issue since the game dev will have the abstraction layer removed will provide the memory address and make sure the data reach the gpu at right time. all high level api dx 9 dx 10 dx 11 have that abstraction layer and the game devs write is code and the api and driver takes care of solving the issue. problem is when there is to much animation requiring the validation and hazard solving, cause the cpu to go in very high usage and the gpu is waiting for the graphic job to reach it.
having the dev do that part before it reach the cpu will lower the over head(cpu bound issue) since it will go directely to the gpu at the place of staying idle on the cpu waiting to be solved by the api and driver.
as for internet lag yes some people are in one spot and like teleporting around the place. rubber banding. it is because they have a bad connection somewhere between them and anet server.
as for those that cheats and hack to go faster then other player it is a trick network related. something new just came out for that to detect them and punish them if they use those hack. making them pay back the time that they have use once detected. it is use on the new game engine unreal tournement version 4.12 ,probably that anet dev could look if they can find the code to use on their network. could probably help the game network connection.
Networked games are often the target of users trying to gain unfair advantages through exploits. A common, game-generic exploit uses cheat software to speed up how quickly time passes on the game client. Games made using unmodified character movement functionality were susceptible to this exploit, resulting in cheaters being able to move at increased rates.
We have added configurable time discrepancy detection and resolution (aka speed hack protection) to character movement to help prevent these types of exploits.
Detection works by the server comparing client timestamp deltas against the known server authoritative time delta since the last move was received and keeping a running tally on this difference. since every thing is synch with the server to make every one interact at the same time with each other in the game.
1: now you have the game that run slower on client because of the cpu bound issue,
2: you have people that have lagging connection and are slower then the rest of player.
3: and you have some people sometime using hack to cheat making them going faster then the rest of the player.
how can you expect to have a stable synch on the server side?
there must be a pretty big gap in the timing and client resolving on the server.
if they could solve those issue probably that it would solve those issue.

maybe what he refer to is the need to get a group to be able to do the new content like meta event and raiding. sometime it is harder to get people depending on the time zone. some people at the time they play there is not enough people to do big group things. in game some people told me that they add a hard time doing some stuff in hot in the time zone they play there is not enough people to do those things. sometime it takes them 3 week or a month to finally get enough people to do it. that is the problem with meta event or game content that require lots of people. and yes what he said is true that the game said that you could do stuff on your own and participate with out the need to join a party in questing or pve content.
also some for the raids will not take every one they want specific build gears etc… so there is two side to the story. that could also be view as egoistical. what is the more egoistical not wanting to be force to join a group that force you to play the game like they want you to? or not taking people in your party because of your own preference or specific(gear, weapon, build, traits etc..) ? that was also happening in dungeon and in fractal before so it is not something new. people make division out of their own choice. and they think it will help them achieve their goal or that their way is the only way or the best way. if you never got kick in dungeon or in fractal. because some people are impatient they all died and you are the last one trying to finish the end boss and they kick you out with out saying a word. and you ask them what happen and they say to you, you waste our time we do not have all day to wait for you to kill the boss. when they have all die. example: fractal thermanova reactor end boss.
that is probably the kind of problem that makes him not like to have content to force him to be in group to achieve the content.
playing in group can be very fun but some other time not fun at all when some people enforce their rule on other by acting bad and doing stuff to other that they would not like being done to them self.
You are not forced to participate in raid content, nor are you forced to participate in groups that would exclude you. It’s unreasonable to expect a group of experienced players to carry you along.
You claim to be the majority. So find other players of like mind – players who want to raid, but feel there is a barrier to getting started – and start your own raid from scratch. You can learn as you go. Nobody will judge you. You simply have to have the patience to take it at whatever pace your group is capable of.
My guild has only completed 1 boss so far. We raid once per week if enough people show up. Our raiders volunteer to cover required roles. Nobody is ever forced to play a role they don’t wish to play. If we can’t get the right comp, we just don’t raid that week. No big deal.
If that doesn’t sound enjoyable, then go do something else. That’s certainly not a new concept in GW2.

if you are the last one alive finishing the boss and they kick you. is it because they feel inexperienced?
there is always something to learn. if you think you know all and only your way is better then forcing your self on other might not be the right thing to do. since there is some stuff to learn for every one. one thing is sure if you do stuff to other that you would not like being done to your self. when someone does the same thing to you who will you blame?
as for experience I am a vet in gw 1 title champion of the God full hom. in gw 2 over 22k ap wvw rank 3k+ and I started the game late.
I never kicked anyone because I think that I am better then them.
thinking that you can kick other people because you think that you are better then them show you that you still need to learn lots of things and might not be as experience as you think.
as a group it is a collective effort. the one that you kick might be the one that gave you the free ride. at the minimum he contributed to the collective effort. to kick him because he is still alive when you are dead is not helping anyone, it is jealousy and you are not able to deal with it.
when you kick people to show your superiority you have already show your inferiority. that you are blind and do not want to see it, it does not help you and other.
if you want to help other show them what they do not see or understand.

I want to know this.
I want to know what this casual player sees himself doing in an MMO.Do you want to… i don’t know never have to play with others? Because that was something the game promised early on as well: Everyone is your party.
Do you want to never have to do more than to use your auto attack?
Before the whole HoT-discussion in these Forums i saw casual as easy to learn and understand.
As a game that you can get into without much work but that will reward you for getting that one step deeper.But apparantly that’s not it.
Casual, from what i see in these posts, and even in the german forums, seems to be:
I don’t want to have to play with others, i don’t want any challenge what so ever, content should not get harder than Tetris on it’s lowest setting.And i don’t believe that’s what casual means because before HoT a lot of people were asking for harder content, for that tiny bit of a challenge more.
And how exactly does HoT challenge you? It’s one or two counter skills here or there, maybe a bit of CC.
Actually… HoT asks for teamplay, and that it gets bashed for that means for me: Casual means egotistical.
Because the playerbase can’t be asked to see beyond the fence of their frontyard.And you know what? I go solo into the HoT areas every now and then. I don’t see them as that challenging.
If i see a bigger event i ask people to join, they participate, everyone has (hopefully) fun.

Whether ANet will admit it or not, the HoT maps are horrendous to navigate. Even after you’ve been through it, it still very difficult to find your way around. Perhaps after a few thousand visits it might be committed to memory, but that’s not the kind of game I like playing. (Especially at MY age.)
So, and idea: After a character has been through a passage, from then on that passage should be displayed in the mini-map (and the world map) by transparent colored lines. Use one color for higher and one for lower. I recommend green and red.
For color-blind folks, allow them to use dotted or dashed lines.
The further a passage is away from your character, the more intense the color (or more frequent the dots). Or, perhaps, the closer ones are more intense.
The same effects could be used in core for caves, tunnels, rivers, and overhead passages. However, there aren’t nearly as many in core.
Tangle depth is the most fun map of them all but I like to explore the map it might not be the same for every one. I find the chest and stuff on the map the hidden area jp or some npc for special achievement.
maybe the fact that it is made on multiple level gives a higher complexity. and the mini-map does not give a very good result of that. even the big map sometime to find the way point is kind of hard to find being to transparent because it is not on the same level that you are currently on the map.
the only solution explore the map and get to know it better. once you know it well it is more easy to travel. I have went across all map with 9 character. so of course I am getting pretty good and knowing the map. practice makes perfect.
yes some stuff could be better represented on the big map. like way point they could make the way point less transparent even if you are not on the same level. but some time you get a different map part since you are on a different level. not much to do there. on less they add a number on the side of it level 1 level 2 level 3 on the map. would give you idea of where is the map part that you are looking at. maybe something similar on the mini- map. to give example in the grove or rata sum it is multi-level on the map and sometime trying to figure out what is the level and where the place you need to go to is a little challenging well hot map are like that they are more on the vertical compare to the 1 or 2 level map in tyria.
yes it is different from what you are used to yes it is more complex and can take a little more time to get used to. exploring is part of the game. if you would not have to explore and would know where every thing is from the start it would be a little boring and less challenging.
also if you look at the big map you can trace your steps that can help to know where you come from and where you are going. there is a dot where you are and a line that trace the path that you made.

yes but you have to agree that 64 bit was out in 2005.
so it as been around since 11 year. yes I understand that it was new at that time and not many people add the knowledge to make a 32 bit software in 64 bit software and it also take some work.
so I decided to ask the question since we do not have a lot of info. often info is about new content but not much info about optimization and bug fix. or if anet as a team dedicated to this?
what are they working on to improve the game?

well quartz you can get 10 from the queen on the same map there is 3 other node that gives 3 each some time a little more. in home instance minimum is 3 sometime 8. also some time 5 and a charge quartz. so that makes a minimum from 19 to 24 quartz per day.
yes it takes some time to make all you need I know I have made 9 ascended backpack that are time gated and require charged quartz. just do a little part each day. if you rush to finish all in same day of course you will be kitten.
also in some chest that you open you also get some also. in the desert waste land or in hot map. normal or charged one it vary.

in wvw in the home borderland. sometime in the north west camp you have centor that pop up attack the camp and vanish. any one else seen this?
since the centor camp is in the north east side of the map. I think there is a bug there. maybe they are suppose to do something on the north east side of the map and a bug cause them to appear on the west side of the map. someone should look at this.
it seams that in gaming company the team that made the engine is the same team that take care of optimization and bug fix for the life of the game.
since hardware as evolve. multicore cpu. and dx 12 low level api that reduce the overhead(cpu bound issue). does anet have a team working on this?
if it is to much job to make the game multicore. can the game be optimize to dx 12 using only one core to solve the (cpu bound issue) by using the dx 12 low level api?
yes I have experience that a fee time. seams to be texture border issue in the game. usely happen getting in the water or getting out or in stairs or jumping down wall. also seams to happen more often if the ping is not stable when there is lots of lag.
first optimize the game multicore and dx 12 then you can give a lot more content that will run better in graphic and cpu handling. it gives your devs more option to do their job. reducing limitation of 1 core and dx 9.
