i hope to one day hear a logical argument against mounts, because up to now i have not heard a single one.
The only reason I wouldn’t want mounts is because I don’t want it to lead to mounted combat. However, I’m okay with the idea of mounts in general.
Right now though if you get hit you’re put in combat, which lowers your speed. If there are mounts and you are mounted, will you get knocked off? will you be knocked down? will you just be slowed? etc.
If you get knocked off well, that would be pointless in PvE since there are mobs everywhere. If you don’t get knocked off that would be unfair in WvW. If they could seperate it from WvW I think it would be best. Although I want mounts in WvW, it would be too hard to balance/code it for the differences.
most games don’t have mounted combat. i personally don’t want it.
give mounts a health bar that goes up with levels and allows it to absorb some hits before it dismounts you. most games use this system and it works fine. in combat movement nerf is something i hope to see removed one day as i don’t see what it adds beyond annoyance.
as for mounts being lore-breaking… nothing can break lore when it can simply be revised. it is called fiction people, and it is made up.
also, this is not gw1 so stfu. this is a new game and thus should have new aspects. if you want gw1 then go play gw1. it’s about progression, not regression. if you fear change then don’t do any new things, but don’t spoil it for everyone else simply because you have issues.
i think you should stack as much DPS as you can while also staying alive. to rely solely on dodging is certain failure imho unless you play a class that can sit in the back and shoot from 1200 range and not worry.
for the rest of us, some balance is necessary.

why release such a wallpaper when nobody is mounted in game?
i buy the rares because i want rares for my under 80 characters. the problem here is you didn’t pay any attention at all and bought the wrong gear.
you should probably be more careful or you’ll lose 180-300 tokens when you buy the wrong piece of exotic gear instead of 30.
in most situations it is harder. there’s some bosses with long range but overall as ranged you just stand at the back and shoot.
much easier and not nearly so much fun.
i love pvp, but i don’t consider zerg v zerg to be pvp. it lacks any of the fun of pitting yourself against another person. instead you’re lost in the crowd, unable to see yourself, casting some spells and hoping to hit something.
that seems very low. i have a 7850 and 965 and i run on max minus super sampling and medium shadows and i have seen it go up to 84 fps in certain areas. average is probably around 45. in wvwvw and holiday lion’s arch it drops to like 20 though.
targeted AoE or passive AoE? i just don’t see how we could get nerfs…
thinking of greatsword in particular all our skills are AoE in that they hit multiple targets, but only the symbol is technically a true on the ground AoE. so either we get a reduction to everything or a reduction to the symbols which imho are not even close to needing a nerf.
i think the whole concept of nerfing AoE skills to make them non-viable vs single targets will remove the effectiveness of many, many skills (depending on what it affects) and since we already only have 10 weapon skills, that leaves almost nothing. combat could be pretty kitten boring. if i have to spam 1 because WW and other AoE is only viable vs multiple enemies i’m quitting.
i agree. diminishing returns doesn’t really affect something that’s not a real person.

I recently started fractals and i dropped an exotic back piece. problem is it is account bound.

lol so it’s a bug? huh. i don’t find it bad. just dodge when he rears back. it takes a few times to get the hang but once you do it’s NP. i find it easier to be melee than ranged for the fight.

i for one dislike this change as it guarantees that i will die more in dungeons.
ex: after 4/5 get blasted by colossus rumblus, i’ll be fighting it alone instead of holding out until they come back, which virtually guarantees a death or a 30 min long solo fight.
ex: in TA, when all the silly ranged characters get stomped by the vines, i’ll have to hack away at the champ vine all alone and hopefully win. 1 mistake and i’ll be dead and we’ll fail.
this punishes the players that would not otherwise die. the bad players are still going to die and get a repair punishment. why also punish the players that don’t die by making it nigh impossible for them to stay alive?
edit: also how will the kiting part of p2 CoF work? because that path guarantees that you die and run back. i don’t see any but classes of full heavy being able to do it in 1 rotation.

i hope they add PVP arenas to the world (plains of ashford or something) where you can just run in and fight each other.
i really miss 1v1s and being yelled at by blue dots in zergvzerg doesn’t interest me much.
I have even face tanked warriors in WvW. Guardian will always come up on top if you know how to play.
people say this for every class. who’s right? i guess we’ll never know.
if i had a nickel for everytime someone was in my hammer symbol i’d have a nickel. realistically the most you’ll be able to get is yourself or another. chances increase slightly if you roll with the larger symbols but there’s better stuff to take imo.
i have also seen about 3 guardians run with a torch, and one of them was me when i decided to try it. it does have nice DPS, but i think there’s better options.
now i’m not saying guardian is bad, but i feel like the slight extra defense in a DPS build doesn’t make up for the minor dmg compared to what a warrior dps can do.
going full tank gives you rather a lot of defense, but takes your DPS down to something that’s utterly useless for anything outside of wvwvw.

and in PVE warrs don’t even need the defense since they just melt everything. geting mobbed? that’s np, just use 100b and everything in front of you dies. a guard doesn’t even have half the DPS. i’d rather be able to hit a 16k 100b and not have aegis/f2 than have them and hit a 6-7k WW if i’m lucky.
If you are talking straight PvE, then yes, cleric guards are lacking, pvp/WvW however, that build will destroy a warrior. Warriors are all 1 trick ponies for the most part, dodge whatever skill the use when they pop quickness (100b, killshot, whatever else they might use) and they are pretty much open to whatever you dish at them. Also comparing 100b to WW is a joke, 100b roots you, and only hits mobs infront of you, WW lets you move, hits mobs in a 360 radius around you and shoots projectiles (although random). In something like pvp/wvw this is a huge difference as you are more likely to land the hits of WW on more targets than you are on 100b.
Also, if you really want to talk about burst try a GS / Sword+focus build with full zerkers (which it would take to get those damage numbers on 100b) activate focus #5,then switch weapons, then WW + Judges intervention into someone and let me know what the total damage is from WW and the explosion. (hint: it will be pretty freaking close to that 100b which normally uses the same amount of skills to set up)
i never once mentioned wvwvw in my post.
i have 2 80s, first i got 100% map on, second i quested but skipped everything else and now i want a new 80 but it’s very demotivating to try again. i’d try to craft but it seems they’ve been nerfed and are now much harder to level.
i might quest to 35 and then use dungeons but i still don’t think i’ll be able to do it anytime soon.

Warrior’s have defenses that last seconds. Guardians have plenty more defenses tribute, the class that can provide protection the easiest, also many regeneration utilities, and not to mention 5 in honour grants vigour on critical hits.
Also if you’re trying to burst as a guardian you’re doing it wrong. Guardians are EXCELLENT are sustained DPS, and outlasting their opponents (Look at how many retaliation up-time they have).
Go play a Warrior and truly experience the class before you theory-craft. It will really help broaden your view on the “favorite” class of Anet

In addition I have over 1000 hours played between my 2 guardians and have theory crafted every build possible. A good warrior will beat a good guardian 9 times out of 10. You have to spec into retaliation uptime, and if you plan on playing the boring “retaliation bunker” then I would say go ahead for boring gameplay.

but the thing is you don’t even need the defense. guards can mitigate a few attacks, but are useless vs sustained attacks or multiple enemies. aegis is good for blocking the occaisional incoming big hit or taking slightly less dmg etc… but a party with a few dps warriors doesn’t need to worry about defense because they kill everything before they need to worry.

They can be as similar or almost the same as they want. As long as it is not the exact copy/replica of the one in GW2, there is no law or anything stating they can’t have it. While I admit that they are very similar and it’s kind of low for them to do such a thing, they are not breaking any laws or stepping on any toes.

i don’t find it all that bad except for the knights. they are out of control.

Never had a problem with the staff. It crits for over 1k with my build. Which is decent for a spamming AoE range attack. Orb of Light is a bit hit or miss. Symbol of Swiftness does exactly was it’s suppose to. Empower is amazing.
I agree with Heinel, casting Line of Warding while moving would be nice.
Yeah sure it’s still more for support, but it does decent dmg with the right build.

i’m not sure if this is your skill or the abysmal failures of the others. i really don’t get how anyone could ever lose a 2v1 unless they are completely undergeared or afk.
can i just say that to be tanky you need to lose most of your dps? thus rendering you rather useless for all but select scenarios?
i’ve played many games where open world pvp existed and i’ve always enjoyed it tremendously. if you get ganked you call in reinforcements and it creates a massive battle.
of course they could also create some PVE servers for the carebears. or simply have it be a map you can choose to enter.
what i want:
1. pvp arenas
2. open world pvp. i don’t know how this would work, but i really love the concept of questing whilst being able to be attacked at any time.
i think if they created a map with open pvp minus the structure of wvwvw would be amazing. for example, they could create a map where players fight each other and there could be spawns of chests that contain loot or something. i think that would be really fun. it wouldn’t have the zerg of wvwvw as much i don’t think.

i would like to do them but it’s too expensive to tele to them and too time consuming to run to them.
i don’t find changing keybinds any good. the skill pictures will stay in the same place even if you bind number 3 skill to the number 4 button. it beats me as to why it was done like this as custom keys are central to any mmo. to add to the confusion, the changes still apply on weapon swap so unless you have memorized your skills you’re gonna get confused.
i use a logitech g600 for anything past 5. it’s probably easier to just leave the 1-5 skills as they are and try to get used to them.
