I’ve seen people do this so I know its possible, how do I reliably get swiftness on a lvl 35 elementalist (without some trait I cant access yet). Some vistas are harder without swiftness so having it would be nice.
Thanks in advance.
In my opinion, the ANet statements about grinding should read “you dont have to grind, but it is easier to get some things if you do”. It is true, you dont have to grind to play the game, you can do many things in the game without grinding.
BUT, if you want your gear faster, whether it be Ascended, Legendary, Dungeon, or Exotic, grinding helps to make it happen alot quicker.
To be clear, the issues in this thread include:
- loot quality increase from vet/champs doe snot seem to have occured
- guarenteed drops from champs has not occured (drops are extremely rare)
- vet drops are extremely rare
- overall drop quantity and quality is lower
- Magic Find drop quantity is lower
- Magic Find drop quality is more crafting materials (and items that give crafting materials), less of everything else.
- Lack of response from ANet on these issues.
- Hacker appears.
- I hit Prntscrn
- I report him.
Why wouldn’t this work?
On my system I dont have a PrntScrn, I have to have the game screen “windowed”, bring up the virtual keyboard, click game screen, click PrntScrn. If I don’t do it like this, I cannot get a PrntScrn.
Solution for ANet would be something like:
– check previous position vs current position over time difference between both points
- did character more further than normally allowed
- no (no need to check further)
- yes, Did player use skill to move
- no, Kill player (teminal velocity exceeded) return corpse to previous position
- yes, was skill allowed
- no, Kill player (teminal velocity exceeded) return corpse to previous position
- yes, Did distance exceed skill distance
- no (no need to check further)
- yes, Kill player (terminal velocity exceeded) return corpse to previous position

In dredgehaunt cliffs near the “equipment repairs” poi, there is a heart. The heart says “Kill corrupted elementals, defeat Sons of Svanir, and thwart their plans.”
One HUGE problem, neither are present. I’ve done this heart previously with 3 other characters, but this time, they are completely AWOL.
Please fix this.
Note: the ice elementals do not count towards this heart.
As I have said somewhere before, put a death layer just under the surface of the map. Test to see if current position from previous position crosses the death layer, if so kill player and put them at point of death(on the surface of the map). Since most of the teleports exposed on youtube travel in direct line they will always hit the death layer.
I’ve been leveling a low level character and finding it hard to get upgrades still. In the last 4 levels only picked up 1 item my character could use, but I already had a better one from trading post. This bug still exists, I don’t understand why it has not been attended to.
Sony Online just launched their latest f2p MMO which supports thousands of players engaged in WvWvW like battlefield. Their WvWvW is the main dish of their game while GW2 WvWvW is just a side dish here. Some of our former WvWvW players are there in the new game currently.
Just saw the trailer to it, and my first reaction is woow. It is no GW2 but man, gives a new meaning to siege warfare. Now if only ANet would hurry up and fix our drops.
Yes, if you are in a dungeon, storyline, or some other instance, the restart timer is extended to give plenty of time to finish.
I don’t think ANet understands how this bug is hurting them and the community. I have plenty of time to play, so much so that at times I have pulled all nighters just playing. But when I get on, knowing I am going to hit the loot wall this bug has created, regardless of whether I grind in cursed shore or try to level up one of my low level characters, I get disheartened. I might play a little but the end result is that I will let out a sigh, go oh well, and switch off and play games on my iPhone, or watch random youtube vids instead.
The lowering of rewards for my time in the game compared to when I started playing is not only noticeable, it is game blocking because it makes it harder to level up characters, it makes it harder to get resources, it makes it harder to make coin, it makes it harder to customise characters, it makes it harder to enjoy the game.
Noticeably lower rewards = less enjoyable game. You would not enjoy your job as much if you had to take a pay cut and have to work harder. That is what’s happened here.
Last few days I have been playing a lot less because of this bug. I get on, do my gathering runs, play a little in cursed shore or WvW, see the low amount of loot and switch off disheartened at the low reward for my efforts compared to a month ago.
LA is always in overflow because it is the meeting area for fractals. Other areas are a lot quieter because of lower rewards for killing stuff so it’s not worth the time.
Just because he lead us all to victory against the undead menace and all you got was a pat on the back. You want your name spoken of in Tyrian history, but instead it is Trehearne whose name will be remembered. In fact I think the OP is right, we need an event where we can lynch Trehearne repeatedly for taking all the glory for our hard work.
So doing Orr events with MF on still “buugeg/work as intended”?
Yes, you are still better off without MF with those events.
They will not release the specific information because then bots would be programmed to counter it and render it’s purpose redundant.
This is why I asked instead, what ANet considers typical gameplay is that avoids DR.
What I see from ANet bug fixes it looks like when they test changes to fix bugs, they are only testing for the bug itself, and not testing to see if those changes obviously effect something else.
The same seems to occur with feature changes, an example of this is the loot drop bug. When this was introduced they were attempting to increase drop quality of vets and champs, guarentee drops from champs, and also scale loot for your level on maps down to 2/3 of your level (if I read correctly). All 3 of these touched loot drops, and it is obvious that one or all of these contributed to the lowering of total amount and quality of loot drops. Why was this not picked up in QA? My guess is they were only testing for certain things under certain conditions and not looking at loot as a whole.
I have asked in different ways how ANet wants the typical player to play, since a typical player is not ment to hit DR, with no response. I too would like to know how DR “really” works and how ANet recommends we play to avoid it. I do not think DR is the issue with the loot drop rate bug as I ran through a series of events today, not repeating a single one, and still got junk compared to what we used to get over 3 weeks ago.
Kind of frustrating when one of the GW2 team says there needs to be better communication, yet on this issue, there is no communication. Meanwhile there is communication in other threads, heck the jumping issue got a response and was hotfixed only hours after it was 1st reported.
When can we see a response on this issue, seriously, if it was in our favour it would of been fixed by now.
Still laggy/jumpy after hotfix even in “quiet” areas.
I am levelling an elementalist at them moment and find it one of the more difficult classes to stay alive with. I do more damage in downed state than I do with my staff, and if 2 or more foes attack me I have a hard time staying alive while trying to spam are skills to kill them before they kill me. Do not “fix” elementalist any more please.
I tend to press and hold jump, and i am finding that this bug is really annoying when trying to do vistas where jumping gaps are involved. Press forward + space quite often results in you walking off the edge rather than jumping across the gap.
Prior to 3/12 patch my game was smooth with best performance settings, now it’s super jumpy and laggy, sitting around 17 fps and dropping as low as 1 fps when trying to do pent/shelter. WvW is much worse. Before this patch I was getting constant 31 fps ( with frame limiter)
This issue still exists, did the entire event chain from Caer to Arah, did not fill 30 slots, got more crafting mats/bag/savagable, next was junk, then 8 whites, 12 blues, 1 green. And I had crit numbers going all over the screen with my grenade spamming.
Champs and vets still rarely drop anything.
(edited by wildcode.5403)
New build but no patch notes, time to grab my engineer and hit pent/shelter to see if they fixed drops will update in about 30mins.
Some other MMOs have special scripts detecting abnormal activities of every character. Movement speed higher than any buff would provide, attack speed above the maximum cap, cooldowns reduction/removal, teleports
I used to play a game where is was possible to increase your speed, but too fast and you hit terminal velocity and died, thats what they need to check here, amongst other things. This plus a death layer just under the surface, with the message “You materialized in solid rock, killing you instantly”.
Before the bot bad, omnomberries were low in price, as soon as the mass ban happened, the price went up, way up, now the price is creaping back down, maybe reflecting the bots supplying more than people are buying.
And a simple solution for ANet to combat teleporting bots, a death layer just under the surface of the map … they wont teleport very far
I recieved a mail from someone claiming to be legion of honour having issues inviting me to the Operation:Union guild, but when I tried to reply there was no such person
Is there a way we can contact Chris Whiteside directly about this, maybe he doesn’t know that no-one has responded to this. He seemed keen to have it investigated at the AMA last week despite initially ignoring the topic. Almost a week on an we’ve heard nothing.
Will have to start logging in more to see what the bot activities are re-tooling to, and watch some tp prices. Rather sorry state of affairs when the only real impetus to log in is monitor the throes of the game’s economics post-Nexon monetization.
Teleporting bots have been more noticable in Orr, expect prices of Ori, Omnom, and Ancient Wood to drop, cutting down the alternate source of income while this loot drop bug exsists.
While people buy gems with in game money, the price of gold for gems will continue to go up. On the plus side this means gems to gold is also increasing and at some point you’ll be able to drop $50 and get a large amount of gold.
People have done this with other items as well. Anet should fill these unfillable over the top orders so that people will stop using this bug to show off their cash.
Something a little constructive now, how I intend to get around this issue, and the loot drop bug, and make the 600G within a couple of months.
1st – Level 1 character of each profession to 80
2nd – once level 80, get them to FGS, ML, Cursed Shore, and the new island and explore a little to unlock way points that maybe useful for 3rd step.
3rd – gather, gather ori, omnom, ancient wood, and the occassional rich mithril
4th – sell on TP @ lowest sell order price
5th – move TP profits from TP to bank
6th – use said profits to keep characters own wallet above 1G
7th – once gathering done for the day, play as you like without worrying about coin
Yes it take alot of time to set it up, and yes it can take a few hours to go through all characters and gather in what you hope is an optimal path, but its not grinding, and income does not depend on luck. With 8 characters you are guarenteed an income of 10G/day (atleast), and you can chose what your favorate class of the day is to play normally with.
I have heard of people doing this with 15 characters but that would leave me little time to play.
i’m starting to think Bluestone.7106 is trolling us.
I just have a different opinion. Don’t be that person that throws the word troll around just to derail a discussion.
Your opinion is to belittle our experiences by telling us that we are playing the game wrong if we are not making enough money (including dieing to much). Yesterday, I made about 75s from loot yesterday. Let see how, I did some spvp, ran a few different events for a while, ran all over the place for those events (not just the same spot) including waypointing. Did have some repairs to do after Grenth because like a possessive partner she would not leave me alone. I did not grind yesterday so the 75s is just from normal game play.
Now, 75s from NPC’s for the day (after repairs and waypointing). I need 600G for Legendary … about 2 years and 2 months … yeah drop rate bug is definitly an issue if I dont grind. Sure I may get lucky once in a while and obtain a big ticket item, but without the grind I have no hope of getting a legendary any time soon, and even with the grind, the loot drop bug still makes it take much longer than it used to take.
Is there anything more the devs would like us to supply to help nail this bug down. I did notice with the Nov 15 patch there was also loot scaling based on level done. Maybe this could be the problem, although the champ/vet improvement obviously has not worked as intended from patch notes.
Please how can we help you get this fixed quicker.
People who die too much waste money on repair costs. Repair costs take away money that could go towards other things like saving for legendaries. It is basic math really.
You’ve gone from saying we are wasting money on stupid purchaces, to wasting money on repairs. I refuse to run around naked to make my money. Yes sometimes we die way too much when leveling a character, but that is only because the loot drop bug has prevented us from upgraded our armor and weapons for the last 15 levels and we’re trying to manage with what we have.
I have no sympathy for people who think they should be able to easily make legendaries, they aren’t meant to be easy. Anyone can have a legendary it just takes most people longer due to simple luck (RNG).
You miss the point of this thread, which is saying that it is getting much harder to earn the money to get legendary than it used to be. The loot drop bug does not help matters, it is not just simple bad luck, it is a real issue, read the 9 page thread on it.
I don’t farm ever and I make profit every day. I do the occasional dungeon, I level alts, I play with low level friends. I basically just try enjoy the game and I am never short of money for repairs, travel and savings towards bigger things.
The the luck of the 6 gods is on your side while the rest of us suffer and struggle with the loot drop bug.
It is very easy to make enough money in GW2 to cover repairs and travel and buying food potions and saving for bigger purchases.
I simply assume the people who complain about making money are either too impatient to save for a legendary precursor, or wasting their money on stupid purchases and leaving nothing for repairs and travel.
Answer to point 1: Currently the loot drop rate bug reduces earnings from farming events down to between 38s-50s per hour. I almost ran out of cash and spent a day and a bit (over 12 hours game play) to earn 4G from chaining events in Cursed Shore.
Answer to point 2: It is hard to waste money on stupid purchace when it is very hard to come by in the 1st place. I have had to resort to selling crafting materials as well as other loot to make any sort of income without having to grind every few days to cover the cost of waypointing all over the place and repairs. I know I need some of those crafting materials (like ori) for legendary but money to keep enjoying the game is more important.
Teleporting gathering bot, they’ve been around for a while, just harder to spot because they are inside the map most of the time. Some (not all) have a “tell” that they are a bot, right when they appear they will act erratic, harvest then vanish.
sigh this thread again.
Farm more.
The only way I see you getting a legendary is if you stop posting these kinds of threads, get an MF set, and farm the crap out of CS. Had a friend who farmed for a week, got himself around 200-300g.
sigh not this again
loot drops and Magic Find is currently broken.
The only way Magic Find works for you at the moment is if you want crafting materials, while getting much less of everything else. Farming for the gold in Cursed Shore, with the current loot bug, (without selling crafting mats) for 600G will take you about 1,578 hours. If the average player gets on for lets say 6 hours a day, it will take you 263 days. Before the loot bug and plinx nerf it was possible to get it within a month.
The code the mini-golem boss gives in the final room of the Crucible translates
to P-A-L-E-T-R-E-E
No!, Can not be! Its a lie, a lie I tell you, a conspiracy by the elder dragons to tarnish a loving uncorruptable people. Take it back … take … it … back ….
If I interperate the wiki correctly, the more you trigger DR the longer it stays, account wide, until daily reset. So grinding for 3 hours doing shelter/pent could trigger it quite a bit effecting you for the rest of the day, or not at all. No one is really sure what ANet consider “normal” play. Would be nice if they defined what they consider normal so we can all adjust our “farming” styles to fit.
•The drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans, and players in WvW) has been increased. Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot. This was to ensure that world loot drops were not a significantly worse way of acquiring rare and exotic items than crafting and running dungeons.
•The amount of loot that drops for downscaled players has been increased. You should now be able to receive level-equivalent loot until you are fighting at a downscaled level that is less than 2/3 of your actual level. You should also receive loot a greater percentage of the time as well as receiving a greater percentage of experience, gold, and karma. For level 80 characters, this means level 55+ areas will be able to drop level 80 gear and give about 75% or so of the other rewards. Previously, these areas would give level 77 gear at best and closer to 60% or so of your rewards.
So we all know the 1st point I posted is completely broken, champs and vets still hardly drop anything and if they do its never anything worth the effort.
But no-ones pointed out the 2nd point … which changes the loot based on level difference. Maybe we getting less and lower quality becuase we’re in areas for our level and need to be fighting level 55 mobs to get the loot we so crave. Maybe this scaling of loot is the reason we getting less and crappier stuff in open world.
I have to test this but not tonight, it is late and I’m going to bed.

Problem: how do I get together with other people regularly in my guilds quiet time without changing guilds.
Answer: post in this thread and hope some Aussies respond for night time romp around the GW2 countryside.
Name: wildcode
Main Charater: For security reasons I wont post here
Server: Yaks Bend
Interested Activities: Ori/Omnom/Ancient wood Gtheringing, Leveling, Pent/Shelter/Jofast, WvWvW, and if I feel like getting frustrated, jumping puzzles.
Active: Any time between UTC 22:00 – 12:30 (But looking for people to play with when the Americans are asleep.)
Are you willing to Participate in Operation Unions project: Sure.
Could you explain how this is currently used for an advantage?
Well, there are vids on youtube showing poeple in WvW going into rocks/mountains (in areas where they shouldn’t be) to get access to one of the keeps without having to break down one of the walls/doors, and kill the lord.
I’ve seen these bots harvesting ori in 2 maps of Orr, they probably the reason why omomberries dropped by 70c in 2 days.
How to fix some of the teleporting bots, put a death layer just under the surface of the map, pass through death layer (a trivial test using current and previous location) sever kills you. This will aslo fix people using map bugs to their advantage.

I don’t know about EB, but I know in borderlands, everytime I’ve done the jumping puzzle there has been a gentlemens agreement among the players. And some guilds consider it bad form to attack anyone in the puzzle unless attacked 1st.
I did see a video on EB once that showed that it was designed to allow greifing, IE: being able to set off traps preventing others from completing the puzzle.
Serously, out of all the dragons, Jormag has to be the cutest, even with the bad breath.
