Vg doesnt have a big dps check and missing greens aint that much of a problem especially with ts. The problem (if there is one) is bad cc and poor seeker control. Mark my words it’s these reasons 80% of the time. The other is either bad healing as in healer focusing wrong people as well as the tank pulling either too slow or fast.

But usually its bad cc and poor seeker control.

Nightmare fractal feedback [merged]

I normally don`t post anything on the forums, but since the feedback to this fractal is so overwhelmingly positive, I just felt the need to say sth. about it, as I feel that maybe the majority of the gw2 players doesn`t feel the same about it as the people voicing their thoughts in this forum.

First of all: I like doing fractals, it maybe is the content I like most about GW2. I do t4 dailies pretty much every day, as they are doable within a reasonable timeframe and give decent rewards – unlike a lot of other content in the game.
I consider myself a pretty decent player and I like content that is challenging to some extent, I am not interested in steamrolling everything and being given rewards for free. But: Although I am in a guild, I often like to pug t4 fractals because after a long day at work with a lot of talking I don`t feel like using ts to coordinate with my mates. I guess that for a lot of other gw2 players this is pretty much the same. I am sure this fractal is easily doable within a coordinated guild group, but if the precondition of having a premade group is notfulfilled, you might have massive problems clearing t4 dailies now. With pug groups you are so dependent on luck with the mates you get, that this type of content is simply not reliably doable anymore. You might get lucky and just get it done quickly, but you also might get 5 groups in a row that play the downstate rota.
Generally, there is nothing wrong about content that requires premades, like raids, but why does that type of content have to be injected into “normal” fractals now? Make it live somewhere else, like raids do, make this type of fractals t5 fractals, whatever. But currently Anet is basically taking sth. that existed before (reliably doable t4 dailies) from a lot of players instead of just adding sth. on top for people who want more challenging content. To me, although I am not negatively impacted directly by this, this is not the right direction to take. The design of the fractal is raidlike, it is the next step in the evolution of new content catering mainly to the elitists within gw2 that want harder and harder content, gating desirable rewards behind requirements the majority of the playerbase can`t fulfill.

Now let the hate begin, hit me with all the good stuff, like “Your English is bad”, “Just do t3 dailies”, “You probably are way worse than you think you are”, “git gud”, “I easily pugged this like 100 times yesterday” and so on ..

It was the same with chaos and swamp…and still same thing can happen….suffice to say i usually play magi druid when pugging these fractals so chances of failure drop drastically. Same with new fractal, i either grab dedicated healer for pugs or run with guildies.

Still the fractal is a success as quality content even if it takes longer to complete. I imagine it will get a lot easier with time, people are still learning and adjusting.

I usually just ask for dps on lfg when creating a group and i let everything in..I’d rather have a dd or guard who knows the class rather than an inexperienced temp and vice-versa. But it changes from person to person. U can pretty much play both dd and druid with one set so i don’t really understand why you have to choose.

Living Story is by no means end game content. End game content has replayability as its principle..
Most players play living story 1-2 times to get the achievements and never do it again.

zoomborg.9462

Honestly if you played enough games you will realize that end game content=challenging/competitive content.

In every single game out there end game content comes either from competing against other players (pvp) or competing against timers (speedruns). And i mean every single game.

The end game content for GW2 was considered to be pvp/wvw since u can hop whenever you like and just keep playing. Now there is the addition of raids which a lot of people repeat 2-3 times a week for fun and experimenting. And as always there are guilds that still lowman/speedclear dungeons.

Edit: as mentioned above leaderboards would be an amazing addition. Speedclear/lowman fracs/dungeons/jp’s/raids…. anything that gives players motivation to improve and experiment.
For pvp anet needs to make some drastic changes to increase it’s playerbase, you cannot have healthy/competitive MM without a big playerbase otherwise it destroys queue times. And wvw needs some actualy rewards instead of these worthless reward tracks.

Whether i feel forced or not depends on what content i have to do, generally i enjoy the game on 95% of the content including pvp,wvw which makes me an exception.
U have to take into account that when new masteries appear u gain about 50% of the xp just by doing the new story. If monday comes and new masteries appear just play the map naturally and you will get it without it being a chore.

As for raids, i don’t think it’s an efficient source of xp.

From ANET’s perspective, why would they add Envoy armor elsewhere?

Envoy armor was one of the many incentives to have players play their new content. It wouldn’t surprise me if WvW eventually gets a specific reward that takes a large investment. And you know what? We’d probably see increased game time and player population in WvW. Rewards aren’t the only reason to play the content, but they are part of it.

Personally, I like exclusive rewards across the entire game. I want fractals to have its own set of armor, or open world to have more exclusive rewards…wait it does. It just isn’t as “valuable”

Can I just buy legendary weapons with LI instead of parking characters at material farms?

I agree and i’d definitely jump into things i don’t do much. I used to wvw a lot until raids came up, now i don’t have much incentive to do it since raids take all my interest. I unique wvw item would definately fire me up to jump back into wvw and spend most of my time there.

Unfortunately people in this game are not used to this kind of thing since b4 HoT almost everything in this game was readily available to anyone even if the cost was expensive.
The game atm is moving in a lot more driven direction as in “this is the reward, that’s how you get it”, which goes against casual mentalities since a lot of players hit a wall whenever time/effort/skill is required. I don’t believe either Anet or the complaining playerbase is in the wrong here, it’s just how things are with every single game out there. They change all the time and people come/leave depending on their own preferences.

In the end GW2 has still kept to its traditional principles since high end gear is super easy to aquire, and leveling is faster than any other mmo out there. Same goes with the mastery system, bloodstone fen/ember bay can get you the masteries super fast while providing nice loot.

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

I see them all over lfg nowadays but it doesn’t matter at all. Asking for DONATIONS so people can get the chests on a map that other people cleared is not insulting/scamming.
Same as for people who ask to pay 1-2g so some1 can open a specific raid instance.

It’s the same as asking on party lfg to pay someone for the kitten not so secret JP and diving spot or paying people for that 100 fractal timed mote as a lot of players might be crafting ad infinitum but dont have the ar required. Players giving service to other players and asking for donations/gold is actually positive.

If someone is asking for stupid amounts of gold for something on LFG, no1 is gonna pay anyway which eliminates any kind of abuse.

Then the “easy mode” would actually serve as a true training mode. The people who ask for easy mode + actual rewards are usually the lazy ones who just want freebie kills.

Considering you really have to try in order to fail at 95% of PvE people get really intimidated by the actual chance of failure, that there is a chance to fail some mechanic, that u have to do training, learn class properly, use voice communications if needed and on and on it goes.

If there is a limitation to raids, it’s always time and nothing else. Then again if you don’t have the time for it why do you even bother with raids in the first place….

There aren’t really any excuses if some1 wishes to raid. Tons of posts on the internet, amazingly detailed class and boss mechanics guides, a golem to practice and perfect your rotations and a variety of options for people to find or create groups.

Why are people so afraid of raiding?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

There are a lot of reasons people are afraid to raid, most noticable cause they don’t want fingers pointed at them. Considering most instances are easily carriable, whether someone fails the mechanics or not doesnt have as big of an impact while in raids it makes all the difference.
Generally it is impossible to fail 95% of this game so people get intimitated easily by even the concept of “failure”.
As for people that talk about elitism i can honestly say i only found 1-2 of those rude “elitists” over my half year of raiding so that’s not a problem.

Tbh every “competitive” game out there has the same “issues”. There is always a meta that is usually decided by the balance changes, the guilds at the top just figure it out with trial and error. It’s mostly like solving an equation.

Being free to play with whatever class u want and what build u want never yielded any results in competitive games. I wouldn’t really call gw2 competitive apart from pvp/raids but in both those modes meta is and always will be predominant.

The only way to be able to play whatever u want is for either Anet to make all classes super OP, to be able to do anything consistently….or dumb down the boss fights to the point where class/build doesnt matter anymore.

In the end raids are what they are and composition/class changes were always part of that in any game, not just GW2.

Help with meta raid build/setup now

in Mesmer

Posted by: zoomborg.9462

zoomborg.9462

Ok I think I got my mes geared now, exotic comm trinkets and full ascended for rest of them, my toughness is at 1560 or so with food, I’m just wondering abt the recent change to mes that cause you to slot diff skills like for the elite.

Basically my 1st question was in regards to traits. Was there a reason to use Domination instead of illusions or whatever? I haven’t looked at the traitlines that closely so I might be missing something obvious

I’m more concerned with rotations tho, if I go to a site like metabattle it still doesn’t seem to be updated to reflect the new changes since patch. I get that I should probably be swapping weps as often as possible, using all my wells off cd and keep shattering my illusions when I can. I’m having trouble with the specifics though, things like is it worth it to bother using continuum split or whatever without slotting time warp? If so how does this figure into the rotations, as well as basic questions like how can I cast 3 phantasms in one set (sword/x) so quickly before I swap to shield as I need to do for rotations?

Sorry for asking so many questions or if many of them seem obvious.. I haven’t played my mes in many months but I’m looking to try it out again

The main reason for domination is that it lowers both your SoI on utility slot but your passive SoI proc with Phantasmal Inspiration trait as well. Basically your passive SoI gives u the quickness to bridge the gap between rotations and thats how perma quickness is achieved. Having distortions on signet use is an amazing bonus.

If u run Illusions/Chaos intead of domination the higher cd on SoI will leave u with a few seconds without quickness at some point.
In a practical sense it’s not that bad but it leaves barely any margin for error especially when under pressure.

From what i’ve seen so far, even though it definitely is complicated it comes with some perks like not actually pulling the boss around during last phase but stacking on it and healing through active areas. It makes concentrating on distorting greens easier and lowers the risk of separated players not getting the distortion share, the aoe is actually pretty small if im not mistaken. Saffice to say, it’s not worth trying unless the dps is optimal since the overall risk is higher.

An issue: raids and their accesibility

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: zoomborg.9462

zoomborg.9462

As the topic title says, I think the accessibility to raids really is an issue.

That was pretty much my only goal yet, until the legendary armor was previewed.
It simply shouldn’t be that top tier content is limited to a small percentage of players.

And that really is the case – I’m in a large guild and roughly 5-10% are successfully, experienced raiders.

Other people (and I think that’s reflecting in the rest of the gw2 community) simply don’t get into raids – cause of the reasons mentioned above.

You’d have to join a somewhat professional raid guild to be really succesful.

Now i’m gonna teach people who keep saying Raids are inaccessible a lesson real quick here.

You see that LFG tool. Use it.

Here’s what you do
1) Create your own group
2) Label it one of the following things, Inexperienced / Fun / Teaching / Learning run
3) Set you own req for comp & let people know what if any voice tools your using.

You are now the proud starter of a raid group.

Lets stop using this false equivocation that raids are inaccessible, when the cold reality is people whom claim this don’t want to put in the same effort those before them did in building raid groups & learning.

That’s exactly what i did when i started raiding. I never really had a static group so my raids were 90% pugs. Getting a comm tag and creating my own groups made raids so so much easier.
Ofc since its pugs u can never guarantee a successful kill but that’s the downside of not being in a static group.

In the end it’s a matter of motivation and nothing else.

For dungeons both are excellent, for t4 fractals though rev is more self sufficient. If u got a healing druid in the group anything works but otherwise warrior dies too much since it relies on defense traitline for sustain which is not taken usually.

Oh forgot condi ps, its a safer option for fractals over power since u dont have to stand still with hundred blades to actually do dps.

Why does Lege armor have to be tied to Raids?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: zoomborg.9462

zoomborg.9462

Oh, here we go with the entitlement accusation again…..

If anyone is to be accused of entitlement, it should be those who complained to developers that there wasn’t enough hard content in gw2. These entitled gamers felt that the expansion(HoT) should cater to them. They are the ones who called for changes to the game to fit their gaming experience.

It was pretty transparent that hard content was not what they were really after. They wanted exclusivity. How dare a scrub have the same skin as me!!! So the entitlement argument is laughable……

I didnt ask for anything, i didnt even care about raids tbh. I just started raiding cause i found it fun, i would keep on raiding even without leg armor on the horizon. The exclusivity of the armor is plain fair for the effort and time invested though.
Was Anet after hard content or exclusivity? If u actually raid in this game then u know what’s what, otherwise u are just taking guesses.

Why does Lege armor have to be tied to Raids?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: zoomborg.9462

zoomborg.9462

I’ve played a lot of games and honestly i never thought i was entitled to anything besides the game, almost everywhere there are rewards that require some kind of grind or challenge. In the case of legendary armor, it requires both.

There are those that are not interested in legendary armor or they won’t sucrifice their own game experience for it and those that want it and work at it.

And then there are those that want it but dont wanna go through the effort so they bring up “entitlements”. “I’m entitled to leg armor cause i paid for this game”.
Legendary armor is meant to be exclusive just like pvp backpiece so u either play the respective game mode or you can pass it by.
No1 is entitled to any reward, that’s what a reward is.

Can I still contribute to raids?

in Revenant

Posted by: zoomborg.9462

zoomborg.9462

The nerf to boon duration is not what pushed rev aside. The nerf to SoI is the reason. Atm u get all boons from wars/druids/guards etc. And the 2 chronos make up for the chrono nerf. Especially since chronos run gravity well/moa even the cc is the same (better actually).
Essencially what’s happening in the meta now has nothing to do with rev but directly with chrono and SoI.

It’s your major source of ascended gear and a nice chunk of gold for relatively easy runs depending on group.

As a lot of people mentioned above t2/t3 can be quite tedious since players aren’t really familiar with basic mechanics such as boonsharing, cc, instabilities but it’s worth the time to get that ar to 150.

4 necro 1 druid?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: zoomborg.9462

zoomborg.9462

It’s basically efficiency. It doesn’t matter whether there is a druid in the comp as long as the majority is necros. Other than that i like having druid+chrono+3 necros, probably best setup i ever run on fractals.

A lot of classes like wars/thieves/eles have major weaknesses in T4 fracs that can be overcome through player skill. Unfrortunately the small amount of players with that skill is already rolling necros for fractals so most runs with random classes end up taking too long or they never clear.

Suffice to say that when running fractals with guildies it’s a different matter entirely since most people know their stuff.
