It is the first city, or now an nation with southsun being under its control(and possibly Orr?) to treat every species equally(Not sure if the laws against norn or charr still stand in Kryta.)
The pirates must follow Lions Arch laws, or they will be arrested, so technically they are privateers, operating within the law. They don’t support the Consortium, but they haven’t broken any laws so they have their hands tied.
Canach was harming Lions Arch citizens, so he was a menace, regardless of intentions.
When have they ever competed with local governments? All the major cities support them.
The Mist Wars sounds more like they are defending, not invading, based on NPC dialogue.
They don’t have a trade agreement with bandits. They hate bandits. They just would prefer not getting attacked by them to being at war with their forces.

I vote to “Kielhaul” Evon——————cheap transport is the FUTURE!!!!——————and keys are a “dime a dozen”.
1) Crafting is another skill for characters to have.
2) Like every other skill, it needs to be learned
3) Unlike other skills, “learning” is expensive, since the drop rates for some mat’s (claws. scales, fangs, etc) is negligible——————at best.
4) With the exception of Jeweler and Cook, every craft uses the same “rare drop” items, so that, even if you CAN create an item, you can’t get the mat’s to make more than (1) without a LOT of gold
5) I’d “kinda” like to have a nerd character that does nothing BUT craft (holds swords by the pointy end, can’t string a bow, ALWAYS misspel’s the spell, etc, but is a WIZ at creating !!). Unfortunately, the drop rates just won’t support this type of character——-even within a guild.
Anyone who feels that “winning is the ONLY thing that matters”——-and that others should “let me win so I can get the achievement”————should stop whining and look at the many other ways of reaching the end goal. I needed (2) achievements to reach 16———-one of which was going to be transmuting crystal shards———the other had to come from sprinting. While a win would be nice, I could get the SAME achievement by finishing 3rd, using all seven “uniques”, or FINISHING 25 races———so there ARE choices—-some harder (or more time consuming) than others. (And, yeah—-cuz I’m a stup, it took me 23 races to use all 7 uniques!!)
Will we still be able to “charge up” quartz crystals AFTER the event?? And, ANET, why the restricted nature of charging quartz crystals?? I can understand limiting it to once/day per SITE/ACCOUNT, but with the numbers of SITES available, why not allow each ACCOUNT to use multiple SITES on a daily basis?? (The waypoint cost alone will serve as a limiter). And the limitation on the number of crystals that can be harvested daily will also limit the quantity of charged crystals.
What gives with the ski jumps in Hoelbrak? And are there ANY survivors?
Course it could be that the “flat earth” society was RIGHT after all!!———-and we’re just looking at the backside of the front side!!
My bet is that the Asura have been, again, playing both ends—————-AND the middle—————against each other. The Tengu in LA are guarding their own gate network, and, as Konig has said, could care less about the mountain. Course, they could also be guarding airfields, nucler weapons, space invaders from ?, etc
What is most disconcerting about the “Living Story” format is that NONE of it makes ANY sense—————-there is NO motivation or reason for Dredge and Flame Legion or the Inquest and the Aetherblades (whoever they are) to combine efforts for what?? fun?— just cuz?——boredom?? I mean, new is fine—————but only in context————-without that, new is just so much hot air (useful for airships————and where did they come from?? There is NO evidence of any of the “stepping stones” to flight——-ANYPLACE!!—————-and we ain’t dealing with “magic” here————-this is plain old science!!
My only complaint, as a “solo artist?” (yeah, there ARE other terms you can use) is that this dungeon is too too————too many “gimmicks”, too much “cute”, too much “banzai Kiel”, too much “layered” difficulty (what, Golems aren’t enough——add in a rotating lightning bar that “keel you” and “powerup” the foes—————-still not enough, add another rotating bar)—————-I’m surprised they let both bars rotate in the same direction!!!
Playing in a casual group just won’t cut it————UNLESS they group is “hand-picked” for class and skills—————-“squishies” alone just provide work for Fizz’s cleanup crew!! Not good for a “Life Story” episode——————fine for a fractal, or a perm dungeon, not for a temp “event” that REQUIRES this for the achievement!!
My “peeve” with this puzzle is that it is:
too long
too busy
too contrived
too much of a “good thing”
AND
there ain’t enough recovery areas
AND
everyone AND their brothers are failing at the same points at the same times
Which means:
The “Aethernuts” are spending their time dying laughing—————-instead of playing “ren and stimpy” -or Wily Coyote at his best? !!
I’d love this puzzle if it were “slightly” less creative in scope.
This entire event started “ok” but then just “lamed” out. There was very little “actual” challenge———even the “aethernuts” were weaker than expected (even for a solo adventure) (or my characters are even better than I thought)!!!
It WAS a “nice” party——-but NOT a “great” event
Is this event going to be solo-able?? or another group hug?— not that it makes TOOO much difference, but I “usually” play solo, adding my character’s assist where found and needed.
So GW1 was a linear tale, with a start point and an end point, and with defined foes, friends and hungry wildlife to contend with. Motivations for the various clans/races/foes was “fairly” well-defined, consistent and coherent.
In GW2, I find myself——————far too often————————asking why? Why the splintering of races, what’s the rationale, what are the goals?? In GW2, not only are any answers missing, it seems the questions have never been asked!!
Historically, 200 years is insufficient (timewise) for over 20% (est) of a populace to diverge as has occurred here (Flame Legion, Nightcourt, Sons of Svanir, etc) and become a DANGER to society—————-a vocal minority, yes————-an annoyance to the “Righteous”, maybe——————-a threat, improbable. So far, the “story” of GW2 is fragmented and, in many ways, highly incoherent. Motivations (for any group/race/foe) have not been established or identified (outside of “not us, kill it”). Even when ascribed, motivations “don’t hold water”————“the Dredge hate dwarves because they were dwarven slaves”————but Dwarves ALSO freed them from slavery———and now are “extinct” so the Dredge have only a “concept” to hate without any supporting reality.
We can say “it’s only a game”———-but this one is based on the realities of its predecessor —-——but does not continue the logic of that game—————-instead just “tossing it out with the bathwater”, and replacing it with??
I completed F&F 3x with random groups—————that IMO, was the way the MF dungeon was supposed to work—————-and it was fun—in it’s own way. When GW2 was released, the design was such that the world was set up FOR “random parties” to interact to achieve a goal——-the expansion to “hordes of mongols” attacking the dangerous 2-year old took this idea to the limit ( yes the “Great Karka” did die———-of laughter, probably—————from the massive onslaught—————with a cast of thousands). Realistically, I sat back and wondered what is going on——-is there REALLY a target in that mob?———or is everyone re-enacting a 4th of July ceremony? It worked? (like making omelettes with sledge hammers). Canach feels contrived————-a “Kwiki-mart” fix to a chain store problem. IMO
“Using” the mines ONLY works until Canach detonates them———then you no longer HAVE the time to id and “disarm” the rest————cuz you’re already downed and dead———cuz your “down” skills DON"T WORK
And, don’t bother trying to inflict “conditions”——————Cranach “successfully” evades ALL attacks against him!!!!!! How “thrilling”!!!
I’m not sure it CAN be done solo—————————since Canach is totally invulnerable to ANY damage (even his own mines). —-————-another prime example of the “cure being worse than the disease”———-“yes Igor, the brain transplant was a success———-but the patient died (of heart failure)”
Single-player dungeons—————IF—————designed appropriately, are fine. However, in GW2, this criteria has NOT been met—————————in ANY instance!!! It’s NOT sufficient to “scale-down” a multi-player dungeon, and expect it to work “solo”———the same holds true for “solo dungeons” being scaled-up to multi-player—————-the mechanics and design are just too different to work.

Yes they do, while the rest of you is “flame broiled” your eyes remain perfect———so you can watch yourself become THE flaming ember!!
Well, they both work—————————-slowly, VERRY slowly——————-and it may take multiple attempts to “get it right”. These organs require an “exquisite” level of timing—no gaps between notes—————at all!!!!
Well, it still has “Skill Challenges”, Waypoints, POI’s that need to be “found”. Unfortunately, MOST of them are “group events” that REALLY can’t be done solo——a skill challenge that requires “killing” (3) separate Veteran/Champion foes is a joke——-unless you’ve got a big enough group to overwhelm all of them at once! And, throughout this area, the recycle rate for Risen foes is abominably quick——given their inherent level—————-I mean L-80 Risen Chickens? Can we possibly impose some degree of “reality” here
I’ve now seen two————-came and went faster than I could move————both resulting from events on the island (L80)
As of this AM, “some” (all?) of the Sonic Periscopes are still active, still interacting with the players, continuing to interfere with waypoints, and still dropping audio logs on their destruction. However, the collectors for these logs have “seemingly” moved on to bigger and better? things, and no longer have any access to “free karma” to pay for them!!
I may be paranoid, but could it be—————-nah—————those collectors of audio logs couldn’t have been in the pay of the Dredge and Flame Legion all along———right
It is strange that they all disappeared right before (or very shortly after) the brown, stinky stuff hit the rotary impellor, after the destruction of the secret labs.

New WP in Snowden Drifts—— looks like the start of a “new” Living Story
Since there are only 3 known “killable” giants in the world, why on (name your planet) does the “Giant Slayer” achievement still require 1,000 kills??? I suspect the Giant union would instantly take umbrage at this extinction!!
And what an “exciting”?? finale is planned———————-sitting around the bonfire singing “Kumbya”——————————————-I can’t wait (to hold my nose at this WoT).
Also please note, the bonfire has now been postponed due to a lack of firewood (the refugees used it all)

And, the ticket is a ONE-TIME shot per player (account-bound, NOT soul-bound)——so, if ya got one, ya got em all!!
Those wooden chests are completely “random” rewards————not connected to the actual fight at all————————except they require a fight to appear. As such, these chests DO NOT conform to the “standard” loot drop methodologies———-they appear and disappear rapidly.
Unlike most areas in GW2, the “territories” of ORR are enemy-controlled. As such, the “usual” status for waypoints is to be contested, EXCEPT when Pact forces have achieved an event victory in the area. There are only 3-4 waypoints within ORR that have a constant PACT presence to keep them “open and available”.
IMO—it seems that only 2 of the 3 items in each area appear at any given site. It took me a while, scanning ALL of the possibles, to find the last 1 in both areas. It’s annoying to find that only duplicates of the already recovered items are “findable”, but persistence DOES pay off.
Also note that many of them have a “blind spot” (usually a terrrain feature) that prevents the knockback effect——-but doesn’t stop them from trying. My thief just waits for neutral then bashes them to death quickly!!!
(The effect is “line-of-site”, so any feature that blocks this is effective)——just be close enough to be able to quickly react and attack when it goes “neutral”)
Because the USDA refuses to allow Charr- broiled meat to be re-frozen and re-thawed?

I routinely transmute gear that I’m wearing————of course, once the transmuttal is complete, I have to re-don it, cuz it just goes into inventory. The same holds true for ANY item being used, so far as I can tell from experience.
