It’s NOT just in outposts anymore— now the “infection” has crossed over to WvW as well as a few PvE play districts. Getting VERY annoying!!—————-almost as bad as the (fortunately) few “invisible” WvW players———you know the ones that attack from?? and leave your character just “flailing away” at empty air!!! {{At present, I’ve only noted this “hack” among a very few “RED” players}}————it also seems to “track” well with those characters who retain an “inexhaustible” source of energy for continual “dodging” in WvW and PvP.

Yes, I know this is an older stream but:
1) I’m running Gw2-64 and it works good
2) When I look at my GW2 folder I note that I still have BOTH Gw2 & GW2-64 application files on my system —- GW2 is at ~25Gb while GW2-64 shows ~29Gb.

Since EVERY map includes the “Hearts” as one of the measurements for 100% map completion—(including the Fire Islands)-once they have been completed ONCE, they should NOT reset themselves AND reset the “Map Completion” percentage, because ALL of these “maps” are on the SAME world——and should maintain the same world consistency BECAUSE they serve the SAME purpose world-wide. At this time, I’m “missing” a single POI (the one that can’t be achieved until the meta-event is complete in the volcano)—————and, of course, ALL of the “Hearts”. Since all of us are “tourists” (been there once, done that once, got the tee once), we shouldn’t have to be told "go back and look again at that “boring” area" just so we can create an opportunity to buy some more “tourist trade” junk from a second-rate vendor!!

First: I have NO objection to having to work (hard) to obtain the necessary gear, experience, knowledge needed to create a “legendary”. I also do not object to being able to acquire the necessary items by my effort, or my gold.
What I do object to is being unable to just access the needed fractal to obtain these items. Every time I try, I’m sent to the beginning fractal (you know; the Ascalon “grind”), and discover that to obtain access to the fractal I “need” I’m going to have to “grind” through upteen others first. This may be my “ignorance” showing, but that’s MY experience————-and MY disappointment in the design. Like many, I like this game———-that doesn’t mean I have to like the sidelines———-OR be required to engage in them!! But, a part of this game is the creation/acquisition of better armor, weapons, and trinkets. Every player should have that opportunity———————and the choice of method. My “rant” is due to my discovery that, for example" the “Jade Maw’s Eye” is an “unobtainable” UNLESS —-————-. It must be acknowledged that not all players enjoy, or wish to engage in, ALL facets of this gaming adventure. Preventing them from achieving——————because they don’t want to (Pvp, WvW, PvE, dungeon prowl, “run” Fractals—————your pick) is a stricture that should not “be in play”. There should always be an option (Gold, Gems, Laurels, etc) to obtain the needed items. Comments about “destroying the game’s commerce system” is a fool’s argument. Since items of this nature HAVE no commercial value (except an arbitrary, well-undervalued, “sell”
price, they will have little or no effect on the markets—————except as a high-value acquisition from the TP (who can buy it from the “regular” merchants for “coppers on the gold”)

First a disclaimer: I DON"T DO FRACTALS!! I find them uninteresting as far as the GW2 storyline is concerned———and I find it very difficult to find a party just to do something that I have no interest in!! That being said————————To force players to engage in activities they neither want to do, have an interest in doing, or provides any measurable “progress” to the player character is NOT a positive to this game———worse is discovering that, for example, to further progress in “legendary weapons”, one MUST “grind” their way through countless OTHER fractals before they can “try the one they need” is the BEST way of diminishing your player base that I can conceive of!!! To me, and I’m fairly sure to many others, FRACTALS are little more than an annoying irritant (the same holds true for WvW, Dungeons and PvP——since not all of us are enamored with these segments of the game). I suggest putting the needed gear, trophy, gizmo, etc that can ONLY be obtained in Fractals on the TP at a high enough cost that it provides players with a CHOICE for acquisition. If needed, only allow the TP to purchase those items obtained FROM the Fractal itself—thus keeping the price high

Why not add a “Mastery Point” as an additional “reward” for Map Completion in the Tyria (only) world? This would provide an additional incentive for characters to actually complete their world exploration, AND aid those players who “dislike, are uninterested, or just donwanna” play WvW, PvP, Fractals, or “run” dungeons to still be able to complete the “new” mastery sequence in Tyria. Or——add a “Mastery Point” for each REGION (Kryta, Ascalon, Shiverpeaks, Maguuma) completed by a character (NOT retroactive).
As it is currently, ANET forces players to engage in activities that they are uninterested in playing, which can only serve to drive away those players————a GREAT way of reducing server loads!!! I like “playing the game”————sitting around “LFG” on my thumb doesn’t impress me at all!! But that’s exactly what happens in Fractals, Dungeons, and PvP——————-whoopee!!

What happened?? Are they on strike or something?? Maybe feeling like Rodney Dangerfield?? While you’re at it, why not remove ALL vendors from WvW—including the repair facilities, armor and weapons, and the trading post———-after all, they’re available in the home cities——-aren’t they?

For me, if I’m engaged in an area, a quest, or a story segment, I like having crafters “close by” without having to play “return to sender” to engage in crafting activities.

I don’t do dungeons or fractals and thus am denied the ability to achieve.

You have full access to the all the masteries you want for the content you prefer.

  • Only 40 Core Tyria mastery points are required if you don’t do fractals (since 19 are specific to fractals).
  • There are 49 mastery points available, not including those available in fractals or Triple Wurm (and discounting the duplicates for doing multiple personal stories).

But, once you have “achieved” your personal story line, completed all of the Tyrian explorable areas, and completed the events that can be done “non-group”, you then cannot continue to gain mastery points UNLESS you are fortunate enough to find a group coherent enough to actually work together—————-OR play fractals (again needing a coherent group). At present, there is NO point to creating additional characters———-because they gain the player NOTHING!! of any play-worthy value. No, gold and/or crafting materials are NOT play-worthy. While I’m ranting, the “grind” to create “legendaries” is positively sickening!! 6-8 THOUSAND? geodes? -PER item? If that’s not masochistic, then what is??

I “hope” that one of the lessons “learned” is that “grinding” ain’t fun for anyone——-and HoT is little more than that————-insofar as achievements go. As a basic design, it’s nice—-especially the verticals—————but even that needs work! How many times have you tried to “just jump” and had those kittened “wings” carry you half way across the planet!

What size PS are you using?? I’ve got a 850w ps, running W10, 32GB, on an ASUS board with a MSI R7-370 GPU (4GB memory) and I (ok, personally) haven’t seen this type of issue arise. My suspicion is that your running your ps at almost full capacity————-or may have a faulty ps cable that’s the cause. The best response I’ve noted was to have a “pro” check your system for hardware faults.

Speaking of “masteries”—————-why does the system operate differently in Tyria than in HoT?? In HoT, mastery points can be gained character-by-character, thus allowing the account to master all of the tracks. In Tyria, once a “mastery point” has been gained, that’s it!!———-and that means there are NOT enough available “mastery points” to allow for the tracks to be completed————————-UNLESS the player (NOT the character(s)) elects to play “fractals” and/or “dungeons” and/or PvP. For TOO MANY of us, group play is NOT a viable option—- ok when there’s a crowd that wants to do the same thing—————not so good otherwise. This includes WvW by the way———too often one sees a “follow the leader” group blindly going from a start point to ?? without rhyme or reason.
I’d much prefer having “mastery points” collectible by the character (limited as it is in HoT for follow-on characters) in Tyria as well.

Once an account has gotten a MP in either Core or HoT it can no longer be obtained by a different char. I know this for a fact since my other half was in HoT with a new char just this morning maybe about 2 hours ago and went to a new spot to her with a MP and a HP. Went to commune the MP and it said “nope you already have it” while the HP was still doable since the HP are per char.

No, that’s not “quite” right in HOT. Most of the “commune” points CAN be achieved and mastery points received by multiple characters on an account ( in HoT only). This action does NOT work in the Core (and it should). Agreed, “named” mastery points are achievable ONCE per account in both HoT and Core.

ANET, can you comment and clarify??

Check the ratio of crate to crowbar— it’s huge!! Unless you refuse to open crates, you can’t keep crowbars in inventory. And now, of course, you’re “stuck” with an “airship cargo” in your home space—-a crate that can’t be opened UNLESS you continue to repeat the VB events———————and how does that make any sense??

Now this is today!! I’ve completed the “tiger hunt” with VERY few issues (mainly because I missed one of the spoor clues in Sparkfly Fen). The tigers appeared (erratically, to be sure), but I always found at least one to follow. It “looks” like this “problem” has been resolved.

Well, since ANET was SOOOOO generous in allowing us to obtain a permanent “airship cargo” container for our home base, I wonder why they are SOOOO stingy in providing us with the ability to open it!!! We can buy EVERY other “key” (almost— the tri-key is tough) so why not the crowbar?? Although, from what I’ve observed, the container is almost MORE valuable than the contents!!.

Gliding Bug of Death:
I “suspect” that this is another “unknown” attack mode by either the vines themselves or their Modrem allies. Each time it’s happened to me, it was preceded by a flash of blue light from below my character. In my experience, however, this “event” is too random (seemingly) to allow for any “reasonable” defense action.

The BIG issue in the Tyria section for Mastery Points is that, AT THE TIME they were introduced, MOST players had already completed MOST of the items that NOW provide “mastery points”. What’s left are the points that REQUIRE group efforts to achieve, (dungeons, fractals, etc), which MANY of us don’t play.
It’s one thing to offer “new achievements” but to make them an “our way or the highway” activity defeats the purpose. I don’t do dungeons or fractals and thus am denied the ability to achieve.

I’ve been on Windows 10 (64-bit) since last August without any problems with GW or GW2. I’m now trying the 64-bit beta on GW without issues. Windows 10 IS backwards compatible with previous (XP, 7, 8, 8.1) versions so there should be no issues.

SKill 6 (Healing) autoactivation bug

Anyone else noticing that the “heal” skill (#6) is on autopilot?? I find that it (a) Can’t be “shut off” (b) can’t be changed because it reactivates immediately after cooldown ends.
This issue is happening with ALL of my characters since the last update, and is ONLY affecting Skill 6—————the rest of the skill slots are (as yet) working correctly.

Windows 10 installs itself based on how your previous version was set (32 or 64-bit). Like most other apps, if you try to run it on the “other” version, it won’t—-unless you set it to run in “compatability view”—-then Win10 will emulate your previous OS.

The same condition holds true for EVERY ONE of the WvW daily achievements (excepting killing the supply dolyaks). Again the issue is the existence (or lack thereof) of the objectives. This is a MAJOR bug that needs to be addressed and corrected ASAP.

Tyria Mastery does NOT work IF the account has already achieved 100% mapping of the original game. Even completing a region map with a new character does NOT provide “experience” to the mastery tracks to advance the account-based mastery.

I had the same issue yesterday, and I “think” I’ve found out why. Windows 10 AUTOMATICALLY installs updates, “some” of which require a reboot—————-oops!!
I resolved my issue by changing the update process to allow Windows to update my system while I’m sleeping!! and NOT on the default schedule. Try that and see if it works.

And, yes, it “could” be a hardware issue———usually with the PS————and the fact that this “only” occurs while playing GW2 is not necessarily “true and correct”— there may be other (background) programs that are impacting the ps demand. Remember, GW2 was designed to work under Windows 7, and was patched for Windows 8. It may be that GW2 needs additional patching for Windows 10——especially since W10 works on a “different” model than any previous version.

Does it appear to anyone else that characters are now being marginalized (just like GW) into well-defined positions (front line, mid-line and backline)?? I note that the Druid is now “the healer” in a group, with little (if any) real combat ability while acting in that role. As a Ranger, there’s versatility that’s missing in the Druid. However, in “real life”, Druids were “masters of nature” working with earth and air, creating and modifying plants to serve for food, shelter, clothing, AND DEFENSE/OFFENSE (think mazes to confound enemies, thorns and poisons, insects to attack). I don’t see any of this in the game that’ sin any way utile to the Druid or the group. The same “appears” to hold true for all of the other “new” classes. How about opening these “new” character classes “world-wide”— let ANY character “choose to be” a Revenant, Druid, etc. And let the new skillsets vary based on the ORIGINAL class. A lot of work, yes, but maybe a VERY viable alternative.

Why worry about the ALREADY screwed-up TP?? After all, MOST of the items needed for high-level armor/weapons are already just “names”—because they ALL depend on the multitude of “unobtainables” in the game!!!
The bigger concern that we, the “been there, done that, got the tee” players SHOULD be talking about is the HIGH LEVEL OF CONCERN that ANET has given us—- after we bought this game—now we’re being told to “buy the next one”——————————huh????
As I understand it, while GW2 will now be “free” (albeit “slightly” restricted)————ALL of the restrictions “miraculously disappear” as soon as these “freebies” buy HoT——————and us old hands get a raspberry from ANET (oh yeah, and a new moth eaten suit!!!).
C’mon ANET, try to remove your head from a nether region——-and PLEASE start thinking about those of us who have KEPT you able to reach this point!!

How many daily achievements take laurels? The only one I know of offhand is Daily WvW Spender, and that’s only if you choose to buy something with laurels + badges instead of just badges. And I can’t think of any daily cooldown recipes that require laurels.

As for ascended recipes, ascended gear is meant to be a time and gold/materials sink. So yes, sometimes you might have to save up laurels. But even then, each armor piece’s recipe is only 5 laurels. So, that’s 30 laurels for one full set; and those recipes will still be unlocked for you if you decide to make another set of the same weight class on that character.

Also, you can get 55 laurels per month. That’s more than you could get in a month before the daily changes.

Really? How about the laurel cost for EACH of the insignia’s REQUIRED for each piece and the laurel cost for the 2-3 upgrades for EACH piece Let’s not forget that.
Oh yes, and the cost in laurels for other items (such as weapons??) I respectfully suggest that you take another look at “laurel expense” vs “laurel revenue” and show any means of breaking even in any REASONABLE time-frame. At this point, laurels are becoming another “unobtainable”.

It “makes no sense” BECAUSE the SELLING price of an item is ALREADY in excess of the PURCHASE price (from the standpoint of the TP)—- they’ve ALREADY made theirs when the item sells!! It DOESN’T make sense to charge an EXTRA 15% just to BUY an item to sell at the TP ( unless, of course, you’re a HATED monopoly out to gouge both your buyers AND your sellers)!!!

Think it through, ANET. I have a product you, the TP, wants. I know what my cost was, and I know my expected “profit” from my efforts. What are YOUR efforts that require you to charge ME for mine??
Maybe we should create a “posse commitas” and charge Evan Gnashblade with fraud, operating a criminal enterprise, and grand theft—————and let another idiot try this operation!!

Ok—-aside from the one-time drops, how else does one create a “Lesser Vision Crystal”?
Yeah, there’s a crafting?? recipe (or is it a Mystic Forge recipe)? but NONE of my characters (Tailor, Leatherworker, Armorsmith) has ever managed to do so!! Most
ascended armor needs (1) to be created, so how do you get them?? In this case, the WIKI is less than useful! (It shows the ingredients, but try and use them—-get nada!

Hey ANET—————-have you noticed that ALL of the comments on this “surprise” update are UNIFORMLY negative??
Balancing is wonderful—————-but I wonder————————have the “critters” (and NPC’s) been given as much “loving care” as the characters? If not, just what kind of a fustercluck are you inflicting on us? Why waste time in combat areas for gathering?? ANY “Home Instance” can be set with lumber, ore, and forage so that everything can be gathered in a single place. Yes, if you don’t have the gold, you may need to venture afield for (1) item. Also, ALL of the Home Sites (Rata Sum, Holbrak, Lion’s Arch, etc) have easy to find and reach Vistas- no need to traverse afar for that daily either!

Since Windows 10, in GREAT measure is a “reversion” (with updates) to Win 7, you “should” have no difficulty updating it. This game does NOT rely heavily on the OS, it DOES rely on the Graphics Card, the HD, and the memory. The OS exists to tell the PC what’s what (hardware). Game software is another (completely different) can of worms!!

Since the changes to the “daily” and “awards” sections, I note that Laurels are FAR. FAR overvalued and under-delivered than ever before!!
Someone (ANET) should REALLY take a good look at what “laurels” are used for. The quantities needed for almost ANYTHING of value are virtually improbable of obtaining, since MANY dailies require their usage——-even in small quantities. Most “useful” items (like recipes) require MULTIPLE quantities of these items———-which CANNOT be obtained in any REASONABLE time frame———-does ANET “really” expect players to wait well over a YEAR just to obtain the needed recipes to create “ascended” items? To me, that’s totally destructive to the game and game mechanics. Just another example of the “unintended consequences” that result from poor quality control.

What gives with the “funny” trophy in the “House of Caithe” when completing “The Grove”?? It’s like some kind of number puzzle that just gives a scrap of (junk) paper.
I’ve now got it multiple times with my newer characters and have NO idea what it’s for———-or what to do with it!

Loved the environment design—plenty of variations to work with——-at least on land.
Didn’t try flying like a squirrel—was more afraid of looking like an A-220. s far as the combat went—————-soso. Yes. it’s a Beta, but the foes——mostly—-are pathetic. I ran a Ranger—had NO trouble blowing away anything in my way (using a LB and a SB). Group combat was ok— confusing, scattered, disjointed————just what REAL battles look like——as a combatant, you see ONLY what’s in front of you—-react to threats against YOU, wonder where all of your “friends” are, and worry about where all of your foes are.
I’m going to be REAL interested to see what the final version looks and feels like!!

I have had same problem since last update (1/13/15). I HAVE re-installed my client—————-it just took about an hour of time without any effect that I have seen.
the problem affects my entire system—- no video runs UNTIL GW2 is shutdown (via Crl-Alt-Del).

I’m running an Athlon 631 (4 core) and have not seen any “problems” running GW2—————-aside from the normal “slow” upload of graphics in LA.

I’m getting a routine “black screen of death” when I use portals. Affects EVERY program until GW2 is closed——————-then —-—————-A MIRACLE!! I have video again!!!!
Just reinstalled the client (again)!!!! Maybe that will fix it?!!!

Not “much” of a problem as long as you move to the “protected” fire starter— even the paw attacks can’t hurt there!!—————just don’t try lighting fires at the “open” sites—-you’ll quickly discover how the fly feels!!
Yes, it took a couple of minutes to understand the mechanics———————so look first, act second!!

Wvw Map completion can be very long and frustrating if you aren’t participating in capping places or you are on a server that is constantly losing . My suggestion is to either find a party on each map and join them in capping points, maybe find an active wvw guild for on your server and tag along with them, or wait out rotations.
