Such a troll, but I’ll bite. Lick Wounds can be interrupted if the pet takes any direct or AoE damage. Compared to the other profession’s downed abilities, its grossly UNDERpowered.

My wolf crits 5k and with the elite buff + the sigil that gives you more size etc you can do about 12k easily with the number 2 skill of longbow. I can’t remember the names but i CAN take a picture if you want. :P

I’m a glass cannon Ranger and I do about 12-15k on fotm bosses with just my pet buff and it being on passive, no flanking.
Last night I did over 14-18k on the asura golem bosses, Norm ice boss, and Swamp boss. On the Drudge boss where you use lava my best hit was 152k.

roll a thief, or a warrior….sry, but is the truth….i have a ranger full geared, and if you comparewith a warrior or a thief, the ranger is a big shyyt…ranger should have a skill with a nice damage, but only have skills with low damage.
Stop commenting on every thread saying “reroll blah blah blah”. You simply don’t know how to play a Ranger, so yes YOU should reroll, but not the players that can actually learn to play the class.
I played ranger in all MMOs,I WANT TO PLAY AS RANGER ,but THIS ranger, is the worst of all MMORPGS i ever played, sry, but is the truth, i tried to use ranger to deal damage , but you are overdpsed always, you need a really good ranger to beat a normal or bad thief-warrior,, and you cant win against a GOOD thief/warrior the fact is that actually ranger class need a damage buff, and Pet fixes to be able to fight in equal conditions against other classes.
Ranger is underpowered, it is a fact, and this problem is not about good or bad players, perhaps the best ranger build is with traps (really sad we dont have a elite trap skill with high damage).
GreatSword have high damage, but ranger class have too few skills to be able to “escape” from combat so, if you enter into melee you are cannon fodder(you can use SoS , 120 sec cd, 96 traited), the ShortBow have a nice DPS but all other classes need only 1 skill to hit like 7-8 SB autoshots.
Can a Ranger have a High Dps build? yes, ofc, but your build will be always inferior to all other classes, you can say im crying but what i want to say is that Ranger need a balance, need skills with more damage or a better Pet IA.

The closest thing to what you want is a longbow warrior. I suggest you take a look at their longbow and utility skills and give it a good thought.
Longbow warriors are garbage and completely un-viable in a pvp setting.
Go with the shortbow thief as the above poster said, they fit the archer role fine and their shortbow has some of the best bow mechanics in the game for taking people out.
Rifle warrior, you can 1 shot thieves and hit for 12k easy….
Ranger does not have enough damage to be competitive in WvWvW , sad, but true all other classes have more dps than you, I rolled a thief and a guardian to play WvWvW.
now, the best Ranged class is Warrior, kill shot (you can 1 shot a thief) and parabolic arrow (7-8k)are really nice skills (sry but i preffer to hit for 10k 1 time than hit 12 times for 1000.

i have a glass cannon thief lvl 80 full exotic, so, i know that your “nerfed” cluster bomb can hit for 5k+ and you can spam it, your nerfed skill have more damage that ALL the skills that can use the ranger for example, and you still crying because they nerfed a bit the cluster…. heartbreaker was nerfed months ago but since 2-3 days thiefs can hit for 10k+ with it, the fact is that thief is a very good class, thief was above all other classes (with mesmer perhaps)since release, and now that anet is balancing allthieves QQ.
I ca BS. I highly, highly. HIGHLY doubt that you have a Thief, and a level 80 one at that. Unless you’re standing in melee range it’s impossible to spam CB due to the 20 minute travel time of the arrow. During that travel time you can’t fire another one so spamming it simply isn’t possible.
Also, I don’t know how many kittening times I’ve had to say this, but WvW damage DOES NOT COUNT; their are simply too many variables involved. Give me a screenshot of you hitting 5k+ in s/tPvP and I’ll eat my own shoe on video.

when you Defend or attack a keep/castle cluster bomb is spamable 90% of time, and you hit all people around the impact zone.
And Spam means that you can use the skill WITHOUT CD.

No, actually, it never occurs in s/tPvP because there’s a maximum of 16 players on the map at any given time and very rarely are they all in the same area. The game systems are more than capable of handling 16 players.

buff to cluster bomb?? is a joke?? you can hit people for 5k easily + spam the skill, and you really want a buff?? ……
They just nerfed it. Only people you’re hitting 5k+ easily is on glass cannons with 0 toughness or low levels in WvW.

In GW2 stealth is balanced around the very idea of FREQUENT combat stealth.

it matter, because i had been playing MMORPGs for more than 15years, and the stealth mechanic of GW2 is OP, to be able to stealth while you are fighting is OP, the culling/render bug is OP, and 99% QQs about thieves is because Stealth mechanic sucks in GW2.

You can stealth, kill a dude with a combo (i saw 2 or 3 thieves using macros to kill faster), and restealth because you can stealth IN COMBAT, the real issue is that thieves can use stealth in combat mode, first game i see that you can use a stelath skill while fighting, ah, and ofc , the eternal bug of render…, at least thief should receive a movement speed debuff while stealthed but, actually they have a perk to run faster in stealth mode so….
Many games allow you to stealth while in combat, WoW Swtor i think Aion but im not sure about that one. If they implemented a slow to thiefs in stealth it would make backstab impossible to land on any good player, the problem i see mostly is the second a thief stealths people just sit there or back peddle.

Stealth is not invisibility. You can be detected by others. Monsters that detect you may stop in their tracks and turn to face you, or attack you directly. Players that detect you will hear a sound, and will be able to target you. The chance of detection increases as you get closer, but also depends on the viewing angle (stand right in front of an enemy and you can guarantee they’ll see you), the relative levels, and any perception or subtlety modifiers.
Taking any action such as looting or attacking will remove stealth. There are a few exceptions, such as Distract, or Pickpocketing. Also as of patch 2.1.0, sapping an opponent does not remove the rogue’s stealth.
Most damage taken (including from AoEs or DoTs) will remove Stealth. However, fall damage will NOT remove Stealth.
Fear AoE’s and certain other AoE’s will remove Stealth.
Enemies much higher in level will tend to see through Stealth from quite a distance.
Enemies you are in front of will see through Stealth as you get closer.
You cannot enter stealth while in combat. However, Rogues can use Vanish to equivalent effect. Note that if you have a DoT the Stealth will break the next time it damages you.
Stealth is balanced in WoW, here not, this is not a match between WoW and GW2 , but Anet MUST to balance the stealth or at least, the stealth spam.

attended phase 1&2 i was unable to log in to phase 3 …./no loot/no chest

Obstructed or not in line of sight or not in range when you are facing a melee oponent is really frustrating too.
Spirits are really bad, too few hp, range .
Now, the ranger is only a wanabe class that need to be polished by Anet, a warrior or a thief can hit harder than ranger with their bows (6-7k with rogue bow skill, and they can spam skills all time)
Mesmer or, 5 mesmers vs 5 non mesmer players = 20 vs 5
Thief : I can spam high burst skills all time and you no… (initiative is a fail)
Guardian: look at me 100% time retaliation , i can kill you and i dont need to move

Sonho, all classes can use ranged weapons, and all classes melee based have a focking skill with 1200 range to “jump” into enemies.

Rangers pets are really bad… you cant compare pets with phantasms or illusions…tbh whole pet system should be revised.

You sir are a liar and most likely a bad ranger if your pet out damages you.
He could be a bad ranger individually compared to his pet. He most likely runs Beastmaster traits with Master’s bond, pet might buff, and pet crit dmg buff. He probably also doesn’t run Marksman or Skirmishing if that’s the case.
^Which makes him a Tank-Ranger that lets the pet do most of the “work” which is nothing wrong really, but it’s definitely different than most other ranger builds out there.
If your pet do most of your damage, you will kill nothing in PvP or sPvP, because pets are easily kiteables.
Rangers need a buff in damage compared to other classes, it is a fact, a warrior can kill you in 2 second with swiftness+100 blades(2k+ each hit), a guardian can kill you with whirlwind in 2 seconds if he can stun you., a rogue can spam skills forever with the adequate traits , mesmer , ok , mesmer are simply OP now.
I have 3400 damage and i cant hit for 5k+ with blank hits like warriors, we need a good pvp elite (entagle is good but is too easy to avoid or counter and have 150 secs CD).
Ranger should be the best with bow, but is one of the bow users with less damage….
Pets are easily kiteable and arrows too (you lose a BIG amount of damage here) , greatsword has been nerfed to death and dagger is badt, longbow have some nice skills but is TOO slow and is really easy to avoid , in skirmish short bow is good but you have too few CC (24 sec a 1 sec stun with low damage…) to counter other players CC.
We can talk about obstructed and not in range , when you are in front of your enemy too…
