Warrior Nuuk (80 War)
[ALS], Anvil Rock
True, only 1 person needs story completed in order to open the explorable instance. He/she needs to go first to open it.
1) make sure you get your dailies/monthlies
2) The DE chains that run across straights and Malchors aren’t bad. Use karma boosters.
3) you can trade fractal tokens for obsidian shards. With good fractal groups, this can come out to be the equivalent of 8-12k karma/hr.
4) WvW supply camp raiding, karma boosters again are good.
It’s not affected by the daily server reset, it’s based on the times you did the dungeons.
Edit: tokens are affected, but you can still be hit with DR on karma, exp and silver.
The FPS issues are more due to CPU issues from optimization. I don’t think drivers will help much.
Comp specs:
i7-3280 3.6Ghz
Nvidia GTX 670 4Gb
16Gb Corsair DDR3 RAM
SSD
Asus P7X79 Pro Mobo
I was getting decent fps, capped at 60, would drop to 30 in really big WvW(max graphics). My card was bad so while it was RMA’d, I put in an old GTS 450 with max graphics I was only gettin 5-10 less fps on average. These 2 cards are leagues apart, yet barely much difference. It’s the CPU bottle necking GW2, not the GPU/Video drivers.
Edit: My 670 stays at about 40-60% usage.

First time on any Arah path can take you 2hrs, more if you really don’t know what’s going on. With experience, paths can be done in less than an hour. Dwayna can be killed but currently it seems to take good coordination with the sparks and lots of dps. She can be killed in less than 10mins with an experienced group. With all the complaining about her going on, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a nerf though. Anet has stated that the QA testers don’t have a problem with her, but who knows what setups they’re using, etc.
EDIT: it’s also worth noting that people have complained about Alpha and Lupi since launch and they haven’t been nerfed. People just adapted and learned. Anet could be waiting it out to see if the same happens.
(edited by wookalar.8952)
Confusion isn’t as great in Pve since mobs tend to attack slower. Also, players are hitting utilities and such that hit them for confusion also. It seems that some players don’t even notice confusion an keep spamming skills only to kill themselves.
Isn’t there a rune that does this with the 6th rune equipped?
Edit: nvm that’s a drakehound. Maybe they were just neutral mobs that aggro’d on you?
(edited by wookalar.8952)
Weapons I’ve done in the mystic forge have been SB on equip, which is reinforced by them being on the TP. They wouldn’t be SB if sold on TP. How ever I haven’t crafted the naegling specifically.
There are threads on this already, I’d recommend searching forums first.
There are rings with some +healing, but not main stat.
ANet is trying to promote not getting hit in the first place rather than taking hits and healing up. Every class has some kind of ability to block/teleport/dodge/invulnerable/reflect.
This is an interesting point. Think of it like preventative medicine/lifestyles. What’s better: exercising and eating right or not and have heart disease /obesity/etc then try to run damage control through surgery , bypass, etc? Or brushing and flossing everyday as opposed to not, then having to go through root canals, pulled teeth, etc?
So basically, you want to try to prevent damage in the first place through the above items, then use healing as damage control if you mess up. It’s more of a last resort, rather than the first thing to go to.
AC 1,2,3, COF1,2, SE3, TA up are all pretty quick, hotw1 used to be good till last patch
What did they change? Haven’t done it since patch and don’t see notes on it.
Learn to dodge.
This is what my 2 paragraphs boil down to, short, sweet and to the point.
You’re not understanding his aoe still. On path 2 it’s a ring. The deadly part is the space between the 2 rings surrounding you. If you stand still you’ll only get hit by ice a second later. So if rezzing, the aoe will stack around you and the downed person missing both of you. The ice if its after you will hit, but not bad. But really, if someone’s down they need to hit a tendril it’s the best way to get up rather than risking an inexperienced rezzer.
Also the attacks aren’t out of no where, he alternates between his 2 skills and randomly throws in the crystal. You only need to dodge the ring aoe, and can walk out of his other attacks/aoe. The people with self control that don’t just spam dodge when they see red are the ones who survive. They keep their endurance up for the aoe that needs the dodge.
Personally I really like Lornar’s Pass
This. I loved the transition in it. I started in the north in the snow and mines then there was that cool transition to the valley in the south.
You can target allies for merciful intervention by clicking on them in the party menu on the side.
P1 and p2 take 30mins or less each. With the chance of charged, it’s worth it. Biggest way to cut down on the time is melee’n Alpha. You can even berserker alpha in P2 since you can dodge all of his aoe ground spike in one dodge and walk out of his other aoe.

Hello,
I am amazed that some ppl play this game after having expeienced EVE, i myself like to do trial runs in other mmo´s and i kinda like GW2 , its a nice game, very well done and for explorers very beautyful e.c.t.
I just dont see how the game will grow.
I mean playing Eve for a while, and knowing that eve online is the ONLY mmo ever to write its own history, based on things that have happened ingame .
Now with Dust coming there will be nothing impossible to do, the sandbox makes it real. how to compete with something like that?
EVE FTW.
I played Eve for 2+ years. What I can say about it is: I think eve has the best concepts/ideas in an mmo, however, it’s often boring and a waste of time. Spending time carrier ratting etc to get money for war in which you end up sitting around for 3hrs only to get blue balled is so fun (sarcasm). Also, eve can easily take over your life, the fact that something can happen to your stuff at all times is awesome, but also can be stressful. This results in alarm clock ops, etc. not to mention, the times when you miss out in fun because you were logged out.
The difference between Eve and GW2 for me is: in GW2 you can have fun the moment you log in and only play for an hr, then log with no worries. If you did that with eve, you’d just be ratting or have enough time to roam around looking for a fight to little
avail.
This is my personal opinion however, I’m sure different people have different experiences.
TL:DR- Eve has great concepts, but requires a lot of time to have fun and most is ‘wait’. GW2 fun is more instant, but is simpler.
If you’re only concerned about stats, several dungeons have the same stat set, so you don’t have to run the same over and over. For example, soldiers stats (power, vit, tough) can be obtained from HotW, SE and I thiiiink CM. you can spread the grind between 3 dungeons for the stat.
Edit: as far as your idea goes. I’d be okay with a vendor that sold all the dungeon armors stats for any tokens at the same price per piece and they had a basic skin like WvW karma armor.

I’m in the 30’s and they’re as fast or faster than my sub-10 scale runs because people know what they’re doing at higher scales. Getting a few ‘long’ fractals you can finish an even scale in 1-1.5hrs. You can get done quicker if you get the short fractals. The only thing I’ve really noticed that is harder is heavy hitting agony and more mobs. The bosses might hit a little harder too, but their health seems to be the same.
Path 3 is the shortest, with a good group you can get it done in an hour-ish. That’s with skipping mobs.
I use 0/10/30/30/0, run with 40-50% crit chance no problem. It helps if you’re needing to catch up on health to swap to a faster hitting weapon is all.
I use 0/10/30/30/0, extremely similar build. I don’t know how ppl are crying about “AH” nerf when we can still use AH just fine.
It said coming in January in the blog post.
Also note, when GW1 launched it didn’t have a s many skills as it does now. They added 4 professions with skills for them plus new skills for the others as expansions were added. We are only in month 4 of GW2, who says new skills won’t be added like in gw1?
It removes a condition on someone near your target.
Heck, I look for dailies at 22+ just to thin out some of the players. If they made it past there, they have enough AR, are really good at dodging agony or in unfortunate cases, carried. I have more luck at 22-28 with groups as opposed to 20. So that’s why I would post for dailies at something other than 20.
If you ran AH with 0/10/30/30/0 with the empowering might trait, you barely got a nerf. So if you’re on the fence about AH it still works. Also, if you equip a superior sigil of blood and/or life stealing food, you make up for the healing loss by the VP nerf 3-4 times over.
How do you do more dps with the auto attack? It misses moving targets and only does like 400-600 a hit. I usually drop the aoe on a stationary target, then cleansing flame, he’ll be hit by both for a decent amount of ranged damage. My cleansing flame starts hitting for 700 then climbs to 4k at the end for several hits. It also hits several targets. you just need a bit of practice at aiming it. However, I stay away from ranged as a guardian because it just sucks most of the time.
I think guardians off hands need to be looked at. Focus received a small buff this last patch, but the ray is still finicky in my opinion. Shield is pretty appropriate, but very situational.
It’s the most damaging offhand for the guardian. I can get 4k hits with it for a few hits towrards the end of the #5 skill. So the only real use for it is boosting the sucky ranged dps of scepter. So, all in all, I use it only when I must range and don’t need a knockback/reflect.
Why are people QQing about this “nerf”? It’s better for non crit heavy builds making them able to dodge more, and since VP did NOT grant boons to anyone but yourself it’s a very very very very minor affect to AH over all.
Exactly, VP only gives YOU vigor. Thus, before the ‘nerf’ you only gained 70×5=350hp (just using 70 as an easy number, its like 71 or 72) in 5 seconds from VP. However, with the empowering might trait, you get (and still do) 70×5=350hp, then 350×5=1750hp if all your dungeon mates are in range. This is assuming a single target (but it doesnt matter, since empowering might trait would scale at the same rate with more mobs as VP would).
TL:DR-
1) Before ‘nerf’ you had approximately 350+1750= 2100 heal in 5s.
2) After ‘nerf’ you get approximatley 70+1750=1820 heal in 5s.
3) This isn’t even considering all the other ways you can dish out boons to heal that weren’t nerfed
4) Worse case scenario, its a 13.3% decrease in healing, but its really less once you consider the other boon giving options.
Didn’t really affect me at all. Vigorous Precision is not the main source of AH healing.
This ^. People haven’t realized it was only 1 source of AH healing. The might on crits was just as much coupled with shouts, empower, symbols and blast finishers. I’m still running this build since patch with little difference. It is noticeable at times, but still doable.
Edit: dodge rolls for heals as well.
(edited by wookalar.8952)
Well, the reflect skills are still invaluable when all the mobs spawn to basically turn their dps on them. I’d also recommend just point blanking him with a 1h sword for quick attacks then dodgin out when bubble goes down.
It always spikes during events and holidays. Halloween it skyrocketed, lost shores it went up as well. It’s no surprise, the same happened again.
Basically once you give other player boon(including yourself) no matter what type of method ( can be rune, active, passive ,etc) the heal will trigger. Why you nerf it Anet, Why?
They didn’t nerf that, they just nerfed the vigorous trait. Fire fields are the best with your blast finishers. Instead of 1 boon per person around you (thus a heal) its 5 per person since its 5 stacks of might.
If you post the exact same message more than 3 times in around 3-5 mins, you get suppressed. Change the way you say it and limit your post to once every 3-5 mins and you won’t get suppressed.
Alternatively, use gw2lfg.com
Good advice, sadly Fractals seems to be full of the worst type of players that are found in all mmo’s . If you do not know how to do each fractal exctly how it should be done for the fastest completion (mob skipping), or you ‘die’, or ask a question about what to do – you’ll be opening yourself upto a childish torrent of ‘omgnoob/ltp’ from the so called experts.
If you run fractals, make sure it is with a group of friends/guild not a pug!
Give it a rest.
There’s people who do that in all aspects of all games, you learn to ignore them.
Furthermore you’re hugely exaggerating how often that happens. I’m stitting at 77/100 for fractal frequenter and I’ve one seen one person like that.
Furthermore if you don’t know how to do fractals then you’re most likely at level 1/2/3 which means these “experts” are already higher levels.
I agree, I’m over 250 fractals, on scale 28, and I’d say 80-90% of pugs are reasonable people w/o horrible attitudes.
A traited thief can get 20% reduction in CD on signets and 5 stacks of might when he pops them as well. The classes have different skills and traits to alter the implementation of the skill. You can’t look at the skill by itself.
The reason why is if you don’t sell it and want to relist it or keep it. You don’t get taxed the whole 15% twice.
You have a listing fee of a certain % then a tax if sold. One is 10% and the other is 5% I believe. It could be the other way around, though.
I’m still running a similar build. Just going Power, Tough, Vit on my gear. The might boons on crit coupled with last finishers from hammer #2 puts out enough boons still to heal. It’s not as stupid easy as it was but still effective in dungeons (CoE, Arah is what I ran since the patch)
0/10/30/30/0 are my traits. I swap between GS, Hammer, Staff, Sword+focus, and scepter+focus in that order. Mainly depends on dungeon and boss.
Respawn.6802:
“This is only the action of one player but my time in EVE Online has shown that the customer can choose their gameplay style against the indifference of developers and force change.”
So you were one of those miners I’d gank with covops/blops?
You guys should be happy with this. The Vigorous Precision nerf means that now GS loses the defense advantage it had over hammer and mace, so now there’s actually a valid reason to use those weapons.
I may have to start using hammer in some of the harder dungeons now that attack speed means less than independent boon procs.
Yea, and as I said before, if you’re stil spec’d for AH, the #2 Hammer skill can give out a decent amount of aoe boons in a combo field, keeping up the heals a bit, especially fire combo.
I am sorry this Honor trait change nerfed many of your builds (honestly, I don’t feel it was OP, because the heals and “perma dodge” are not that unstoppable, just useful.) However, on the positive side, it will push many number crunchers to try things they didn’t try before. I used to use Blind Exposure a lot with Sword AND Mace (using 15 Radiance when not using signets) because even that one stack of invulnerability added up. This change made my current 25/15/0/30/0 Symbol build with Mace/Focus paired with Staff even more powerful all around, either solo or in a group. Still, I understand the disappointment, and although I didn’t use AH all the time, it does make it less attractive save for bigger fights-I still think it’s useful with staff (Empower), and if you continually give boons to people and yourself. AH Hammer build will still work with the Protection boon given by the Hammer, it’s just that solo self-healing in this manner did take a noticeable hit.
I don’t think builds were ruined, just more challening to play in certain conditions, so no need to throw away your gear/weapons due to this change-especially since the game is always evolving.
I agree, you just need to tweak your build a little and try new things. I’m sticking with AH, but will mess with sword and focus a bit.
Niiice, making a second infused when I get home. Thanks for the info.
Also, if you have an Ele in the group laying down fire fields (or elemental powder) the hammer blast skill will still heal you a bunch with AH as well. 5 stacks per ally is a lot of healing every few seconds. Blasting in some other fields will heal you too (like your #1 chain) but not as much. You have to think outside the box and not just read the patch notes and /delete Guardian.
Regarding the AH build:
1) Heals from boon giving like empower, shouts, and other skills will still be the same.
2) Heals from crits will be reduced, but ‘only’ by about 40% considering you can still put out might stacks on crit every second. So instead of 10boons in 5s, it’s now 6 boons per 5s.
I don’t feel like its a build-breaker, but some dps might need to be sacrificed for tank if your skills are lacking.
I know for a fact you can solo map completion in Orr zones with guards, engi, mes and thief, cause I’ve done it. Some SPs take a bit of class mechanic manipulation to get them, but doable. Engi was the hardest, especially gettin the temp of balth. (I got temp of balth on all chars while contested).
You dodge when he raises hammer or get more agony resist. On scale 20-29, my 20 res is enough to not be phased by it much.
1: it might take that long your first few runs, but it gets quicker the more you do it. If you’re lucky you can do a scale in an hour or less.
2: it doesn’t take much more time up to the 3rd tier so far (20-29 scales) I can’t speak for later tiers.
3: it actually makes sense that you need to play more and work for better things rather than it being handed to you. Although, it’s debatable that the RNG system for rings is okay. But that doesn’t seem to be your issue.
