I have gotten a royal flush at least 5 times during my lifetime, 4 of which were for money stakes, and 1 of which put me under physical threat. And I still refuse to gamble on the Mystic Forge’s stupid Korean RNG of a precursor recipe. That should tell you everything you need to know about how obnoxiously insulting the current system is to the user’s time and dignity.

I think everyone is confusing what WoW grind actually is.
In WoW you literally could not participate in a dungeon, no matter how good you were, simply because your gear determined how ready you were more than how skilled you were. In GW2 I can participate in all content with my measly level 80 blues. I don’t need to grind in order to play the game.
Legendary weapons seem to encompass multiple achievements:
-map completion shows you did everything in the over world
-the gift from a given dungeon shows a factor of PvE skill
-the gift of battle shows skill in PvP
-the gift of fortune shows perseverance in the face of luck
-the gift of [your weapon] simply shows your ability to collect what’s neededThe legendary technically shows many different things. To say it doesn’t show any skill would be false.
-getting map completion is just a matter of time,not skill
-there is no skill in exploiting the various bugs in dungeons.like you said,you can participate in dungeons in your lvl80 blues,just means you get carried by your team.until there is a dps meter,there will always be one or 2 people that get carried by their group
-gift of battle doesnt show any pvp skills.you can easily get badges from daily jumping puzzles
-luck has nothing to do with skill
-gathering has nothing to do with skill
the entire process to getting the legendary has nothing to do with skill.the majority of it has to do with luck and time

crafting low level gear is pretty useless.you will level faster than you can gather the mats.if you buy them then you might as well just buy the gear
only gear i craft is lvl80 exotics
commander should have been based on lifetime kills.only the top x number of people get to have the title
it can.i been crafting rares and throwing them in the forge to try and get exotics.made about 3g net profit since i started yesterday

just make it so that people who transfer cant enter WvW till it resets

rng in this game is very similiar to rng in aion.getting lucky with legendary precursor is the same as getting 3+ procs to craft eternal weapon.only 1% will be able to craft the weapon with highest base stats while the other 99% will end up with the 2nd best weapon.the only difference is that the rng in this game is a lot worse
thats how you compromise.your guild members help you run your useless dungeon and they get tokens to trade for rares/runes,then you run their useless dungeon and get rares/runes
if the rares are too low then save them up and get the exotics to salvage
really need to get rid of it.passive speed buffs become completely useless once you get hit trying to run
with how the game is designed to get trained very easily,combat speed should be retained.i get trained by people running past to gather and end up dead because i cant run away even though i have 10% speed buff
trying to get precursor reminded me so much of trying to get crafted eternal weapons in aion.so much grinding involved in getting the materials.so much rng in getting the weapons to proc 3 or more times.funny thing is,i remember anet stating that ncsoft will not be involved in the decisions of gw2 yet with all the rng and grinding involved,i cant help to compare the two in how sadistic their punishments are
legendaries should instead have been tied to achievements.maxing weapon kills would give the precursor,maxing enemy type kills would give gifts,community would give another gift,explorer would give another component and so on.the hard working people should be the ones getting the weapons,not the ones that got lucky or were playing during betas and know the recipes to get the precursors

they do give better drops,just ax extremely low chance.i got an exotic from the wurm boss chest in caledon forest once

all the legendaries seem horrible in comparison to the greatswords.just seems like devs like greatswords more and gave all their resources into developing them
use the tokens from other dungeons and trade them for rares.the cheapest rares are 30 tokens each.you can get 2 rares to salvage each run
i always though it was because people starting spreading around the idea of using rares instead of exotics to try and get the legendary precursor
guild message is done very horrible.the way it is now,the message is deleted every time you enter something new.it should instead show the old message and allow you to edit/delete it.getting tired of typing the same message only with bits of new info

if you discovery all recipes in order(discover all 325 recipes then 350 then 375) it can take you all the way to about 392/393.then you will only need 2-3 ectos to get to 400

a universal token would work.just need to add a timer that only allows people to run each dungeon once a day.once someone runs a dungeon,they will be locked out of that dungeon until daily resets.some people will still only run the easiest dungeon but then they will end up making their dungeon gear take longer to get.and to make it so that players will run all dungeons,you can implement a tier system for the dungeons.the easier ones will give less tokens and the harder ones will give more.can also increase the chance of rare loot from the chest in the harder dungeons

The death penalty is fine as it is… Learn how to survive and your costs will be less.
And removing the repair costs from WvW would be a bad thing as well, people would zerg more, they would care less about surviving a fight, therefor run into every fight like stupid…
well right not people are running from every fight as well.they are scared to try out new tactics or lead the pack since they know they will die and have to pay to repair the armor
so what mmo just gives you end game gear and doesnt require you to grind?
i do.pain in the kitten trying to hit a mob when there are 20 other aoe classes there spamming their skills.usually by the time i get a mark down,all the mobs are dead.the ones where i do preplace marks down,the mobs spawn as invulnerable

death in pve is avoidable so repair costs is needed to punish people that are lazy but pvp deaths are not avoidable.gotta remove repair costs for it
i doubt they would want to go through the trouble of patching the personal story to the new race
seeing as how they cant even get current zones correct,i doubt they can get something that dynamic in place
most likely it will be like gw1 where the new zone,we can start a new toon or ferry out existing toon over and start the campaigns at a later place
gw1 missions offered nothing that made people redo them once they got masters as well
it depends on the route you took.it resets when daily resets at like 8pm
not hard to keep track of timers yourself.just need to be present for the fights
adding inspect wont change anything.people can just wear the dps set when they join then switch to a mf set that is transmuted to look the same as their dps set and you still wont know.only way to know is to use a dps meter
and i agree.if they are going to keep mf then they should make mf sets for every combination.i use condition damage and power/precision isnt going to do anything for me

catapult works now but you will end up in a loading screen that keeps loading forever
they should implement invasion events similar to WvW but it will be players vs ai.asura will be invaded by inquests,sylvari by nightmare court,divinity’s reach by separatist,etc…
make it bigger than dragon,temple events.all the siege weapons in WvW will be used by the invaders
