In a five man group, it’s not really a problem.

Uh, no. In a five man group it’s a huge problem the minute you’ve got more than 1 condition build present. Several builds can maintain 20+ stacks of bleeds indefinitely.

And then there’s the whole condition damage is way less dps than power damage problem.

The cap is just the beginning. Even with no cap, condition scaling is much worse than power scaling for a variety of reasons. Condition damage needs a serious overhaul to become viable, unfortunately arenanet makes more money off temp content so they’ve let condition builds rot for a year (1.5 yrs if you count the BWE’s). Pretty infuriating but hey they are a business which means they care more about earning money than whether or not their game is high quality.

These are all wildly overpowered. If you want people to take you seriously you need to tone down the strength of these new traits to reasonable levels.

Like, comparable to what already exists in the game.

Like, not 1900 hp every 5 seconds or crazy regen/protection.

Like you said, warriors aren’t big on boons, so why are you trying to make them into something they aren’t?

Also, your version of Tactical Renewal would hardly be unique to the Warrior. Sigil of leeching & Elementalist Healing Ripple both heal on weapon (or attunement) swap, except they both are significantly weaker than your version which goes back to what I said at the beginning about toning it down if you want to be taken seriously.

Actually he’s complaining that he can’t work twice as hard and gear up 2 characters (twice the effort) in the same amount of time that someone with one character gears up his (same duration). Which is a different.

I’ll concede to this point, but it sounds more like he wants to be able to use two alts to gear up one in shorter time, which is an option that people without alts simply don’t have. If tokens were soulbound, that’d be a different issue… but it’d create its own mess of issues all the same.

At the end of the day, I think the change to alt-tokens is an unintended side effect of the token wallet implementation and, if I’m right, we’ll see the change reverted.

I think it was more a side effect of the dungeon reward changes but I suspect that it wasn’t a side effect. ArenaNet realized people were capable of gearing up multiple characters at once and had to put a stop to that.

We’ll see. I hope I’m wrong and they fix it, but I’m not holding my breath.

3g for other arah paths
1g for literally everything else.

I am no dungeon master, but I’m pretty sure that every single path of every dungeon in the game excluding AC & Arah is not equally difficult.

Well, obviously you aren’t optimizing your time because you aren’t enjoying it. That’s fine, but don’t expect your rewards to be optimized as well.

Why not? In guild wars 1 I had the best gear in the game as soon as I hit max level, no grinding required. You’re right though, shame on me for expecting guild wars 2 and it’s “no grinding required” advertisements to be truthful.

And oh yea, GW1 had them too. i.e. title tracks

I don’t care about title tracks! I ignored most of the title tracks in gw1 and guess what? My character had best in slot gear anyway. Why is this so hard for you to understand?

This is an excellent point and I hope ArenaNet does something to address this ridiculous discrepancy. Laurels are a perfect example. One year of PERFECT daily & monthly completion = 2 sets of ascended JEWELRY. That’s 5 / 18 slots btw.

You must be doing something wrong. I have 4 alts full of ascended jewelry, + over 100 laurels saved up.

Are you properly utilizing your fractal relics and guild commendations, and badges of honor?

I’m talking about laurels. You know, the only reward in the game that actually rewards you for playing the game. Not the rewards for jumping through ridiculously hoops (sometimes quite literally), WvW zerging for hours or doing the same boring fractals over and over and over again. Let me guess, you also have an ascended backpiece infused? That’s 2350 fractal relics. Kitten that kitten.

So yes, I am doing something wrong. I’m playing the game I enjoy playing it, the way arenanet advertised it could be played with “no vertical progression”. And here I am stuck behind vertical progression because of it.

please tell me you realize this. actually, it’s fairly obvious that you do not realize it as your entire post is based on your lack of comprehension of this fact.

As for people who aren’t hardcore dungeon runners… why are you worrying about them? They will not be the ones finding the optimal dungeons to run. They certainly will not be doing every path every day. For, again, NON hardcore dungeon runners, running every path every day will never happen. For the others, they will not only earn less gold / hr, but they will also hit a hard cap when they run out of paths to run (a cap which previously did not exist).

Almost any reward of worth is now being limited on a “once per day per account” basis.
However, the task of gearing and leveling multiple characters requires you to split those rewards amongst them, thus making extra characters a burden on your account.

The thing with condition damage is that even though it’s inferior, at least you’re trying to do damage, so like people wearing rampagers I wouldn’t fault them too much.

But if you’re rolling in full soldiers then I have every right to kick you out of my group because you’re essentially leeching. Doing ~5% of the group’s damage just so you can “take a hit” or heal for a couple hundred more every 15-40 seconds is pathetic, and indeed selfish.

Gain 5 seconds of protection and retaliation when you deliver a critical melee hit. This effect can only trigger once every 10 seconds.

How about this:

Gain 30 seconds of protection, regeneration and retaliation and remove all conditions every time healing signet ticks. This effect can only trigger once every 10 seconds.

Perfectly balanced.

I can’t believe I have to explain this. Poison is not a counter to healing signet. If you have a long duration poison on you, use adrenaline. Poison gone. You suffered a couple tics of 268 instead of 400, not a big deal. If you have a short duration poison on you, ignore it. You suffered a couple tics of 268 instead of 400, not a big deal.

As opposed to say, healing surge. Stage 3 heal is 9820 health. Opponent drops poison on you during the 1 second cast time? 6579 instead of 9829. Huge deal.

Also using “burst” as your so called counter is ridiculous. Regardless of how you built your warrior, you have guaranteed burst counters in the form of dodge. Say you get a warrior to 50%? So what? Now you’ve used your burst. It’s on cooldown. And he’s gaining 1.2k health every 3 seconds for free – no skill – no cast time – no trade off – while you wait for your burst to recharge.

I don’t care which class has it or what skill it is as long as it requires an active use.

This matters for several reasons. You actively have to choose when to heal. This requires skill. This requires a break from DPSing. Maybe you timed it with stability so you wouldn’t be interrupted. This requires TRADE OFF.

This also comes with risk & a possibility for opponents to counter you. You are vulnerable for that 1 second cast time during which any number of things could happen. You could be poisoned. You could be CC’d. You could be interrupted.

Furthermore, even if you get the heal off successfully, it is now on a cool down. This means that an opponent knows how roughly how long he has during which time you have no heal skill access. A smart opponent knows exactly how long that window is and can coordinate his move set to be executed in that window.

You see what I’m getting at I hope. Knowing when to heal is a HUGE part of skilled pvp play. A signet passive has zero counter play and requires no risk. You can’t daze it, you can’t poison it unless you are capable of perma poison (which against a smart warrior is pretty much impossible), and it has no cooldown. You can’t interrupt it with CC. It is completely uncounterable and requires zero skill. Put on bar, gain best HPS in game.

Yes, but when you have a burst heal, you can pop it between poison applications or after cleansing it off of you. Think outside the box. Healing Signet is also very susceptible to spike damage and in my opinion practically worthless in a group fight. I wouldn’t even use it for a 1v1 personally, but I am still not going to let you people who think you should be able to walk all over warriors come in here and complain about things that are just fine. You got outplayed buddy, deal with it.

I know very well which skills cause protection.

I was hoping you would take a look and learn some things for yourself. Suffice it to say that 1 class is capable of “high protection uptime” and that class requires use of a weapon set that is extremely easy to counter.

I was hoping you’d learn a thing or two about actual trade offs other classes have to make to obtain protection, as opposed to the warrior “put signet on bar, gain best HPS in game” trade off.

Also for the last time, I’m not posting because I got lost to a warrior. I’m posting because regardless of how you look at it, healing signet is overpowered. It’s not a gut feeling, it’s not a hunch, it’s not an angry reactive “I JUST LOST SO NERF”. It’s simple. The highest HPS healing skill in the game should not be a signet passive.

Yeah, ok.

That’s right. It’s called balance. For instance, many classes have access to good regen and high protection up-time. Why should a warrior have no access to protection and inferior regen? You have to take everything into account when you balance, not just whether x skill is equal to y skill.

Yeah about that balance. Regen is removable. Protection is removable. Lots of classes have access to boon stripping.

Please, list the “many classes” who have “high protection uptime”. Then we can talk about this point further, but I guarantee the 1-2 classes you’re actually talking about have to make sacrifices for that high uptime. Low dps weapon sets, trait investment, boon duration increases, etc.

There is no counter to signet passives. Can’t be removed, never expires. Furthermore, warriors need to make literally zero sacrifices or trait investments or tradeoffs. Throw signet on bar, gain highest HPS from a healing skill in the game.

It’s called balance. Healing signet currently isn’t. Utterly broken.

Mathed out from back when I was playing one.

Over 40s, with clerics gear, 0/0/10/30/30 elementalists can achieve above 50k healing in 40s, popping all healing cooldowns on demand.

Over 40s, with any gear they want, x/x/x/x/x warriors can achieve 16k healing in 40s, popping no cooldowns.

Balanced? Not quite, but not the best sustain in the game by a longshot.

Thanks for mathing it out, but I should have been more clear. Best HPS in the game from a healing skill. Easily the highest HPS in the game without using a single skill. With 0 healing power.

I have no problem with elementalists utilizing their combo fields & finishers and water attunement & cleric’s gear to attain high levels of sustain because that requires a certain level of skill to do especially in a high stress environment and they give up a huge chunk of damage potential to achieve that.

Throwing your signet on the bar and then never using it giving 400 hp / second regardless of your healing power and gear and skill is ludicrous.

I agree with you. It shouldn’t be a huge nerf, all I’m saying is that you shouldn’t get the best HPS in the game from a signet passive.

It’s crazy to me that there are people that think it’s ok that a SIGNET PASSIVE has the highest HPS in the game. Permanent, unremovable, uninterruptable completely nonsensical.

Healing signet outsustains every class in the game with zero thought or skill. Equip signet on bar, get best sustain in the game by far. No need for specialized traits, runes, sigils, nada.

Uh no. Poison reduces healing signet to the hps of the average heal in the game. Except it’s still 100% passive and ticking nonstop every second. Not to mention reduce condition duration & condition removal hard counters it.

Burst damage? Oh wow, ok, why didn’t I think about that. I’ll just 100-0 the warrior with my guaranteed unblockable undodgeable unstunnable burst damage. Thanks for the great advice.

Uh, no. There are several completely valid negative threads on all kinds of topics. How about for starters

1) Excessive grinding for best in slot gear. This is not SKINS. This is not LEGENDARIES. This is simply to have the best piece of gear for 1 armor slot and excessive amount of grinding is required. Easy example: backpiece – 2350 fractal tokens. 6 months of doing dailies every day and monthlies every month to equip ONE character with ONE set of jewelry/accessories. I am absolutely dreading how bad the grind will be once ascended weapons & armor get released.

2) Dungeons are bad. Period. It is an excellent example of terrible design. Now this in and of itself can spawn its own negative threads but most of them focus on any number of the glaring flaws: 1 person can kick the entire group and reset the dungeon at any time, wildly inconsistent reward per time invested & difficulties across explorable modes, godawful token system, etc. Other games clearly label the hard dungeons as hard and give significantly increased rewards for them. GW2? Nope. CoF1 gives identical rewards to CoF3. Embarrassing.

3) Item variety & to a larger extent build variety. You are doing nothing but hurting yourself and your groups if you use anything other than berserker gear and spec for anything other than raw damage/team damage. Condition damage is terrible, healing power is a complete joke, toughness and vitality are pointless dodge DR > *. This is the case at fractals 1, it is the case at fractals 48, it is the case in CoF 1 and every other dungeon and path. Power, Precision, Crit Damage, Zerker gear. Nothing else is worth bringing, and it’s terrible game design. Why have 10+ different major stat combos on gear when only 1 of them is worthwhile for PvE?

I could go on but I think I’ve proven my point. And instead of fixing these glaring flaws they keep throwing these mundane festivals at us. It’s maddening.

Good thing arenanet is nerfing dungeon rewards instead of fixing the ludicrous problems with them.

It is absolutely awful design that one person can unilaterally decide to reset the dungeon for the entire team. What were they thinking? How has this not been fixed or even addressed when the game has been out for a year!?

That they are hailing their dungeon reward nerf as “Bonus Rewards for Dungeons”? Let’s face it, gold / hr and probably tokens per hour are about to take a nose dive. Despite their frequent nerfs and drastic diminishing return implementation we are still getting a bigger nerf. Sigh.

What do you think the odds are of some actual quality of life fixes dungeons have desperately needed for a year now? Opener kicking entire group? 2 votes = kick? Gross exp path difficulty discrepancies? Low levels leeching high level dungeon bonus xp?

Meh. As long as we are further punished for doing the dungeons we enjoy I guess all these problems don’t really matter. So unfortunate. Not like vanilla dungeons will matter anymore anyway once ascended weapons and armor come out. Arenanet never bothered to add ascended accessories, back, amulet, rings to the vanilla dungeons, why would they bother adding weapons and armor to them?

I’m sure they’ll be added to fractals though because farming 2350 tokens for one stat combination on one slot for one character is so fun!

I think too many people are abusing AC to fast level.

Uh, running level appropriate dungeons to gain experience is not abuse.

Swapping to your low level character and taking him into a max level dungeon just before the final boss goes down on the other hand…

Arenanet just really doesn’t know what they are doing when it comes to dungeons. Opener able to dump the party at any time, only 2 votes for a successful party kick, terrible loot rewards, ridiculously imbalanced explorable paths which they are now cementing as such with the variable reward system. I could go on but it’s just depressing how many great examples of dungeon systems there are that they just tossed out the window and went with their special home grown clusterkitten which is an awful experience for the vast majority of the playerbase.

And instead of fixes and improvements we get this temp festival fluff content that no one cares about except for the AP it gets them. I’m terrified of what’s going to happen to dungeons with this August 6th update & the eventual lfg tool.

One of the biggest things that changed since I took my break is that you are now rewarded for achievement points, and rewarded in a major way.

Another major thing they changed since I’ve been away is that daily and monthly achievements reward “laurels” which can be used to purchase the best gear in the game. It will take you a lot of work, but at least you don’t have to grind away at fractals and pray to the RNG gods anymore.

Anyway, based on that you’ve got a couple options

- Make sure you complete your daily set of achievements each day
- Try to complete the July monthly although it may be too late at this point unless you are a very hardcore player. 10 dungeon runs and 50 WvW kills are 2 of the easiest, just check on gw2lfg for CoF P1 runs, they last 15 minutes max and run around in a zerg in the battleground of your choice.
- Living World Achievements for the Bazaar of the four winds & cutthroat politics – do these. You’ve got till august 6th. I’d focus on the meta achievements, don’t worry about full completion.

Oh one more thing. They added guild missions and “commendations” since I left. They also added pristine fractal fragments. These are 2 new currencies that you can also use as well as laurels to get ascended gear. So…

- Find a guild that does guild missions, run the missions with them.
- Get your personal reward level up to 10 in fractals and then do level 10 fractals once / day.

Power in screenshots: 3462
Therefore
Power with 10 might: 3392

Furthermore 2 might stacks = 70 power not 50 power so even if I hadn’t accounted for it there would still be a discrepancy.

Keep in mind that the number on the right of the character sheet is “attack” which is the max top end of a weapon + power, this number is largely pointless. His actual power stat is only “3,462” in those screenshots.

Just put 15 points in radiance for the following 3 extremely synergetic talents:

- Justice is Blind
- Blind Exposure (VI)
- Renewed Justice

Then get Inspired Virtues (5 points in virtues) for further synergy.
Then do whatever you want.

Other notable adept and master talents include

Zeal II: 10% more damage to burning targets
Honor II: Shout CD redux – guardian travel sucks, relies heavily on shouts for swiftness
Honor VIII: Might on crit for party
Honor IX: 20% cooldown reduction on all 2h weapons

Should be enough to get you started. Play around with the various weapon sets, personally for leveling I used sword/focus & greatsword, swapping to staff for travel.

Note: when trying to stack swiftness make sure you use your shout (retreat or save yourselves) after gaining the swiftness from symbol of swiftness because otherwise the duration won’t stack.

Could you tell me what build you were running?

I’ve been entering values into a calc trying to reproduce 4500+ power from your screenshot with just 12 stacks of might and nothing I’ve put in even comes close. If you could link to a calc with 4500 power showing that would be perfect, but describing it would be fine too.

Maybe I’m not sure what power stone is?
