nice work anet i must commend whoever thought torment for everyone was a brilliant idea, i mean its so fun having a thief hit you over and over while popping blind fields that are bigger then the indication ring and also being punished for moving around to stop them stabbing me in the back wonderful work!!.
lets not forget that engie i mean its not like they don’t already have enough damaging conditions to splash about lets give them more, awesome. Dont even get me started on mesmers..
condi necros.. although they always had torment it was only tied to one skill now you basically have it on you always while fighting them yay!!
i could go on but you get the point please remove it before it becomes too engrained into the pvp scene..
Necros are in a pretty decent spot in sPvP, but they do currently suffer from problems as being targeted first, as some of our skills are quite threatening, like corrupt boon.
more like because we have 0 defences that stack with numbers .. have 0 defences against cc have a “2nd health bar” that does not stop damage leaching to our real health pool and requires specific skills to build it have long cast times on many of our skills so easy to stop from doing anything.
on a side note if you go to pvp and not wvw then give 62006 a go

i have found that i can cause quite a bit of trouble on engagement with this and most 1v1’s have been fun because i have not been hard countered due to all the condi transfer stunbreak area denial retaliation boon removal lf generation interrupts and damage
with axe 3 after i force a dodge with a well i can hit up to 6-7k damage my lifeblasts do 4-5k damage each hit and an uninterupted transfusion can hit a group for 3-4k each
after getting qite disgruntled with the necro after all the nerfs this build has brought me back to enjoying the class. i have even held a point against 3 enemies (not all at once.. starting off with one then when he is half way someone else turns up then i got them both in downstate and another turns up
you know whats even more fun? when a guard drops it directly ontop of you and you dont have a teleport and no matter what you do it keeps knocking you down over and over and over even if you do nothing………. but when you drop your spectral wall directly ontop of someone they can leisurely walk out of it no harm done
even if i wait for them to waste stuns most will not cast them and just wait at 1200 ranger spawning clones on me
i am happy to los people.. that is the game after all just like the thief gets a free 5-6 second fear stun and boons just for pressing f1…………….
As someone who mains a mesmer and necro I would like to give you some advice. First of all, just because a mesmer has boons doesnt make them pu. They are most likely lockdown. Bountiful interruption is a master trait that gives mesmers 5 stacks of might on interrupt plus a random boon. This trait has no cool down. Halting strike does damage to foes on interrupt. This coupled with all that might can be violent. There is another skill called chaotic interruption that immobolizes plus applies blind, chill, or cripple to an interrupted taget. These skills are the most common skills for a lockdown mesmer to take.
The best way to deal with them is stability which you dont have great access to as a necro. Another strategy could be to bait out the interrupts/stuns because they often have long cooldowns. You can count them. Theres Mantra of distraction which only has 2 charges (3 when traited), has a long cd period and takes almost 2 seconds of cast time to recharge if they blow it. Pistol has one daze, sword offhand has one daze, staff has an aoe daze effect, greatsword has a knockback and focus has a pull. It is possible to dodge most of these interrupts, but you need to be paying attention to what theyre using and be ready.
Another piece of useful information. Conditions like chill, blind and immobolize wreck mesmers just as much as they do necros and a lockdown mesmers wont have a lot of condition clear. Furthermore, like necro, mesmer is vulnerable to knockdowns, knockbacks, fears, and pulls. Mesmers have LESS access to stability than necros but we have more escapes.
A lockdown mesmers power relied on you reacting first. Watch them, theyll try and bait out a skill with a long cast time then bam you panic and get chain stunned, immobied, chilled, blinded while they get 20 odd stacks of might.
Dont be aggressive at th start, just kite and wait for them to make a false move or blow one too many interrupts then be aggressive. Power necro has amazing dps and you can out dps a lock down mesmer any day but if youre not cautious theyll shut you down.
But a fight between a good lockdown mesmer and a good power necro?i would put my money on the mesmer everytime. Its a tough matchup.
The other thing is lockdown builds come in a wide variety from condi lockdown to phantom interrupt builds to power block builds to just normal shatter builds that run lots of interrupts. Just know that there is a large variety of builds out there. I like messing around with glamour confusion lockdownbuild in hotjoin just for fun. I got upto 17 stacks of confusion on a targer one time but too bad the duration sucks haha.
it was definitely a pu build as they always seem to have a bunch of boons after they stealth not to mention the constant use of stealth………….. sometimes they take torch
the problem with cpc is it gives us LONGER weakness then it gives the enemy…… they need to switch that around because the way it is it is more punnishing to the necro to use
even in “tight spaces” its just as bad as on an open field because now they are porting on top of buildings and i cant even get to them…
if the area is more open then i cant even attack them because its 1200 range vs 600
eh… it is the way it is i guess, im not built for 1v1 or i would be useless for my team

they use stow weapon to speed things up on some skills or it could just be me it seemed to take forever to cast i leap till i started stowing during the cast
call your team or run away. also take spinal shivers
i will never get the mesmer low enough for it to proc so it makes no difference plus i usually do take spinal shivers when i was using dagger warhorn and never really noticed it go off or change the fight in any way.
with the axe buff i get a burst every 6 seconds and 10% damage .. it really does wreak havoc when i jump down in the middle of a fight usually taking out at least one person straight away after forcing dodges with wells
i usually run into these mesmers when i need to go take a point of interest like kill savanir or on my way to a fight if i get killed
im running a power build that i have found works in most situations has good synergy with my guild when we pvp and i can make it work while pugging it in ranked if i have an ok team (usually get the most points because im a nuke) it has the standard power stats but takes axe over spinal shivers 62006 gear axe dagger staff, wos, wop, plague signet, lich. unlike the condi build i can beat almost anything 1v1 BUT THIS MESMER SETTUP
they usually have staff,pistol,sword or gs,pistol,sword. i just cant do anything.. they condi me from afar then stealth or do the usual gs combo that you need to dodge =s and then out comes the sword oh look im immobed oh look they cant be attacked because evade evade evade……. cant transfer the immob need to use my heal but that gets interrrupted by a mantra usually ds gets knocked out by the first burst and then i just cant use any skills after that because they all get interrupted.
if i survive all of this then they just pop stealth get the boons and go back to greatsword repeat
what do you guys do against this? if they see me try land some marks out come the interrupts if i fear them they just stealth suggestions? or it it just one of those hard counter things?
necro didnt use to be this bad anet just kept nerfing and nerfing taking away things with 0 compensation what so ever
why do you speak of bp as if you cant just drop it again as soon as they walk out of it…. you don’t have any cooldowns

no ele like all classes = learn rotation then think you are good…. its all i see every time i fight an ele the same thing over and over the only dif from ele to the other classes is you get more bang out of it
does it still transfer when blind is on you?
i was just stuffing around with random builds a decided to give a full signet build and have found plague signet to be rather random =\ sometimes it hits others it does not mostly when i need to use it against a thieves stolen 5-6 second fear while they run behind me going 111111111111111111111111111111111111 but it never seems to hit just wondering if anyone has done some tests with this
and they did it again another nerf combined with some “buffs” that do nothing wow .5 of a sec faster to use my warhorn woo………………… thats so going to turn the tide of a battle
lol trying.. nice one.. if they were trying to make this a viable class we would have some form of healing and a flipping stun break in death shroud. we would have an actual decent signet in healing, we would have better lf generation all round but mostly on condi builds which barely have any,
our gap closers would be instant like everyone else none of this aftercast JUNK we should have at least ONE reflect utility/skill instead of being easy food for rangers
our weapon skills cast times would have been lowered by now look at the joke that is focus 1,1/4 cast time wtf? when i play mesmer i can just cast interrupts on a necro and its guaranteed to work because we barely have any skills that are fast..
there is plenty they can do without buffing the damage numbers to bring a necro into some resemblance of a threat,
axe 2 if they run too close to you it stops working same with focus skills i do it to axe necros all the time just keep really close to them and run inside them and they are basically shut down

how so? you can already have permanent swiftness 0.5 of a second wont change anything ……………. as for the might thing.. they just made a bunch of attacks for other classes pre castable and faster while doing nothing to our already stupidly long cast times
axe is never viable people can pratically make it useless just by hanging around too close to you because if they get to close it cancels out its attacks…
and once again they buff NOTHING USEFUL on the necro if you can even call what they did a buff at all and then go on and make WEAPON SKILLS on the other professions FASTER TO CAST meaning faster dps for them while we stay the same……. congratz anet its not like it was hard enough as it is now…
welcome to the world of necro, there is a reason you dont see many people using this class in pvp.
against rangers your best bet is to warhorn 5 and then dark path and hope it lands or replace spectral walk with spectral grasp giving you two options to get a ranger close
just wondering.. are you having a fun time against engineers as a necro? does it seem as op as the engineer forums make it out to be? lol

your full burst is available every 15 seconds at least, your opponents defensive skills are mostly available every 20 seconds+. if you cant poke your opponent and force them to use their defences leaving them open for an easy kill then i dont know =|
from what i see thief isnt ment to be stab “kitten i win with my 20k backstab” you do need to work for it like the rest of the classes
i guess =\ but it still doesn’t change much since there isn’t any way to teleport without a target and even then the skills we have don’t work vertically and that 900 is still within single gap closers

are you really going to drop that “positioning” dribble on me? i can be standing on the top of a cliff while the fight goes on below and they will always send 1 or 2 people to kill me no matter where i stand or just range me because our weapons are only 600 range.
the only positioning that i can see will work if they are a bit dense is to keep your allies between you and them but that ties into what i said before, you need someone to peel for you all the time.

nope with this build guards just instant teleport to me through trees/rocks/walls shove blind on me spin to win shackle me all with a lovely burn ticking away and me stuck with blind on me for most of it… while they block block block block block block block block block block block =\ because i need to be close to hit them………………………… at least condis kept ticking through it

I don’t think I have ever been melted by a necro then again if im not on my necro I go straight for their one and just cc it and stop it healing. if only my team mates wouldn’t attack it when spectral skills are up then it would be even easier
every day I play I just start to hate this game more and more…. unfortunately I started playing the game while dhuumfire was still a thing but they had already done the nerfs to everything else to compensate for it. I fell in love with necro and levelled it to 80 joined a guild and did lots of wvw roaming/zerging, great times. then the nerfs started to hit over and over and over. while they deemed the other classes too weak and buffed and buffed them (granted they took some small hits not much tho)
now its at the point where the only build that can work in pvp is condi but only if you have a dedicated partner to take most of the hits and try distract them or come up against the right builds.
classes that I found fun to fight against are just frustrating to fight now.. I look at what other classes can do now, how they can abuse the new sigils in ways a necro could only dream of and even have similar skills to what was taken away from necro ( engie ip vs necro dhuumfire) all invulnerable skills (some don’t even lock them out of abilities) compared to what death shroud use to be. they even had the nerve to increase cast times on some of our skills, necro needs shorter cast times not longer@!#@$, I cant count how many times I have been killed/blinded turned into a pin ball in the time it took me to cast a single skill or just unable to defend myself from these things because they can always cast attacks faster then I can get my defences off. everything is just too slow.
now im not saying I cant kill things, I can its just I do it so much easier on say an engie to the point I find it boring, bringing me to my next point I kill necros so easily on the other classes that I have played its just stupid… I have seen what it is like from their side.
point of this? what makes this class fun for you after what has been going on? do I just need to find a dedicated team for pvp to start enjoying it again?
or is there some secret build that isn’t 6xxx6 <—is now dead thanks to ds “bug fix” or x62x2.

if you didn’t notice this stuff happens to other classes too like dhuumfire a condition trait in the power line… and that’s not the only misplaced trait on necros…
they do it to necro all the time so I don’t see how they would have a problem…
It sucks, BUT, it gives anet a change to improve things.
Maybe they re-balance the profession so it is not as dependent on Life Force, or maybe Life Force should always start at 20% when you rezz/spawn.
Either way, let’s just hope Necro gets looked at
Ha, sorry but I highly doubt it. The most anet has done for us is allow us to perform actions in deathshroud, and they still haven’t fixed minions dying when you go down or change level if you have flesh of the master, plus minions not attacking (granted, the last is an ai bug which could screw up the whole game if not handled delicately). Life siphons are still pitiful, dhuumfire got walled off behind life blast, and to help our sustain, they added one second to SoV active and shave 10 seconds off of spectral armor’s cool down.
Long story short, I don’t look to u to get much if anything from a-net regarding necros other than marginal buffs, and bug fixes that only hurt us.

- That was a trait supposed to make up for the big nerf on #1 pistol.
Plain and simple, if they nerf IP, they need to buff pistol #1, which eventualy would lead to more complain about A-pistol.
then make it only work while wielding a pistol…… it will still make up for the pistol nerf when you are using a pistol but it wont work with kits or rifle fair is fair

Yes, Pistol got nerfed pre launch so it will only apply bleed on directly hit targets, not on everybody within the impact-aoe-range.#2:
IP got nerfed twice to be correct:
nerf 1:
Increased burning duration from 2 seconds to 4 seconds.
Increased internal cooldown from 3 seconds to 10 seconds.
Increased activation chance from 33% to 100%.
nerf 2:
moved from adept to master#3: Pistol AA and IP were never directly related and all listed nerfs happened unrelated to each other.
No IP, was never meant to make up for Pistol AA’s nerf, else it would’ve been buffed, not nerfed.
No, IP is not overpowered, as already explained a few posts above.
Yes, engineer is meant to be a luck and rng-based class, so we naturally rely that heavily on crit-procs (even tho a good chunk of elixir-related rng got taken out recently).
This is what makes the class unique:
Hard to be predicted, both for the player and his opponents.And you don’t die to IP usually, you die to the cc-lock, the bursts (Blunderbus /jumpshot / prybar / acid bomb / grenade-barage / a.s.o.), and last, but not least: the crate.
The only reason why you curse about IP so often is because it’s usually the last condition (along with poison) that will stick on you if you disengage from a engi and try to reset, in dire need of a finished cd on your condi-clear.
Ofc you will not notice the 12 stacks of confusion a engi just has put on you since you already spammed yourself into downstate, or the ~15 stacks of bleed that ticked nicely in the background while you were busy to jump around a nadestorm, hoping to dodge the chill-ones…IP is just one of our many awesome mechanics, but not by far anything that solely carries the engi in PvP.

wells no longer scale with lich nor do sigils.. rather pointless against anyone that knows what to do now
i really do not understand how it was over powered for necro to have dhuumfire but its perfectly fine for engies to have basically the same thing and its not even grand master….

That is unarguably a much better approach to the problem then “omg OP nerf pl0x”, regardless of what I think on the matter.
well at the moment im playing (shatter) Mesmer so not having much trouble actually when its a 1v1. mostly because of the range and stealth factor. until they start to run away and reset or that lucky 5 hour stun gets me lasting just long enough to pile everything on top of me -.-… it does become a problem when they pair up tho >.<
necro I find it hopeless tbh everyone says you should just own them on a necro… that might be true if you build specifically to deal with them but then you get squished by everything else =s and that build might work for one but not the other so either way you are stuffed with the increased numbers of them.
it doesn’t help the shocked replies when I say necro is ruined horrible terribad when I then go on to kill most of the necros I come across with ease -.- (they rely heavily on spectral utility and your stupidity to hit them during it lolz..).
cant say much about the other classes yet, only been jumping on them occasionally, but from what I see when other people play its not much fun for them either
and yes I have been using engie myself and have seen what it is like from their end.. not so much ele too much clickity click but enough to know what to look for

lol one that cant have a lengthy argument that has constant counters over and over again over the smallest of things imaginable oh and they over did the sustain these 2 classes have with not many drawbacks other then much much clicking involved thanks to the sigil and cele updates =| especially the burst healing from ele on top of everything else bleah.. supply crate can turn the tide of battle for a point easily giving way too much even for an elite.

odd =\ the last game I had was 3 eles each team an engie thief and Mesmer as well as me on Mesmer lol… gave up on necro till they actually give it sustain >.<
are they the majority of what I end up fighting now in solo q?. nothing has changed about the class mechanics so its not a case of people are suddenly finding them fun to play… there is a reason -.-
eh… a complete corruption necro is not very good tbh =\… at least boon rip is just an added bonus for shatter mesmers if you go all out boon rip on a necro you are stuck with condi and you miss out on utility. if it was necromancers thing it should be added to weapon skills with decent cooldowns
no.. your survivability would go through the roof its already hard enough to do enough damage to a thief using a target only weapon (most weapons with tracking ARE target only) if you want this then they need to give you the necro treatment.. 0 healing allowed in stealth, or like the other guy said skilful play by your opponent should be rewarding unlike the way it is now… (I evaded and got assisted blocks/ used fears 7 times against a thief and they just kept hitting 111222 till it hit where is the skill in that?) obviously not all in one go.

all the soft cc we have is usually made useless through condi cleanses or the ever more popular invulnerable skills that are usualy run by the classes that can use them….
