@Lance Coolee.
Sorry I meant to put I agree I was backing you. this game really lacks any good fun mechanics. It needed Boss rooms with locking door. LARGE boss rooms with environmental as well as a good large boss with good mechanics to work around.

I don’t agree. It’s not the difficulty in the sense of how hard the mob hits, or how much hp it has for example. What PVE needs is strategy, a reason for players to band together and communicate a strategy to take down a mob or DE, not just simply zerg it. The concept of DE’s is awesome, but they quickly become super boring and unfulfilling if players just zerg them. Same thing can be said for dungeons.

Thats exactly what I mean, I don’t want stupid hard or stupid long I want a fun challege that is engaging to over come. I want locked door large boss rooms with environmental mechanics as well as good solid boss mechanics

@Agemnon
I should not have to run around naked to be challenged in a MMO. I’d rather need every stat I have gained, and be punished for having magic find equipped. But as it stands you can run like 100% magic find and be good to go in all instances. I just want some challenge and not face roll everything and have something I can be happy about beating not just o look me and everyone else beat this.

This game will have a mass exodus when everyone beats the easy content and is bored. I wish they would ramp up the rewards and the difficultly because right noe explorable is easy to farm.

Make PVE More Challenging

in Suggestions

wookie slayer.4259

I’ve read many discussion threads on how the PVE is no fun, not holding peoples interest. Many of the people saying that it is because it lacks challenge and isnt engaging, or that all the fights seem similar. Many feel it is too easy to beat and beating it feels not rewarding because how could you lose.

Do most people agree with this or reject it in that most of the content (mainly talking dungeon bosses and large world event bosses) is challenging enough to make it fun to beat.

Well, the end game zones are absolutely terrible. I find them to be zero fun. I hate even logging in to do ANY events in them. While I don’t want the game to be a cake-walk, the 3 end zones are way over tuned.

What part of any of the zones is over-tuned? I solo’d all the 50 plus zones with my guard to completion and rarely died and if you die you spawn again how is that hard? Just get a speed buff run to where you want, use all your skills to down the mobs and repeat?

CHALLEGEING ENCOUNTERS!!!! The pve is only un-fun because its so easy its stupid. My favorite game ever is dark souls it doesn’t have a huge amount of content but it feels like it does because every second of the game is a challenge.

Problems:(besides bugs)
1. Dungeons/learge events are easy
-They are just plain easy and all fight fell the same
2. Dungeons/large events feel unrewarding
-You get CRAP items in most chests and the tokens are boring and give you the same armor every one has.
3. Everything in game is too easy from crafting to events
-Everyone being able to farm the same node seems great in theory but takes away the fun of finding a rare not(not to mention the worth of it). Zerg events are so boring and easy!

By making the game so EASY you have taken out the FUN of game. Video games at a basic level are 1. present challenge 2. go have fun beating the challenge, 3.once you beat it feel good that you did so. And repeat. GW2 has made beating the challenge so trivial that step two is no longer fun and step three is no longer exhistant because it was so easy

Theory crafting means there are mechanics you need to think about and do something to best those mechanics. Thats not needed in GW2 because there litterally are no mechanics other than I’m a boss i have lots of Hp hit hard and may do aoe or summon adds

I agree with Rith, the combat is spam one and keep other 4 wep skills on cool down most of the time. @Ryth
WoW pve was much more challenging and engaging that GW2. In WoW you had to adapt to the situation (excluding easy tank spanks). In GW2 every fight seems like the same thing (except a very few bosses) 1. Do dmg, usally ranged, until in danger 2. dodge, lose aggro, heal 3. go back to step 1

Does GW2 have the content to keep a large player base?

Right now lots of people are still happy with the game but the ones who “rushed” through it feel like there is nothing to do. I’m worried for the games numbers when the majority hit that “what now stage?”

I agree with this guy on almost all of it, and I would prefer a gear treadmill compared to what we have now which is nothing LOL. Even with a treadmill you still have stuff to work for and feel like you progress each time you play. Right now 80 feel so stagnate there is nothing in terms of endgame progression

I’ve read many many threads on how to improve pve and the consensus seems to be “put in more challenging and engaging encounters” that are not facerolled by 90% of the player base.

Do people agree with this or do people find Pve particularly the large bosses and dungeon bosses/mob packs challenging ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

wookie slayer.4259

Need more challenge? Try soloing 3-4 levels above your own. If you simply must have a group, then go for 5-6 levels above the group avg.

Playing at level in any game is guaranteed to be easy since most games are designed to be accessible to all levels of competence at that point.

You shouldn’t have to be stupid and handicap yourself by going to levels your not designed to be in. And really the world pve is whatever, it shouldn’t be super hard. Some encounters should be and vets do this ok. Really the dungeons are where the challenge should come from and right now they are meh. Most are pretty easy and boring IMO. A few are over tuned which give them a false sense of hardness or stupid hardness.

WHAT!!?? WoW had some pretty decent challenges not many people could get through all the raids. GW2 there is nothing in the game that can’t be beat with ease and a half competent pug. Half is even more than needed. I’d like you to tell us one area in which a decent challenge can be had other than pvp.

They are a crafted item. Wep smiths get the formula from a npc that comes after the claw of jormag is defeated in frostgorge. You need a exotic 2 handed sword and a buch of other stuff roughly 10gold or more to make it

Im in a great guild, they are helpful if you need questions answered and plenty of chat, but there is no need for guild members to assist you or do any kind of large scale challenge in pve. I mean you can ask if anyone wants to go do a dungeons but pugs work too. REally there is nothing that you need a guild or in this game(only talking PvP)

“This is one of the few times in an MMO I’ve actually felt “done.””

Do you mean that literally, as in “finished the game”?
To put it differently: do you play the game to get the gear, or do you get the gear to play the game?

It is both actually. You go out do something and are reawrded with gear that gear then makes it easier to do the next something and which you are rewarded with gear. Gear is a tool and a token of prestige for besting a challenge

You could have so much fun with one of these tho. Like to use the bank you have to way point there, a armor repair for like 90% normal fee once guild earns it. Trophies of fallen monsters that the guild has killed….IT COULD BE SO COOL

Guild headquarters instance

wookie slayer.4259

I think this would be awesome. You could do tons of stuff here. Start out with a smallish house type deal and with rank ups go all the way to small castle. You could earn neat things to have here like the guild armor smiths, weapons smiths, guild banks areas that you had to waypoint there for. Free waypoint please. You could have cool little things like a 90% fee armor repair when you earned it, or a armor repiar that would give each member so much coin per day from the higer level guys donations to help out the newer characters.
If raids or large guild monster killing achieves where put in you could have trophics of fallen monsters hung on walls or little monuments around the place. That would be soo cool, a place for your guild to hang out in and enjoy thier achievements and the small perks they have earned.

This would help with the lack of guild unity in this game, due to lack of raid/content that needs large groups. As well as give people another level or progression to keep people busy and happy to play toward something.

Has there been an MMO published in the post-WoW era that did not generate complaints of “not enough to do?” I get by with comparing GW2 to a SP RPG because it only cost me the box price. Such games usually last 40-50 hours. So far in GW2 I have played 400 hours. I’m not even close to done on my main. Even those who accomplished all their “goals” are complaining that they only got 100 hours of enjoyment out of the game.

What have you been doing for 400 hours on a main? PvP? Im like 175 hours have every skin I want(all exotic) leveled my crafting (which was silly), done about 70ish % map. And now pretty bored with my guardian.

You and every other pve player that likes challenging content, because there just is not any challenging content that is fun to over come. Once you hit 80 and get the skins you want in less than a week, your pretty much done with the pve side of things. My solution buy war of the roses looks fun. Or roll and alt (i personally hate levleing alts)

Are you having fun in dungeons?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: wookie slayer.4259

No I find them very boring, and lack luster. I grinded all the skins I wanted had very little fun doing so and will not be going in one until revamped or new content with some fun, challenging content is put forth

What is hurting GW2 for me (and maybe you!)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: wookie slayer.4259

wookie slayer.4259

I totally agree almost 100% with the op. The game lacks community, fun, epicness really. It all stems from a lack content that is difficult. Difficult content takes guilds to do(builds guild community), is fun and not a snooze-fest because its so easy, and is awesomeness because how good you feel when you beat something that took effort and isnt something every other person in the game can walk in and defeat. This game excels in a great leveling process but thats where it ends. The dungeons are terrible, the crafting is useless (in a game where items dont matter much/ and there arnt many flavor items), no raids or any real max level content to keep players there after leveled.

Should this game have raids?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: wookie slayer.4259

wookie slayer.4259

I think raids should have to be modified to 8-12 people tops for starters> But aggro mechanics could be put in like a dmg=aggro meter on boss or boss randomly lock on for random amount of time.
