The problem with Orr is the undead. Back when GW2 was being designed major game franchises were coming out with zombie games or add ons. I was cool to go around killing zombies. But since GW2 came late to the zombie party, its no longer cool, and unfortunately they have 3 entire areas dedicated to just zombies … I mean undead …
Zhaitan must be the most powerful dragon of them all, his minions have taken over 3 zones, no other dragon has that much influence in the world of Tyria. Lets see, there is Primordus whose destroyer minions we see in small pockets here and there. Then we have Jormag whose icebrood are scatters around northern shiver peaks but mostly in small pockets. Then we have Kralkatorrik whose minions only exist in an area he corrupted when he flew over the land towards the crystal desert. Then there are 2 other unknown dragons, one in the unending ocean whose minions we are yet to see, and the pale tree whose minions are the sylvari though their true nature might be that of the nightmare court, the Ventari Tablet has made the majority of them good.
Every time you harvest a node, skritt come out and rob you of your gatherings, you have to kill them to get it back
Or
All dungeons are closed for the day while skritt clean up all the remains

I still remember my favorite GW1 april prank:
Oh I remember logging on that day and thinking “what the …?!, We’re all naked!!!”
we all get to be skritt for a day
I want to see a dev play just so we can see how we are meant to be playing
You know they will be playing how we should be.
- At night, the place gets spooky and a DE involving a ghost starts.
Don’t remind me, I fell for the old “help the lady home” … never ever trusting a lady in white ever again
According to wiki, the cost will range from 500 gems to 1800 gems depending on the population of the server you are transferring to.
Source:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Servers
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Talk:Gem_Store
This means at the current gold -> gem rates you would need roughly (i don’t have enough gold to check so using the price for 100 gems)
Low pop: 8.3 gold
Med pop: 16.6 gold
High pop: 29.88 gold
Not too costly, but for those who solely WvW they probably wont make enough money to transfer without doing some PVE, gathering, market play, etc.
I would also like to note that if the wiki information is correct, guests would not be able to participate in WvW.

Not all of us are cat lovers, where is the endless mystery dog tonic?
Where is it happening? Might help narrow it down.
I enjoy the level scaling in this game, it means I can’t just walk into an area and one shot kill everything. If I want to farm a specific lower level area, then I have to work at it. This game would be too boring to travel in low level areas with high level characters if there was no risk.
There are a couple of closed threads plus an official thread all dedicated to people having issues with drops.
To answer your question, yes, some people have bad luck with drops/salvage/anything to do with randomness, and in some cases much worse luck than yours.
I have one character that I have 100% world completion on, and some other characters I managed to level to 80 using as little of the map as possible. But I am currently levelling a character by clearing each map of specific levels and while it is slow going, I am finding areas (including large section of the map) that I truly do not recognise despite 100% map completion.
Has anyone else come across areas they have been before but have forgotten?
For all those who farm this spot for coin, yes I can see your point of view, more people farming it means less income. But for people like me who do not have the coin to begin with, I am always looking for ways to get the items I needs. Southsun Cove has alot of earning potential, and it is under-utilised by us all.
I know this is a long shot but on yaks bend I found the catapult not interactable except for one spot on the opposite side of where Mad Mardine is standing. Every other spot around the catapult had no way in interact with it.
I have deliberately been holding off upgrading armour and fighting in areas my current armour can sort of handle to see what upgrades I am really getting, and putting those upgrades into safe boxes. I started tracking at lvl32 when I spent half my characters money and bought myself a full set of lvl32 armour and weapons to match. I am currently at lvl48 and I’ve cleared 3 x lvl15-25 zones plus almost finished clearing 25-40 zone. What I have picked up that I can upgrade to is …
lvl36 strong swindler gloves
lvl38 strong swindler boots of infiltration
lvl43 hearty dagger
lvl41 strong swindler pauldrons
lvl45 honed speargun of earth
Through 16 levels I have only picked up 5 items I can upgrade to, only 5, not even a double up on any of the items. This clearly shows that levelling a character and upgrading them using drops alone is impossible. I have had this trouble with upgrading via drops ever since Nov15 patch. The characters I levelled prior to Nov15 all upgraded from drops as I levelled them and I did not use trading post to upgrade any of them.
Edit: started at lvl32, not 30, lvl30 was where I was at when I decided I needed to use TP to upgrade. All armour and primary weapons are at lvl32.

Prior to Arah being made open unless a specific event is active, this “boss” was killed many times as it is part of the event chain to open Arah. Now that Arah is open most of the time the event isn’t done as much any more. There is no chest after defeating it (if I remember rightly) but if it does drop final rest then no-ones been lucky enough to get it.
Sometimes when I use an ability that places me in stealth my character will appear visible on my screen but I seem to be in stealth; the stealth icon appears in my list of buffs and players/NPCs behaviour as if i’m in stealth.
This seems to be what is happening at times. The stealth icon is present but I am still visible on the screen.
Also, if you use shadow refuge, and run out of the circle before the circle disappears you get the debuff as well.
Will have to remember that, I learnt to wait for the circle to vanish quite early but occasionally just use SR to break agro when hide in shadows is still in cool down.

hmm, I havent been happy with pistol at the lower levels, been finding daggers more useful and down foes alot faster. Maybe I need to test them again when I get to higher levels.
This is what I tend to do atm, start off with steal, #F1, let auto-attack strike, hit DB until initiative runs out and by then foe is almost down and will let #1 or #2 finish them off.
Occasionally I’ll go steal, #F1, CD, backstab then DB …
Not sure if I am using those in the right order but if I get it right foes go down fast.
thinking of a condition armour (carrion?) + D/D thief with
condition removal/initiative/health while stealthed
damage while stealing
fleeting shadows + quick recovery
thrill of the crime or long reach … haven’t worked out which would be better …
Also thinking of shortbow as weapon swap for ranged attack and AoE as required.
Am I thinking wrong going this way?
I have to still work out what to add to the weapons by way of sigils or orbs.
Occasionally when using cloak and dagger, hide in shadows, or shadow refuge I don’t cloak. It is a little annoying when it happens because I’m trying to break agro at the time.
So I can try to avoid this issue, does anyone know why I wouldn’t cloak when using these skills?
This whole loot drop issue is really getting to me. I am trying to level a thief, and in the process I did all 5 starter zones to try to get armour/weapons for my thief. I am currently level 32 and am struggling in the low ends of a 15-25 zone because my armour/weapons are still not good enough for that area.
Events are not solo-able, foes get my health down fast even one on one and when I break agro to heal, they heal as well
When will the loot issue be accepted and fixed because it makes levelling a painful experience.
I have wondered about this, people seem to be doing this in WvW and basically downing anyone within range. But others here are saying it can’t be used to attack so how are they doing this in WvW and downing everyone within range?
I am levelling a thief and was trying an event in Brisban Wildlands at Mirkrise Waypoint where you have to defend the camp against the inquest. During the event I cloaked several times and each time the veteran inquest golem was able to target and attack me while cloaked despite all the inquest agents losing agro on me.
Tonight I wanted to search for dev posts for a specific topic, but there is no option to search the dev tracker forum, but you can search any other forum
Semantics aside, what ever method ArenaNet are using to determine if you get loot, and what loot you get, seems flawed due to the overwhelming evidence that some people are consistently worse off than others with the current method.
Luck is not real… it is a figment of human imagination. Probabilities exist nothing more.
Randomness in any computer program is impossible. They are using algorithms to “simulate” randomness.
While I agree with your logic, ArenaNet has referred to the loot issue on occasion as “luck”.
I would like to speculate for a second and say with so many people experiencing permanent “bad luck” and others around them experiencing “good luck”, what ever ArenaNet use as the random seed could be system related. I tried both in Windows 7 and OSX on the same system and am having the same “bad luck” in both.
1. They salvaged it in hundreds of thousands. People that salvaged in for themselves, or sold a few hundred did not get banned. These people recognized that it was an exploit, logged on different characters and mass produced it as fast as possible.
Looking at reddit posts on this issue, people were banned who only salvaged it for themselves and did not trade it. There is some speculation as to how little was needed to get banned some some are saying as low as 100 ecto return got banned.
2. Some of them were massing such sums as 15 000 gold daily and most of them were planning to mass sell it to a gold selling site.
I am sure some gold farmers saw $$$ when they found out about this but 15,000gold daily is well over the total amounts also mentions in reddit.
3. They crippled the economy beyond repair in 19 servers.
Why are you even defending them?
While ectos took a little dive the price is recovering and is close to pre Wintersday price. The price of ori and mithril went up initially but has since come back down. Since the trading post is global, not one single server suffered more than any other.
When I 1st heard about this bug I knew something was wrong and did not try it, others saw free money and got caught exploiting it. While we can debate whether it is ethical to re-emburse cheaters, I think the move on ArenaNets part is a sign of good faith. Those people can go get themselves another copy of GW2 and spend the money that was given back on that account, and hopefully learn from their mistakes.
This is just void speculation, and people should stop trying to pass if for a fact.
It is far from speculation and has been tested time and time again in different threads that covered the issue. There are many many posts of people experiencing better drops rates and quality once they removed magic find. You can start with the numerous closed loot drop issue threads and continue with the thread Anet opened about loot.
(edited by wildcode.5403)
To be honest, I fitted out my elementalist with the skimpiest armour skins I could find, ended up with armour made from 5 different sets but she shows more skin than anyone else on the battlefield. Downside is I had to compromise and leave the arms covered
MF increases the chance that your next loots will be of rare tier but that’s about it.
Actually if you are one of the unlucky ones , magic find lowers drop rate, lowers % equipment drops, and increases % of fines/bags/salvageable. It is talked about many times in different threads and the general conclusion around all those posts is that it is not working “as advertised”.
I am tempted to believe one of the developers was a [mega]team fortress fan with engineers in GW2 having a little MTF feel with turrets, spanners, mines, and grenades. The end result isn’t as useful as MTF engineers but can be just as fun with extended grenade range and dumping turrets via supply crate right on top of the enemy.
I use the 2012 Mac Book Pro with the retina display (LG one unfortunately) and have to lower resolution to get decent game performance.
Some accounts, including mine, do seem to suffer from a permanent lack of luck. There is some speculation that is could be an erroneous diminished return but there is no way to really tell for certain. Some people seem to have better luck for a short time after updates, and some after the daily resets but it never lasts.
Can I just quickly point out that while the hope is that they increase drops in open world, the statement “expanding reward systems” could very well mean they are adding more content to get stuff from instead of more drops from current content. Further more “make them more re-rewarding” in context could just mean because of the extra content, areas become more rewarding than they currently are.
In the context of this thread it means more chances of getting nothing, or hitting DR sooner.
(edited by wildcode.5403)
Really? It doesn’t occur to you that the other threads and this thread directly contributed to them making the open world more rewarding? Nahh! Of course not, right?
Considering I am still having issues levelling characters where much needed armour/weapon drops are concerned when compared to pre-Nov15, any improvement does not fix the issue at hand, but instead create a new baseline making those of us who suffer this issue have no idea what drops should be like.
Fixing this issue should be higher priority than giving us more reward, so we can all properly benefit from future improvements, and to ensure that no-one is worse off than the person next to them.
We are however working on expanding reward systems to make them more re-rewarding across all parts of the game, making the open world more rewarding, and adding new ways you can earn precursors as rewards via new reward systems taking advantage of our open persistent world.
I do hope that this issue is solved before this comes to patch, because then all our data will no longer be valid and we’ll have no baseline of what drops should be like.

I did some exploration yesterday with a character that has 100% map completion, realised I could jump onto a ledge (with the help of sprint) and explore an area near some ruins I didn’t even know existed. Still didn’t find a way onto the ruins but it was a nice change from the grind.
Did all 5 starter zones with my thief to try to get them upgraded equipment, now doing lvl15-25 zone as lvl30 and paying huge repair bills cause my armour and weapons still bad for the zone level:(
How ever I did pick up some level appropriate stuff, just not for my class
(edited by wildcode.5403)
another “pun” missed is when skritt say “you ran from skritt” and you return to kill them, they should say “Oh skritt”
Running around Orr doing your story line, you will notice that in one of the stories the Tengu help as allies, they are also present in Caledon Forrest. So why are we not seeing corrupted Tengu?
Recently I was asked to forward concerns onto specific email addresses instead of forums, so I did. How ever I have not gotten any response from those emails, not even an automated “we got your email” email. It think it has been a couple of days now and the questions contained were not difficult ones.
Do I send emails again?
Now, out of 99 monsters (sorry, thought I’d kept track of 100..):
- 51 (FIFTY-ONE) gave NOTHING. Absolutely Nothing.
- 11 gave armor/weapons ( 6 WHITE, 5 BLUES)
- 0 greens
- 0 rares (didn’t expect to get any anyways…)
- 0 exotics (what are those again??)
Can I play on your account, you almost had a 2:1 kill:drop ratio, where most times I have a 6:1 kill:drop ratio, or sometimes even worse
Now, because of what THIS thread is about, players seem to have become inwardly focussed (can’t blame them), leaving lowly (and new) players to fight their way through a very difficult, unrewarding world where the only way to advance, is to power level a toon and then live off dungeon-running to acquire whatever items they desire.
Cutting right to the basics, life before 80 is about levelling, you explore and hit as many hearts and events as possible to help you level. But once you hit 80, the game becomes about accumulation of wealth. You need tokens, money, and other odds and ends for the top of the line weapon and armour skin. You also need to keep up an income to play for daily expenses of traveling around and doing a variety of things at times to break the monotony.
Yes everybody starts off playing to 80, but once at 80 you start playing for wealth and any change to the mechanics that assist us is felt. Unfortunately because at 80 people start playing for wealth, they avoid areas that will not help them towards that goal so you end up with areas that appear deserted.
This bug, plus a number of other factors, is making the game less community focused because it is not in anyones best interest to hang around in an area when they are getting low quality/quantity drops. For instance, I am not going to hang around a series of events making as low as 38 copper an hour (which has happened at times, DR maybe?) when I can go do my gathering runs and make 2.5 gold in about the same time. And then there is the running around killing stuff, whether it be farming for fines, or just out right blood lust, with this loot bug it is easier to go gathering high end resources and sell it on TP using the profit to buy the fines you need.
While this issue is occurring for you, you could create a paypal account and link your visa debit to it, then use paypal for gemstone.
I bought a lot of those chests, don’t think I got either of those from them
Instead of making Tyria one big seamless world why did they choose to keep using portal load screens from GW1? can anyone explain why?
Also some sanity on the server side. Lets assume 2mil players world wide (similar number stated by a red post somewhere in the past week). Thats a little short of 38.5k people per server (average). Now lets assume that that each zone has its own process within the server, that means for the map you are on, the server only has to worry about 1.5k people per process (reality it is much less since not all 2m are on at once).
Conclusion, zoned map areas means less work for the server to do per map, meaning less server lag for us all.
Seen a couple of pics and youtube videos just now of snowman transformation during wintersday. How? I saw no-one personally with one and none of the tonics/potions I got throughout the week or so were snowman ones …
I had this nice post written up and forums made me re-log in
so to try again.
The op has a point, I have been pouring my hard earned cash into the game both with halloween and wintersday (I didn’t have to) so I could try to obtain some of the novelty items, often without success so spent even more money. And with all that money flowing into ArenaNet, I was expecting an expansion within the first part of this year (assumption on my part) to include another race and new areas. But instead of some sugar for those who have supported this game financially, we’ve been given a little vinegar instead.
From what ArenaNet have said we can assume they want to bring people back to the less populated areas by adding new content to those areas. The concern is that while initially the novelty of the new content will bring players to those areas, once the novelty wears off players will go back to what they are doing now, unless those areas are just as profitable with the same effort as the higher populated areas. And with issues with the current loot mechanics compounding the situation as it stands now, the new content in existing areas to bring people back to them is feeling a little gimmicky.
Why did I pay for GW2? To be entertained and captivated.
Why I have paid additional money into GW2? Because I believe that ArenaNet will deliver on content that will keep me captivated.
Will I keep throwing money at ArenaNet? Only if new content is not gimmicky and current issues do get resolved.

Now come on, we all know Logan is a skilled tactician, he has survived every encounter, and being the brilliant tactician that he is, he knows when to fight, and when to run.
