DS UI removed , added cooldowns to show for all DS skills so you now can see all cooldowns while in DS and the cooldowns on DS skills while not in DS!!

Thats right “downwithdragons” the staff is uniqe becuase all but 1 ability is an aoe mark but the staff skills arent uniqe because all but 1 ability is an aoe mark.

@Nemesis.8593 It’s still a problem or boring if you ask me that necro is the only class who doesnt get 5 uniqe abilites but 2. Play and feel different doesnt work if they have 4 abilites thats a copy/paste of oneanother.

And if we wanna take guardian staff as example
Guardian
1 : Cone aoe 600 range
2 : Slow moving orb that can be detonated on 2nd click range 1200
3 : Ground target aoe , swiftness allies , dmg enemies , lightfield
4 : Channel might to yourself and allies , heal allies nearby when ends.
5 : Create a line infront of you that foes cannot cross.

5 Very very uniqe abilites.

Necro staff

1: SLOWWW piercing projectile, gives LF on hit.
2 : Mark , bleed on enemies , regen allies
3 : Mark , Chill poison , combofield poison
4 : Mark , Transfer condition from allies to enemies , blast finisher.
5 : Mark , aoe fear 1sec.

Why are we the only class in the entire game who needed to have weaponset with 2 different abilites ? unless the class was rushed.

MM build is still not worth it while the AI still doesnt work proper + no out of combat regen + no proper minion scaling + minions die incredible easy and cooldowns first activates on their death making their cooldown the number showed + time they managed to somehow survive.

Spell effects is pretty much alot of copypaste if you look at em most is just a tiny change in color or different icon on the ground. If you wanted to see some really awesome looking and uniqe effects from the different abilites you should have seen the stuff they made in DAOC , mjollnir aoe hammers , aoe spears from runemasters , imploding balls (eldritch), fireballs from wizards , theugist pets , paladin chants.

Could go on but point is still why should it today always be acceptable to be given a half class that feels so rushed and contain a crazy amount of bugs + lazy copypaste work and ontop of it all there is almost 0 communication about where they are taking the class what kinda changes to expect , if when there is gonna be drastic changes.

Yes i hate staff also, the slow projectile and wow a mark oh 2 marks wait a 3rd mark? 4marks Oo, bit copy paste happy doing the staff skills huh ANET?

Looks at greatsword warrior 5 uniqe abilites looks at necro staff, 2 uniqe abilites, you should be ashamed of yourself ANET employee responsible for the necro mess!

Kinda funny they took the time to give each attunement for elementalist 5×4 uniqe staff abilites but necro had to be…just sigh.

Dont think ive ever in any game been so disappointed in a class as this gw2 necro.

Yes i do feel necromancer skills are ‘dumbed down’ and unfun staff, 1 projectile , 4 marks :< and then i look at elementist staff any attunement and its like 5 uniqe abilites.

Do i feel ANET owes necromancers ALOT yes.

If only ANET could take any class using any type of pet whether it be phantoms, ranger pets, spirit weapons, play around with these classes with a log recording and see where it goes wrong instead of a bunch of people guessing.

@Xsorus did use daoc necro for plvl aswell. But speaking of wvw or rvr daoc necro was insane if not OP at release of the class ( although broken ) for keep defending with the ghost outside and pet nuking through walls :p.

But pet AI and general pathing of pets in daoc worked insanely well and dont actually think ive seen better. kitten i miss my daoc sorc, huge badger pet or a twee i could hide in :o

You cant really blame people me included for getting more annoyed at ANET, just look at some of the changes thats a big slap in the face.

Tooltip change on 2 elite skills to say they now desummons minions
Downstate combofield that we cant use ourself in anyway.
Plaque signet requiring a target & los to remove conditions + stun breaker only work if the los is there.
Reanimator, Reanimator, Reanimator……………………

And after all this time
Minion AI still doesnt work.
You still cant see conditions or skill cooldowns in deathshroud.
Or Deathshroud skill cooldowns out of DS.

How much time do ANET need to relase a fully functional necromancer and whats an acceptabel timeframe for these fixes?

If anet need help testing fixes then i would help em if i got access to testserver, but im not gonna play the game untill i get the impressions necromancer is a fully functional and fun class to play.

Agree with this, necro do need a huge…not buff…but remaking.

Please ANET scrap deathshroud or reinvent it, but you must know by now that we can never be in line with other classes aslong as we have to suffer from.

No pet scaling stat.
No pet healing out of combat, except 1.
No lifesyphon scaling stat.
No curses.
No hexes.
No cleave.

High basehealth + Death shroud. <- possible cause for above problems from a balance pov.

Is it too much to ask for if i spec for pets they feel powerfull if i spec for lifesyphon i feel i can leech an amount that makes it feel viable.

What do you think is overall the best profession, and why?

    It’s the most finished class of em all with alot of builds avaible. You can tailor the class to what you yourself want, 1 of the 2 classes that can change their class ability to suit what they want it to do not stuck with crap like necr….ops got off topic, high health, best armor, great dmg, weapon skills have different uniqe skills like GS unlike necro staff 1 SLOWWW projectile and 4 marks.. ops happend again, ranged is viable and isnt balanced around having a pet so also big dmg numbers.

Nope still sounds crazy OP.

Alot of classes who spec condition would have insane dmg during those 4sec.

Also as Rennoko is mentioning drop the skill pop blood is power and BOOM game over.

2. Blood is Power
3. Death Shroud ( with weakening shroud )
4. Dark Path

Could include Plaque signet for the blood is pwr self bleed or dagger #4

Although i wish we had access to fun abilites like this.

@Kyskythyn Cant pick any of those as the problems i have playing the class is the overall design they made and how it feels as they at one point figured out how completely messed up it was, abandonded the class making it barely viable, forced into specifc build, released with TONS of bugs, DS ui thats just insanely poor thought out, minions still not working(pve your better off running around with golem but get so annoyed by it’s lack of will to do anything or go off random directed for random mob).

Know when i feel usefull ? when i can pop Epidemic for massive aoe and instant kill adds around boss or whatever.

Look at warrior’s and how they can use many different things with a nice synergy between traits weapons etc. A class ability that doesnt take away user control, can make it suit whatever you wish it for, burst dmg , aoe knockdown… <- you know CHOICES.

But i do check the patch notes to see if anything interesting is coming up that makes it worth trying again. So yeah i quit or put the game on standby.

Still see the core problem with necro is the “high health” + “Death Shroud” combo making it impossible to balance without having all skills feel weak.

And ofc the horrible DS ui, minion ai, no melee cleave, no hp regen on minions.

Anyone even know if gluttony works with all skills or if it was just a lazy attempt at fixing the trait.

like do 3% *1.1 = 3.3 get reduced back down to 3? , so only skills adding 10% works with it.

Oh well time for uninstall.

Still dont understand why they think making a class with natural high health and deathshroud is a good design choice. If other classes get dmg reduction abilites and uniqe class skill, while we are stuck with bad DS, no dmg reduction abilites, because of DS CMON.

If i have 100.000HP and do an average of 10dps i will never have fun with the class, everything in the class will always feel weak because of this.

Would be nice if they actually made a video of this class of what they want this class to be.

Have to admit i did enjoy my necro up untill 30 then i got the “watch me die golem” and i just got more and more frustrated as he again and again just stood there. After that i noticing more stuff that didnt work and how the class just didnt have any flow in its combat, how alot of traits didnt have any synergy or barely did anything, the copy/paste skills, bad ds ui and so on.

But good luck to you 2 and i really hope you can say this once you hit 80 and farmed some dungeons.

A 2h melee weapon with aoe, since were the only class in the game without a aoe melee weapon.

A scythe comes to mind being a necro and all.

Rework of deathshroud, when i made my necro the first time in beta i was worried about having an extra health bar that somehow would limit the class and all our skills, the more i leveled the more true this felt.

Scaling in general just being bad or nonexistant on the class, lifesyphon, pets.

Make the character creation fun by making me think, omg 8 awesome classes which one do i pick instead of sigh warrior or guardian :>

@Kardimond Have to agree our DS is the most boring class mechanic there is. It takes away choices and we have no idea what conditions we have on us, if our skills are off cooldown? is our DS skills off cooldown?

@Druitt If people wanted to play guardian they would have, but if you keep bumping into problems, stuff that dont work, traits not doing anything, minion ai and the lack of updates / fixes the joy of playing just fades away.

Part of the fun is also the build diversity, but you run into so many problems trying to build your own build like no heal scaling with health syphon, no stat scaling for minions, no minion control, 2 transform skills that dont work with minions, wells you can spec for but is unusable under water and have long cd’s, minion ai breaking alot of skills.

That other classes have problems isnt ok either and the whole play other classes but not warrior guardian. CMONN the game is suppose to have 8 classes not 2 classes, when they decided to release the game with classes having 100+ bugs you would exspect some sort of heavy investment into fixing those within reasonable time.

Or should we really just accept all the broken stuff cause other classes(not warrior guardian) also have to deal with this?

Also like wells if it wasnt for their long cooldowns and unusable under water AND if you trait for wells you have traits that are wasted under water.

We lack combofinishers dagger+offhand dagger, axe, scepter, warhorn, focus, trident have none.

staf got 2 and Spear 1 but 0 combofields for use underwater.

Our class mechanic is horrible from the start, it works as a health buffer, tank like mechanic and to balance an entire class around it is a terrible thing.
Thing about it you dont have a choice to go full glass cannon, your dmg skills will never be in line with other classes. We also have to deal with stuff that dont scale like lifeleech and minions further limiting our spec choice.

But sure its fine we have lower dmg than other classes unless we blow several long cd skills that others do with 1, anyway it would be fine if we had uniqe skills that would make us more attractive like hexes/curses.

Curse targets in area to give back health to attackers for instance.
Link bond to target dealing dmg and draining health back to user, drains lifeforce <- could add trait to make it heal people near you aswell. Cool thing about that would be unlike Life Transfer it actually doesnt take control away from user.

Can the class be viable ? absolutely, but doesnt change the fact the class feels like a complete mess that was dropped during devolpment. Should we accept the minion AI is so bad that everytime you use em you know that at some point their just gonna stand there looking.

@Arvid.3829 Only 1 delayed blast finisher pr minion.

Edit forgot to ask which builds you use for dungeon’s , pve event , spvp , tpvp?

First time ive looked at that list of old traits and omg there is some awesome stuff there and it just reminds me of how much stuff they had to remove to balance around DS which makes me a sad puppy :<. Couldnt they have made a poll about this in beta? Change DS mechanic or remove a ton of fun uniqe awesome traits.

And “sacrifice skills” what are those? :o

would have been quite nice to have its ability like a deploy ( turretmode ) and roam ( melee ).

The whole teleport doesnt work as when you want to move on you cant sacrifice it without the teleport + long cooldown.

Oh well just another thing not suppose to be fun to use.

@PinCushion , there are other classes that are better at vulnerability stacking and do more dmg in the process.

(25% faster, to be exact). <- exact ? how do you keep 25% stacks on an entire dungeon, bypass the process of stacking up to the 25 and avoid the long cooldown on well of suffering.

Vulnerability does nothing for condition dmg so i hope your entire group is power based.

@Drarnor Kunoram dont understand if speed runs arent reliable why would people do em. And if speedruns are what people wanna do then why shouldnt a necro be viable to do this?

Eh, I was one of two necros on my first run through it. We did quite well (barring the cliffside fractal where half the party couldn’t make it past the wind…) Necros are not bad at it, but if people are wanting speed clears, we will get left behind.

I would say that makes us Bad. If a class requires alot more effort to just manage while other classes need half the effort and do better then something is horrible wrong.

Its like when i played swtor i had scoundrel and sentinel dps, scoundrel required a ton of effort and management of resources while the sentinel was the easiest thing to play and did 40-50% more dps. Now dps isnt everything and every class should be uniqe in their own way but my scoundrel added nothing to the group while sentinel also added group healing + self healing + best dmg reduction abilities in the game.

Here we have a necromancer thats more of a burden to a group than wanted, which also makes us the users of necromancer unwilling to play and join groups. There is nothing uniqe about necromancers that makes us wanted.

High base hp + ekstra lifebar is impossible for em to balance the class around and they should have scrapped that idea long ago.

The group asking for a warr/guard may all ready have a necro and/or ele or 2 or 3 and want another profession besides another light armor profession.

  1. Deathshroud, apparantly soo powerfull that all other skills/traits must be bad and boring to use. Like long cast time long cooldowns.
  2. Lack of synergy between traits skills, other classes have traits for their elites ( ignoring golem traits )
  3. Communication with a.net whether their happy with the current necro or what we can expect in the future. Go through the bug list say which is a bug and which is working as intended.

Why bring a class that
A. Slows everything down
B. Suffers from bleedcap if any other in group is speeced for it.
C. Doesnt add anything uniqe to help the group. Epedemic lol :>

But once you master DS im sure any group would want you, heck going solo is probely faster as the others would only slow you down.

But i do share the same concern as you but i lost pretty much all hope for this class when they added the downstate combofield, its like them saying this class makes no sense if more things make no sense maybe more people avoid it or reroll.

And yes ive also tried the “oh your necro im sorry your not welcome here”.

What exactly is the necromancer anyway, curses? nope its bleedstacking nothing about curses. Minions ? yeah they just stand there looking or go in dying instantly or the best one survive a fight and with no regen die instant next encounter.

I still dont get why anyone would want a necromancer with them, the only thing we could possible add to a group is epidemic.

Ombra you talk as if other classes can only spec for burst or tank while necro is in the middle, but guess what other classes have access to different builds.

Not talking about rerolling but pretty much be given the ability to play any other class of your choice with the necro’s level and possible a set of armor to go with it.

Did actually notice this but the dummy in mist did seem to continue taking dmg even though the dmg numbers stopped showing.

As for the combofield i havent been able to get em to use the death nova fields as combofield.

Havent played for quite some time now and feel the same, the class is a mess.

It’s like during devolpment they figured out it wasnt fun and a complete mess in so many ways, then the ppl working on it just got told to make it viable and forget about it ever being fun to play.

all non elite minions dont regen out of combat
elite minion dont work under water
other elite skills desummon minions
toughness trait forces you to take minions.
condition line is attached to precision <- for a necromancer really?

Even if gluttony works, well it doesnt work with all skills. Old blood is power didnt give 21% with gluttony.

And lets say that it does increase it by 5%, its so tiny and small that its pointless and such a horrible designed trait.

Why did they design the class so when their users sit there choosing trait their like “mm no dont want that it sux or do nothing” “nope not that either” “hmm why is there so many on kill traits” “whats this bleed on crit but condition dmg cant crit” “20 toughness for each minion, but i dont want to play with minions….. although it does explain the purpose of first trait…sigh” “might when health reaches 25% OMFG im a super powerhouse when that thing hits”

So many things about the necromancer is just so insanely horrible designed they have 0 synergy and make no sense whatsoever.

Only thing i find slight interesting is the death nova change although hopes are at an all time low now.

Risen moose instead of golem would be kinda cool and they could add this head lean left right animation as it looks at us fighting being all “da kitten he doing” and skins like a dog doing same etc.

Have you ever played a necro?

1# You cant have both of those traits at once and you cant stomp in death shroud although its possible if you time the stomp + ds button which hints it as a bug.

2# Not 100% sure what you mean but you do need line of sight to the mark your casting, but it cant be obstructed as a projectile?

3# Agree.

4# Plague signet is to buggy now to be worth it, not even sure if it actually transfer or still copies. <- can be blocked, dodged, out of range and goes on cd aswell as removes no condition and breaker dont work if so.

5# Just no, Long cooldown , long cast time , small radius , almost useless passive and what are odds you get it off on more than 1 person and this in wvw doubtfull? i would say elixir R is much better.

6# Agree although it miss ALOT.

7# Doubt it would work since teleport back to places higher than your current position doesnt work most of the time and the dmg isnt that much.

8# No it is not and its very easy to avoid most of its dmg, also dpending on how you look at it Epedemic is possible the most damagin aoe. You can only stack 2 wells for damage, well of suffering + well of corruption(tiny dmg) rest do no dmg.

9# Guess its ok but its really terrible design to give us 3 elite skills where 2 of em take away skill choices during their duration aswell as desummon minions.

You should probely try some of the stuff you mention in mist area to see how they work out.

Why i picked necro as main. During BWE i tried to get an idea which class to play by getting em to lvl 10-15, didnt look up anything on net didnt go to mist and fool around and felt confident at release to play necro since well i had most fun with it at those levels.
But the more i lvled up the more things just didnt make any sense to me, horrible traits lack of combofinishers, long cd on marks, the feeling DS prevents the class from having any fun abilites, the overall combatflow of the class just wasnt there at all.

Here are some examples of things that i really cant make any sense of.

Downed state #3 why was it changed to a combofield whats its purpose how do we use it.

Underwater combofinisher whirl spear #4 what do we use it with?

Precision and condition in same trait line, 5point forced trait pretty much forces you to take high crit even though crit doesnt do anything to condition dmg.

Staff the one we all use ( almost ), okay its a great necro weapon but 4 marks makes it feel uninteresting and lack the fun of having more uniqe abilites like every single other class in the game have. Feels rushed.

Axe #3 snare and retaliation, so i want to snare em so they dont hit me or i want to snare em so they have to hit me?

Underwater DS, #1 Blast foe and transfer one conditon to em and #4 Drawing condition from nearby allies to self. Okay so when those skills got created which bright idea was it to prevent the necro from being able to see the conditions being transfered?

I am aware they are looking into the DS problem with seeing conditions im just wondering how it happend in the first place when it works against their design/skill choices.

Has the class really been rushed that fast through its creation.
