i played d/d ele for first time last night in spvp and didn’t die once and i dont even know what im doing. I would just RTL/UD then swap around different attunements spamming buttons then mist/RTL/port if i was in danger. I still prefer my phantasm spec mesmer though.

Its easy to last forever just by using RTL, mist form, armor of earth and lightning flash. The harder part is to actually kill someone.

Full PVT/clerics + monk/water runes + 0/10/0/30/30 results by definition in mediocre damage.

For the record: Bunker D/D ele does NOT deal decent damage.

So if really any1 get bursted down by a bunker D/D ele, then throw away your glass canon stuff and stack some defense.

A normal class has to wait 15 seconds to swap back and forth between just 2 weap sets. Ele can swap to a new set of skills every couple seconds and return to the original set in less than 10 seconds.

No. A normal class has to wait 10 seconds to swap back and forth:

Swap from A to B → 10s cooldown → Swap from B to A

Ele has to wait 15s to swap A → B → A, unless he is skilled in Arcana. 30 Arcana = 9s compared to 10s without spending any points.

Swapping between 4 attunements every couple of seconds is the eles game mechanics. It doesnt come for free. It has the following drawbacks:

1. Most ele skills are on higher cooldowns than the counterparts of other professions.
2. Ele has to decide to go either melee range, mid range or large range. No mixed melee + range weapon sets like other professions!

Taking away the good parts but leaving the bad parts is really not a good idea, bro.

Churning Earth triggered by dodge rolling with Evasive Arcana deals much lower damage then the normal casted spell. However its a blast finisher, so dodge into your fire fields while attuned to earth. Dont waste dodges just for the purpose of dealing more damage.

You rarely get any badges from player kills until you deal a significant amount of damage.

So no, you dont get that many Badges of Honors by just zerging around. Most zerg badges are from tower lords.

Ive earned way more badges from even balanced long lasting battles than from mindlessly zerging.

I’ve played rifle warrior in WvW for ages. IMO the weapon is very well balanced. The lack of utility is compensated with decent single target range dps. Im using a combination of knights + berserkers/ valkyries. Rifle 1 crits for 1000+ direct dmg. Volley hits for 5-8k on average every 8 secs. Rifle 2 is awesome combined with leg specialist. Brutal shot could be either more dmg or casttime decreased.

Dont except rifle alone to be decent in 1vs1. There’s a reason you can swap between 2 weapon sets.

IMO the best overall rifle build is 10/20/0/20/20 with sword/warhorn + quick breathing.

Its decent damage + decent mobility + awesome group utility.

You can deal good ranged damage while being extremely hard to kill. And you can switch rifle to longbow or greatsword, if you get bored.

Mix Knights, Berserkers + Valkyries, so you dont explode to fast on damage spikes.

Rifle shoots faster than longbow. Longbow misses a lot on moving targets. Sure Arcing Arrow is really nice damage, but its slow and misses alot when targets are moving. Volley is far superior damage-wise on single targets.

I played the mentioned 10/20/0/20/20 GS/rifle + axe/warhorn build for month and its awesome.

The best part of the build:

Just swap rifle to longbow for siege battles or large zerg vs zerg fights. All you have to do is swap weapons via inventory + switch tactics trait 1 to longbow.

And when you get bored both from rifle and longbow, just switch your ranged weapon with greatsword + switch crackshot to forceful greatsword.

Its actually 3 builds in 1.

1. Most bursts suck.

Dont know what you are talking about. Sure, GS burst sucks. But Axe, Sword, Mace, Hammer, Rifle and Longbow burst are all awesome.

Axe is great single target damage + Leap. Sword is great condition damage + CC. Mace + Hammer is great CC. Rifle is awesome damage in large scale battles. And longbow is awesome AOE damage + combo field.

Warrior is indeed the best pve class for farming trash mobs due to the 1 skill 100b. But its boring as hell. Warrior skills are super simple and easily readable by opponents in PVP.

If you dont like Eles attunement swapping and skill combinations, then Warrior is probably the right profession for you!

But dont except Warrior to be both a great tank and damage dealer. You have to decide which way to go like every other profession. Glass canon warrior is squishy like everyone else.

Few more defense and hitpoints is barely noticeable.

Downed State in general is fine. Its a strategical element both for offense (killing enemies) and defense (rezzing enemies).

The only problem I see is that large zergs can rezz downed and even dead players in like no time.

Solution is simple: Decrease the max number of rezzers to 3 players. That would prevent instant rezzing for large zergs.

Downed state is a penalty for attackers, so rezzing must be a penalty for defenders. Outmanning should not compensate those penalties!

Do not overrate other classes option to swap between melee and range weapon sets. While it is nice to have both swappable in combat, you become a master of none.

For example take a look at the warrior. To be competitive in melee you are forced to equip 2 melee weapon sets.

greatsword + rifle/bow = no CC/interrupts, no block
hammer + rifle/bow = mediocre melee dmg, no mobility, no block
axe/shield + rifle/bow = no mobility, mediocre CC/interrupts
sword/shield + rifle/bow = no CC/interrupts, mediocre melee dmg
mace/shield + rifle/bow = no mobility, mediocre melee dmg

As you see swapping between melee + range weapon sets is a trade-off for warriors.

Ele is fine. We must decide between (near) melee and range. In turn we get 20 skills with all the goodies (CC/interrupts, burst damage, condition damage, heals, mobility) other professions can dream off.

The grass is always greener on the other side!

Even in the morning (no primetime) its still UNPLAYABLE.

Game is broken since Winterdays patch. Everything worked just fine before. I noticed lags and disconnects (7:11 error) right after winterdays patch went live. Now after xmas its worst, get disconnected every few minutes and it lags like hell.

Same to me. I play since headstart, never had any connection problems.

Problems started right after Winterdays patch. Today its by far the worst day ever. Cannot play longer than 1-5 min until 7:11 error kicks me out of the game.

GW2 in the current state is UNPLAYABLE.

Backbreaker (Hammer 5) Tooltip:

- 1 sec casttime
- 2 sec knockdown
- 30 sec cooldown

I’ve tested backbreaker on various mobs. Knockdown time seems to be 1 sec maximum. Mobs go down and stand up immidiately.

IMO the skill is useless in the current state due to high casttime + high cooldown.

Any1 else noticed?

Triple chop is not cummulative like 100b or Volley. Each hit of triple chop deals 858 dmg. You dont have to do math. Just play the game and you will notice.

Also I dont see a difference in attack speed between chop + double chop and triple chop. Besides proc chance is irrelevant because procs have internal cooldowns.

Thats exactly the problem. There is no cookie cutter build around which is both great for WvW and for chasing thieves 1vs1. Something like mace/shield + hammer is great for 1vs1 but for large scale battles its mediocre due to missing mobility.

This is only true when you down a thief 1vs1 in melee range. What I was talking about is WvW, which is not about 1vs1 but mass fights. When nobody is in melee range of a downed thief, its quite easy for him to survive 15s for Shadow Escape.

IMO the main problem of open field 5vs20 is downed state. You can handle to jump the zerg and down a few targets very fast. But at the same time a zerg rezzes downed players in like no time.

As long as you cannot prevent the zerg to rezz downed players instantly you dont have the ghost of a chance.

More than often thieves die during stealth. When they become visible thieves can use downed 1 for ae crippling any1 trying to stomp them. This gives a huge time advantage for them to use Shadow Escape.

At the end it takes like 20+ seconds to finally kill a downed thief whereas it takes like 5s for everyone else (except eles). Sounds fair? Not at all.

And please dont tell me to AOE thieves in stealth. I AOE thieves all day long but guess what? Range AOEs have cooldowns. So in most cases my AOEs are not ready when thieves go down.

In 99.9% of time I get stomped even before I can even use vengeance (wvw). So I really cant remember of any delay or casttime.

IMO all of our downed skills are entirely useless in wvw, unless you die in a 1vs1. Its so patetic compared to thieves or eles. =(

Many Disconnects Since 12/14 Patch

Hi,

I have the problem of many disconnects since the 12/14 patch came out. After 5-30 min the game begins to lag. I can run around but cannot interact (e.g. using skills or gathering). Then the game crashes.

Last crash was Code = 7:11:3:189:101

I never had any disconnect issues before 12/14 patch. Hardware + Software is all the same as before.

Please help! In the current state, GW2 is unplayable to me!

Endure Pain is pointless against decent thieves because thieves are capable of disengaging from combat at almost any time. All they have to do is disengage with stealth/blink then reopen combat when Endure Pain wears off and is on cooldown.

It just bugs me that much of the warrior traits/utilities/abilities are very much “stock” versions while the other class mirror abilities seem like the luxury/upgraded models.

So true! Warriors are like pawns in Chess.

Just compare warriors unique class mechanics to the other professions. Warrior is ment to be a master of weapons. We can use the most weapons from all professions. And thats it. When it comes to combat we can carry 2 weapons sets like everyone else. We have 10s cd on weapon swap like anyone else (trait is bugged since release). We cannot switch weapons from inventory in combat like anyone else.

So whats the whole deal of being the master of weapons? At the end of the day other professions run around with stealth, steal, minions, blink, bunker builds, pets, traps, walls and all we have is a bag full of unused weapons. LOL

I never won a single 1v1 against d/d eles in WvW. So just trying to run away is the best choice I have. Same for decent guardians and thieves. Luckily 1vs1 is not that common in WvW.

that depends on what you wanna do. gs has 2 gap closers with a combined total range of 1650. sword has just 1 gap closer with a range of just 600 but on a low cooldown (8s). another advantage of sword leap is that you can use it to jump on places you can hardly reach. e.g. you can jump on stones, roofs or over holes. you cannot do this with gs.

IMO sword/horn is superior to gs as a SECONDARY (mobility) weapon set, while GS is great both for damage and mobility as a PRIMARY weapon.

If you wanna go rifle as your primary weapon, I would recommend sword/horn as secondary.

As for as the 10 in defense Reflect Missiles is really awesome when I go up against a Rifle warrior like the OP. Just when you think you are so awesome and I put up my shield not so awesome any more I still haven’t used my heal and you just blew yours.

Any half-way decent rifle warrior knows you have to stop shooting on targets who raises their shield for a block. Sure, reflected bullets hurt but its also fairly easy to dodge.

Of course! You have to kite a lot and kiting is extremely hard without any gap closers like Leap. You can use Leap both for chasing and for escaping your enemies.

Leap is also very handy to get you into the right position for shooting your enemy. You can jump to points which are hardly reachable for other professions, e.g. jump on stones, roofs or over holes.

Kiting decent players is nearly impossible without Sword or GS.

I would go 10 tactics for longbow in WvW, so both Combustive and Arcing Shot are at the same range (1200). Combustive directly followed by Arcing Shot is awesome for WvW siege defense.

But for full range warrior in WvW I would not go for Rifle + Longbow because you’re lacking mobility (no gap closers). Instead I would go Rifle + Sword / Warhorn for mobility. You can switch to Longbow for siege combat by swapping your weapons from the inventory.

I’m a really a big fan of Quick Breathing, I tried hard but just cannot play without it anymore. 16 sec cooldown for warhorn 4 + 5 and condition conversion into boon is so awesome, I just forgot over time how to play without it (poison becomes health regen, vulnerability becomes protection, bleed becomes vigor, …).

What I’ve changed from my original build (see above):

- Switched Attack of Opportunity for Mobile Strikes. I’m not entirely sure about that because warhorn 4 is pretty nice when being rooted and its frequently ready due to 16s cd
- Switched Heightened Focus for Signet Mastery (better Swiftness, Fury, Might uptime even without swapping for warhorn 4)
- Switched Berserker Stance for Signet of Fury (24s cd with Signet Mastery). Passive its 4% crit chance which compensates the loss of Heightened Focus a bit.
- Switched to dual bloodlust sigils for sword/warhorn (cudos to taugrim, seems I rarely miss Hydromancy )
- Bought a longbow for siege. Combustive + Arcing Shot combo is so cool (kudos to Lensar, pretty nice aoe damage ). Its much saver to pull off compared to using Killshot from the wall and I feel it has a much greater strategic impact. With Signet of Fury + Healing Surge you can put off this combo on average every 15s. Im using Sigil of Fire on my longbow for even more aoe pwnage.

tl;dr Rifle Warrior is awesome. Just find your own build and have a blast.

If kill shot is “interrupted, evaded, blocked, missed.” your adrenaline is still full, it doesn’t go away, and Kill Shot is put on a VERY VERY short cool-down so you can almost immediately use it again if you want to.

It works the same way for every single burst skill warriors have. You don’t have 95% all the time. Screen shot or it never happened. Facts are Facts Opinions are not. Most of your so called facts are opinions.

Oh no, I was wrong, I can only get 93% (88%+5% Sigil.) Critical Chance if I don’t focus on it.

Kill Shot: Myth vs Reality

Fact: Warriors take no resources if they miss kill shot, only a short 3 second cool-down.

Wrong. The cooldown is 10 seconds, not 3.

Myth: Kill Shot is hard to miss, you can use frenzy to fire it near instantly and you can also cancel it early if you see them dodge, and then just use kill shot again, if you cancel it the cool-down for it goes on 1 seconds, you can just use it and waste there dodges.

Wrong. If you cancel killshot, the cooldown is 10 seconds, not 1.

Myth: if your target runs away 1500 if you cast it it misses, in fact it travels further then 1500 meters, it travels up to 2150ish meters before it stops, you just need to be 1500 meters to cast it, it also travels very very fast.

Wrong. If the target is at 1501 range at the end of the killshot casttime, the Killshot misses due to out of range. The bullet travel time is the same as for all professions.

However, if your target runs behind a wall, it will miss, and the Warrior will get an “Oh No!” 4 second cooldown and waste no resources.

I will definitely give your build a try. What I dont like about my build is the the wasted slot for balanced stance. Great advice to use adrenaline on shouts trait!

As for sword / warhorn Im using some rares with power/toughness/vitality for max defense. Dont know if this stat combination is also available as exotics?

I found Sigil of Hydromancy for sword extremely useful for better survability. E.g. when jumped by a thief just switch to sword/horn for pbaoe freeze + leap away.

I will definitely give your build a try. Though its very hard for me to give up 20 tactics for warhorn trait after using it for such a long time.

One question Taugrim: Your build lacks any stun breaker or did I miss something? I know its possible to minimize situations where you get stunned by just optimizing positional play. But there are definitely situations where I just need Shake it Off.

Heavy armor + higher HP pool does not automatically make a tanky class. You have to spec for it (defence, tactics) like any other profession. And Shake it off removes 1 condition every 25s. Not that impressive. Whats your point?

1 – Warriors have a signet to instantly gain 3 bars of adrenaline, not to mention the various adrenaline regenerating traits.
2 – it’s 1.75s cast time… And I’d have to assume it is affected by Quickness.
3 – Successfully dodging it does very little since the warrior doesn’t lose adrenaline after failing his ability.

I disagree that perma swiftness, extremely powerful dashes on sword/greatsword, easy condition removal, and highest base defensive stats in the game aren’t good for surviving

Please put some effort into at least coming up with accurate numbers next time

Killshot cannot be compared to other professions skills, because it has much much more drawbacks:

1. adrenaline
2. casttime, therefore hard to land
3. easily dodgable
4. NOT REPEATABLE

Nerf the damage and Killshot becomes entirely useless.

Take a look at all the patch notes since release. You will rarely find any warrior changes! So what sort of attention are you talking about?
