1. A 20% cooldown would mean you could cast it 42seconds earlier.
2. you can’t take death nova/boon strip grandmaster
3. when you completely disregard venoms because it requires thieves to go 30 into Shadow Arts, which is regarded by most an overpowered trait line, you sound extremely ignorant.
1. So you admit to having the most powerful skill in PvE, and you want it buffed? lol, no thanks.
2. Yay, you finally got it.
3. I clearly stated “PvE” in my post. Not my fault you can’t/didn’t read. You should learn from my example because your blanket statement regarding shadow arts being overpowered is laughable.
Snide remarks aside, it is issues just like this one that make me feel that arenanet needs to move away from skills behaving identically in PvE and PvP.
You forgot to mention that it would require 30 point investment in shadow arts & deadly arts, which no pve thief would do due to the insane dps sacrifices that would be required to do so.
Pve isn’t the only game type, and besides, everyone knows the only understanding of your class you need for pve is which skill does the biggest numbers and how to stack on the same spot to 1 spam.
Ah, the good ole 30/30/30/30/30 build. Also, even if that build was possible, it would still be significantly inferior to time warp. Necro minions suck.
Again, Pve isn’t the only game type and minions are extremely prevalent in spvp/tpvp.
1. You still have the indisputably best elite skill in 1 of 3 game types. You have the GW2 version of heroism, but more powerful. Stop whining about it. Changing it to a glamour would make it wildly overpowered.
2. Doesn’t change the fact that said build is impossible.
3. spvp/tpvp isn’t the only game type.
Just stop.
No.
All of this. Infact, looking at Elite skills shows that every class but Mesmer is able to trait to affect at least one of their elites. Fun times.
Guardians can’t. It’s absurd how much misinformation is in this thread.
It’s not like other classes have an elite on a 45 second base cooldown that can be traited to give 2 stacks of 20second might when used and traited to reduce the cooldown and traited to last longer and traited to lifesteal when activated and traited to be aoe shared to allies.
You forgot to mention that it would require 30 point investment in shadow arts & deadly arts, which no pve thief would do due to the insane dps sacrifices that would be required to do so.
Oh and it would still be worse than time warp for pve.
So, congrats on having a superior elite without needing to spend a single trait point on it!
Edit:
Edit: Or how about an elite on a 60 second cooldown that can be traited to increase damage and traited to give you extra toughness and traited to have a lower cooldown and traited to have more health and traited to cause a death nova when it dies and traited to strip boons on attacks and traited to drain health to you and traited to draw conditions from you.
Ah, the good ole 30/30/30/30/30 build. Also, even if that build was possible, it would still be significantly inferior to time warp. Necro minions suck.

Thieves are pretty underwhelming in PvE. Disappointing that ArenaNet keeps dishing out unwarranted nerfs across the board instead of doing the sensible thing and separating PvE from PvP.
I think you was alredy rewarded for playing gw1? so why are you complaining?
Could not agree more with this. We knew what all of the HoM rewards would be way before GW2 came out. There are dozens of unique armor/weapon skins, some minis, some ranger pets, a title “track”, hundreds of achievement points AND a unique zone solely for us designed after an area in the first game. Really, really cool.
In fact, ArenaNet has rewarded its prequel players above and beyond any company I have ever seen. Asking them to do more or to retroactively add more rewards is very selfish. They told us what the rewards would be and then gave them to us. Content from here on out should be available to the general public and using it for revenue to keep the game running is terrific, even if it is taken from gw1.
Like you said OP, we have the equivalent of torment weapons in GW2 already: LEGENDARIES. Now go make one to make yourself feel special again since it sounds like getting 50/50 isn’t enough.
Speak for yourself, that’s how it happens for me nine days out of ten.
You’re absurdly lucky. I’ve been dedicated several hours / day for the past 10 days playing pve gw2 and the closest I’ve come to “natural” is 4/5 which happened once. Every other day I have to go find a stupid laurel vendor or waste 750 karma or go to some zone I don’t care about and kill a bunch of mobs I don’t care about. It’s really annoying.
I always kill tons of vets, several champs, complete multiple events & group events, run a dungeon and a fractal and craft tons of items in my daily play. It is ridiculous that this doesn’t guarantee the daily completion.
100 % shure :P
You are 100% wrong. You didn’t fake it, but it’s also not a 97k crit. It’s overlap. When a crit damage is displayed, all of its numbers are the same size. In this image the 976 crit is clearly on top of an x76 damage value from before, probably another 976 dagger storm crit.
Sorry to burst your bubble.
And it was not an overlap it was just loads of hits put together just like hundred blades do. just on steroids. the 480 hit was dagger 1 followup from my dagger storm :P
Dagger storm damage doesn’t stack like hundred blades does. Each dagger you throw displays its independent damage value.

I don’t understand why you guys are turning this into a zerk gear troll thread and ignoring the lfg aspect of it.
It is a simple request, and a very good one. Most of the filters suggested make complete sense. Max level checkbox? Definite must. Exotic gear minimum checkbox? Absolutely. I disagree about the experience filter as that creates a catch-22 for new players, but stat filters? Definitely. If you’re looking for people in zerker gear, why shouldn’t you be able to autoscreen those who would ignore your typed request?
Do you even play the game? I have a lot of complaints regarding the new lion’s arch event, but particle effects obscuring bosses & their attacks is not one of them. I’ve never had an easier time dodging boss attacks than with the knights and hologram. The telegraphed attacks are blatant, and appreciated.
If you’re getting killed by things you can’t see, you need to pay closer attention.
Whatever you do, don’t do the new event. It’s insanely bugged and a complete waste of time. Arenanet doesn’t believe in testing their code apparently.
Think of it as a PSA to the community letting everyone know once and for all that condition builds are bad (in PvE). It’ll be beneficial in the long run as more and more people switch over to power/crit and champs start dropping that much faster.
Time to shelve your condition chars and roll a warrior!
Personally, I prefer to give support to the parties I’m with, Guardian is my lead role and that’s how its been since the beginning. It’s also unfortunate that stats, Cleric/Soldier, doesn’t offer much do to Damage and are very unpopular.
Another question I have is this; would the Support-Type professions be utilized if the Dungeons recommended or required at least one in a party?
Support Type professions are already utilized. They just do it with berserker gear so that while their support skills are on cooldown they can be doing reasonable damage.
To answer your question, yes, I participate in Dungeons and that’s the reason I brought this topic to fruition. Regarding the comment shown, I believe this is exactly why Dungeons need to be altered.
My question for you is; should Arena Net remove the ability, Dodge, from every class in order to require more Healer/Tank classes and establish parties of different professions instead of one profession to “rule them all?”
I don’t think so. I just think the community just needs to get used to the fact that this game doesn’t have tanks and healers.
What would be awesome is if they could divorce pvp from pve so that they could buff PvE healing power & toughness such that they would be actual useful stats to have in pve. Regen tic’ing for 250 instead of 130 is a joke when mobs are hitting for 10k+.
There still wouldn’t be tanks & healers, but people who wear clerics / soldiers could actually be more useful.
Edit: I had a couple other things I wanted to point out. Berserker gear is not a profession. You should stop referring to it as such because profession already has an established meaning in the gw2 context.
The other point I wanted to make is the other type of damage dealing: conditions. Condition builds are already in a good place when they are by themselves. Stacking up the DoTs can do sizable dps – and specifically necro condition builds do by far the most dps when the # of targets > 3. The problem is you can only have one per group because of the idiotic way ArenaNet handles conditions. This is probably another issue that needs to be resolved in a pve/pvp split, but for pve exclusively the following changes need to be made: No more cap limit for bleeds & torment. Poison & burning need to stack per player. So if 5 players burn a boss, he needs to have 5 stacks of burning each with its own dps & duration, not a super long burning duration that does variable damage based on each player condition damage.
Those two changes alone would make condition damage a very viable alternative to power/crit in dungeons.
(edited by wolfpaq.7354)
Why are the Dungeons so simple to the point where no defense is necessary to complete? Why is it that one profession, or one build, complete Dungeons almost effortlessly?
Have you done dungeons? Defense is absolutely necessary. However, there are multiple kinds of defense. For example dodging comes built into every class, and is 100% damage reduction. Also many professions have the ability to negate or even reflect projectiles. Many classes come with built in evades other than dodges or blocks, all of which is 100% damage reduction. Defense from gear is probably the worst kind of defense because it’s only 10-15% DR which in the harder dungeons ends up not making a difference.
Another point – you may have heard the term “the best defense is a good offense”. Well, if you’re killing mobs in 10 seconds, you don’t need to worry as much about defense as you would in a group that takes 30 seconds.
Finally, it’s not any kind of secret why zerker is the best. The holy trinity in dungeons for MMOs has ALWAYS been tank, healer, dps. When arenanet removed tank & healer, guess what was left? Zerker gear is the best dps gear for almost every class, thus the most popular.
If gw2 state is down, which is seems to be kind of regularly when I’m checking it, there’s always gw2bear as well:
http://www.gw2bear.com/status.quaggan?check=Balthazar&server=NA
I would assume the default would be a modest “I don’t know” or at minimum a “probably not” but you just seemed so sure I thought you had proof.
If your qualification for knowing something requires absolute proof, I would venture to guess you know very little.
Number-split YES, Behaviour-split NO.
They have to or class balance in PvE will deteriorate past the point it already has (which is deplorable). Plus, behavior splitting has already been implemented, you just weren’t paying attention I guess.
This change absolutely shafted thieves in PvE. I hate that they balance everything around pvp. Ruins the rest of the game. They need to start splitting skills already. IR seems like a great place to start.
Hey guys, I’m trying to put together a build for my phantasm mesmer and I’ve come across a problem that the wiki is giving contrary answers to.
Phantasmal Haste – as I’m sure many of you are aware, this major trait is broken for several mesmer phantasms. I believe that the sword 5 and greatsword 4 (swordman & berserker) have been broken since release, at least from what I’ve read.
However, I thought the trait still worked for the focus 5 (warden). But the wiki is giving contrary information.
Here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Phantasmal_Haste
We have a chart showing delays for every phantasm, which shows warden at an 8 second delay traited and untraited. However
Here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Phantasmal_Warden
We have a note that claims the delay is 9 seconds, 7.2 when traited. Which is correct? Or are neither correct and there are other delays entirely?
Before I go I’d just like to point out that it’s absurd that I have to come to a forum or conduct complicated tests to figure out for which skills a major trait is broken. Shame on you arenanet for not fixing such blatant bugs in your game.
(edited by wolfpaq.7354)
I’d say one of the biggest red flags indicating arenanet has lost their way is their inclusion of skillpoints in the craft grind. Remember gathering cool skills in GW1? And using them to make new builds? I do. I wish there were new cool skills coming out in GW2 to pursue like they promised there would be back in June.
But nope, no such luck. In the process of grinding 200 skill points to craft my ascended items though. Thank goodness arenanet found a grind sink for that worthless currency. /s
The end game truly stinks. Hopefully the end of S1 indicates the start of something fresh where they actually focus on balance and the game enjoyment over meaningless temp content.
You’ve been OP since the healing signet insane overbuff. Fortunately arenanet will be toning that down soon, rightly so.
Terrible idea, no thanks.
It appears it’s YOU who don’t know how to play the game. All those things are optional. If you enjoy doing something it’s not a grind. If you don’t enjoy doing it then don’t do it.
If you don’t do any of those things you are no longer playing Guild Wars 2. Also, whether or not you like something has NOTHING to do with whether or not it is a grind.
They were introduced to keep people logging into the game every single day.
I’m fully aware why they introduced dailies. Dailies are bad game design because it punishes people for not logging in every day. It would be far superior design to change them to weeklies. It would accomplish the same goal, just better and more convenient for the players.
So you’re right, probably won’t happen.
It isn’t unless you voluntarily decide to go for the grindy parts of the game.
Spoken truly like someone who has no clue how the game works. There is literally nothing you can do in this game that isn’t a grind.
Achievements? 5k kills with EVERY WEAPON. Gogogo grind.
WvW? Grind those badges of honor!
Crafting? +100 more levels of PURE GRIND
Dungeons? Fractals? Hope you enjoy grinding those tokens!
Living story? Better grind those temp achievements, temp gear, and temp rare drops before your 2 week window times out!!!
They even managed to figure out a way to turn exploration into a grind with the countless vistas, PoI’s and skill points scattered about the maps, often frustratingly hidden with z-axis shenanigans.
Grind wars 2. Grind it or bust.
I would love for weeklies to replace dailies. Not everyone can play every day. We have lives.
Don’t do anything fancy. Just multiply the rewards x7 and tasks x7 (gather 140 items instead of 20 items, 7 dgns instead of 1 dgn, ect) and change the duration from 24 hrs to 168 hrs. It would drastically improve my enjoyment of the game, and most other life livers out there I’d imagine.
This would allow you to open up the dailys to have all possible ones available. This would truly allow us to play the game how we like.
(edited by wolfpaq.7354)
Stay away from ascended gear and this game will stay very enjoyable for you. Glad you like it!
It is pretty hilarious that they forgot the thief.. then later when they remembered they threw up a quick nerf. Because we are JUST like the engineer right?
Pathetic.
The sad thing is that this could be solved really easily. In fact the mechanics to do so are already in place (see traveler gear stat selection or the spinal blades stat selection…).
But no, arenanet insists gw2 means grind wars 2…

because you can’t use the same asura gate to walk back where you started? It’s not warcraft you know, we have fast and convenient ways of traveling.
I feel like you don’t know what the word convenient means. Previously we had access to all that stuff WITHOUT having to deal with annoying loading screens. Now we don’t. Do you even understand the point of having central hubs in an MMO? GW2 used to have one, now it doesn’t. Unless you pay $12.50.
How lazy are you really? If you have gold it takes maximum 30 minutes for you to get your crafting discipline to 500.
So because someone doesn’t want to level crafting they are lazy? Wow. You are a bad person, judging someone like that for no reason other than your pathetic self gratification.
There is absolutely no reason crafting should be required for this ascended backpiece. They are clearly meant as an event reward, therefore should be obtainable by anyone who participates in the event, regardless of their crafting skill.

and all of this can be solved by walking trough an asura gate!
No it cannot, because now you are missing access to mystic forge, southsun cove access, etc.
There is no defending it. ArenaNet took away the convenience of Lion’s Arch and is now selling it for $12.50.

The only thing missing from Vigil Keep that was in LA are the crafting stations.
Why do people keep saying this? You’re wrong.
It is missing
- crafting stations
- laurel venders
- class trainers
Please do some basic research before spreading misinformation like this. Seems like all the anet defending fanboys are very quick to cite this “fact” without bothering to think 2 seconds about whether or not it actually is true.
For this to happen ArenaNet would have to commit to a hard separation of pvp to pve. Currently all pve healing & tankiness is designed around pvp. Obviously player damage in pvp is significantly lower than in pve so it’s balanced for that.
However, what that leaves us with in pve is a situation where support healing is worthless, tankiness is worthless because they are being balanced against output from PLAYERS when we are being pitted against output from PVE.
I personally wish that arenanet would stop developing all this temp content and focus on making their game better, but for whatever reason they love all this fluff.
Hello. I just registered on your forums. I’m just starting up again after taking a long break so I’m hoping I can fit in with you guys. Looking forward to hearing from ya!
You can overwrite the sigil with a different one if you’re ok with losing the duplicate sigil of force. IIRC they are only a few gold to replace, if you’d rather not wait.
Generally you measure the difference between two classes by picking an area of the game and seeing how they compare. So let’s take a look at a couple areas of the game and see how they compare:
Mobility:
Warrior is far superior. Easy access to permanent swiftness, 25% speed boost when using a melee weapon, 3 different gap closers on 2 different weapons that do not require a target.
Guardian has no access to 25% movement, difficulty achieving permanent swiftness, no free 25% boost, only 1 gap closer that doesn’t require a target which is on a very long cooldown.
Survivability
As others have mentioned, Guardians have the lowest health pool, Warriors have the highest. However, guardians have access to several forms of blocks and blinds as well as many ways for handling condition removal which makes their low hp easier to maintain. They both use the highest armor class.
Group Utility
Warrior has a much easier time stacking boons like might and fury than guardian, as well as banners & “empowered allies” which provide unique stat boosts for the entire group. Guardian on the other hand can provide superior healing to allies through staff and one of the virtues as well as defenses with blocks & condition removal. Generally, the warrior is better for increasing a parties offensive capabilities, a guardian is better for increasing a group’s defensive capabilities.
I completely lost interest in the personal story when I found out that my “home” instance wasn’t customizable at all.
the 2 vote system is idiotic. Almost as idiotic as the group leader logging out and immediately removing everyone from the dungeon & resetting it. Two of the many design flaws that have persisted for an entire year without being addressed.
WE SURE GOT DEM TEMP FESTIVALS THO.
No joke I would 100% without hesitation trade every single temp event of the year away in return to ONE of those two problems being resolved.
(edited by wolfpaq.7354)
Oh look another thread filled with people who haven’t figured out that they can turn off map chat.
People harassing you in other chat mediums? Block them and report them. This isn’t rocket science people. I’ve blocked and reported many, MANY people and I have received zero repercussions for doing so because it was always justified.
If you’re still moping and upset because of what a randomite you never have to play with or talk to again for the rest of your life said to you, then the internet & MMOs may not be the place for you. Grow a thicker skin. If I killed myself every time someone told me to I’d be dead 100 times already.
I think OP is reffering to the Champion fix in the Pavilion. I at least asked for a nerf. And it was needed. Economy was breaking.
http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/24351 – This should show what I’m reffering to. When prices of certain items halves in a few days something that’s not supposed to happen is going on.
Uh, that’s exactly what Arenanet intended to happen. The market must be flooded with T6 materials to pave the way for T7 and crafting level 500.
I think the OP is misunderstanding some topics in this forum.
There’s nothing to misunderstand. There literally are people (some even in this thread!) asking for the new dungeon rewards / champ rewards to be nerfed. I guess some people don’t like farming champions & dungeons and are upset that others who enjoy farming are being rewarded for it.
(edited by wolfpaq.7354)
Ironically, the champs in places like Fields of Ruin are not being farmed
You’re confusing champion events with events that spawn champions based on scaling.
Personally, I’m confused by this thread in general. Why would you ever think that completing an event is bannable? I want to figure out what event you’re talking about and go complete it all the time now just to teach those farmers a lesson lol.
I think the biggest change that needs to happen is that arenanet needs to split the functionality of conditions & boons across pvp & pve/wvw because currently the identical implementations are not working at all.
They’ve done it with traits. They’ve done it with skills. It’s time to step it up and do the same with conditions so that condition builds can actually compete with zerker gear in pve and not quite so devestating in pvp.
Once this change is made it will clear the way to further pve changes that would make things like clerics gear worth using.
In the grand scheme of things wrong with guild wars, this is very very low on the list.
Here’s a solution: Instead of spamming the f key every time you see the interaction popup take 2 seconds to read what it is you’ll be doing.
I think he meant to ask why it isn’t automatically enabled.
The fact that you can get the vast majority of the dungeon reward by just hopping in for the last boss is what’s causing this problem. Yet another major flaw in arenanet’s dungeon design.
…You’re just left with weaker bleeds. Like 20-30 per tic weaker depending on how you spec.
I said “depending on how you spec”
….it’s not my fault none of you can read.
Right, and immediately afterwards someone pointed out a popular spec that would lose 4 damage per tic.
I’m not sure who taught you math, but 4 is not between 20 and 30.
Also, to lose 30 damage on your bleed tics you would have to lose a whopping 600 condition damage. You do realize that this is a discussion about runes right? To lose 600 condition damage you’d have to do a lot more than change spec & runes.
Basically you pulled 2 numbers out of thin air and you’re getting mad because you got called on your BS.
I dump them on dyes every time I reach 5. I might save for the minis or the tonic someday, but I won’t get on the gear treadmill, however it manifests.
I don’t think you know what the word “gear treadmill” means.
First of all, it’s not a word, it’s term. A word doesn’t have a space in it, that’s a dead giveaway.
Secondly, the term “gear treadmill” is widely regarded as the addition of a new “tier” of gear into the game, after release, that requires a significant grind to obtain.
Ascended items are a perfect example.
