sigil of doom
takes down every warrior sooner or later. the rest is movement. don’t stand in the point, don’t get hit by f1,5,4
force him to use his stances and then burst him. it’s an easy and certain win, if the warrior is not worlds better than you are.

sPvP is the name of PvP in GW2 ,oficially, it’s called structured PvP.
the community has adapted the PvP arena modes "Solo Queue" and "Team Queue" into sPvP and tPVP.
there six maps in the game atm, with some only available in solo Q and hotjoin.
in soloQ, also called yoloQ, you Q up alone and your team is usually filled with super dumb yolo (hence the name) shouting offpoint zergers. The random map rotation is as listed:
Temple of the Silent Storm
Forest of Niflhel
Battle of Kyhlo
Legacy of the Foefire
Spirit Watch
Skyhammer
in tpvp, your team is premade. the random map rotation is:
Temple of the Silent Storm
Forest of Niflhel
Battle of Kyhlo
Legacy of the Foefire
the difference to hotjoin is, that you cannot switch the gear or your team, and cannot leave the game once the match has started.
also, if you want big fights on big maps, i suggest you should stick your nose into wvw once in a while

no, because endure pain does not stop conditions from melting and killing the warrior, it does not stop any control effect as well.
even if endure paint plus berserker stance plus balanced stance activated all together, the stability boon can be very easily removed.
so, no.
same goes for ele. if you got conditions and mist form, you die. all three stances have a lower CD than mist form, which is not used anyways, because, guess what? you cannot contest a point while transformed.
yeah, but straight pvpers usually lack the money to exchange into gems, so they have to spend real money on it
well, do you want to roam or are you running in an organized group?
just keep practicing, Staff can actually beat D/D but you’ll need crazy luck and skill to pull it off (luck as in bad opponent).
well, in pvp i consider an opponent beaten, when he gives up or takes too long to cap the node. on some nodes, it’s fairly easy to outplay a d/d ele, since his damage is not the highest and your survivability with staff is nearly similar. plus, you have the same cantrips. that only applies to staff support though. surviving an equally skilled d/d with a zerker staff build is much much much harder. close to impossible, i would say.
I haven’t seen as many staff eles in tpvp ever since they announced the nerf to meteornado though. For a while, it seemed almost meta to have a meteornado bomber ele on a lot of the teams.
i haven’t seen anything else than support staff eles in eu pvp since i myself tried out the meteornado on an offensive staff spec a long time ago. i guess the meta in EU’s very different from NA
(edited by tanztante.6532)
yeah, ele brings not many useful elites, true, but at least there are cool racial elites in pvp.... wait. what?
well, not if they see the thief first.
even though i have to admit, fresh air burst can be frighteningly strong, if you don’t know how to counter it, but to be honest, with a lvl 66 toon even a warrior could have bursted you down in approx 7 seconds. it doesn’t take much skill, when you’re equipped with ascended gear and stack sigils and bufffood etc.
He was downlevelled to 66 as he was in Sparkfly fens when he screened. He is level 80, though we don’t know his gear.
whoops, my bad, haha
i used it like this, before i got my cele armor: knights armor, zerker weapons, the karka shell earring and a cleric one, assassins amulet and all stats rings ( i got those early on)
it’s basically the same as celestial, with less of everything, but it’s not that bad. bufffffffood, bloodlust and stacks will even it out
no need to put a lot of money into it, you can actually get the most stat combos at orr, from the karma guys
(edited by tanztante.6532)
i want to instantly dish out 10 stacks of torment to any enemy who gets closer than 6000 units. plx make this for main hand focus and offhand staff elethief, kthx!
i am so sad QQ
Issue is:
PvP => meh the changes may be a buffWWW roaming => see above
WWW zerg => staff ele will now have 0 elites... an elemental would face the same fate as a phantasm.
PvE => Huge nerf. Despite FGS was indeed OP, could have used a lesser nerf, like spawning just 1 just to give some reward to use a risky profession.
Even PvE players have 0 elites nowWhat makes me extremely sad and angry towards the balance team:
Despite what we might think, both things were tolerated for a long time because they don’t care at all of PvE and WWW.*What caused the changes were PvP players Killing sieges in PVP With FGS and using meteornado on points.*
This is another of the infinite slaps on the face to WWW and PvE players since the changes to Elites are once again PvP oriented.
The balance team has no respect or consideration of 99% of the playerbase, just to follow their esport dream that will never happen.
But the best part has yet to come:
The buff to elementals will cause a further nerf to ele since the ice ele heal will be OP in PvP (and useless everywhere else). Also reason Number 1 why i boycott PvP.
seriously man, you don’t make any sense at all.
there’s not been a single meteornado spotted in pvp for almost... well,... ever? (there was a kittenload of them going havoc while besieging a fort in wvw though.)
eles take down the treb in kyhlo with fgs? it takes the treb to about 60%, but that’s it. you can rarely use the rush twice if there’s a skilled player using the treb. plus, you cannot use it for anything else anymore, since rush+blink nerf.
the ice elem is rarely played, but how an increased heal can be a nerf is totally beyond me.
well, not if they see the thief first.

swiss cheese memory!
nobody said that. well some did, i didn’t. i have to admit, the attitude towards wvw roamers is generally toxic and i don’t like it. BUT! the question was why, so we all stated the possible reasons
we at [vain] took it upon ourselves to sacrifice fame and glory for fun and teambuilding, so we, as a guild, care a lot about our playerbase and we get in a lot of people from wvw, who are very, very capable of playing their profession. not only those so called cheesebuilds like the PU mesmer etc,... . a lot of those genuinely understand their profession and know how to max it out. but again, that doesn’t automatically make them all good spvp players, so we train them and spend a lot of time in lower lower levels with our alt-accounts for exactly this reason. most of them have to simply learn how to rotate and when to engage and when not. not everyone, i never said that.
simply put: it’s a different game mode and you have to adjust your playstyle to it, in order to be successful.
(edited by tanztante.6532)
i never realized that. very, very strange. i don’t mind too much, because fortunately, i have it all but i am sure, they just forgot about those skins and will sneak them back in at some point. that’s not something you do on purpose, trust me.
first off, this post is by no means an an answer to alllll the posts in here, just my opinion on the new way of "getting started"
Dear ArenaNet Employee!
I reaaaaally understand what you’re trying to do. No, really, I do! You want newcomers to have the best experience possible, making them understand the game (well, the PvE part at least) and enable the new players to get involved with Tyria, the lore, the main NPCs and so on and so on. I also understand the following: You want to slow down the game a little, so the new player base doesn’t catch up with you so soon as we did. you do this, by adding a lot of "carrot on a stick" features like collectible titles, wardrobe titles, minipet titles, etc. a clever move on your end and if i were a pve player, i for myself would have really appreciate more things to do while waiting for LS1 for example. cool thoughts implemented in a hopefully cool way.
But sometimes i get the feeling you focus too much on the casual pve aspect of the game. it’s a nice thought, to keep it simple for players who don’t have much time on their hands, but to be honest, those players may buy the game, but the gemstore bucks don’t come from casuals. it comes from people who are very affectionate towards your game (at least I would NEVER spend a single additional buck on a game that i don’t care about as much as gw2). affectionate enough to stay on GW2 for TWO YEARS! That’s really something in days like these, where new MMOs tend to tank in the first 6 months (just look at the two big "GW2 killers" ESO and Wildstar. compared to Tyria, the world there is practically a desert, extinct of all living beings). So you did a lot of things right the first time and you still strive to improve the experience further. There are not many companies out there, who don’t see their game as a big cash cow after release *cough* blizzard *cough*.
But PLEASE!!! think a little bit about us veterans. Implementing cool new features for new players doesn’t excite us anymore. We need challenge! for starters, we need the hardmode from gw1 back. we need elite areas like Mallyx’s Citadel, the Deep, Sorrows Furnace, etc. We need something like the challenges from EOTN, etc. pp.
i KNOW you can do this stuff, i KNOW you’ve had a lot on your hands with LS2, China release and so on, but it’s also been two years and there’s still NOTHING that’s remotely challenging to me anymore. aetherblade path was definitely a step in the right direction and it still excites people to do it, because there’s something very important involved: "elite" skins from the boss chest, that you can only get in the dungeon.
Enough about PvE. (I don’t even really play it, because in fact, it bores me in lack of challenge) Let’s talk about PvP instead.
I want to remind you, you always stated, you want GW2 to become an eSport. Now, even the top PvP players are laughing about this and that makes me very sad. We may not be as many as the PvE or WvW faction, but, if i remember correctly, before release, you were so proud of gw2pvp, it was your baby! your big chance for international fame and glory in the esports scene.
Well, that was before release. today it feels like, we’re some sort of unwanted pet you’d love to get rid of ASAP.
You need to show us some love, mama anet! prove to the players that you DO care. very much so, because i know you do! at least TALK to us, once in a while. "when it’s done" and other vague statements is not a solid customer interaction. involve us. we want to help you to make gw2pvp into an esport! we know it can be done, but you have to listen to the players who actually play the game a LOT more than you.
oh, and don’t invent some shallow excuses all the time like "a lot of the people like this and that" because the people who would even consider participating in esports stuff are the ones who are voicing their opinion in the forums, kittenmit.
i forgot the rest i wanted to say. thanks for the attention and sorry for the wall of text. i get carried away sometimes and you know why? BECAUSE I CARE!
on the one hand, i really support this, on the other, it’s hand alt account unfriendly.
i recently installed dota2 to play it with some friends. have you done the tut? it’s nearly perfect, it’s mandatory and it includes nearly every bit of important information about the game.
BUT, and that’s the interesting and important part: to play with your friends, after that great tutorial, you still have to play 2 or 3 training games against AI and then some 10 games or so in some sort of hotjoin to be able to play ranked.
i think it’s the same for smite, lol, etc. practically tut makes esports kittenezzzzzzz!
TEMPLATES, TEMPLATES, TEMPLATES!!!!!! TEMPLATES OR RIOT!
TEMPLATES, TEMPLATES, TEMPLATES!!!!!! TEMPLATES OR RIOT!
TEMPLATES, TEMPLATES, TEMPLATES!!!!!! TEMPLATES OR RIOT!
i was so so so so so looking forward to having them in this feature patch. it can’t be that hard, kids. just get off your collectible kitten s for once. nobody needs this collections carrot on a stick crap.
yesterday, i RTL’d through the portal on foefire, just to end up at the opposite end of the map first for a very short time, then i fell through the floor and after 1 additional second i was standing next to our node as if nothing ever happened. veeeerrry interesting, but general heavy lag day.
for me it’s ALWAYS the same map rotation
1 skyhammer
2 skyhammer
3 kyhlo
4 skyhammer
5 a spirit watch or
5 b foefire
i would love to test it on more games in a row, because you can’t make a statistic out of 5 games, but i can i only play max. 5 games in a row, because sometimes yolo q makes me get very very angry with people and the world, and i don’t want to build atomic bombs to destroy humanity
make MMR visible, add a little sumthinsumthin to SQ MMR for people with high TQ MMR
that same dev end up killing me in-game on a random day.
/datGrouch
/eff engineers
you must be a horrendously bad player then
the only thing that i could criticize would be the poor audio quality for the skillbar, but meh, you can understand everything karl says. the rest is fine, imo. ok, yes, you could tweak the greenscreen a little, but who gives a crap about the background anyway? i’d prefer a nice GW2 or Anet flag over animated stuff anytime. same goes for the pve spinoff. although kates guests tend to be more on the funny side, joke wise, there’s not much going in ready up. everybody’s always so super serious.
oh, and please, make a "rate your favourite forum post" section for the credits
oh and please, before a huge balance update, invite someone from the balance team to EXPLAIN WHY you came up with some of the balance changes. i think it would be a big step and i am genuinely interested, but i don’t have time to actually play all the professions in every build in every situation
(edited by tanztante.6532)
that’s not the topic here. l2p and QQ somewhere else. this is about bugfixes, and there are a lot of bugs to fix in this game. keep the qq to your other 250 qq threads and keep the bugthreads about bugs only
206.127.159.235
it’s hilarious when you’re fighting a warrior, your screen freezes for 10 seconds and when the lag ends, you’re a moa
fun = exploit
skill = exploit
meh,.... too boring
just remove the ridiculously bugged punishment for hitting your target and i’d be happy for starters
i’m looking forward to actually see more zerker staff eles. they do a kittenload of damage, but at least they don’t have lich form
Rant
you play ele, you can’t switch profession. it won’t work, since all the others will seem almost kittened and boring. don’t lie to yourself, stay true to your destiny!
believe me, i’ve tried the guardian crap you’re trying to pull off. and the engineer crap, ... it’s all just methadone in comparison to the 100% pure heroin of this godlike elementalist.
that’s actually a pretty nice idea.
they even put up a sign how to do it in the SAB hard mode level 1 or so.
only time will tell. if any of the competitive teams run ranger, then it probably will be. we’re all mindless pugs controlled by lord helseth anyway
i congratulate you, good sirs! a perfect display of broken mechanics!
The fact of the matter is they didn’t need to release a "Feature Patch." They could have just patched in all of these changes as they were ready. Putting off these changes so that they could release them all in one patch is lame, as it builds false expectations.
that’s imo the main problem here. i myself thought: yeeah, feature patch, read the topics and realized: oh, yes a feature patch is for game features, not the gamecontent itself and i was quite disappointed for a moment.
On the other hand, if you lose by a big blowout, usually there’s a clear cut reason for it (4v5, enemy team super-stacked etc.) It’s nobody’s fault, and you either just quit (for Hotjoin), enjoy your autobalance victory, or yolo/duel-practice the rest of the match.
haha, you don’t even need a 4/5 or any of the above.
i remember a few encounters, when the matchup system completely failed:
CarCrash around when they were big and we were pvp rank 20 – 005:649 (they just had to kill the lord)
Wiggies Wicked Wang Gang, just before ToL2 signups, we were training 3 new guild members and they really wanted to tpvp with us once, to see what it’s like in the upper levels. 0:500. completely destroyed, hahahaha
49X vs 500 is my fev. no matter which side I’m on.
except, I’m on 49x team and notice that 1 dude on my team cant carry himself.
while others have 100-150 personal score. he only have 35.No need to blame him. its already obvious. XD
if you decap and contest a point for the rest of the game, preferrably against multiple opponents, you often have 10 points and you played a crucial part
This. Personal score is pretty useless. You get more personal score for uselessly killing someone off point, 3x more, than fighting over a neutral point, and you get piddly points for defense (mostly because it barely ever even triggers.) It also rewards teammates uselessly running to a point a teammate is already on and not contested, just to scorekitten for being totally worthless. A player with a powerful burst build can repeatedly spawn kill a weak player and end up with a high personal score, while never doing anything to help with the objective whatsoever.
As for point defense, if you want a higher personal score, it’s more worth it to intentionally flee to allow them to capture the point, fight and kill them off-point, then go and get de-cap and cap points. This is of course a horrible “strategy” that actively makes your team lose. Not that I can recall seeing someone do this, but it’s more to illustrate that you can get a high personal score for doing things are detrimental to your team’s victory. While as with your example, you can be a huge asset to your team’s victory and have a very low personal score.
It’s an atrociously lousy scoring system.
yep, it’s horrible. in fact, i think it’s even making people play worse. especially in yoloQ and hotjoin modes. PLUS! it’s setting new players on the completely wrong trail, that scoring points is actually your goal in pvp. IT IS NOT!
One example: In the past, before feature patch 1, back when ele was still strictly burst only, i have sometimes played a decap engi. i contested far but was never able to kill anybody. sometimes i even held it against 2 medium to three reallyreally bad players. i played 20 matches or so as a decap and we won 19 of them, before i stopped facerolling this horrible build. some games, i came out with 5 or 10 points, but most of the games, i came out with 0, yes, ZERO points, so of course, i did not get rank points, i did not get the tournament win reward, i did not get skins, i did not get anything for it, BUT I WAS THE ONLY REASON WE WON. well, me, the stupidity of the enemy team and of course my teammates who bravely fought 4v3 or 4v2.
i say: remove personal score from pvp, switch it into an active game time check 1/0 display, and add the possibility to report afk in yoloQ
imo, it’s not the CC that makes this map so annoying, it’s the hammer and the fact, that 9/10 matches are in skyhammer.
That is what is so great about it. It does not matter how well you bunker points, it forces you to have to also keep the wild card in mind (the hammer) and devote resources on controlling or containing it.
nononononono, you completely misunderstood! it’s not the hammer itself (the mechanics are fine, if a bit overpowered), but what he creates: raging thief/engi/mesmer kiddies doing nothing else than bashing their skulls in and knocking each other down from the hammer platform. silly 3v1s, in which 3 ppl end up dead, because of one single temporal curtain, that nobody saw in the AoE overkill.
But then again, this would be not problem at all, if you had a coordinated team with voice com. i am starting to think, this map may be better off in tournaments than in yoloQ after all. yoloQ without improved team communications is not viable for skyhammer.
How long has it been since they released temple? That was their last good competitive map.
scroll a few hundred pages back and look at the posts about " remove temple, it sucks, if you don’t remove temple, i’m quitting the game, we are 99% that hate temple.
(edited by tanztante.6532)
Neither it is very supporting for our Guild name,
those gossips go around very quick and sooner or later we’ll be the ‘ddossing Guild ReVo’.somehow, i’ve never heard of ReVo (no offense, i don’t remember names very good), but if we ever cross paths, i will totally remember you guys for this post! cheers! ;-D
Hey, and yesterday, I did remember you! You see?
Oh, I am so proud of myself for remembering a name.
You can’t get the guild armors anymore either, although the Council armors from CM looks similar, some of them still varies, like the guild shoulder is larger and more boss lookin’
really? can you not simply buy them from the guild armor vendor?
it’s a feature patch, not a patchpatch. they only optimize existing functions of the game and do a little rebalancing.
there’s only one answer here, he hates thief, so it’s ele for him. they are the strongest 1v1 classes in tpvp atm
49X vs 500 is my fev. no matter which side I’m on.
except, I’m on 49x team and notice that 1 dude on my team cant carry himself.

if you decap and contest a point for the rest of the game, preferrably against multiple opponents, you often have 10 points and you played a crucial part
it would seem so.
good to know that the pvp team didn’t get pulled off for some living story stuff
imo, it’s not the CC that makes this map so annoying, it’s the hammer and the fact, that 9/10 matches are in skyhammer.
plus, boon distribution.
ok, and now imagine that you do so with multiple characters. the same crap every time you start a new one. hell yeah.
plus, it’s totally boring and definitely not improving the gameplay AT ALL.
how are you supposed to experiment and get better with your profession if you have to go unlock traits all the time.
edit: also, there are people who hate pve and just want to play wvw. fortunately i am not one of them, but it would drive me so mad, i would stick my head inside anets windows and shout: i am mad as hell and i won’t take this trait crap anymore!
i will not even start with the not so few people who actually have mutliple toons of one profession (i got 3 eles, 2 guards, 2 warriors, etc. PLUS i got a second account over at NA). i leveled 8 lvl 80s and i did so with joy, mostly, but since trait update, i didn’t even touch my newly created toons anymore, i hop straight to pvp and just level them to the level, when they can equip shoulders and helmets and all that stuff.
yep, just like they said the same about wow and warhammer online. i lol’d when i heard about eso being a gw2 killer and after the preview, i gave the game 10 months tops to get f2p and another year or so to finally tank. but that’s just my opinion. the only game i can see getting dangerous for gw2 on the wvw side is Camelot Unchained, since most WvW players i know are actually DAoC veterans and will most definitely look into that one.
