The only thing i would like is to see is greatsword aa get reworked a bit.
U mean Caithe stole Aureene cause stupid tree told her to.
Support ele already got nerfs upon nerfs and at the moment it is the only decent build they have left. True it is powerful but if u ask any ele they wish they could actually play something else instead of being a heal/boon bot 24/7.
Yes these classes are usually guaranteed spot (also magi druid). And yes stat swapping your ascended gear to viper and making an exotic power set for war is the best u can do.
The outmanned buff is indeed good cause unless u are in a very stacked server, its the only thing that can get u pips. However it should also be accompanied with very strict decay on participation so that people dont afk.
Anet! Raids too hard i want buy leg armor from TP, i has 300g so pliz make cheap, i casual cant grind plz anet giff me
Heavy is kitten, light is decent, medium as always gets the short end of the stick
Just farm some wvw pips and get leadership runes with heroics. Much faster than farming ds.
With the exception of kc, one dps class that is welcomed everywhere is condi ranger. If u are just starting out condi ps is an amazing option, u can also have a set of exotic for power just for kc.
Things like chrono, druid can be used with exotic sets so its rather cheap. Tempest is not a good class to start cause it needs a lot of experience b4 getting good rotations and dps while surviving.
Unfare plane much?
It is a problem with people transferring to top server all the time. Im on Deso and we had queues with 15-20 people on all maps on reset night. But other than friday bl’s are outnumbered almost 24/7. Meanwhile fsp/gandara have about 3 times the numbers and full coverage throughout the week so we are talking about at least 50+ queues. That’s overpopulation right there.
On NA they problem is much bigger where there are 3 servers with all the population and the rest are completely dead. Hence the queues.
People will have to get over the “i need to be on top” mentality if there will ever be server balance again. Linking is also very lackluster and makes the problem even worse.
I’m happy where i am even if we can’t compete with gandara or fsp but thats also partially to not having any links since god knows when.
Still with the loyalty thingy now even people u transfered to overpopulated servers will think twice b4 transferring again.
First threads i see in wvw section “Lower the rank for armor” “Give EotM pips”. Holy kitten people are so kittening entintled nowadays. Most usually pve players, they are so used to getting a lot of stuff for no effort and that disease is now spreading into wvw. IF U WANT THE REWARDS JUST kitten AND GO FOR IT INSTEAD OF ASKING FOR FREEBIES,
This is coming from a mainly pve player who got leg armor and is now hunting for the wvw (150 rank so ways to go) armor+back. And yes pve entitlement has become a disease for this game.
“Giving eotm pips would give pver’s an easy way to farm them without screwing up wvsw with players who don’t want to play wvsw.” And finally we get to the point.
As always pve entitled players. Same thing was happening with leg armor, every single pleb crawled out of their holes to ask for free rewards.
Just play wvw if u want the rewards and dont ask Anet for freebies.
yes OP u are right, there should be 2 queues, 1 only for solo with solo MMR and 1 for groups with party mmr for any group (2-5 players). Any healthy pvp game works like so.
Unfortunately GW2 PvP doesnt have a wide playerbase so we would be talking about 15min queues.
PvP as it is requires a massive overhaul to draw new and returning players in order to flourish. Then the queues would be separated without increasing queue times.
The balance of classes is fine, some classes are better for group play, others for solo/small scale objectives. U cant balance every class around everything, there’s always gonna be an optimal composition.
I suggest OP realizes that most of the classes excluded from zergs offer minimal contribution and at times take a slot from classes that make a zerg strong and competitive.
If u dont wanna play these classes no problem play what u like, but dont expect commanders to treat u like some special snowflake.
Or u can try and make your own squad where everyone can join with w/e they want and get farmed by enemy zergs over and over.
10/10 entertaining thread.Google translate OP.
As a player with leg armor i would definately agree to this. The raid armor although leg doesnt require that much dedication, one full clear every monday and thats it. The wvw armor requires 3-4 times the commitment to aquire so i agree. It should be legendary to reward those who have played the crap out of the mode throughout the years.
Eotm should definitely have the pip system. eotm was created to give players the same rewards as wvw all while being a map that never gets a full que of players, unlike wvw. By not giving the same rewards it de-insentivises play in eotm over wvw. It also defeats the purpose of its original implementation.
I pretty much summed it up in the other thread.
Um no? Eotm is basically a “lounge” while w8ing to get into actual WvW. Nothing more, nothing less. It is not supposed to lure people in with rewards or anything and definately not prioritized over actual WvW maps. U can farm ranks and karma there but that’s it and that’s all it should be.
Rewards are part of WvW and Eotm is not actual WvW, just a random map people stay on until they enter an actual WvW map.
It’s like saying that unranked pvp should have the same rewards as ranked or automated tournaments. Unranked is there so people can fool around while w8ing for next pvp season.

Definitely more cms like 100cm would be great. 100cm was the best addition to fractals ever.
It doesnt matter what stats u are using as long as u can manage your boon uptime and toughness. A lot of people on alt accounts are even using soldier gear with plat dubloons and mb sigil of concentration, so ye as long as boons and aggro are managed u are fine to use what u like.
However, if u are looking to maximize dps that 186% critical dmg is really hurting u. Try to take it to at least 200%.
I use full zerk gear with leader runes (back is also ascended/kitten dubloons) except from one commander sword( with conc sigil). It sits at 87% boon duration with a bit more dmg than the qt build (without bountiful sharpening stone) and quickness uptime is permanent (u can upkeep permanent quickness with 80%+ boon duration).
I understand that leadership runes are such a pain to farm but they are the most stat effective rune u can use. On a side note with the new skirmish chests from wvw u can just get a nice amount of heroics and buy the runes from the wvw vendor instead of farming dragon stand over and over again.

The main reason if im right is that dungeon coding was a mess, mostly the npc’s bugging like there’s no tomorrow and it was way too hard and tedious to fix things.
Another reason is that, it was too hard for anet to expand the dungeons, create new ones and keep them fairly competitive after the HoT powercreep emerged.Practically they would have to rework every single dungeon in the game from scratch to make it remotely balanced with the new HoT specs.
Fractals on the other hand have a very healthy progression system and they are rather small, it is fairly easy to change the existing ones and add new ones without breaking anything. They can also work with instabilities, leg backpack, achievements, challenge motes etc.
The same will happen when the new exp gets released. A lot of the gameplay will have to be balanced depending on the powercreep it brings. Dungeons simply arent flexible enough to deal with these changes.
To top it off some of the dungeon paths are 70% skips with stealth. Whats the point of a path when u basically just stealth through it, ignoring everything until u reach boss?
I am not complaining, I am describing what deters me from doing raids, and probably others also.
tbh I don’t want someone who has done it to train me, I don’t like being told what to do. But I don’t see any other way of learning how to do raids. I would prefer to play the game, to learn to play the game, independently. Not do research on the latest cookie cutter build and copy paste my play style from a guildwars obsessive with a website.
and now that I have spent my weekend, not playing guild wars, but instead trying to find non kitten non-elitist websites that actually explain why I can’t play my Necro, but instead an Engineer. That also don’t contradict the previous website I just read.
thank you for the links, I will check them out
Feel free to create your own group of 10 people who dont wanna check any guides or dont do any proper rotations or play w/e they want and dont like to be told what to do on top of that.
Also feel free to spend hours upon hours upon hours of wiping just because the group will be a complete mess and people will start to leave as soon as they joined.
Raids are all about organizing, running meta builds and comps is a way to shorten the amount of time u need to kill a boss IN PUGS.
The way u describe it is: u wanna go into a raid with zero knowledge and learn through trial and error while hoping that someone or at least half the group know what they are doing to make up for people like you who dont actually care about self performance/contribution or team composition but still expect to kill the boss regardless.
Stop being so self-centered, it’s first and foremost a team effort.
EotM is basically a lounge or that’s how it was destined to be. U can farm ranks there if u want but the rewards from pips and server contribution dont work. That seems fair enough.
We already had mindless ktrains for years on EotM, gaining pips on top of that would be a bad idea unless u are one of those super casuals that cant fight for kitten.
For power dps:
staff thief, dh (hammer or gs/scepter/torch either are ez to pull off)
D/WH temp is also ez
Power engi also ez and effective.
For condi:
Ranger, Mesm,Rev, Temp are also really ez.
“There is a very simple reason why people hate meters. It hurts to have a bad feeling about your own underperformance being proven to you by accurate numbers and statistics.
It hurts even more to have your mind blown if you didn’t even realize you were underperforming or to know that other player will see all of that information as well.”
This is so true. Well ignorance is bliss i guess, u dont see the need to improve, u dont see the rest of the team carrying you, so u can remain ignorant and keep on getting carried.
That’s why people dont like the dps meters, cause it says FU to people using trash builds, trash rotations, dragging the rest of the group down and getting carried all over the place. For a lot of people dps meters are one of the best ways to improve…then again most people dont want to improve, its too much effort even in a game as ez as GW2.
French servers…..they hope between other french servers like there’s no tomorrow and its literally the worst playstyle of all. Sit inside our keeps all day long and build ac’s….
Srsly the match up doesnt even matter, just join a normal server that actually wants to fight instead of camping keeps 24/7 and only nightcaps cause fights too hard. Even fsp blob cancer is better than this.
It’s something i usually do on my own to be fair. I usually play a marauder chrono in zergs which is quite effective if played properly but at the same time a more useful class could take its place and utilize the boons provided by the guards/revs.
So what i do is i join squad (most comms dont usually kick mesmers) and if that squad is nearly full i leave it to make space for another guard/rev/necro or whetever works. The com doesnt have to kick me cause i grasp the situation and how my less efficient build isnt as good as the top tier meta builds.
Summary: It’s fine to play an off meta build as long as you grasp the situation and how much u can contribute. If as a ranger/druid u are taking a slot from a more contributing class then i would kick u as well. Sucks but a “deadly squad is a happy squad”, and everyone should agree on this and stop being salty about it.
Can someone enlighten me as to what the pirate meta is?
Legendary WvW players? Really? With the current state of balance? You must be joking. This is an MMO. I don’t mean to sound harsh, but you’re being a snowflake. Please spare me the “I work so hard” speech in regards to a game. We all bought the same game you did and your snowflake rant of wanting exclusion speaks volumes to how this once great community is just as toxic and elitist as every other MMO.
Yes legendary, most of these players have stuck with WvW through thin and thick and they’re loyal to a fault. Bold statement but there wouldnt be wvw anymore without them keeping the wheels turning. We all bought the same game, difference is they are genuinely interested in GW2 and how it fares in the future, all u care about is your kitten rewards.
So yes, they arent elitists or special snowflakes. They simply deserve better.Period.
And tbh im only 130 rank and been playing on and off so i will never get most of these rewards but i dont give a kitten, whats fair is fair.
(edited by zoomborg.9462)
As being said u can still reap some additional rewards even if u have all the ranks you need. Most veterans though dont have 2k ranks cause a lot of them either roam scout or havoc which makes progress so much slower even with years playing.
I still get what u say but plz one thing at a time.
I get what you say. Rewards have brought back a ton of people or new ones but the fundamental problems of balancing are there with impossible queues on top of it.
Still its a huge boost for wvw after being neglected for years and i just hope it will get a lot more attention balance-wise the more people get into it even if a lot of them are just gonna go back to pve after a few weeks. Somewhere it had to start and this is a good start to things. Maybe im being too optimistic about this……
A few months ago i used to pug some zergs with marauder/berzerker one shot build, basically gs+ domination traits with stunlock. Main purpose is to instantly burst anyone that separates even slighlty from the zerg, grav well is also amazing.
Truth be told even though in a pug setup it performed quite nicely, again serious zergs its like a wet noodle :commanders will probably put you on a separate subgroup with no boons and the pewpew from gs aint that good either.
EDIT:u might accidentally kill some zerker from pve Kappa.

I was talking specifically about the new players, u can read that in my post.
As for the entitlement rant, its one of the most harsh truths about the newer generation of players and very much connected to why they feel raids are not accessible.
It’s one and the same.Because the MMORPG veterans all like raids soo much.[/sarcasm]
Most of the MMO veterans either raid or have raided at some point unless you are talking about the players that cant even clear t4’s after all these years.
Not to mention raids in their pure form were nothing like GW2. The gear treadmill was huge, the difficulty was brutal and full clears could take all day.
U can full clear GW2 in 2-3 hours. That is by far too ez compared to other games. So stop talking about raids when u yourself dont raid, dont have any experience with it and dont know what your talking about. If u ever watched any, any stream/video etc u will see that most veterans in this game either do raids/pvp/wvw cause everything else got boring really fast. And the rest of them are logging in for half an hour, mb kill a world boss and then go to the forums to complain how hard this game is.
I was talking specifically about the new players, u can read that in my post.

It’s one and the same.
Is there anyway to lower the rank requirement for t3 armor from 2000 to say 500? Maybe 700 or even 1000? 2000 ranks requires you to play around 3-5 hrs a day in wvw mostly doing player vs door for a year. Any way you guys could reconsider, as I’ve lost motivation and feel it’s an egregious amount especially since I like zerg vs zerg and roaming and not pvd.
I’ve played a good amount of wvw since launch and am rank 364 with about 360 hrs in wvw. Feels unobtainable.
It might seem extreme but its well thought out from anet’s side. Those commited enough already have or will commit the time to get the ranks needed. It prevents people from just bandwagoning the mode like what happened with the ascension backpack. U had people with no clue of pvp grind the backpack without ever getting better at it thus just trashing the matchmaking for those that actually care about pvp, then never coming back.
2000 ranks means that people the want to get into wvw will stay and get better at it, widening the community/guilds etc instead of just trashing their server for a month b4 wvw turns into a wasteland again.
Today was pretty bad with the long queues and the newbies in zerk gear dying all over the place giving free rallies but it will get better with time as people start to adapt and become more knowledgeable.
Raids are by far the most healthy “mode” in the game, there arent complaints about quality or difficulty by the active raiding playerbase. Most people that complain are usually “tourists” in a sense that they dont really care about them, they just want to “experience” them whatever the hell that means…..so we’re talking about people with no experience whatsoever trying to make solid arguments about things they dont know.
Difficulty is one of those things. Surprisingly enough if u go into raids knowing your class and build inside out, learning the mechanics is gonna be a piece of cake. Problem is most of the newcomers dont commit any time to learning their own classes, dont listen to commanders, dont even answer when spoken to, completely clueless just hoping to get carried. That’s right, so so many people that wanna get carried and as soon as someone calls them out they instantly leave the group b4 they get any more attention. It’s like hiding behind your finger.
This is the playerbase that asks for difficulty scales, the entitled, the delusional, the lazy, the “stuck in the open world” mindset. And when no1 hears them they bring up the excuse that “raids have lore and i want it cause i paid for the game”. You paid for access to the game, not progression/completion which is by all means a personal commitment and not something to be catered by Anet.
Although I am a roamer myself and would love to have more rewards, keep in mind that WvW is based on large scale battles with many players duking it out at once. If Anet wants to focus on smaller scale battles then they would direct their attention to pvp
This pretty much. Roaming is somewhere between pvp and wvw zergs, it’s almost impossible to balance the rewards. Giving more xp for kills for example would make zerging even more profitable, capping supply camps, killing sentries is something that can be done by both roaming parties and zergs so that’s impossible to balance either.
At the same time they could implement sharing xp, like xp being divided by the players that tagged enemies b4 getting the kill but that would decrease drastically the xp from zergs. Zergs are the priority for anet and the basic form of wvw.
Generally one look at the lfg and u will find that things have shifted a lot since the release of leg armor meaning :
1) Lfg is packed with groups almost all day,i see so many training runs and generally people have become more lenient with requirements.Especially on weekends the amount of these runs is enormous.
2)Lfg requirements have dropped drastically. Apart from monday clears there are a ton of low LI runs or even no LI runs (experienced, know mechanics etc).Even though to my experience most of these runs have a 50% kill chance, it is an opportunity for those that dont have the experience to join in and play.
There has been a huge influx of new players in the raid scene the last couple of months regardless of being casual or hardcore or anything. I always thought that people complaining about raid accessibility are those that impose limits on themselves, either entitlement, dellusion or rl issues (work, time, family).
Unfortunately for those who still cry about story mode the fact that raids are only getting more popular shows how people are willing and able to invest the time and effort instead of qqing for difficulty scales and other “carebear” changes.
Thank you very much!
The problem with some break bars is that they’re balanced around the assumption that everyone has the equivalent of a 5s stun, when realistically most have the equivalent of a 1s stun at best. It’d also be a lot more fair for groups if the conditions ticked simultaneously.
To make it fair for everyone, they should simply use counter magic to give everyone an ability that damages the break bar whenever it’s time sensitive. It probably won’t be a problem in the next expansion however, assuming they use mounted abilities.
Every-EVERY class has strong cc if u use the right utilities and weapons. Problem is people are too kitten lazy/ignorant to use them.Best example is when chronos use TW on vinetooth instead of moa. When rangers camp longbow and tiger all day long instead using cc pets and axe on swap or something. What about the ton of necros that camp scepter/dagger and never use gs or warhorn?
Even if anet used cc bars on weak enemies people would still just ignore them and straight dps. The problem is the 1111111 mentality as said above that has been going for 3+years straight. Add to that, a lot of people still use skill-clicking so practically cant do kitten at any given circumstance including vinewrath.
Elite Specializations - were a terrible idea
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: zoomborg.9462
Elite specializations are first and foremost the big selling point of HoT, making them stronger than the rest was to be expected and they have been nerfed through time. The same thing will happen with next expac. Most specializations will be full powercreep and slowly they will get nerfed again.
Regardless of balancing introducing overpowered stuff was always a selling point for pretty much any game. Check other more popular games like Dota/Lol, new heroes/champions are always OP at release and get nerfed after a while. It’s how u attract population, then striving to keep them.
As for build variety, there never was much even b4 HoT as all classes still had a "better"build, if nothing else u have more choices now depending on the mode u play.
For example guard can be played agressively in PvP, defensively in wvw and full dps on PvE.Something like that would never happen without DH. Same with rev, chrono, druid etc etc.And ranger used to be the most “useless class” without HoT.
Is there a site where we can check the toughness of each boss?
WvW is hard, we need story mode, anet fix plis.
New Player, Sad Player. Expansion ruined it.

I really love soloing the HP’s in HoT, u can do it with pretty much any class by experimenting on skills/traits and its very fun messing around with those.
100 cm all the way…. i really hope the cm mechanics get established thoroughly in a lot of fractals and ideally replace the old cm’s with decreased healing, as time goes on fractals can become boring especially with a good group where everything outright melts.
It’s not about underperforming. A perfectly-played guardian can’t outdps a perfectly played Tempest, and condi tempest is extremely easy to play.
Very true, still guardian atm has a very low skill cap as far as dps rotations go, keeping up perfect rotations is rather ez unless we talking Matthias. Whereas Tempest takes time and effort to master and even then lots of things happen. Dont forget that tempest relies on picking up conjured weapons (sometimes people pick them up messing up rotation or warriors put their banners right on top), also tempest is by far the class that heavily relies on permanent alacrity otherwise rotations get messy.
I still see guardians in raids and the dps potential is still there. The problem is that in order to keep up with other dps classes u need to perform super good. What does that mean?
It means that guardians are only a setback if the player isnt that experienced while they perform very well otherwise. Truthfully most guardians i’ve seen are really struggling with dps even though the rotations are ez af.
It is a player problem first and foremost and it reminds me of that bad stigma certain classes had like ranger/necro cause most just run terrible builds (like bearbow/camp lb or power necro). Same with guard, the more people see guards underperforming the more the class is gonna get pushed away and sadly that is the case atm.
People recommend sweet and spicy butternut squash for 2 reasons.
1) Most meta builds are tailored around giving you almost 100% crit chance with fury, spotter, banner. Hence any precision food is wasted.
2)After seaweed salad nerf u need to have near permanent uptime on the 5% buff to make it worth it over butternut squash.
The only reason for not using it is because its expensive. Less so if u craft it but still expensive.
