Ideal for Silverwastes. That place is unbearable without speed skills. I doubt the game has the scale though. It wouldn’t ‘fit in’, like that other MMO which it does like a glove.
First time I’ve seen it in game, now I know what all the fuss was about.
WoW!
GW1 also had ferry, “LF Ferry”
It did!. I remember that in the early days of Elona.
The real issue was not with toxicity, but with people getting rewarded for doing nothing.
Now that the fix is in, doing nothing gets you nothing, so the do-nothings have left the area.
You may still have some do-littles, but at least they are kind of helping.
Not quite right. I remember many many times fighting off mordrem who descend on you like a swarm of locusts, to get a chest, esp’ in a full map. Reviving was a regular occurrence as well with L84 mobs.
This, imo anyway, is much more accurate.
Yes, but “a few days” are a week now….
You could stretch to a week. Past this and they may have changed their minds about the whole thing.
Maybe they’ve nerfed it and prizes are now…..
Red doesn’t have many around it that I’ve found. A handful at best. The best option may be to simply rotate around the map. Perhaps someone would be nice enough to grab an image of the map and start laying out roughly where chests spawn, since they seem relatively static. At which point we could determine the best route to farm.
Or, you know, you could actually try playing this (quite profitable) map properly and contributing to its success rather than attempting to ruin it again.
Some of us were playing the map. I was on several where they defended all 4 forts, got defense up to level 4, and still farmed the kitten chests. But that obviously wasn’t “ok” with people.
According to this red and blue both have 6 chests in their immediate vicinity plus 2 extra in reasonable walking distance. A guess that means amber will maintain 6 chests plus the 2 up north near the entrance to the closed off section.
So these have to be dug up by players? As I haven’t seen any that just spawn random, like cactus etc. or is the former ‘extra’, I don’t know.
My only gripe is that it deflects my attention from doing anything else (!).
This is easily the best way to make currency since the release of the game. The Cursed Shore heyday, or anything else, doesn’t come close.
Makes me think, for how long it lasts, why the change in a game which has been so ‘protective’ of it’s loot system.
The shovels don’t run out, you get them for doing the defense events…
I barely get these so I wonder how this thing goes on, I know I do enough for the events as I always a 2 item reward, very rare I get these shovel things, 1 or 2 sometimes and they stop dropping. Unless you need silver reward rank, I don’t know.
The loot is now in Skritt hands.
Don’t bother trying 50/50 then (!)
You just have too stick with it. GW1 doesn’t give some of it titles away easily.
I really wish the library were it’s own instance instead of having to replay the story. I want to be able to just go in and browse, instead of having to listen to all that chatter again, and again, and again…
I’ve always liked that Cantha music. I think it’s Eternal Grove (?) I’m not sure.
‘hand over eyes’, these looks very ‘fertile’ farming pastures.
Unless I misread. Some guy said he got 13+ THOUSAND of these things from 1.2million bags. When I saw that I sure wasn’t paying 500 gems for a mere…25!!
(I could be wrong however).
For aesthetics yes. What isn’t so clever is when getting rewards, for personal story, which are , ‘not usable by your profession’. I thought ‘well, THAT isn’t much use is it??’ For new players anyway, which I’m glad I’m not.
Give it to new players, who have just started.
I have 5m of the stuff. I’ve only used some to trade for salvage kits. I’ll wait for something better. It’s not going anywhere. I’ve had most of that purple stuff since release and since that big nerf, I’m not frittering it away so easily.
This whole thing comes back down to 1 thing, LOOT, if it didn’t suck so badly, people wouldn’t fail events/ farm/camp the same champs over and over and over and over and over and over, Anet don’t care though, but watch how fast they bring the nerf hammer into Orr when they see it.
What else COULD they nerf in that place.
I thought I had this once, until I realised that your most recent buy/sell can’t be collected until you ‘clear out’ trades before it. This is relevant if your placing b/o’s for blues and greens in the 100’s for MF.
If someone sells your say 1000 items and then you sell a Legendary, the former has to be collected first ‘then’ the gold for the legen’ will show up, like it’s in a queue.
It creates the illusion that you legendary has disappeared, but, of course, it hasn’t.
Did you expect to walk into you local game store and ask ’ Can I have GW2 for free please.’
Sorry but, what planet are YOU on.
You pay for the license and the installation discs etc.
(edited by yorick.1305)
Many of us wouldn’t play WoW for free. I might not even play WoW if they paid me.
Agree.
Although how many will still be playing GW2, who are playing NOW, will still be logging in after nearly 10 years.
You have to visit that other MMO for that. Which is perfect for this kind of thing. GW2 appeals to a specific type of cosmetic-only player.
So why are the dyes going up in price, I have 80 unidentified dyed so I should hold into them.?
Too late now, you missed the bubble.
I missed a bigger one sitting on 374 laurels, i’ll keep ’em.
If the April patch is……. underwhelming, time to move on, free to play isn’t enough and I really thought it would be, my 2 bucks worth.
My lvl80 warrior got very easily picked off by two lvl 30 vets and the rest when trying to do swashbuckler’s cove JP. I had no chance, albeit in masterwork gear.
I have endlessly been trying to kill the knights and have not been receiving any loot since the new update. I know it states that you get loot after the event, however even if we fail most people still get loot. I have done these same events with party members they get loot I don’t! Really wasting my time in LA at the moment and seeing as core parts are dropped by the knights for the back item I am getting peeved by this
Done a few today, no problem with rewards, always get the boxes and occasional core here and there. It’s given at the end, when all three have been defeated.
Yeah, I have experienced that, mainly with ambient crabs. Shooting with different skills wouldn’t work except the 3rd skill from greatsword and Chaos Storm (5th) from staff.
P.S.: Btw, it seems your 2nd pic doesn’t have anything to do with the issue, I only see you defeated :P
He wasn’t lying on the rocks to the left. Stuck on a cliff edge by the ankles.
BM Condi Regen Ranger.
Or
PU Mesmer before they nerf it and enjoy it as the whole world hates you.
Roam your heart out then.
You’re Welcome.
What are Mesmer’s supposed to do? I used a lvl 20 booster, as it’s the only class I haven’t tried.
It feels as delicate as toilet paper, whereas my guardian, by comparison is like stepping into a Tiger Tank.
I’ll see how it goes.
They can’t, they made such a big deal about their “active combat” during their pre-launch marketing…
The funny thing is, you would never hear me complain about Demons Souls or Dark Souls: Two games that are said to be impossibly hard, and have plenty one-hit kills (but well telegraphed). But it is GW2 of all things, whose one-hit kills are just unfair, and come out of nowhere every single time. That is a bad sign Anet, when you out-one-hit-kill Demons Souls.
Poor design, plain and simple. I wonder if this kind of thing exists in that other MMO.
1. No waypoint fees.
2. Option to engage foes, or not to, in PvE.
3. Flying Mounts.
4 Karka hit by a meteor and now extinct.
5. Orr get’s a clean-up.
Every class is, or can be, a ‘jack of all trades…’ Hence the zerg, through lack of definition, which it does exist, but much less so than a ‘trinity’ based game.
To folks who are frustrated with the OP: Remember that ANet promised us a continuation of GW1. What infos we got over the years (we waited YEARS with very few updates and content) was that it was going to be like GW1 but with the stuff that they couldn’t implement, like jumping, possible mounts (from the concept art coming out), more detailed models, etc.
We liked the game that they stopped making. We didn’t quit it to jump to another game, we moved because they said, basically, ‘the game engine isn’t what we need it to be, so we’re focusing development on the next iteration of this game, please come with us’. Most of us took it at face value.
I LIKE guild wars 2. But I do miss the many creative armors in GW1, I miss heroes and henchmen, I definitely miss Guild Halls (my guild has to go to other servers to have guild meetings just to not get griefed), I miss all my minipets from 1 that never got ported over.
People say, ‘well, go back to GW1!’ That’s not feasible when they stopped updating it. So I wish that they could stop avoiding some of the things that made GW1 good, like guild halls, like the armor styles, like the various cultures, like the guild halls, like those minis, skill capturing, etc. I don’t see why folks would NOT want any of these things.
So, I like Guild Wars 2, it does a lot of things well and it is my main MMO now. But GW1 was the MMO I planned to stick with for longer and that got yanked out from under a lot of players, and the many features which would go a long way toward easing things -aren’t here-. That’s going to bother some people. Dissing us for the quandary we’re finding ourselves in is crappy.
Regarding nostalgia glasses re: grinding: I never had a problem with grinding. Maxing titles and acquiring some armors and weapons required a lot of it, and I was ok with that.
I’m not sure that first point is correct. I remember way back when it was first announced (2007?).
Two things, free to play and a ‘completely different game from/than GW1’.
I’m nigh certain that last one was from an official statement or interview from somewhere, in the early pre-release days.
Legendary Defender Of Ascalon. I think some people are still trying to get that one done. I got 31 or 32 completed, but never got close to this classic (grinder).
With an old MS mouse that most would put in the bin. But I keep it, as it’s shape is neutral. So as a left-hander it’s ok until I get a more specific L/H model.
More chance of NASA landing a spacecraft on Pluto.
Less than 100 gold

Above is the guide people typically use. But you can actually do it for much cheaper. For example 450-475, you can craft ascended material. You can also discover some low level gear to gain extra exp.
And there are some gear you can craft which can be resell for higher cost to recover the cost. You really have to do some research yourself. For example look at the TP to see what armor is selling at a good price. For example usually you can recover much of the cost by crafting soldier gear because it is in high demand.
Is there a main page for this for the other crafts, does the advice/tip you give here apply to all 8 of them. Thanks.
Last time I did these hardly anyone was there. Most are doing LS events.
I’m a bit worried what this might lead to. What next, exotics, precursor’s?
Lol… I think that’s a pretty large step there.
I think they’re doing these things to draw attention to gem store items. Not TP items. A lot of people didn’t know about the boosters or the minis (they’re kind of hidden) so I think that’s all this is
I wasn’t being serious!.
A slightly humorous, sarcastic nod to recent Watchwork fuss. Tongue-in-cheek as they say.
I’m a bit worried what this might lead to. What next, exotics, precursor’s?
Maybe you should use a different word than ‘farming’ It’s not really a ‘farming’ game like the original was. Hence there are no ‘farming builds’ section on these forums, unlike gw1guru which had a plethora of them.
I’ve had many PvP weapons from AP chests that a certain class can’t use and yet it’s soulbound…it can never be used so delete is all you can do. Pointless.
In support of AP’s it shows you every single aspect of the game. I’ve only just started doing this and it can get quite addictive in a strange way. Everyone’s different, but more dailies I wouldn’t mind at all.
Similar theme to Shing Jea Monastery.
I thought guild wars 2 wasn’t into vertical progression, and here they are making even items that cost gems feel like they are obsolete because a better item is now available.
This is what all the fuss is about. A simple sentence, which explains what the Gem Store was ‘not’ to be.
How many times this was stated pre-release I’ve lost count.
IMO, it’s definitely p2w. It would be fine if it’s only skin and effect but actually gaining more stuff is really bad design no matter the value of the item gained. Bad precedent.
What do you actually ‘win’.
This pick gives a ‘permanent advantage’ which is not the same thing as ‘winning’ something in-game.
P2Win means the ability to get more with gem store item that normal person can get by playing.
That wasn’t the case with unlimited tools since you would pay way more for just the fact that you don’t have to replace them, but getting extra things just because you bought it in gem store is seriously P2W as standards say and I fear we will see more of it.
First. I agree with the anti-pick sentiment on here np there.
Your description is p2 ‘get better items than somebody else’. Not the same as entering an arena/pvp tourney and ‘paying’ to win it, to finish 1st.
This is what I meant, just a different context.
I think its pretty much obvious Anet being silent on this for the past 3 days shows they really don’t care about us or the community. Take from that what you will but I will personally take it as a massive slap in the face and a sign of things to come.
Well they never really did.
$ talks.
Not as loud as the player’s, without which, the game is nothing.
