The past few daily’s I’ve done we got 3 items, but today I only got 2. Are we back to 2 items for dailies?
I’d love to know how there is such a discrepancy in loot between us, as it goes well beyond anything RNG can explain away.
It has been discussed and proven time and time again that magic find gives you less loot, regardless of what people say it should do.
So did the whole escort Jofast and clear the camp events.
Drops were
2x 2 porous bones
1x large bone
1x ancient bone
1x giant gift
2x white equipment
1x blue equipment
So 8 drops from 50+ kills …. less than 1:6 drop:kill ratio which is quite normal since Nov15
Things to note:
1. I had not been “farming” in cursed shore for at least a week
2. I had just finished a gathering run with a different character where I only killed a couple of risen in cursed shore.
3. No magic find on the character I did the events with
4. I grenade spammed and tagged everything I could
I think it is pretty clear that something has changed with regards to drops. I played several hours WvW last night, pretty active battles most of the time, and only made 1G from loot + event rewards the whole night. Pretty sad reward for the effort that went in
I love GW 2, and enjoy playing the game. But I am one of these “unlucky” players who can’t seem to make a break financially in the game. Whether it be bad RNG, bugged DR, or just endless bad luck as far as drops go I can spend 10 hours or more in the game and only come out 3G ahead. I have spent ALOT of $$$ on gems for chest keys and celebration chests, and got none of what players might consider “special” items. During halloween I got a bunch of one use tonics, and 1 skin. Wintersday I got a couple of skins and one use bells, a whole bunch of hats and a couple of minipets which 1 or 2 doubled up on and I can’t sell
But both times I was not lucky enough to get any of the permanent novelty items
With all the Wintersday stuff going around and some quite nice things to be had, the poor section of the community seems to forgotten. I’ve collected over 500 giant winters day boxes and only got a couple of skins which I cant even sell. It seems the poor section of the community has to grind for what the rich section just pays for.
I know it is too late for Wintersday, but for the next celebration, will ANet please consider those of us who are less fortunate in the game, and allow us to have a better chance at getting some of the permanent novelty items?
I wish to know how to make the character walk instead of run. I want to do some recording but some of the ideas require the character to walk. Is this possible?

I am having some issues and was wondering what “hardware” specs are Cedega reporting to the client, especially since I am having the “siren” sound bug with the mac client, but I dont have it happen in windows 7 on the same machine.
You can use shift command 3, to take a shot of the screen without needing to select anything. And as others have reported, it does save screen shots to your desktop.
I am trying to work out which part is Beta. Because GW2 mac is just GW2 windows client running inside Cedega. I am not sure why they haven’t gone the Cider route though, would of been able to have more exposure for the mac client.
When it does this, it usually means the launcher is updating. Let it sit and it should right itself after some time.
Seeing some bots hiding in the water, the problem is when i get close enough to report them, they vanish. Checked again a few minutes later and they were back there, but once again vanished when I got close enough to report them. I only managed to report 2 out of the 8 or so I saw so how do we deal with this new behaviour?

There was a whole thread about drops being not as good as they used to be but its now closed. You can how ever present your experiences with drops in https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Share-your-data-about-perceived-strange-drop-behavior-here/page/3#post1068700
What gets me is they are asking for proof, yet if they read the other thread it had all the numbers, all the facts, all the proof they needed to show that something was wrong.
Changes have been made somewhere that effect players drops in a way where they get more fines/bags/salvageable than before, but also less “equipment” than before. This “change” also has meant players get less yellow(rare) drops than before.
You state that you’ve been looking at the data and do not see anything strange, but have you compared the data to that of before Nov15 to see any differences? Clearly people are saying that they notice a change, and it would be more accurate to do a comparison than just to monitor the current data.
I’d like to add that www.orrmaps.com if your best bet to find all those nodes.
I used to use orrmaps but they went down when I needed a map (as well as other issues with the site) so I made my own. But yes you can use orrmaps to either view maps, or to make your own. The most liked map becomes the server map. Just be aware that it does not work properly in some browsers.
If you want to make your own personal map, take screen shots of the map, resize them with your favourite graphics program and save them as jpg. Then you can use google drive to create the maps, or use your favourite graphics program. If you use google drive to make you maps, you can set up tinyurl.com to access your maps with a short web address.

Maybe its not so new, but for me it is a relatively new concept to make money from gathering.
With the loot drop “bug/nerf” affecting how much I was earning in game, I looked for a new source of income. And gathering has been my choice.
Initially it takes some work getting characters to 80 to be able to profit from this method, but once they are at 80, and got their exotic armour, you can harvest rich mithril, orichalcum, ancient wood, and omnomberries and sell in TP for a nice profit.
I gather in Frostgorge Sound, Southsun Cove, Malchores Leap, and Cursed Shore taking 45 mins each character and make over 2G from TP sales per character. While it can take time to find and map everything initially, it is certainly rewarding once you have everything setup.
And after you’ve done your gathering runs, you can play the game how ever you like not having to worry about coin so much.
I would like to also point out that harvesting is a much greater reward than “playing the game”. I am getting over 2G for about 45mins of harvesting where with killing foes I wouldn’t get 1/10th of that in the same time. This is evident by the supply of high end harvested material increasing in the last 6 weeks.
My 1st wish … Tengu (preferably a class of their own so to speak) …
Remaining wishes are to be able to play a skritt and a quaggin.
Unfortunately any new maps they open up I’ll have mapped in no time, so new areas are a bit of a “what ever”, but more areas to harvest ori, ancient wood and omnomberries would be nice.
If they learn anything from southsun cove, I hope it is that they need engaging content to keep people in the area.

maybe someone pushed out the debug version?
ok ok wait a min i see some people talking about 160 hours of game play and whining about not getting any good drops ok heres mine !!
In the last 6 weeks I have gotten about 528 hours game play in (yes I play way too much). Compared to the previous 9 weeks the amount of “equipment” I have received has reduced. I used to make 4G in about 5 hours just by selling “equipment” drops to the merchant. Before the “bug/nerf” of Nov15 you could easily make 80s per hour in Cursed Shore, now it takes you over two and a half times longer to make the same amount, and thats on a good day.
I just want to say thank you to ANet for removing some of the bots I’ve seen around and reported time and time again. Glad to see the reporting is working.
I am confused how ever that while some bots are gone, others still remain. Do I still keep reporting or is it considered abuse if I report the same people over and over?
Right next to Meddlers Waypoint in Cursed Shore there is a structure with a steam engine sound emanating from it. I tried to find its source but only managed to work out that it is louder on top of the structure.
This from the Nov15 patch
The drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans, and players in WvW) has been increased. Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot. This was to ensure that world loot drops were not a significantly worse way of acquiring rare and exotic items than crafting and running dungeons.
Is obviously bugged. Rare and exotic drops in open world got “significantly worse” not better after this patch.
And this
The amount of loot that drops for downscaled players has been increased. You should now be able to receive level-equivalent loot until you are fighting at a downscaled level that is less than 2/3 of your actual level. You should also receive loot a greater percentage of the time as well as receiving a greater percentage of experience, gold, and karma. For level 80 characters, this means level 55+ areas will be able to drop level 80 gear and give about 75% or so of the other rewards. Previously, these areas would give level 77 gear at best and closer to 60% or so of your rewards.
Is obviously negatively effecting loot drops in general.
What ever data ANet has looked it, it is obviously not showing the make up of the loot, other wise they would see something fishy, compared to say 6 weeks ago. Compare the data, look for the changes, and then tell us nothing is wrong.
We’ve seen reports from players questioning the randomness of the drop mechanisms in GW2 and in particular asking if it’s been changed recently.
Not sure we are questioning the randomness, but we are questioning the likelyhood of “equipment” drops. Since the Nov15 patch there has been a reduction of “equipment” drops, with an increase in “crafting” drops (fines/bags/salvageable) making up some (but not all) of the difference. You are also more likely to get more “junk” drops than any other drops (by volume) over an extended playing period.
“Rare” drops used to occur atleast once per event, now “rare” drops have become extremely rare and are lucky to occur once per day. This is evident in the price of “globs of ectoplasm” increasing along with the price of all “rares” above lvl 70. This isn’t because of “bot removal” but because of a shortage or “rares” in the system.
Patch notes say champions are guaranteed to drop, but more often than not, they drop nothing. Veterans were also meant to have loot adjustment done but they very rarely drop anything and when they do it is usually junk or a white.
To mimmic the effect, take a lvl 80 character, go to cursed shore, team up with a group doing pent/shelter/jofast … and play for several hours. Track your drops and you will see what we are talking about.
We’ve also created a thread where players can share with us their concrete data about any perceived strange drop behavior they encounter:
Thanks for your understanding and help!
There are lots of posts in this thread showing data. I have replied to your thread showing some of the more “solid” numbers.
Quotes from other thread showing numbers …
Well, did the pent/shelter/jofast events tonight for a little over 3 hours. Majority of the loot was porous bones (54), next was all the salvagable, bags, and crafting materials, out of the remaining there was only 38 items, 0 yellows, hardly any greens. Selling the items to merchant didn’t even get me 1G … for 3 hours event running …
This issue still exists, did the entire event chain from Caer to Arah, did not fill 30 slots, got more crafting mats/bag/savagable, next was junk, then 8 whites, 12 blues, 1 green. And I had crit numbers going all over the screen with my grenade spamming.
Champs and vets still rarely drop anything.
In one hour, I made 38s … so much for my estimate of 50s/hour … I just was not getting enough drops, nor enough equipment to merch.
I give up for tonight. This bug has won this round, only made 3g63s in about 10 hours of game play in Cursed Shore, but I will fight it again tomorrow.
And finally the solid proof
The Numbers are in, ok, lets look at some numbers from just before the drop rate bug from15 simular event
*Added: From just prior to Nov15 patch
*Added: Events were pent/shelter/jofast events including the escort fia and dolyaks.total drops = 365
% white drops = 19%
% blue drops = 18%
% green drops = 7%
% yellow drops = 1% (Note: I was having issues with yellow drops when this was done)
% junk = 34%
% fines/salvagable/bags = 21%Now simular 15 events today
total drops = 307
% white drops = 9%
% blue drops = 5%
% green drops = 6%
% yellow drops = 1%
% junk = 20%
% fines/salvagable/bags = 59%Analisys:
- 16% decrease in total number of drops
(When comparing % of drops)
- 10% decrease in white drops
- 13% decrease in blue drops
- 1% decrease in green drops
- 0% change in yellow drops
- 14% decrease in junk drops
- 38% increase in fines/salvagable/bags dropsConclusion:
Drops have definitely declined since just before the Nov 15 patch, with their make up also changing. The numbers dont lie. On the up side, we are getting more crafting materials now. This is why inv is taking longer to fill, because you are getting alot more stackable items than before, and alot less of the non-stackable ones. Because people tend to bank crafting mats and only merch junk/white/blue/green items, you also end up with a much lower income from these drops.
Also note I put in a ticket and submitted an in game bug report with screen shot and quoting same ticket number. 121211-001013
Also wanted to add that yellow drops have changed too, you used to be almost guaranteed 1 per event, no you are lucky if you get 1 a day, in cursed shore.
Prior to the Nov 15 patch, it was not unheard of to make 1+ Gold an hour running events, now it can take you 3 hours to make 1G from selling same type of loot “equipment”.

I managed to get 3 of the tonics after spending 16g (all my savings) on glue and stuffings to get them.
Can we get toy frames to replace the ones we used to make toys, so we can try a tonic?
I’ve downed the people carrying the gift, and I’ve killed the people carrying the gift, yet gift stopper is at 0. How do you get gift stopper?
If we’ve done all of Tixxs’ stops, and grabbed the chest in La, he have enough cogs to make 2 toys with 200 left over.
How do we get more, tried doing a Tixx dungeon (first time today) and got no cogs.
From patch notes as of 13 hours ago …
The gate to Arah in Cursed Shore will now only be closed when events directly in front of it are active.
Wasn’t the point of having them closed if the undead took over the area, was so that players would be forced to take it back if they wanted to do the dungeon?
This seems like a little too much give to those who do not want to do the events. I’ve seen people say Arah is bugged on my server when in fact the event chain was active and working, just no where near ready to take Arah.
Seems like the change was made to allow people to bypass the events if they failed to defend Arah, avoiding the whole point of defending Arah from the undead, so the pact (which includes us) could access Arah. And if you failed to defend it, you had to fight to get it back.
Why such a back flip on a key point of the game?
In this case, yes – it sounds like this is a map out bug, and any screenshots or videos detailing how to reach it would be appreciated!
Challenge accepted
However, with some creative jumping it’s possible to enter that section of the map.
Two jumps are all that is required, the 2nd jump how ever can be lethal if you go too far forward. Then it is just a matter of dropping from roof to roof to ground.

While I like what this thread is trying to do, the related guild that I was given membership into has no-one from my server and no-one from my time slot.
Think some re-organization needs to happen to match peoples servers and times.
be sure to also check along the walk ways around the very edge, had 1 doll hiding in there.
For those who have not been following the threads in bugs and discussion about loot drops, magic find does not work as advertised. Instead you get less loot, and out of that loot you get less equipment and more fines, bags and salvageables.
Again, magic find is only beneficial if you are needing crafting materials.
I tried it and it worked. ^^
I wasn’t sure whether it is okay to do, so I stopped after a very few.
you mean the one they just nerfed so you cant use the jewel to make jewellery? Guess its back to the extremely rare “rare” drops.
Well you could have made money today with the new ecto recipe. I guess that’s how we make money ingame, play the market and take advantage of opportunities.
What, what?! Ecto recipe? Is this a recipe to make ecto, or a recipe that uses ecto?
It would be nice to have another source of ecto’s apart from the now extremely rare yellow drops (and the ever increasing price of them on TP).
Aside from the rants about not wearing magic find in dungeons, magic find is currently now working as advertised (so to speak) … wearing magic find you get less drops (including less equipment), but you get more fines, bags and salvageable material. The thread talking about the drop rates touches on magic find not working as advertised.
I have encountered this bug for the 1st time, exactly same sound as the OP’s youtube link, and just like in the video during a battle in WvWvW.
I’m using GW2 osx beta client.
(edited by wildcode.5403)
Dropping from the wall into the doorway teleport in WvWvW will trigger the character fall scream.
What happens if a group of stealthed thieves try to walk into the southern spawns in borderlands? Since thieves can perma stealth would they be able to camp the spawn and build arrow carts to take out the npc’s and anyone spawning there?
(edited by wildcode.5403)
Dev has said it is indeed possible that you do not get gifts from all presents out in the world.
In my case it has about a 30-50% probability of getting nothing, in some cases one after the other dropping nothing
A video showing the bug can be viewed here
