Why are you trying to make it sound so impossible? Even with PuGs I have cleared path 2 3 times since then with various different teams from “I only have a Gsword mesmer” to the best 5 Signet warrior ingame, I simply telling them beat on the Deadeyes while I do some CC of my own at the melee mobs. Ring of Warding still doesn’t stop you from dodging and the Berserker’s autoattacks for the first 10 seconds should be bearable enough since they haven’t built up much might/fury. I just don’t see how it’s so ‘hard’? I guess I should just give up trying to enlighten baddies?

The trash mobs mechanics weren’t the problem with them, it was the amount of groups you had to wade through after learning them the first time.

Edit: Oh and Risen Illusionists are really the ones you should be complaining about with their insta-cast guaranteed 7k damage from one tick of Chaos Storm that is impossible to avoid. Leave the Deadeyes alone.

Theres tons of broken things/bad design in dungeons but Deadeyes aren’t one of them. Their 1 shot takes as long to charge as a warrior’s Kill Shot at 1.75 seconds, it marks the target with a red circle underneath them AND the notification icon on your boons/condition UI, “Dead Eye’s Stare” which gives you plenty of time to react.

If anything, the introduction of Deadeyes RIGHT AFTER introducing you to the Berserkers and Defilers is an ingenius design in getting players to use their heads and weigh their options.

I have only died to Deadeyes once when first fighting them during the first week of release. The working strategy since was to stack on them and focus them down asap so you could kite the others. Another trick to them is to line of sight them from behind rocks as any MMO should’ve taught you so they come to you/duck behind rocks so they can’t shoot you. Their extremely low health pool compared to the other Risen on path 2 makes this the most viable in approaching Deadeyes. We are geared in GREENS back then and could the trash mobs down fine.

The synergy skillsets used by the Risen mobs in Arah in general and their cooperation each other from Ring of Warding entrapment and getting stuck with Berserkers/prevent you from reaching their Deadeye buddies to Elementalists/Hunters comboing Vapor Blade/Ricochet off Geysers/Chao Storms puts PuGs and baddies to shame.

Edit: The spider bite aoe on premature golem scene activation is a bug known by Anet, as I’ve said, lots of things are broken, Deadeyes simply aren’t one of the broken things.

I can count on 1 hand the number of instances where your party gets a preview of how a specific mob’s mechanics are supposed to work (including the little hidden parts of it that aren’t so evident, or are just plain buggy … like scavenger lunges for example) …and then the fight itself get tougher after that. GW1 did a pretty good job at this. Most of GW2 dungeons however are trial and error (read: CorpseRolling from WP) for MOST people followed by Youtubing & guide reading for anyone else who isn’t a masochist. Sorry but that is not good inviting gameplay design

Yeah it sucks for baddies who can’t telegraph things and figure things out quickly. For decent players with any sense of field awareness and keen eye sight for spotting things through particles (it’s not that hard though really, only baddies would complain ala charr/norn hate in the MK JP). The people who wrote those guides aren’t gods. They are just decent players that have a brain.

As I’ve stated various times, the step up from normal pve to dungeon is too much of a step up but along the way of dumbing down pve after BWE1 Anet just didn’t have a way to teach the rest of the supposed 95% of the population who can’t even be bothered to look at guides on how to play the game.

Sad thing is, these days there’s nothing new to see in dungeons so all that’s left is farming and people like myself are now past the point of figuring out mob mechanics and are more concerned about breaking dungeons to obtain more efficiency and are less patient with PuGs and that just creates a bigger barrier for newcomers in a way. But really, L2P.

Apart from pricing disparity, I would also recommend Heal/Power/Tough over Vit/Heal/Condi jewels on the basis that 240 power converts to roughly 120 more damage EVERY HIT while 240 condi damage converts only to 60 extra damage per second on your burning which is only applied so infrequently through Virtue of Justice and other means. Retaliation damage returns are also scaled based on power. Sorry to say but your 50g getting those jewels kinda made you weaker than cheaper options :<

like the paralizing spiders on TA, why all the spiders can paralize, i run a shout guardian with rune of soldier, and my team can resist no more then 4 or 5 sec.. poison is ok, but hard controls must be placed ONLY on few rare and hard mobs.

Only the Stonetouch cause the ‘petrification’ effect.

So here where is the strategy? where is the teamwork?

At that point, Bandit Thugs start to appear in the trash groups and they can grant aoe stability to the other mobs. Not sure why stability isn’t working maybe you’re mistaking Stand Your Ground ad being an AoE stun break and using it too late? Bear in mind Bombers actually throw their bombs and counts as a projectile that can be reflected. Saboteurs place bombs at your feet and you can move away from them. (could be other way around.)

1. Hammer Swing 1/2 cast -> Pommel Bash 1/4 cast -> Yeti Smash, causes vulnerability, gives fury to pet. 3/4 cast time.

2. Path of Bruises: Bounce your hammer between multiple foes. Finisher: Projectile, Maximum targets: 3. Causes 2 stacks of vulnerability (5s). 1/2 cast time. 8s recharge. (path of scar style naming+richocet mechanic, what can go wrong?)

3. Trampling Ox: Charge at a target’s location, damaging and crippling foes along your path. 1/4 cast time. 12s recharge. Whirlwind Attack style targetting. (inversed version Gw1 of Trampling Ox)

4. Dirt Smash: Strike the ground, damaging and blinding nearby foes. 1/4 cast time. 20s recharge. (à la Belly Smash)

5. Bestial Mauling: immobilize target foe with a strike to the shin (2s), the next attack by your pet causes daze (2s)/ 3/4 cast time. 30s recharge (à la classic Hammer Bash+Bestial Mauling)

It guarantees hits every time as well as hits the gravelings spawned from them simultaneously.

Arah path 4

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: zencow.3651

zencow.3651

Sorry for your loss. I just did this path again to help some friends out and roughly finished around the same time as you did but finished shortly before the maintenance. (It took us 3 hours even with skipping 90% of the trash mobs since we lacked DPS for simins.) In my limited experience having ran this path only twice, I have not encountered this bug personally.

Perhaps you could remember some of these details:

1) Did you miss any bosses somehow? The bosses are the high priests/priestesses of balthazar, melandru, lyssa, lupicus, priests/priestesses grenth and dwayna.

2) Was the NPC dead as you approached the area? It could be an NPC death related issue. At Lupicus on Path 4, if Randall is dead has been known to cause a bug in triggering the cutscene. Similarly, NPC death on Arah path 1 at final boss as she attempts to open the door has been known to cause blocking issues.

3) Were there 4 risen spawned around the area? Possibly one failed to spawn/game didn’t count right.

4) Did you have to replace anyone in the party? Supposedly this issue has been fixed awhile ago but it might’ve possibly came back.

5) Were you still in there during the server maintenance time? Perhaps it could’ve been caused by server instability.

Anet aren’t very good at reproducing bugs in my experience since GW1 and much more terrible at it when not given exact steps to replicate them so it would help immensely if you can be as detailed as much as possible.

The RNG to getting the precursor seems really silly. I didn’t even believe it the first time I heard it. The only thing legendary about it is legendary luck.

Actually when I see a legendary weapon bearer, I think “gee this player has really mastered the Trading Post/Curshed Shore farming!”. I don’t see them as skillful players per se as they are ‘meant’ to be.

I’d rather see a wide variety of x100 difficult activities ala Mad King’s Tower that tests your skills at different levels rather than playing the market/farming mindlessly.

I would of preferred it 5% of players receiving the legendaries should be allocated by difficult content that only 5% of players can achieve.

It’s nothing like the prestige of GWAMM was in GW1. GWAMM only took around ~550 hours to obtain but the grind was varied enough that it was fun and people respected it for it took skills to successfully vanquish/complete dungeons i.e. hard content back in those days.

Imo, it’s one been a terrible decision by Anet to based their whole economy in Gw2 around the mystic toilet. Barring precursors however, the rest of the game is wonderful.

If you hate legendaries that much there’s bound to be someone who is making/will make aTexmod that replaces legendaries skins with default weapon skins or something eventually. My Idea Of The Ideal Dungeon Build Composition

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: zencow.3651

What I don’t get is how non-heavy classes deal so much damage while other classes deal less and are squishier. Eles can master attune swap all they want/Mesmers can shatter perfectly all they want, in the end they put out significantly less damage and the supposed extra support/control they are given are non-existant. It’s just so unbalanced!

Warrior and guardian are also much simpler to play. Overall a hammer guardian spamming one does more damage and support (protection AND if traited might & healing) than an ele could (Fire for Dmg OR attune swap for lackluster support/control.)

Obviously they only balance Gw2 around tPvP though so roll a warrior/guardian for a superior PvE experience (albeit more boring) today.

zencow.3651

I dunno when I did it she wasn’t taking damage in stealth even with poison/mega glass cannon DPS, while running sparks legitly within 10 seconds broke her out of stealth but she re-stealthed at 50% instead of on timer.

Only when we kept 1 spark up out and imprisoning only 4 after the her first stealth and waiting for her to reappear at the usual 80% then did the encounter seem to work properly. Oddly though with the 1 spark up we got her down to 20% before she stealthed a second time at which point we trapped the last spark and finished her once and for all.

Screamed buggy to me!

Edit: Path 1’s NPC only attempts to open the door once after the Stargazer is down so if the firewall’s still up she will die from running into it and will not attempt to open it again, leaving you with a broken door. Best way to circumvent this is to keep the person with the NPC far away back and just have someone solo the last boss so she doesn’t die. If the npc is bugged out the only option left is to brute force through the door using teleports targeted to the left side of the door to get in a stuck position then from there aim your teleports on the ground on the other side to hopefully get into the room.

At the end of the Path 2’s puzzle, a mini-‘cutscene’ occurs in which a golem appears to distract the spiders. It consists of a bunch of spiders attacking an invulnerable golem suit. However, occasionally this magic golem will appear BEFORE you reach the end of the puzzle, causing the spiders to be in your path and due to their mass AoE melee spamming on the invulnerable golem it’s impossible to get past them to unlock the waypoint beyond without an invulnerability skill. You will also die when teleporting to said waypoint if not previously dead due to the proximity of that clustercharr to the waypoint.

Path 3’s second bosses’ mark skills don’t seem to ever trigger but that’s fortunately to our advantage.

Meh,the larger proportion of rage is at Simins later on in that path. I’d prefer they fix the spark imprisoning/persistent health reset at 50% rather than on timer bugs (after first stealth she’s meant to stealth again after 40 seconds but instead she stealths immediately again at 50%) first.

It’s just so silly that we have to go out of our way to break their game and how buggy arah is (leashing NPC in path 1 so it doesn’t die and bug out on reward door, having to use invulnerability to get past spider glitch past path 2’s puzzle, saving sparks for after simins reappears from first stealth on path 4), and do stupid things to make Arah work and has the terrible unfinished game feel. #Gw2wasn’tready

Dungeon Reform

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: zencow.3651

zencow.3651

Actually I think that was what a lot of people expected when they heard “explorable mode”. Imagine wandering around in Arah or AC, without any restrictions. There would be puzzles like;

While exploring you randomly stumble upon a boss. That boss, when killed, drops a charged core, you don’t know what to do with it first. But somewhere else in the dungeon there is a power cell in which you can place the core which would in turn open up a door to an entirely new area of the dungeon. The group would have to figure these kinds of stuff out for themselves. Of course, if you wanted to, you could go to the Acolyte of Melandru and chop down the trees that spawn during the encounter, which a huntsman could then use to build a small ladder that would let you climb that door instead. This would all be done in a non-linear way; the power cell and door might very well be placed somewhere at the start of dungeon, and of course this door wouldn’t be the only way to progress in the dungeons.

Instead of the crappy rewards that chests have now, each chest would provide unique rewards, so that there wouldn’t be “that one” path that is the most efficient way of farming.

Random DE’s could also occur throughout the dungeon, which would encourage you to explore every nook of it. For example the crashed aircraft in Jotun path. Why not make it a DE to defend the pilot while he / she repairs it? If you succeed, you are flown off to another part of the dungeon. If not, maybe the pilot managed to craft some sort of explosive out of the fuel which lets you blow up a wall that then takes you to another boss?

This is what I wanted from dungeons in GW2. The current linear design just gets extremely tedious after the Nth dungeon…

Fully agreed. When they first mentioned Explorable Mode I thought of it being grandiose Gw1 explorable instanes packed with fun and exploration, not linear paths that just encourages. Randomness of events would’ve been great here to keep things fresh. Too bad they placed RNG in unfun places instead (mystic toilet cough cough). We are so misled

Giganticus Lupicus resets

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: zencow.3651

zencow.3651

This has to be a considered a bug. The thief’s signature move is the stealth and therefore in no circumstances should lupicus reset due to a player being invisible. Not even if all the players are invisible (there should be a timer in this circumstance) !

This boss is already overpowered as is, especially for thiefs who have zero defense skills or traits. I have spent 6 hours today trying to kill this boss (with different groups) with no success. I even changed my entire gear (full exotic) to have the maximum vitality and toughness. Having more than 1 thief in your party makes this boss almost impossible to kill. At one point this becomes frustrating.

His resets are also like none i have ever seen before. He resets to full health instantly and not gradually like every other creature in the game. This should be fixed. Leaving his range should not trigger a reset either, however i agree that leaving the arena should cause the boss to run back and recover health gradually (not instantly) leading to a potential reset.

Try pumping 15 points into acrobatics for swiftness on dodge, endurance regain on dodge and Vigorous Recovery which grants 10+1 seconds of vigor and use Withdraw as your heal skill (15 second cooldown+Vigorous Recovery = lulz) for infinite dodge. Use superior runes of the adventurer for overkill.

I don’t like Swirling Winds cos it doesn’t return damage. Just get a mesmer with inspiration 20, Warden’s Feedback trait and have him chain projectile reflection: Warden, Temporal Curtain, Feedback, Warden the CM mobs to death.

Awesome in SE too since dredge love their guns and can’t be blind so it’s the best method to counter them.

Oh when they burrow into the ground? Yeah kinda forgot about those since they are so easy to just backpedal from. I think the stalker’s popping out of burrows does AoE launch, not the howler’s but not too sure. Can’t believe I don’t remember all of their skills after a gazillion runs

Then….dodge both? You are in possession of two consecutive dodges, correct?

And if you dodges something else before? And then dodged the first… Oh wait, you’re saying that to be condescending. Because I’m a “bad player”…

The three species of gravelings each only have one ‘special attack’ and otherwise just auto attacks.

The graveling species are:
Howler – Inconsequential buffs
Breeder – Channelled spew of hatchlings
Hatchling – Bleeding autoattacks, low HP, even if one manages to down you, you can probably hit the same one who downed you for a rally. Good practice for TA’s blossoms.
Scavenger – Leap of death, obvious 2 second charge up.
Graveling (adult) – Imitates scavenger’s leap but does not knockdown

Basically only the scavenger’s leap is worth dodging. Note that the scavengers have unique orange stripes, making their presence and intents easily visible from the other types. If you’re wasting endurance on other stuff you’re doing it wrong.

I don’t get why people keep bashing glass cannon when in reality it’s a pretty good trade-off: you basically do double damage but twice as fast ONLY IF YOU GET HIT. Your dodge bar doesn’t get any bigger with more survivability stats. Your defensive cooldowns like Endure Pain and Shield Stance don’t either. Toughness negates negilible damage while vitality just lets you survive an extra 1-2 hits. You have to realise with increased vitality, your heal doesn’t heal you back to full so overall you can survive 5 hits as glass cannon compared to 7-8 with soldier’s. PvE mobs are predictable and don’t really attack that often, that’s why confusion spec mesmers are so trash in PvE; it’s no where near as chaotic as sPvP or WvW where everyone and their pet charr spams damage all over the place.

Tbh, Plenty of people have dungeon masters running glass cannon without dying even half as much as the survivability preachers AND with faster clear times.

Due to the combination of Dev are pretty biased towards warriors, Gw2 being balanced around sPvP and warriors being relatively weak in sPvP it’s not like warriors are gonna get nerfed anytime soon for PvE’s sake. Just roll warrior and faceroll!

I figured out his mechanics before guides were out wand we beat him on the 5th try with full mf green gear (lol those were the days!). It’s much easier standing at max range since you’re guarantueed safety by just moving back but don’t try to enforce it too much since if he’s in the middle of the room, you risk having camera freak out as it gets near the walls and not be able to see anything.

The single target life siphon has super long range so just walking away from it is often not feasible, the aoe life siphon though is walkable for sure.

Full glass cannons with blind spam from thief/necro and projectile reflect from guardian/mesmer. Works perfectly everywhere except CoE’s clustercharr golems/1-shotted by Subject Alpha.

Maybe it’s just my timing but ‘Evade’ tends to pop up twice whenever I dodge away from the ‘bolt’ and once if I dodge into it. If I had zig-zagged beforehand and somehow confused the bolt, dodging shows no evade I probably didn’t have to dodge those ones. Being loved by Lupicus as semi squishy ele at +500 vit and +200 toughness he likes to camp bolts on me while camping the guardian with shadow walk so the others usually only have to dodge the circles/rez each other unless I go too far away from him/get downed and lose his bolt aggro. I’ve also noticed the person with shadow walk aggro will get shadow walked if they get downed until they die.

In phase 3 generally person with shadow walk aggro will get bubble/aoe fists aggro, again being bubbled even if they are down until they are dead while the person with bolt aggro gets single target siphon and more bolts coming their way.

I perfected it by the third run. Never take my armor off anymore. But running past the bombs in CoF path 3 is still a pain in the charr…

The experience was fun the first time, but who can honestly say after 10 runs they aren’t sick of Risen Illusionists? For people who have their Dungeon Masters and for efficient seeking players in general. Being able fit in 9 dungeon paths in three hours thus is MUCH more fun than taking three hours to do 1 long boring path.

Especially when the 1 hour easy mode dynamic event farming at 2g+ much more karma is more profitable than even the 1 hour speed clear of all three paths of AC that gives the most gain at 1.5g+ and only 5640 karma. Rewards of normal dungeon running is tiny in comparison and nil or negative if landing in a terrible PuG.

Didn’t speed clear in Gw1 cos RNG determined whether you got your Froggy/BDS/Emerald Edge and I hate RNG. Naturally I now subsequently hate the Mystic Toilet /insert I’ve played for >9000 hours and still no precursor whine.

Skip cap of anything non-warrior/guardian is just too high to entrust to bugs usually. Watching baddie shortbow rangers/greatsword mesmers/staff eles+necroes just sitting there on one weapon/fire attune and spamming mostly just auto-attack makes me want to cut myself.

You deal at least 50% more damage in a burst switching in for Split Blade/Call of the Hunt, Extra Clones+more shatters, Grasping Dead/Enfeebling blood etc etc. Since staff is so lackluster for damage and pugs can’t combo off them fields to get the 100% more effectiveness out of them that makes them worthwhile, I prefer scepter/dagger so I can blast x5 off my own fire field for 26 seconds of 15 stacks of AoE might for my melee and carry the team with knockdowns and mega damage.

Warriors and guardians in melee on the other hand just does so much damage spamming 1. As for thieves, I haven’t seen a PuG thief who just constantly dies.

tl;dr warriors + guardian = brainless faceroll succeeds, no need for strategy gogogo. Personally me and my guild brings all the utilities/cc/strategy and just bring a pug warrior to fill out damage. Pretty sure most other guild runs looking to fill a slot feels the same way.

It’s really boring and dull. Getting inside though made me cry tears of joy and scream like a charr after all the hardship of previous runs.

Stone Spirit sucks imo cos 1) it tends to die, 2) chances of getting random shotted AND random proctection gain at the right time = too much RNG. With wilderness 5? You already have protection from dodging in case you miss the dodge (lol).

Search and Rescue likes to bug out (pet derps and doesn’t rez anything). The pet’s like… 10 seconds later “Oh you want me to rez him!”, “Oh nvm I’m dead lol”.
