Quickblade Vince – Thief
The Asurnator – Elementalist
I have been playing shatter for over 320 of my 420 hours on mesmer now but dang, I don’t do what you do. Whenever I go in for a double kill like you do, mine survive with 50% hp and immediately turn on me. With you, they seem oblivious. Not to say the enemies are all bad because you clearly have amazing skill. I’m learning to work with the GS now. The offense is great but I miss the staff during those risky situations.
Blackwater is amazingly powerful and one of the strongest builds in the game, especially if you see how easy it is to play.
The first time I encountered this build was in a 1v1 against Osicat. I was on my DD ele and I thought I was up for a hard battle but having played 300 hours+ on shatter mesmer myself, I thought I’d have a decent chance. Little did I know this build just got discovered. I got absolutely decimated. If you every attack you do is aoe and he just sits in stealth a lot, gaining the strongest boons in the game, it’s literally impossible.
I then got the gear myself in WvW and tried it out. There has never been a stronger mesmer build around. It is soooo powerful, nothing comes close except you have very little chasing power. I have not lost a 1v1 with this as of yet but I still mainly play shatter because it’s more fun to me. But PU conditions needs a slight nerf. I don’t know where, maybe the boons, maybe the conditions it spits out but currently, it’s one of the best builds in the game.
but would you agree that with this change they are balanced? I would.
Still quite strong as it can 8 stacks on you quickly but at least a bit more managable. I still think the rune is too strong compared to other ones, especially power.
Not much, considering I was able to hit high stacks frequently without even equipping weapons…
OK. I’ll just respond to the people who understand what Perplexity runes actually do in real-world situations, then.
Perplexity made it possible that conditions classes can now face melt even more. Having 18 stacks of confusion on you on top of burning, some bleeds and poison is not fun. These runes are gamebreaking.
Imagine there to be a rune that said get stability for 5 seconds when you get CC’ed (5 secs cooldown). Deal 200% extra damage on next hit after you interrupt someone (no cooldown). That’s the same type of kitten. Only scrubs try to defend these broken runes.
It’s the distance travelled divided by the cooldown thus showing how many units it uses per second. The higher, the better. It’s like meters/second.
When I first looked at buying GW2 (first MMO ever) and was deciding on what class I’d play I was purely looking at aesthetics and overall kittenery and mesmer was the ultimate pick. Purple beams, purple illusions, clones and awesome graphical effects made it a winner in my book. It doesn’t bother me one bit and I wouldn’t change it even if it was possible.
How do you guys get such high condition damage? I am fully geared with rabid and stuff but I’m not close to 2k… more like 1.5k
^ The old Medicat has lost a lot of its power due to nerfs to Elixir S though it’s still good.
My suggestion is either a stealth thief or blackwater mesmer. That kind of mesmer puts a crapton of conditions on you while still being very survivable and constantly stealthing. Clones everywhere and you dancing in and out of stealth.
Stability sucks but is needed in this CC fest. They both would need to be reduced.
Will watch when I get home ^^ I was one of the persons who asked to play Engineer but I must say, I didn’t enjoy it very much. It’s probably because you aren’t fluid with him (yet) and you were playing a really tanky build with little damage. This is not meant to bash you, just constructive criticism.
So you’re trying to proof your point by using the 2nd (or 1st) strongest class in the game, the necromancer. If a warrior can’t cleanse conditions enough, think about what others can do? Nothing.
Oh boy. Someone seems to be missing the point.
What you seem to be saying is “I think Class A is overpowered. If someone using Class B can beat someone using Class A, Class B is even more overpowered and all other classes stand no chance.” How is that constructive? How is that at all helpful? The people who think Warriors are overpowered seem to be unable to form proper arguments to support their point.
So let me say this. Before you post here, think. Don’t just type away on your keyboard and tell me Warriors are OP or that I suck. I want you to THINK. Think about your reply, tell me WHY we’re OP. Give a good argument to support your claim. Otherwise I’m not going to take anything you post seriously.
Let’s not have this be a bunch of Warrior haters circlejerking each other with no real counter-arguments.
That was not my point. You’re saying that warriors still melt to conditions and you use the example of the necromancer. The necro has the most conditions in the game and strongest burst condition in the game so it’s obvious they can kill a warrior. Other classes aren’t so lucky with their condition removal.
And I’m not a warrior hater, I have one myself, they’re just OP. Yes, hammer skills are telegraphed but A) people don’t have unlimited stun breaks and dodges
auto attacks still hurt.
It’s also funny how you say conditions melt us when the warrior has the best immunity/clearing in the game apart from a necro himself. Try to think what a mesmer would do against those conditions? Jack kitten.
Do you play other classes? I have 6 characters and warrior is currently the easiest to play. You can literally combo people down if their stunbreak is gone. This while still having 2800+ armor, high health and high regen.
If we compare the warrior with what the so-called OP ele once did, the ele looks like a child. He had high healing and mobility, wow, a warrior has those too. He had decent damage, guess what? Warrior’s is higher AND he’s stunlocking you.
Besides, the argument that there’s stability is invalid. They only last a few seconds. In the meantime I’ll dodge/zerker stance/shield block and then go to town after your stability is gone and I baited a dodge or 2. There’s a reason everyone is playing warrior now. Now because they’re finally viable, but because they’re overviable.
So you’re trying to proof your point by using the 2nd (or 1st) strongest class in the game, the necromancer. If a warrior can’t cleanse conditions enough, think about what others can do? Nothing.
Of those 3 classes you said you are considering, necro is the least similar to engineer. It uses conditions, yes, but no blocks, no vigor, less in the face action and slow in combat movement. The other suit the in the face playstyle of engineer more. I have all those 3 so I can know
I prefer the mesmer the most out of those. Although the ele is great too, but it feels incomplete after the huge nerfs.
Something quite different but also with the unique touch is the Mesmer
No no, he means exploiting as the runes are totally broken and everyone who uses them to chain interrupt is a noob.
Yeah, my thief is human and I’e regretted it
I’ve done it with my norn ele that I traded in for an asura ele. I don’t know if it was worth it. If you really feel the urge, do it.
If you do that, it’s Maskaganda’s build. Check his videos to get some inspiration
1) Yes
2) No idea
3) Yes
I’m the same boat as you are but another way around. I have a human engineer, only lv 14 thus far and want Magitech armor. However, that’s also the only human set I like. I much prefer T2 and T3 of asura but of course, it’s barely visible…
The general potential damage of a condition applying attack is way higher than that of a single power attack
OK, you put a lot of effort into writing this, so I’m trying not to be too dismissive, but this is as far as I made it. The correct approach here would have been to do the math, then decide on your position, not the other way round.
Lol, he is correct.
You’re right about a lot of points. In my opinion, condition damage, damage itself is too strong. I don’t mind long durations but make them tick for less. A 6 stack bleed, burn and fear combo can really drop your health quickly, after the fear is over, the other conditions still do their work and take you down too quickly.
The main problem to me is that it’s the same animation as a lot of phantasm summons, especially iBerserker and also the same as Mass Invis. Whenever I see someone moa’ing I think they use MI and I don’t dodge. I rarely die in Moa though. And I don’t really mind it.
Grenades are not easy to land, not at all. If a engineer can stack you full of bleeds, he deserves it. I don’t mind incendiary power to go but we need something else in return then. It’s a lot harder to stack damaging conditions on engineer than on necro. I literally can melt people with necro due to burn, 7+ bleeds and fear. You can’t do that on engineer unless you get 10+ confusion on someone and he keeps attacking.

When the rumors of Dhuumfire arised, I said that necromancers would be the new fotm class and engis would be replaced. People laughed at me back then but look what happened.
I agree that these traits need to be taken out but with one demand. Give engineers more access to burning or more bleeds. Right now, an engineer can barely put any bleeds stacks on while a necromancer can get 6-10 just by auto attacking. I never found incendiary power to be that OP on engi because we didn’t have much else damaging conditions but a necromancer with all the bleeds they have and the occasional fear, it’s very powerful.
Hello!
I recently made a new engineer and when using rifle, I can stack up 4 bleeds in an instant. I have noticed that when I do this, my bleed tick is 14. This is strange to me because this seems like every bleed ticks for 3,5 (14/4). Sometimes it only stacks 3 bleeds and then they tick for 10. So 3,3333 bleed damage.
Can anyone explain this irregularity? Can bleed stacks actually hit for rational damage but we never saw this in the old system or is the floater just off?
Aside from Guardian balance and healing aside, are people really defending warrior’s healing signet?
I have recently made a warrior, she’s 2 months old I think and it’s absolutely ridiculous how easy it is. Bursting like someone suggests doesn’t work because you have stability/endure pain, often shield block or GS run away skills. Warriors don’t have to sacrifice anything for amazing DPS. Unsuspecting foe is a top tier trait what every warrior is running now. Combined with a hammer and you do major DPS.
I can confirm that Osicat has quit GW2 for now, along with the rest of Judge. Only me and a couple of people are still playing GW2. Osicat and the others have moved to Final Fantasy. The primary reason was because GW2 lacked real raids. I also suspect Arenanet’s imbalances were a big factor too and the less than sufficient support for WvW.
I don’t have auto attack on so this never happens to me
Swiftness doesn’t increase skill range, just speed. You can jump farther (with the space bar) but that’s only because your horizontal speed is higher while moving at the same vertical height. A Death Blossom should’t have farther range simply because of swiftness.
If this thinking is wrong, please enlighten me.
However, I do like the trait idea. Unfortunately, I think it would make thieves a bit too OP in PvP when a fleeing foe can be heartseeked at almost 600 range.
Just as chill and cripple affect your leaping abilities, swiftness enhances them. I like the idea OP, but heartseeking almost 800 range really is too much.

I have played 6 classes extensively, no guardian or ranger. Warrior definitely.
Brb 20k hp, 3k armor.
Brb stability to counter bas venom
Brb hammer can 3-4 hit them
Brb instakill if they have no stunbreak
Brb see thief, pop stability, let him steal, dodge, hit F1, 5, 4, 2, dead thief pops up out of stealth
Brb brb
It’s funny how the class most useless in the condition meta is the counter to the new stun meta: Mesmer. My mesmer has tons of invulnerability due to blurred frenzy, use it when you see a warrior leaping at you. You can also delay the iLeap on sword to blink and kite the warrior. You have teleports (staff, sword), decoy and block (scepter), or even stealth on torch (which is very undervalued), a 2s stun on pistol with a good damage phantasm…
Shatter builds are the counter to warrior. The only thing that’s hard to deal with is their high toughness and healing capabilities. It’s just a matter of time before they go down.
I also have a warrior and especially in WvW it’s a one man army. It is stronger than the D/D has ever been. I have 3.1k armor, 90+% crit dmg, and 3.1k power. With unsuspecting foe, I crit a lot with my hammer. I can literally 3 shot certain classes if they used the invulnerability skill. Earth Shake 6k, Backbreaker 5-6k, Staggering Blow or number 2, BAM 4k. Try to survive this, especially since 2 and F1 can be repeated very often.
Together with condi immunity/stability/condition clears and blocks, this spec is almost unbeatable 1v1. I think there are other strong builds out there but I have never felt stronger than on my warrior nowadays.
MW is a EA trademark. So no to “Mist War”.
ps. i hate shooter games

If you refer to Modern Warfare, that’s from Activision. And secondly, that’s a ridiculous reason.
I haven’t watched yet because I’m in class but it’s funny how you play a shatter mesmer, the thing that made Osicat popular and then you’re dissing him. Yes, the condition build is quite easy to play, but he’s the best mesmer that I have ever fought against and with.
Yeah, I hate how I often kill 2v1 or even 3v1 and they can just keep ressing each other. Imagine 2 thieves together, constantly switching refuge to res each other. It’s hell…
Just stop using perplexity runes. It’s OP and makes you look like a noob. No, it doesn’t even look like it, you are one.
Bitter much?
If you’re against Baruch Bay which is full of the rune abusing noobs, to the point that you barely play anymore because of stuff like this, you’d be too. It RUINS the WvW experience and everyone who helps that should be ashamed.
5 seconds would have been a good internal cooldown. 15 seems too much.
Are you really defending these runes? They’re the most broken thing to ever enter this game. You see thieves facerolling everyone spamming 4 for the lulz. God, I hate ignorant people that can’t play normally and need a crutch to rely on. I hope these get nerfed to hell. No rune should suddenly make a class that has no confusion the master of confusion. Otherwise I demand a rune that lets me deal 5k damage whenever I auto attack.

I think shatter isn’t in a bad spot for roaming for WvW. You see a LOT of warriors and thieves now who are easier to beat with a shatter spec. You can burst down a thief from 70% hp and a warrior, you can kite and spike. Conditions specs are also effective for these classes but less as they don’t have that pressure (especially against warrior). I just got back to shatter after playing 2 months of condition PU and it feels good to have great damage. If you use your skills well, you can avoid a lot of damage. But you need to use your environment.
Shatter is very unforgiving though. Condition PU might just be the easiest build ever because you have high toughness, lots aegis, lots of stealth and you kitten clones. Shatter is very deadly but comes with a high risk. I think if the condition removal gets better (remove 3 conditions per shatter maybe in a useful line so it’s the equivalent of Cleansing Ire, that shatter mesmer is one of the most balanced builds there is for any class. Hit hard, get hit hard but play well and get rewarded.
I’m going to continue playing shatter mesmer for now and hope for some buffs. It’s probably the most fun gameplay for me there is.
Why?
mofdjingsgrg
Duels, sure this might mess up duel’s but all you ever see at duels are thief’s/mesmers/ele’s running there OP builds calling it skill, you see the odd other classes but 99% them 3 classes dueling. Dueling isn’t that great anymore its boring and doesn’t prove much.
Are you kittening serious? Eles haven’t been OP for months. They’re probably the weakest class in the game right now. It seems like you haven’t played WvW since March.
Thx for clearing that out RedScope. I forgot about retaliation, which was of course way over the top. Back when it was stronger and not noticeable, you could literally kill yourself on retal. I have another question though. It seems like you all know more inside information than me (someone said engineers are getting aoe stability,…). Any links?
- Thieves d/d can potentially oneshot zerker warriors…NERF
- Guardians can outlive burst from warriors…NERF
- Eles can kill warrior with attrition..NERF
- Necros can kill warriors with condition…NERF and ADD ANTI-CONDITIONS STANCE
- Engy can kite warriors quite well..NERF and ADD MORE GAP CLOSERBut pls @Daecollo go on and make another thread on how warriors suck in this game
- When did guardians get nerfed?
- When did warriors get more gap closers?
- The condition meta BARELY got a nerf and is still over the top for many classes
- Necros got buffed, not nerfed
Yes warriors are very strong and need to be brought down a bit, but it doesn’t strike me as the OP-ness of the necro. A condition classes that can burst quicker and harder than a berserker classes.
It’s purely for WvW I’m planning to play my necro. Conditions still ahve high dps potential though, with the fear that hits like a truck. I’m just wondering about the other traits
Hello everyone,
My necro just got to 80 and I decided to gear him. I was wondering a couple of things.
First, is it possible to stack fear duration above 100%? For example 50% from Master of Terror, 30% from Spite and 40% from condition food? If so, what’s the maximum possible?
Secondly, what is the current strongest build for necros? I make my own builds but like to have a base from where to go to
Thanks
I like it when you used stuns first and I think it’s a decent skill for people that don’t move around a lot or are ressing/down. I think greatsword is a great weapon for a mix of damage and mobility, hence why I use it a lot and miss it in builds that don’t use it, like my hammer, sword shield build.
I saw a nice video of a hammer warrior using sword shield in his off set hand. It’s cool to use it like that, it’s mot of a defensive/escape weapon then.
You can also use s/s condi build.
Sick warrior gameplay and look. Do you mind telling me what pieces are?
The nuke stomp was hilarious
