Quickblade Vince – Thief
The Asurnator – Elementalist
I actually didn’t know that that twitching was an effect and I thought you always did it yourself during blurred frenzy haha.
And Pyro is right about the signet. Imagine how useful mirror images or portal can be for a shatter build.
Very impressive, very quick skills. But the twitching while doing Blurred Frenzy annoyed me.
Doom is on a way lower cooldown. What you guys forget as wel is that it’s not only damage, but also CC. Doom lasts 2+ seconds in most builds which makes it take for 3 times (in my spvp build at least). You’re completely CC’ed during this time, and take a lot of damage.
I don’t even use dhuumfire and my build and simply melt people. I don’t think terror needs to be nerfed per se but Doom is insanely strong to me. Instacast, able during stun, strong and short cooldown.
Get a person at 60% with regular conditions and from that moment, you can just fear him to death. Oh, and to the people saying to bring condition clears, you really have no idea lol. Necros deal with conditions so easy it’s not even funny. Other classes have way, way lower removals ready.
If you wantto stay alive, I’d go with a Rabid or Apothecary set. They go with defensive stats while still maintaining high damage due to conditions. We can also apply various conditions which is great for that. I really suggest the tool kit. 3 , 4, and 5 are great. 4 is a block for 3 seconds every 20 seconds, which adds some survivability. You have a long range pull and a nice confusion burst. The pull is great to focus burst someone with your group.
Healing turret is an amazing heal for groups. It’s a short duration water field and you can blast in it for group heals. On top of my head I can think of 4 blast finishers you can use inside it. F1 when healing turret is detonated, 4 on shield off hand, Rocket Boots and 4 on Elixir Gun. If you do these very quickly you can heal yourself for 5k + 4 blast finisher: 5.2k area heal.
As for traits, I don’t find we have the greatest options for support however, I feel like alchemy is a great line to invest in if you want survivability. I almost always take 20 in tools too, just to have the reduction cooldown on tool kit. 16 second cooldown on block
I also feel Speedy Kits is necessary just to get around faster and avoid melee attacks.
^ You’re confusing it with lich form. In Plague, you have stability.
So, what is the conclusion to this statement? For what my opinion is worth, it seems I was right. You see triple necro teams now.
I play a ton of classes and none is so easy to get quick kills and escape as the thief. It is literally too easy.
I made a necromancer since last patch (who didn’t) and it’s quite easy once your death shroud is filled. Doom is a great skill. It’s not only the damage of fear but also the control aspect that makes it strong. Tell me how to clear 5 stacks of bleeds, chill, fear, poison, and some torment every 10 seconds. This is virtually impossible. I’m a noobie on my necromancer and I rarely die 1v1 in spvp. I even took 1v2’s and have survived 1v3 a long time to get my team here. I’m now most afraid of the necromancers in team.
You’re right that condition mancers didn’t get buffed a lot outside of Dhuumfire but now you see them eevrywhere, everyone player terrormancer and you can finally see how devastating it is. No other class can get CC’s that do so much damage.
Oh hey, I can do the same:
Mesmer heal: 5.5k, 500-600 per illusion (3 max)
Necro heal: 5.5+-, 500 per condition and full condition cleanse. That means 8k+ heals and ALL conditions cleansed.
Mesmer interrupt trait (multiple traits): random boon or condition, interrupts don’t last long enough.
Necromancer interrupt: up to 4 seconds long or even more, deals 1.2k+ damage per second.
Mesmer scepter auto attack: 500-1200 (power builds)
Necromancer scepter adds bleeds like no other.
Mesmer has a base health of 15k, that’s it.
Necromancer has 18k+ and a double health bar.
Mesmer short cooldowns because most weapon skills are support and auto attacks suck.
Necro longer cooldowns for better weapon skills.
If you see this list you’d think a mesmer has no chance against a necro and this is true often. You can fear while he’s doing blurred frenzy, his safeguard (which was needed to deal some damage), and then just condi bomb him.
I’m no way implying mesmer is weak but please, stop trying to make necro look weak as you’re probably the strongest class at the moment.
The best guides are videos to me. Osicat’s videos and Vashury’s are great. They have some tips written while they’re playing, to cover their thought process. This is very helpful.
I was on my necromancer the first time in months after this buff and I trapped someone in a corner and put a spectral wall behind him. Lulz were had. I just condi bombed him and he tried to get away, thus fearing himself over and over. One of my funniest gw2 moments on a class that I still find a bit too slow paced for my liking.
If mesmer is supposed to be more control oriented, why are there almost no phantasms that amplify this effect? Right now, most phantasm just get picked for damage and for that reason, some are used more than others. If they’d implement contrl effects in favor of damage, we might see something cool.
Not that Seven Mirror isn’t great but he uses a very different style. VERY different.
Brilliant idea!
•In game name: Deluzio
•What class do you main/wish to learn: I actually don’t have any main, I play a lot of classes. My favorite is mesmer though.
•What class(es) do you play as your secondary/tertiary: engineer, thief, elementalist
•Are you applying as a teacher, or a student: teacher/student (depends if I’m good enough)
(If you are applying for a teaching position, please answer the following questions. Student position applicants may ignore these)
•How many hours on your class do you have: 290 (2nd most played)
•How many builds have you theory crafted: None, but I have tweaked Osicat’s Shattercat. I only play shatter mesmer.
•Would you consider yourself a good contributor to your community: I help people on the forums and in game but not actively.
•Are you friendly/helpful: I am, but I haven’t put out any own efforts or guides/videos.
•Would you be willing to prove your skill/knowledge ingame: Yes
I play an engineer too and whenever I got kittened because of retaliation, I’d always go on my mesmer. Now that isn’t really possible anymore. BF hits 8 times and I hit myself with 4k on one just one target… Imagine 3 together and I almost instantly down myself. Retal needs to get nerfed a bit, less ticks.
You are too good… How is your crit chance this high? I’m in 4 berserker pieces, 2 knight’s, berserker weapons and berserker/cavalier trinkets and I’m at 42%, no food. With food I might get up to 47 but it’s nowhere near close to you. I do have only 20 in Dueling though.
Sick gameplay! Please hurry up with your next.
Thief actually isn’t hard. Yes, you can die in a second but you can always hide in permastealth. I never have fear when playing my thief, even when I go into a zerg as frontliner outnumbered 1 to 5. I can never do that on any other class.
The hardest class in the game: engineer. It’s mobile, durable and unique.
I’ve made threads in the thief and elementalist forums. They are all experiencing the same odd sluggishness in skills. This is not Mesmer specific, it is most definitely a full game problem.
That’s strange. I’ve not noticed this on my engineer thus far, or my necromancer. I have noticed it on elementalist though. Sometimes I use the button to swap attunements but I didn’t actually swap.
I have noticed this as well, with multiple skills. Everything just seems to be a little bit not quite right.
Exactly. I’ve noticed this as well with Chaos Storm. It seems like all our skill have a slight cast/aftercast increase.
I have noticed that after the patch it seems like we’re unable to swap as fast as we usually could. I constantly find myself BF’ing thin air because it didn’t swap fast enough. I have talked to someone about this in my guild and he said the same thing.
Staff to me is way better for kiting.
Probably the nerf to blurred frenzy.
It is 5 seconds but starts the moment it went off. Say, you just had the proc, you go to air, stay in air, the 5 seconds pass, you swap out, you don’t need to wait 5 seconds anymore. Just hit a crit and you’re good to go. I don’t know if this is intentional because sometimes I can swap to air every second when I’m in another attunement.
I’ll give my 2 cents about this. First, I also have a Valkyrie burst S/D ele. I have not practiced with the new traits around yet but due to Fresh Air, I feel like you don’t need to take offensive utilities. IMO, you can still do with cantrips. However, I do agree that is very glassy and that you really don’t have a lot of room for error.
On my mesmer, I also go almost full GC, save from some toughness equips, but I can survive better due to stealth, teleports and clones. Not saying that mesmers are OP or imbalanced, but eles are squishier if built the same. Though, they have more sustained damage now due to Fresh Air.
On topic now: into the void. I always felt this skill was very strong but not OP due to the randomness of the pull. You couldn’t exactly tell where your target would be, making the iLeap miss sometimes. While I understand the nerf, the 1s is a bit too long IMO. In combat it’s okay, but right now, I can’t pull people anymore who run away. Focus used to be the only real thing a mesmer had to catch up to people together with Blink. Now because of the delay, the person is usually out of reach, so you can never get the guy anymore. That’s the major problem for me.
Oh and Archaon: the cool thing about mesmer’s utilities is that they are stun breakers, thus defensive but can also used for offense. Mirror Images to shatter, blink to close gaps or confuse, blink to stealth attack. The equivalent for an ele would be to have stun breaks on arcane skills.
Explosion? Do you mean as in shatters?
iDuelist has a 20% chance on projectile finisher. The trait with reduced cooldown made it 100% so you could heavily stack confusion. Not sure if they fixed this (read fixed, not nerfed as it was a bug) or you just stopped using that trait.
I did fight 2 DD eles together yesterday and I had one to 50% and the other to 10% and then 2 allies came in and mopped it up. If you switch regularly between weapons, the cooldown doesn’t seem to be a problem anyway. I only see it as a problem if you stay in sword constantly.
Seems like I am the only one that this doesn’t affect that much? Granted, I haven’t really fought anyone with Retal up (I think). But so far, I think you guys are overreacting. The cooldown increase is barely two seconds and you still have other means to fight. I feel that mesmer is still very viable and that most guys here are crying for no reason.
12k burning speed on a bunker guardian. E-stats.
I totally agree. The only other viable option we have now is bursting them very hard with scepter dagger and hope they can’t hit back.
Lol at you thinking thief is harder to play.
I just got myself a new valkyrie armor set and I am loving it. I have 103 crit damage without food and I hit very hard. Due to the cooldown starting whenever you enter air and not when you exit air, you can basically enter air almost every 2 seconds. I do miss EA in my 0/30/0/20/20 build. I can get EA but then I miss out on water 15 which is also great and kind of is the same. I might drop the 20 in water though, and get EA and somewhere 10 points. I am kind of squisy atm but it’s worth it so far. Only 1vx seems to be really hard.
Deluzio, Asura mesmer
It’s the guild [GF] btw. Pathetic how you team up with 7 on 1 guy.
Thanks for the spawning camping at DB BL EB.
Why is it that we are the only profession
LOL only profession. Try engineer, who has seem dramatic nerfs to traits and skill tot he point of uselessness (100 nades). Other classes have seen no buffs after a lot of playing. Elementalist has been getting steady nerfs as well. You aren’t the only one by far and you were the strongest build in the game this month. Don’t cry too much lol.
Lol this guy plays really well, you’re all boosting your own egos.
I think medical response is kind of a waste of 5 points. My build is 30/10/0/10/20 to get the toolkit skill 20% recharge rate which I feel helps loads, for the block especially. I don’t think the whole 15 points is worth it, as you can see in my build but that’s preference I guess. Oh, and I don’t really see the condition removal in Elixir R. Am I missing something?
This is a really good idea. And indeed, Diogo is right. Power mesmers or engineer won’t benefit from this, only condition ones too. You know something is underpowered if it doesn’t get used a lot and right now, confusion is a secondary choice for a lot of people.
They also get that new condition. Along with burning and there other conditions. We only will have confusion while they have fear and torment.
While we have versatility due to kits, they have more freedom in utilities.
I love my engineer. The one thing I love the most is condition bombing someone and kit switching. With these new changes though, I feel we will be replaced. Necro now will have burning too, the same easy access but on top of that, they get a new condition and have access to more bleeds. Yes we can potentially burst someone faster but on the other hand, grenades are way harder to land than marks.
What are your thoughts?
Hello Scepter Dagger burst builds. Burst in lightning, use Phoenix, hope for the crit and if it does, burst with lightning again. I think we can see a viable (semi) glass cannon build.
Even necros can apply burning now. Lol.
Drop grenades on them instead =D
HGH is overrated. I use runes of the undead which give me 250-300 condition damage, some toughness and a sigil of battle and corruption. With 25 stacks of corruption I tick for 13x while HGH gives me 14x (but not that often since I need a lot of might for that and you can’t sustain it. Meanwhile I can use both grenades for awesome aoe and toolkit for that burst confusion damage and block. It’s a lot more fun to play than HGH too imo. The only thing I’m lacking is some condition removal which is only a real problem against other engineers or when facing multiple classes.
I’ll give a link to my build here. In the end I end up with 1481 condition damage, no might, with food, no corruption stacks. With stacks it’s 1731 and depending on 3 or 6 might stacks: 1836 or 1941. When I reach this points, it’s loads of dps. I’m actually considering of dropping the sigil of battle to sigil of energy since I have so much condition damage already anyway. And the good thing is that I have 80% condition duration too. I might swap the rune to get 100% condition duration but probably not since I rather do a bit more damage before it gets cleansed and I rather have my confusion tick harder during those first 2 hits.
This is the best build I have found for me thus far though I’m still inexperienced (80 hours on engineer, 65 of which are WvW)
I would like that. If my asura engineer has asuran neon engineer kits, I’d buy cultural armor. Right now, I’m using the rugged adventurer look to match my sacks.
I agree that mesmer doesn’t need this. Oh, and check runes of the air which can crit 4k’s. Is that not a combat rune? It gives a buff to damage and crit damage as well. People are so spoiled these days. Equip a focus a have swiftness. Entering combat? Swap to something else if you like. Couldn’t in time? Too bad, but focus is still a solid weapon for tank and shatter builds.
Oh, and since everyone talks about other classes… Did you forget the necromancer? Yes, they have a signet, but they cannot afford to give it up. I’d also say that a guardian is slower than my mesmer with blink.
We already have 2 or more chaos armors due to our easy access to leap finishers, now you want them for your team as well? Nah, we’re good.
