I had to read your statement 3 times to makes sure I was reading it correctly. You were basically re-stating what John said. Sell orders are those that are selling items, they post the items for sell and pay the 5% listing fee. They = supply. Buy orders are those that bid on items on a price they set. They pay no fee. They = demand.

But John basically said sell orders are not supply, and buy orders are not demand.

Remember that Sell orders != supply and buy order != demand

As a market noob, please explain why this statement is true … I would of thought sell orders = items available on the market, therefore = supply and buy orders = items people want to buy, therefore = demand …

Are accounts flagged for good/bad loot

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: wildcode.5403

No. There is no flag for good and bad loot. It is just RNG.

Are you saying there is no diminished return(DR) on loot drops? That my reduced loot drops only after a few minutes, and my increased junk drops are nothing but RNG, no DR at all?

When the 1st patch came out that lowered population in Orr, I went to cursed shore and was wow’ed by the emptiness of some areas. But a patch afterwards seems to have reversed some of the undead density changes and some areas appear to be just as dense as prior to 28th patch, mind you some of these areas are not areas you would go to when running between events.

It is quite clear that the population outside anchorage has changed, but there are other areas such as the tunnel to the SE, or the area behind Jofats waypoint where the populations appears to be the same. Also in ML where there are small roaming NPC groups (far north and far south south of about the middle of the map) seems to have not changed in density either.

If that’s still not good enough, don’t sell the rare quality gear you get in fractals and break them down for Ectoplasm. Then you will really start making some cash.

And this is yet another problem, I rarely get rares and when I do, I do use BLSK’s on them but lately they fail more than succeed. I cannot even remember the last time I saw a 70+ rare. Heck my luck is so bad with BLSK’s that I have salvaged cheap exotics and at times only got an ancient wood/ori + rune from them, no ecto.

C4 … we have engineers in the game, and separatists use explosives to create havoc within the game, so why not give engineers something more powerful than grenades, and give it a decent cool down of course.

I can see it now, an army of engineers placing a large cache of explosives at a gate or wall in WvW … as a counter you can have elementalist “healing” water skills wet the explosives so they don’t detonate (and fade from existence in a fizz rather than a boom).

Oh and for added effect, it knocks down anyone (friend or foe) within range.

For those of us who suffer the constant indignity that is the loot drop issue, harvesting is our golden egg. I recently completed fractals 8 & 9 and after selling all the loot only made just over 80s, from 2 whole fractal levels.

In the same time it took to do those fractals, I can run around the world with much less risk, or effort, harvesting ori, ancient wood, and omnomberries and make about 2 gold.

For some of us, the risk vs reward does not add up. Why should I fight a champion or veteran when most likely will not get loot from it? Why must I spend hours doing events for little reward (in my case about 40s per hour if I am lucky)?

Yes there are people who get plenty of reward in the game, but there are people like me who, sometimes only after just 5 minutes of killing the same mob type start to see lower drop rates and more junk drops. Add to this that (for myself) when wearing magic find I get more fine crafting materials, and less equipment, the reward is beyond a joke.

Harvesting, which carries much less risk than fighting at any of the temples or some of the group events in Orr, is much more rewarding when it comes down to gold in the bank.

I propose that you remove diminished returns from loot drops, remove “nothing” from the loot tables and allow everything we kill to drop something, even if it is junk, something is better than nothing. This would also fix the issue of champions and veterans not dropping anything.

I also propose that magic find be fixed so that instead of more fine crafting materials, you get more equipment, after all we are wearing it to try to get better gear to sell/salvage.

I got a chest! Hurray!
…. It contained a porous bone…

NOT amused.

We keep saying there is a problem with loot, and yet here is more proof of our perceived loot issue. We know devs play on live servers so I got to wonder why aren’t they seeing the same issues with loot. What are they doing different as to not be getting loot issues?

Here it is 5 months later and they still haven’t lifted DR or required more extreme grinding times before DR kicks in. DR hits within 20 minutes for me I dunno who thought it was more then two hours HA.

Even with MF DR is noticeable when I start getting fewer drops within 5 minutes of killing the same mob type. And whats worse is DR stays despite going to a different map, even though wiki says it shouldn’t.

I still include Southsun Cove in my harvesting runs, and have been tempted to try to get a passion flower, which I have yet to see despite my horde of passionfruit.

Now when the game detects that there is too much corpses, it converts all of the bodies into chests. It does not matter if they are uncommon or greater.

Had zero corpses in the area apart from the 2 I just killed, had 2 chests spawn … there was no corpse culling issue.

Again different area, had 1 chest spawn, the corpse I just killed, no other dead bodies in sight.

I saw my 1st new chest drop tonight and I had a question regarding them. Are all “green” and above meant to drop from chest, or are drops normal (nothing to exotic) with a chance to get a chest that guarantees green or higher?

I ask this because I have been getting some greens from corpses, not chests.

In my own experience and logging drop data when using MF and when not using MF in same events (at different times), I have found that MF gives you more fine crafting materials and less equipment. I even checked tonight for an hour with MF, I got 36 fine crafting material drops and only 6 equipment drops.

Until a developer tells us how MF is meant to work, I am assuming it does not work as advertised.

Edit: incase you are curious I also got 6 salvageable items and 58 junk drops.

Magic find at work: 30min lvl 53 Jotun farming
Lvl80 Warrior, 122% magic find, 40% gold from monsters

First 5 mins saw drops every second Jotun, then is went to about every 4th Jotun.

Drops:
24 Crumbling Bones (mostly 2 at a time)
12 Heavy Bones
10 Engraved Totems
3 Frayed Rags
Berserker’s Pirate Shoulders lvl80 (blue)
Acolyte Pants lvl76 (white)
Rawhide Mask lvl50 (white)
Shaman’s Shiverpeak Trident lvl76 (blue)

Did another 30min run and picked up
34 Crumbling Bones (mostly 2 at a time)
9 Heavy Bones
5 Engraved Totems
3 Frayed Rags
Rawhide Shoulders lvl80 (white)
Rampages Axe of Peril lvl 78 (green)

DR is definitely in effect.

Magic find is a great way to get fine crafting materials, a bad way to get equipment.

Vet Jotun also did not drop anything so I left him alone since he was not worth the effort.

Things that need fixing:
Champions and vets should always drop something, with champions offering better drops.
Drops in general should be put back to their pre-nov15 state so that rares drop as often as they used to.

Things that need clarifying:
What magic find actually does so we can make informed decisions about our builds. In my experience it increases your chance of fine crafting materials while decreasing your chance of equipment.
What we should expect on average from drops, including how often we should see a drop, and rough % chances of the different types of drops.

Nothing at all or all porous bones? You truly are cursed…not even I’ve been that unlucky, even when drops are bad, I usually get a few silver worth of porous bones.

Not even porous bones, nothing, zilch, zero, nada, absolutely no drops at all.

The next event (shelter) I did get some drops but not many. Gave up after a few more events and went harvesting since I can make more from it with very little effort compared to killing stuff with a lot of effort.

Klomno, you might want to use the support option in the service menu and get them to roll back your account. If your account was involved in botting/real money transfer it is just a matter of time before it gets banned.

Put in a support ticket and ask for a roll back to when you know you last played due to being hacked. That way if your account does get banned for botting/RMT you have your support ticket to fall back on.

Also if they were able to use your account despite having confirmation emails you may want to change your email password as well as your email account might have also been hacked.
