There’s a limit to the number of Passiflora I can gather in a day. Roughly 15 or so nodes, but it is Per Character, not account.
I wouldn’t doubt the same system applies to all nodes.
Not doubting you, but I am curious how you came to this conclusion. Were you gathering Passiflora, and then suddenly around the 15th one all the remaining Passiflora nodes on your minimap vanished right in front of your eyes? Or are you just having a hard time finding more than 15 nodes to begin with?
I am curious as to how he’s getting 15, I have been hitting the nodes alot quite recently and have never seen 1 passiflower, not 1 since southsun cove opened. I am beginning to wonder if they are as rare as final rest.
This here is what I was talking about earlier. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cathedral_of_Eternal_Radiance_
This is the final resting place of the citizens of Orr (according to storyline). Is there a boss that appears in the crypt where the dead are finally laid to rest. Lyssa is the goddess of illusion and final rest “looks” like a scythe.
Just had another thought, after a little more research. In GW1, the scythe was associated with Grenth. What if it is on Grenths loot table, but so rare that it just hasn’t dropped yet?
And another thought. Gargoyles in GW1 were found in Ascalon and Kryta. Now I know this is a long shot but are there any locations within GW2, even in ruins, where gargoyles used to exist, and if so, are there any bosses near by. Alternatively gargoyle statues were used to ward off evil so what about places around Tyria that could be considered holy or sacred.

Please do your own tests before report. “17 ectos from unknown amount of items salvaged with unknown salvage kits” – not enough info to make conclusions, not even close.
This is obviously a dig at me so I’ll respond.
I was stating that the amount of yellow drops I have had in the last 2 months was only enough to get me 17 ectos when salvaged with the BLSK. Yes I also mentioned I have bad luck with the BLSK’s too, but the point was not salvaging, the point was I have had so few yellow drops in the last 2 months that I have only managed to salvage 17 ectos. Then I pointed out further that at the current rate it will take me another 150 days to get all the ectos (from dropped yellows) to have enough ectos to make full set of exotic armour/jewels/1 weapon.
I was not giving numbers to highlight bad salvaging (even though it occurs), I was giving numbers to highlight bad drops.

*The two 5hour nodes south of Cursed Shore no longer appear on 5 hour rotations. Additionally, some players are seeing other nodes appear on 5 hour rotations instead (north, and in the sea for example), where as other players are just not seeing them at all.
The nodes that are on 5 hour respawn can change, not only to anywhere on the map, but also in number. I have had times when only 1 respawned within the 5 hour cycle, while other times I’ve had 3 respawn. Now I believe it only changes on new builds but I could be wrong.
*After farming nodes across multiple characters, some players report that no more ori nodes spawn for subsequent characters on their account.
I tested with 5 of my characters on Yaks Bend and all 5 were able to access the nodes.
Still not enough info. Try to craft 100 yellow items of 80 lvl (light armor masks for example) and salvage them with most expensive kit from vendor. I receive ~90 ectos from same amount items salvaged.
Its plenty of info when it comes to yellow drops, I get so little that its taken me 2 months to get 17 ectos just from yellow drops. But for science sake if you buy up all the ori on the market up to say 3s51c, I will have enough gold to buy the masks and salvage kits to try this out.
Also had a huge drop in ecto’s from salvaging rares, most of the time now, zero ecto’s….ever since patch.
I’ve been saying this for a while, but I kept getting called a lier.
I got my first rare in days today, from a dragon chest of all places. I did manage to salvage an ecto from it.
To give you an idea of my “bad luck” I haven’t used ectos in about 2 months, instead saving them up every time I get one from salvaging a rare. In 2 months, I have managed to get 17 ecto’s from salvaging rares, 2 months, 17 ectos, rounding thats roughly 1 ecto every 3 and a half days. At this rate to get enough ectos for full set of exotic armour, jewels, and just 1 weapon will take me another 150 days (if my luck holds out).
Rare drops are extremely rare, and ecto salvage using BLSK is also rare.
“I can’t give away any spoilers, but I can confirm that I’ve looked at the loot tables, and it is in the game. It’s a very rare reward from defeating a boss in the open world.”
If we are to look at lore for clues, then there are any number of bosses this could apply to. Since you could not pin him to it dropping from boss or chest then no boss can be ruled out. There is a boss who is situated at the final resting place of a king.
If you look at some of the areas where in story mode have lore associated with death, you have the upper temple area in Malchor’s Leap where people brought their dead and went through rituals. In open world this area has a boss in the centre.
There are many examples if you are using lore as clues to finding Final Rest. I do not know off the top of my head but which god/priest has a scythe?
This was posted in the thread about loot issues and thought it may be relevant here.
Just wanted to give a quick update on this topic. We’ve completed verifying every update from the november release, and there were zero changes to anything what so ever that would have negatively affected loot in any way/shape/form. We can officially confirm this as an X-files level conspiracy at this point.
We’re in the midst of evaluating every loot table in the game and running massive random roll evaluations table by table, as well as evaluating every system game wide that causes a player to qualify for items to determine if any issues exist in those systems from launch.
Will update again when we have another round of concrete information.
Harm, but not kill, a “white” rabbit.
I hope this is the right place to ask. I have a character who is up to fractals level 10, but has not got any ascended items from any previous levels. Do I need ascended items to complete level 10 fractals? What level should I do to try to get ascended items?
And you can only create (be part of) as many guilds as you have toons. so there’s a limit.
I thought the limit was 4 guilds … when did this change?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Talk:Guild#Max_amount_of_guilds_you_can_join
(second last comment)
Also my experience with 8 characters, I was in 4 guilds and was unable to join another guild until I dropped one.
I can understand the frustration this can cause, but there is 1 place where supportive roles can get rewarded (not 100% of the time).
I play an elementalist in WvW, often running with the mob doing what I can to help the mob. This often includes switching to my staff, attuning to water and do a little group healing, or switching to focus offhand, attuning to air and hitting #4 to block trebs/catapults. Now while these do not earn me drops, if they trigger an event within WvW, I get the reward for the event.
Now while elementalist might not be your cup of tea, support roles can play a big part, and be rewarded, within WvW.
P.S. Just to clarify, yes elementalist does not have weapon swap, so what ever weapon I chose before combat, I am committed to until I am out of combat.
What if the cause of the low drops is MF?
I am going to both agree and disagree.
I agree because in my experience, 122% MF gives me less drops, less equipment, but more fine crafting material.
Now I disagree because a lot of my recent evidence that I have posted here has been without magic find, as in 0% MF.
I believe the important point is: Do you still rezz dead or downed players even when you already completed your daily by rezzing NPCs?
I yes, no worries.
What I hate is when you go to the trouble of killing the foes, then start resing someone and they WP out … like what the … or you almost res them and then have the thought of “wonder if they are AFK” because of the silence and stop to ask before completely resing them.
While this issue is WvW related, this issue is also popping up in PVE where mobs are not showing in some areas until they are on top of you.
Back to WvW there were several comments to day that went something along the lines of “Went to attack this lone so and so, only to find myself suddenly surrounded.”
Culling issue made it hard to judge numbers also, I could see lots of AoE going off but no one in sight until I got close to it.
In answer to OP’s question, it went out the window with loot.
In all seriousness though, I am going to reply the same way many others have with similar questions. You do not “have to” grind in GW2, it is an option you choose to do. For instance, you don’t need dungeon gear or legendary to play end game. The only place where grinding is mandatory is fractals, and that is only if you want to do high level fractals where you need to grind to get ascended gear, which is not needed for any other part of the game. But again the fractals option is a choice, you don’t need to do it.
Part of this problem is it has divided the community into haves and have nots. The have nots are getting hit with the loot issue, day in day out, no matter what they do. For example this past week I have tried dungeons, fractals, running all over the map chasing dragon champions, etc etc etc, and all still hitting me with loot drop issue.
Then you have the haves, who do not see a problem and think we are lieing or demanding better loot when they see the loot as already good, after all they are getting rares quite regularly, and make a decent profit from drops.
This divide generates tension within the community on several levels, including the have nots being jealous of the haves, the haves thinking the have nots are greedy or not playing the game right, the have nots getting insulted by the haves statements, the haves seeing the have nots as whiners.
In the worst cases, those suffering with this loot issue get to a point where they are not looking forward to logging on because they know from their past experiences that they are going to feel unrewarded, and rightly so. I myself logged in today, did the daily, logged off for a while, logged back in and did some WvW, then logged back off, because yesterday I did not do well from loot, and the day before that, and so on. From reading these forums, others have just stopped logging in altogether.
Now, have I tried …, well yes I have. Someone said you make alot in fractals, so I went and did fractals, went up 2 levels and only made 80s total. Someone said do some AC runs, so I did and yes it was a little better than the 2 levels of fractals but I made no where near the same amount as other people in the party. Have I tried going to different events in different areas, well yes, I’m often chasing after dragon champions, running different events in different maps called out by my guild buddies, so I’m not sitting in one area or one event milking it dry. Have I tried magic find, don’t get me started, all I will say is with 122% MF I get less drops, less equipment and more fine crafting material, than I do without MF.
The fact of the matter is, that I did much better with loot prior to Nov15 than I do now. I can be in the same party, doing the same events, tagging the same mobs, and make only a fraction of the amount others in the party make. Again, same party, doing the same thing as everyone else and not see a rare for days while everyone else seems to get one quite regularly.
The haves do not understand this issue and only increase the emotion around this issue with their un-sympethic comments.

There are no more rich ori nodes in the game.
South western part of Malchor’s Leap, near the entrance to Cursed Shore, there is often an event that has NPC’s dieing to be res’d. There are also many other locations where dead NPC’s lay. Today I did mine near Shatterer, where there were quite a few random dead npc’s.
I tried to start a personal guild, the button is greyed out. But yes, it would be nice to know if this is something thats allowed, or needs “fixing”.
Man I just want 1 of these to drop, not so I can have a legendary, thats the last thing on my list. But the selling price of one of these I could kit up all my characters with 20 slot boxes, exotic armour + weapons + jewels, and if I had some change left over I might buy a minipet or 2.
I feel your pain, I bought several stacks of something when the price was going up, but the price then tanked. Thankfully the price is going back up so they may sell in a couple of weeks.
As for your items, you can use websites like http://www.gw2spidy.com to see what the price is doing and make a decision based on that.
The danger of buying seasonal stuff is when it is out of season people are left with stuff they want to get rid of and dump it for what they can get, resulting in the price tanking after the season has ended. It may take quite some time before the price recovers, and thats only if people are buying the item out of season. Piece of candy corn for example, its price tanked after halloween as people tried to get rid of what they had, but the price is slowly climbing and in a month or so it may reach end of halloween price level.

We can officially confirm this as an X-files level conspiracy at this point.
This is a rather offensive ad hominem in my opinion.
This is why I asked if he was confirming that there was an issue and they are trying to find the problem, or if he was saying we made the issue up and they are checking just to confirm.
If every dev upped loot just because some people had bad luck.. we might as well have 1 mmo, that allows you to use godmode commands and infinite loot.
Um, I’m not asking for MORE loot, I’m asking for the same quantity/quality I got when I levelled my first two characters. Loot HAS changed for me since then for the worse in both quality and quantity.
Read this thread properly, it is about “changed loot” not more loot.
I hope the luck for others improves, and I’m not rubbing in my drops. You can easily make far more daily if you do more than what I do which is just grind lol.
While I understand that you do not see an issue, please understand that others, including myself, have trouble even making 40s per hour chaining events, jumping zones, etc. While I make my money primarily from harvesting ori/ancient wood/omnomberries using 5 different characters at times, it is impossible for me to make the same amount of money any other way.
It is a good thing to change your password. Recently I had 2 email accounts hacked. Both used different “strong” passwords which were not used any where else. One email account was previously associated with my GW1 account, but was no-longer at the time my emails were hacked.
Change your password, reduce the risk of getting hacked.
Guy one: I don’t get good loot off 10 mobs.
Guy two:I get amazing loot off 10 mobs.
Guy one:Game is broken.
Producer:There is nothing broken that we can find. And we did not nerf drops.
Guy one:Clearly lying, game is against me.Spend $10 dollars on lottery tickets, when you lose write to your state and explain that its rigged. Clearly you deserve more loot because, well, its you. I once won $100 in lottery. I seen a guy win like 10M on tv. Next day he got poisoned to death. Luck works both ways. As does a RNG.
Player One: I haven’t seen a rare in days.
Player Two: I am getting about 1 an event.
Player One: What’s your magic find like?
Player Two: Don’t have any. troll face
Player One: kitten.
Not seeing rares for days, while others around you see them regularly, that RNG trolling you.

This issue, and the lack of confirmation, is a de-motivator. I want to level characters, I want to play, I want to build up materials and gold, but it takes so long to do its not worth the effort. Today I jumped on, did dailies and logged off, I will log in again shortly and try to do some of the monthly, but for the most part I am no longer motivated to play.

I am curious, are you agreeing that something is wrong but can not find what the problem is, or are you saying you don’t think there is a problem but you are checking anyway?
There is lots of emotion around this issue, specially when players experience differs to what is being stated. Each of us know someone who seems to have all the luck while we also know someone who seems to be hit with permanent DR. The game is less enjoyable for the person who seems to have permanent DR because it is not as rewarding for them than others around them.
Now I understand that the issue is still being investigated, but there is absolutely no confirmation of an issue except for statements saying they haven’t found an issue.
This has now been officially labelled an “X-files level conspiracy” which puts the issue up there with the yeti and UFO’s, but there is lots of evidence of a problem from players. From the new “loot chests” dropping junk to champions dropping nothing, these experiences are “outside” the expectations the patch notes give us.
from what I understand is that only a certain number of players can be on each map, but it does not matter which server they are from. So for example if a map could only hold 200 players, and TC had 180 players on the map, that only leaves 20 for the other 2 servers. So yes there can be a queue for WvW despite servers having low numbers because one of the other servers is hogging the map.
10g+ a day SOLEY off penitents when it pops. I use omnomberry bars and no mf gear.
This gets me angry. I am lucky to make 40s an hour with 122% MF from all the events in the area when they pop and this person is making more than double that just from 1 event …
(edited by wildcode.5403)
Fix loot drops … I know the official stance is that nothing was changed but player experience is that it has.
killed 50 branded to do the daily kill, and this is what I got: 0%MF lvl80 downscaled to lvl51
9 barbs (in 6 drops)
8 piles of radiant dust
1 pile of luminous dust
1 jagged metal scrap
clerics dagger lvl78 (blue)
carrion steam trident lvl76 (blue)
dagger lvl76 (white)
Sigh, just did Shelter as part of the daily events, 1st time in Cursed Shore today, 0% MF.
1st wave dropped quite a few items, but each wave after that either dropped 1 item or nothing.
(edited by wildcode.5403)
50% female, 50% male … no particular reason …
Today, I’ve seen 3 more of these chests, I swear I haven’t seen them prior, if I did it was extremely rare. Is this the chest they were alluding to dropping on Vets/Champs?
The chest can drop from anything and should contain a green or better, but some people have been getting lower loot including junk from them.
Although our experience is that something has changed, Anet has stated today that
there were zero changes to anything what so ever that would have negatively affected loot in any way/shape/form.
ANet states that it has not found an issue with drops. Nov15 patch notes states “every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot”. Player experience is that champions rarely drop anything.
ANet’s response to player experience: “We can officially confirm this as an X-files level conspiracy at this point.”
That is correct yes, there is absolutely no account or character specific data used in loot rolls what so ever, can debunk that theory.
Is any RNG done on the players computer using system data of some sort? It would explain a little why different players have consistently good/bad luck.
There is no such thing as player or account specific random loot rolls/odds. It’s the same for everyone, only magic find can alter your chances.
Why in my case do I get less drops, less equipment, but more fine crafting material with MF when compared to without MF?
Just wanted to give a quick update on this topic. We’ve completed verifying every update from the november release, and there were zero changes to anything what so ever that would have negatively affected loot in any way/shape/form. We can officially confirm this as an X-files level conspiracy at this point.
1. Did you verify that champions should drop something as per Nov15 patch note?
2. When you say “X-files level conspiracy” are you saying that there is an issue but not sure where, or that we’ve created a conspiracy?
This issue is occurring in PVE too with mobs not showing until they are right in top of you during pent event.
Diminished returns kick in when you do an event too often. All you can do is either put up with it or try elsewhere.
While doing my run around Malchor’s Leap I noticed something a little different just north of Bayt Fallahin. The invisible object we’d all run into and wonder what on earth is meant to be there, is now visible, and its climbable. There is nothing up the top but a view to the south but I was amazed to see this all the same.
I am one of the ones doing some of the complaining. I bought GW2 after a friend played it for a bit and recommended it. I have been happy with the seasonal updates (except clock tower JP) and loved the Karka event as a whole.
What I complain about is loot. I levelled 2 characters to 80 and equipped them all the way up only using loot. I was half way through my 3rd character when Nov15 patch hit. Since then I have had to use TP to upgrade characters as I level them due to poor loot drops (some suggest its permanent DR). Now I understand that some people have all the luck and have never suffered the indignity that is DR/bad luck, but there are many of us who love the game, but absolutely feel that since Nov15 we are not being rewarded as well as others. As an example, I myself went up 2 entire fractal lvls and only made 80s. Today I was doing my dailies and after the 19th kill nothing dropped for quite some time, even after changing maps.
So yes I can understand why you think some of the complaints are, “ungrateful”, I too see the complaints about “this is in WoW/some other MMO, I want it in GW2” and chuckle to myself adding a little “this aint WoW” under my breath. But complaints about gameplay changes are more valid and deserve to be heard.
(edited by wildcode.5403)
OP: Stealth does not break you out of combat, if thief is able to WP out then he was not hit by anyone still living.
I’ve gone in to lower areas with my warrior, while some areas are just as easy, some areas have been tougher. Easy was when I went to lvl 1-15 zone, tougher than normal was when I was fighting lvl 53 jotuns who would not go down as quick as they used to.
I still play and I post my observations in the sticky thread in the top of the forums.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Share-your-data-about-perceived-strange-drop-behavior-here/page/22#post1355201
We have yet to hear any official confirmation of a problem, but if people keep posting their “bad luck” then maybe something will be said or done about it.
@lynspottery: It is clear there was an issue introduced with that patch, but there is no acknowledgement that there is even an issue.
Well today I have seen DR kick in in the quickest time ever. DR kicked in only after killing 19 of the same thing, I was getting drops about every 2nd kill, then from around the 19th kill on, nothing, zilch, nada, zero. I was in this area last when we had kill variety for daily but only killed 1 of that type of foe.
Loot is the reward for killing stuff so if there is no loot, there would have to be some other reward in place. Dungeons have limited loot drops so the rewards are from the chests and after killing the final boss.
If there was no loot, there would have to be achievable rewards (even for casual player).
So would I play … yes … as long as there was some reward in doing so.
