it’s not that bad in my opinion. biggest mistakes are: keeps and towers to big, fortified gates, keeplords to strong. For the rest mapsize should’ve been smaller, but on the other hand it offers us new content after 3 years of alpine bl, promotes tactical gameplay and most chokepoints have a decent size (not to small).
I won’t argue that the new map is better then the old one, but atleast it would be nice if ppl would actually give it a try instead of complete desolation.

however the generic plan is indeed according to rayden described i personally don’t feel these points don’t contribute to the storyline at all. In the end you end up helping all the races, but they don’t help you at all. where’s the combined war of the itzel nuhoch and exalted to battle against mordremoth? Anet tried to bring out a decent story but in the end it just feels like 3 maps without any correlation to the personal story (haven’t played that much on the 4th map so can’t judge about that)

Cannons can insta kill balli+AC only way to counter then is by making a treb in the distance-> really slow playstyle and requires alot of sups per objective. this will make it harder for striketeams and low populated servers to cap towers

-emergency waypoint
endless keep/castle fights can be the most exciting experience in WvW. opening a WP for a period of time, no matter wether the keep gets contested or not will result in the assaulter getting rekt while having even numbers and only possible to cap if you heavily outnumber the enemy.

Also the Banners are questionable, i personally just really dislike unfair advantages in open field fights.

There is a cooldown on the dolyaks so not every one is invulnerable and you have to use a active spot for it and some of the other ones are nicer, in my opinion.

Hardened Gates, I think you mean Invulnerable Fortifications, is only temporary (probably no more than 30 sec) with a long cooldown.

Hardened Seige, there are other counters including just attacking the player on the siege which is has always been quicker than destroying the siege. Now you just have to keep a few players putting down aoe’s to keep them from getting used or kill them with siege.

Waypoint does seem strong, maybe they should limit it to only so many players can come through it, like Mesmer portal. But with a long cooldown this can be played around with feint attacks.

i’m not saying that there are no ways to counter it, but i think the guildbuffs should be just a small extra reward, but i feel like these upgrades are out of proportion. WvW guilds are all about teamwork, being a significant threat with small numbers. No mindless blobguilds/serverguilds that get extra important because they can trigger these buffs

since Gw2 basic is free to play right now, what does this matter for the daily login rewards? Daily login offers 60 laurels over a period of 28 days, converting those laurels into t6 materials results in 6 t6 mats a day per account.

Did Anet made restrictions for multiple accounts per IP adress or something like that to counter this? and if so, what happens to the players that have multiple paid accounts?

Golem Rush Event: They Have No Kitten Clue!

tbh my first reaction when i read this post (i don’t think that golems are OP, but definitely don’t need to be boosted) was kinda negative. On the second thought i was actually kinda happy with it. They promo the event so a small pvp/pve population will probably try out wvw. Also the prices of the alpha’s/omega’s will increase, resulting in lower use of the golems aferwards.

It’s a strange event, but it might aswell turn out to be a good one :P

Tbh ele’s aren’t in a good place right now: glyph’s, signets, arcane skills are still pretty pointless to take vs cantrips. Elites are probably the worst ingame. Eles are still forced to trait into water+arcana for PvP and staff ele in wvw+pve is ridiculously OP (can’t confirm for PvP not doing it that often). Getting backstabbed by thieves in wvw for 8-10k while doing that almost the same amount of damage per MS tick with MS hitting up to 72 targets instead of just 1, this class just feels really broken. It’s quite funny to play it for a while, but i feel like the ele is simply to OP atm.

Low buildvariety in pvp/pve, 70% of your utilities useless, useless elites, and complete broken dmge.
Is the class usefull: YES, is it balanced? NOPE

Need Help with WvW Ele build

it kinda depends for the guildsetup wether you want to run tempest defence or aeromancer’s training. Aeromancer’s training if you have few eles, tempest if you have more then enough of them.
I don’t like fire that much for guildraiding because the power of the fire line lies in lava font and MS. Guildraids tend to be alot more focussed on avoiding these aoe’s so your build will be less damage and more boxing. the air line provides some extra control such as a condition and short cd static, aswell as an instant extra damage boost with your lightning rod.

For the blobfight build you can either pick aeromancer’s training aswell as tempest defence, aeromancers provide some extra control where tempest focusses abit more on dps.
For grandmaster i really prefer BttH myself, simply because it’s an excellent finishing move, because for example MS crits 7-10k on casters so they can 1shot the enemy casters if they’re under the 50% healthpool giving them no time to react. lightning rod is fine aswell, but giving that last bit of a push to create several downed states is alot more effective imo.

also i’d happily welcome evry1 to try out the blobfight build, it’s very entertaining to watch your kitten commanders shouting out for necro bombs/saying necros are the only classes with a decent bomb, when you’re hitting 6-10k MS’s, 4-6k fireball/lava fonts and 3-5k fbow XD

you’re probably gonna die alot when using blobfight build for the first time, but when you’ve got your positioning right it’s amazing :P.
Going balanced setup is just a waste of your dps, if you have problems with surviving you can swap out a couple of berserker for valkyrie (and maybe take some assassins to compensate the precision loss).
Also getting downed state as ele isn’t necesserely a bad thing, aslong as you can position yourself good enough with your vapor form so you get rezzed up by your teammates, it’s a free 8k heal :P. The guildbuild is abit more focussed on staying alive because guildgroups tend to focus harder on downstate enemies.

YOUR opinion: WORST Profession at commanding?

Quite funny how atleast half of the people actually start debating about the usefullness of the class during commanding. War+guard are the ONLY professions that can have a decent build running aswell as being tagged up at the same time, therefore in any small group, the only viable setup would be guard/war.

When talking about blobcommanding the 1 extra person won’t contribute that much to the zerg, so the effectivity of the commanderproffession is like 89% surviveability, 10% control/support and 1% dmge. Saying some classes are not able to survive in certain circumstances simply because they’re used to see them running zerker builds is because of this reason plain stupid.

When you want to compare different professions, you should be comparing them, running with full nomads and tanky traits+utilities. Armor, health, hps, condi cleanse, stability and escapes are the factors that determine the effectiveness of the class.

Professions such as thief and mesmer lack the hps to be a decent commander, engi lacks the stability, necro and ranger lack the escapes and condi cleanse.

Ele, guard, and war have all these aspects
armor (3.8k ele, 4k+ guard and war)
health (22k ele+guard, war easy 30-40k)
hps( all 1k hps+)
condi cleanse( ele 9 condi cleanse and -33% duration, guard 1-2, war 5 condi cleanse -33 duration
stab(ele 2×10stacks/60 sec cd, guard 5 stacks 24 sec cd+3 stacks 90 sec cd, war 10 stack/60 sec and 5 stack/40 sec
escapes(ele mist+vapor, guard shelter+renewed focus, war defiant stance and endure pain)

I’m not claiming that engi, necro and ranger are unable to command, but they can be countered by the enemy zerg by abusing the weakness of the class. Ele, Guard and War have all aspects to counter the commandersniping. Mesmer and thief simply cannot sustain their surviveability themselves and therefore are to risky to command with.

Tbh, pre purchase price is fine, but that doesn’t mean that i’m gonna buy it.
1st of all there are gonna be a generous amount of new games/xpacs on the market (can’t wait till BD myself), giving no release date yet doesn’t give me any certainty that this game will be released within 6 months time ish.
2nd the amount of content released is very minimal and most of this content is even non exclusive for Xpac holders. (maybe they didn’t announce it yet, but haven’t seen any reasons why the Xpac should be bigger then currently estimated)
3rd the lack of respect they treat their veterans with is just kinda sad. Giving away free base games away to new players and refusing to give just a single kittening char slot to vets disgusts me.

Don’t get me wrong, i’d love to buy the game if they would give us some information and content instead of hypes about upcoming hypes with lack of dates.

It depends alot on the builds ppl are using though. Guard+war are generally fine where other classes such as ele+necro+ranger need to sacrifice their dmge to get enough surviveability.

Got a war, guard and ele, but my ele will always be my favorite commander class ^.^.
only downside of running ele is when the meleetrain isn’t familiar with the commander, they tend not to follow an ele his orders. Dat tunnelvision syndrome

Objective Upgrade

Trying to support people who don’t have a clue what to upgrade? sounds like a great idea but making a spreadsheet isn’t gonna work out.

Upgrades are situational, so they shouldn’t have 1 way to upgrade. Also upgrades vary for each tower/keep. (wether 2nd worker is needed or not for example) Incase you’re not sure what upgrade to put on, just ask it in the chat/the commander.

Spreadsheets just promote skill less players to make a decision they cannot make, just leave it to the experienced players on the map ^.^

to be honest, big zergs are naturally more clunky, just because it takes abit longer till the full group responds. Good guilds can easily exploit that situation by cutting off the slackers slowly. In case the small and the big group are equal skilled, i don’t see any reason why the small group should be able to wipe the bigger one.

Tbh the 300 range might also be a big boost to the skill (for wvw perspective) so you can apply to different groups of 5 every 3 sec instead of the same group over and over again. Also kinda curious wether the 200% increase is really a 200% increase (so 300% total) or 100% increase (200% total). Could be a funny trait to try out (you can get like 290 soothing mists heal atm if i’m not mistaken with full cleric) so 870 incase 300%, potential average of 16 player uptime=13920 HPS. don’t think it will work out this way, but can imagine myself having a blast using that to annoy the enemy zergs xD

i honestly don’t give a kitten about not getting any priveleges as vet player, so removing the guardstacks might sound fair. The problem however is that this will also greatly influence the dmge output by class (and therefore also balancing) and kittening up quite some of your armor sets.
As a player who sometimes buys gems of the TP aswell, just to gear up/being able to play wvw in general (food+siege+upgrades) this is simply rude. Full ascended armor set=~600g=60 euro’s, having multiple ascended+exotic sets which you can simply throw away afterwards.

Problems about this update are: unbalancing(can be changed by anet though), waste of gear→cash, not sufficient amount of rewards for vet players.
Anet just made a mistake in the very beginning to add these buffs, and now they’ve got to pay the price for their bad design

Seems you just have the typical myopic view and can’t see the wood for the trees, you talk about balance and an 8-10% DPS loss on ele, when for most of the game you have had four classes vastly overrepresented in WvW (raids/zergs), and four very under-represented to the point one of them, engy has been pretty much unwanted for the entirety of the game, balance, LOL.

true, the game isn’t balanced right now with engi+mesmers struggeling to fit into the zergs, which is mostly caused by the core mechanics of the class. These core mechanics can only be fixed by fundamental changes to the skills/new weapons. However it’s still no excuse to further decrease the balance between the professions :p

So, if you think the disparity between the HP of different classes is too big (which I do) then you should be in favor of any generally applicable buff that reduces the impact of that disparity.

Core balance is a whole nother beast, but I will say that balancing it through stacks would be an absolutely mind-boggling bad way to go about doing it. Hence why I think a removal of them will be a good thing in the long run for balance. They’re cancer, and they need to go.

Oh Absolutely, its a terrible way to do it! I don’t think they did it on purpose. I just think that their bad idea had some good side effects. TBH, I don’t expect them to properly balance WvW. I don’t think they even consider it.

The effects of the WvW buffs for kills won’t get removed.
They will just get baselined into the Rank System as automatic effects that you unlock for your characters once you reach WvW Rank 100 and Rank 200.

you’ve been deceived by reading the german patch notes, the english version stated it will be completely removed and german version stated it will be available at r100 and r200. 2 hrs later Collin stated on reddit (because the wvw forum obviously doesn’t exist anymore for devs) that the german statement is false and the wvw buffs will be completely removed

i’m NOT saying that removing the guard stacks is a bad idea, i’m saying that anet has balanced WvW around having stacks. If you suddenly remove the guard stacks effecting some classes more then others, you’re creating a disbalance which should be compensated in some way.

Yes, well. This is just like certain forms of CC were previously balanced around Stability being a duration-only buff, and are now ridiculously unbalanced due to their lack of a target/hit cap since Stability has been changed to a stacking buff.

Anet: When changes absolutely, positively have to be half-finished over night.

If you think i think it’s balanced that i’m often with ~20 melee on my tag who are not able to do anything because the amount of CC is to big to push through, then you’re wrong. By making such update they nerfed the melee bigtime making them weaker+incredibely boring to play. Why would i remain silent when they’re trying to make another update that creates a bigger disbalance between the classes?

This means it’s almost a pure 8-10% dmge loss of ele compared to necro, without the necro losing anything of their surviveability. Also you’re making the statement that ele relies on active defense, i wonder how you want to pop those skills if you’re getting 1 shotted by thiefs without the extra vitality though….

All this is telling me that stacks are fundamentally flawed by design since attributes have different meaning for different classes. No one should have to – nor be able to – make a build require guard stacks. Which again is a good point to removing them and letting everyone readjust around this, instead of having an obviously broken system in place.

There’s nothing saying that eles will be underpowered after this, they might aswell simply have been slightly too powerful as it is now. Going full berseker while getting a large percentage hp increase from stacks isnt even remotely balanced, to be honest. Should necro be getting an equal relative percentage increase to damage through applied strength? No, stacks going away will be better in the long run.

Well, necromancers lose 250 vit too, leaving them with 18-19k hp if going full glass. Elementalists aren’t exactly in a bad spot balance-wise, so saying that stacks were mandatory for them makes no sense. Eles rely on active defense, necros on passive; they should not have similar hp pools.

I find the stack removal good. They’re pointless buffs anyway that only serve to give people unfair advantage. They’ve also been a source of pressure on players to not die and always chase down guards like rabid dogs instead of focusing on more important things.

Another thing is that the relatively small buff the stacks give is greatly applied when a whole map blob has them, while the losing side gets a perpetual penalty for getting wiped. Bags and bragging is enough reward, there’s no need to punish the losing side.

With them gone, no one is nerfed and no one has gained anything. If you feel that you’ve been nerfed into the ground for losing those 250 vitality and 100 offensive points, you have bigger issues with your playing ability that you should probably work on first. No one ‘needs’ stacks. Instead, be happy you no longer have to chase godkitten guards all over the place before fighting just to feel ‘optimal’.

the main reason for all these complaints isn’t the fact that the vet wvw players wanted to stay superior in comparisson to new wvw’ers. The complaint is that in order to have a good wvw build you need a decent effective healthpool that is higher then a basic spike of for example a ranger/thief. Characters with low base health need this vitality in order to meet this effective healthpool, simply because toughness is nowhere near the effectiveness of vitality in this combination.
Removing 250 vitality out of the game means offensive builds need to lose 250 offensive stats just to meet the decent effective healthpool again. This means that these professions will lose up to 10% dps compared to classes who accumulated the decent effective healthpool by their base HP and armor. (ele’s for example losing around 8% dps compared to the necro that way).

summarizing: this update gates out the possibility for some classes to go offensive, losing build variety that way. Game gets unbalanced because some classes have a natural decent effective healthpool and other classes don’t.

I agree that applied fortitude+strength was a bad idea, but you simply CANNOT add in applied fortitude+strength→ start balancing around the new stats→removing the applied fortitude+strength again.

Guard Stack Suggestions

What about giving a small disadvantage per wvw rank? i’d suggest to reduce your power by 1 for each wvw rank you have. Experienced wvw players will have a high rank so they will deal less damage. As a silverwaste farmer i want to own these experienced wvw players with my full glasscannon bearbow ranger but now they are continously killing me. I asked my mom to send a report to Anet to stop these experienced wvw players from bullying me. Hopefully they will apply this change to WvW.
In the meantime i’m still getting owned by all these bullies so i won’t be playing WvW till this patch comes out. I’ll just go start roleplaying with my friends in LA and make up names for new structures!

That “small strike team” is legit crap. Ive had countless scenarios where even if we out number the enemy they just suicide themselves to kill a yak and we cant really do anything but watch. Until they add the dolyak escort buff I like these changes.

that’s exactly what i was saying, it was possible to stall upgrades by killing yaks, but with the patch the objectives don’t need yaks to upgrade. that means that small strike teams who have insufficient ppl to cap towers/keeps won’t be able to hold back the upgrading process. Forums have been QQing about PPT not being fair because of nightcap having to much influence, now they made the nightcrew even more important because this will also heavily influence the morning crew.

Also the obvious reason why anet reduced the cost of ability points is to make it easier for roleplayers to start trying out wvw. Adding more lines would do exactly the oposite, so don’t bother for hoping for new ability point lines.

Oh and @ lord krall, if they can’t make just a couple of ability lines in like a 6 months time period you should seriously start question the capabilities of anet XD

the difference is that upgrading now requires supply camps and cash, so people aren’t eager to spend 20g a night just to try to upgrade stuff, now not only the money gate is gone, but small strike teams won’t be able to stall upgrades anymore (since it will upgrade even when there are no dollies coming in)

so as ele i’m gonna lose 125 vit from trait loss, (running 4 in water atm) and losing 225 power. losing another 100 power from removal of applied strength and 250 vit from applied fortitude. gonna need to compensate the loss of vitality by adding extra vitality on my armor so gonna lose another 375 offensive stats, so in the end: -325 power-475 offensive stats.

Yes lets make evry1 hit like a wed noodle, WVW is way to hard!. luckily we don’t have to bother anymore with sieging up/supplies anymore either, it’s so hard to apply tactics in wvw you know!

It looks like Anet is trying evrything to get rid of gw2 and start playing black desert when they do the western release…..

Anet has already said that stat points lost from traits will be made up for increased base stats and increased stats on armor.

yep, by making all base stats 1000, so people who don’t go full brainless cele will get less power etc.

it’s not about wether the update was good or not in the beginning, when you change stats etc Anet rebalances around it. they lowered might damage, they reduced crit dmge etc. Now after 1 yr they suddenly say okey lets remove it, but this changes the meta alot. for example applied fortitude is mandatory for ele to survive in his current build state, this means that they will have to gear more tanky now. necro’s however don’t suffer the same problem because they got a 33k hp healthpool.
Also all wvw players have been working hard to get those ranks, it’s like getting your legendary as a pve scrub. now in 1 single page they just say that they don’t give a kitten about the effort people have put into it to max their rank and reduced the needed points by like 65%.
Apart from the question wether it’s good or bad to remove wvw ability points or not the way they deal with it is just rude, also they’re not even broadcasting it to explain their decisionmaking or whatsoever since apparently we weren’t worth a broadcast or Anet simply knew how the wvw community would react on this update and wanted to dodge the raging community.
Don’t know what the reasons were of anet community, but i know that i’ve never seen a dev team being able to ruin an awesome game like gw2 so hard.

engi is in almost every single way an inferior ele. The 2 reasons to pick an engi over ele is because of slick shoes and their pull. Now with the pirateship meta slick shoes is in my opinion to situational (you need to be able to fully push in the zerg in order to make usage of it) lack of stability, lack of ranged CC and overall party support are some of the main reasons why engi is not in the meta.

When comparing engi vs war playstyle i need to agree on the fact that war has lost it’s glory days and now is often reduced to a bannerbot only

ele’s might not be king of control but they do offer quite some quite some abilities that are very usefull. Magnetic aura+burning retreat might not be considered in your point of view as control, but magnetic aura simply puts the ranged attacks of the enemy on a 5 sec cooldown and burning retreat opens up for alot of kite potential giving you alot of extra "control"over your enemy. (Could give some examples on the other weapons aswell but i think i’ve proven my point :P)

The thing that makes ele’s great is that they offer all aspects of guildwars 2 holy trinity (support, control and damage) and therefore they are a viable class for PvP and WvW. Also the water+arcana traitline offer a great amount of healing and condition removal so they can outlast some other classes.

For your 2nd question about the fresh air build, this build is very squishy and you will need alot of skill combo’s to quickly finish off the oponent, because in longer fights you will die because of lack of healing/surviveability.
Fresh air builds relies on having decent burst (lightningstrike+lightningstrike trait+sigil of air+sigil of fire) in combination with quickly pulling off an extra spike combi such as dragons tooth+phoenix+lightningflash combo to quickly deal loads of dmge. incase you want to try out S/F i’d definitely suggest to look for some video’s first and just practice your rotations on random mobs rather then going straight for enemy players

Also both scepter and staff are harder to play and less viable in the current roam/pvp meta, you might want to consider taking D/D instead

to give up my 20 professions skills and 1 utility slot i want to get either 1. a big damage boost or 2. a very good CC, with other words i need them to be “broken” in order to work properly. Since this is exactly the reason why anet changed FGS, LH and IB i don’t think there’s even a small chance that these weapons will find any usage anymore.

Youtube vids offer an unrealistic view of the class, alot of vids only show fights against weak opponents/full zerk who simply get 1 shotted by any full zerk proffession

Remember almost all the videos by youtubers are montage highlight reels showing off the best fights. It’s for entertainment purposes. they don’t edit in the constant deaths, mistakes and counters to any spec they run in WvW (unless for specifically showing off a weakness or such) because that would make for poor entertainment and reputation.

So what is the problem with players “showing-off” the best fights on youtube? So what if they edit mistakes? Let me ask you something: if you were doing a presentation for school or for business: would you not edit your mistakes? would you not show-off your best talent/skills?

It do not make sense for you to target those players and put them down for presenting the game for what it is on youtube.

All Guild Wars 2 player videos are real: not fake except for exploits, botters and hackers videos. The videos i present to you from players are not fake, exploits, botters or hackers: they are real. You can ask Arena net to check them if you want to see that if they are if you want more evidence.

Sure! there are some players use abuse youtube videos for bad purpose but there are some players who use youtube for good purpose also. Good Purpose to demonstrate the problem with the game, profession, bugs and even explots so in return: if Arena net want too, will take action and fix them.

I am using these players videos to present Elementalist from their presentation of the Elementalist profession. And Yes!, their demonstration is real. And Yes! their demonstration show evidence of the Elementalist profession is broken.

Lol just read your essay, looks like your totally missing the point. Doing a spike combo on upscaled/people not paying attention/low skilled players DOES NOT require skill. Good players can counter those spikes pretty easily. Want me to start youtubing and look for full zerk thieves? you’ll find exactly the same kind of bursts. But well if you don’t believe it’s balanced just go play ele and find out yourself :p

New Aquatic Benevolence should apply to ele

Since minor runes are Mandatory they should provide a boost to the ele for any given build/weaponset and shouldn’t force players to switch to a different role that they don’t wanna be (in this case support).

On the other hand we can’t complain if we compare aquatic benevolence with the minor traits of warrior tactics giving them currently 3 traits based on rezzing people.

Phoenix is OP can’t argue with that. but apart from phoenix, fresh air ele is nowhere near OP, thief can do exactly the same xcept for the fact that thief DOES have surviveability with stealths etc where fresh air ele doesn’t. Making video’s about popping all your cooldowns and ambushing people doesn’t show any sign of skill. Look for 1v1 fresh air ele’s and you’ll notice that the build definitely isn’t OP.

Specialization Traits (Let's be constructive)

Fire minor 1: weak passive trait with (to) high lvl of randomness)
Fire minor 2: not viable for scepter/staff because they fight @ ranged

Fire adept: not viable for non condi/conjurer professions, burning precision to much randomness+weak effect

Air minor 1: useless buff because of high swiftness uptime+low speedboost
Air adept: only offers decent trait for d/d ele’s because of their aura’s

Earth minor 2: ineffective for scepter+staff builds because of close range

Water minor 3: not viable for 1v1/pve mode going party support should be an OPTION not being forced

Arcana master: All underpowered traits compared to other classes/traitlines

summarizing: The MINOR traits do not synergize well with every weapon set/combat situation. Because you can’t choose between minors, making them mandatory is very odd, blocking attunements for specific weapons. Also some adept/master traitlines do not give any traits that can synergize with specific weapons.
Last but not least Fire+Air adept and Arcane Master traits have to weak effects for their tier.

I don’t understand how the devs can make Illusionary Persona and Illusionary Elasticity baseline for mesmers, but force us to choose between the EAs.

PLEASE, PLEASE make a self-only version of Elemental Attunement a baseline functionality for us, and convert the GM version to extend the effect to allies.

Its rly bad to compare IP to Eva and Attument.. both EVA and Attuemnt have great AoE Wide effect, and are supperior to IP.

Im sure on 100% thats is pure PVP change. So yea, Eva and attument higly oversahdow IP in PVP, so thats why they did it. If you dont see why, its bcos you dont care about balance.

With new Traits when you can go 6Earth/6Water/6Arcane you dont need both of them. You dont need cond clear bcos of Diamond skin, and you dont need 3s protect bcos you can tank whole party in Earth attument. Stop cry about old builds, start think how you can abuse new one.

yep we know the 00666 invincible build sherloc, it’s about ruining the gameplay for D/D by switching to a passive low skill required tank build. Also the earth traitline is not really interesting to pick as staff or scepter so you can’t compensate the loss of EA with that. All we get in return is useless minors and weak adept/master traits in return (only fire+water offer decent master traits)

am i the only person that actually likes these changes? ;p (no exp in wvw roam/spvp) 60606 could definitely create an amazing dmge/surviveability combo with some knights gear+deadly strength+furios sharpening stones it’s not a huge leap forward, but it’s a nice small change abit of toughness is always helpfull for wvw necro’s and with anet continously saying “hard end content” is on his way and will be available in the HoT xpac i can defenitely see the value of adding some necro’s to my party.

Can we please stop with the hyperbole? This happens literally every patch that changes game mechanics. Elementalist is doomed! Anet is out of touch and doesn’t understand! My cat will now smell like a dog!

Look at why they’re doing things and just don’t flip out over nerfs when we don’t even know the final balance of anything. This is a more blue sky design preview, not a nails and tacks one. Look at the overall picture and not just the “nerfs” (fun fact, there were lots of buffs too).

It is literally in every class’ thread. Every single community thinks everyone is getting the best deal but them. Our society loves to play victims.

Lol that every single class is complaining doesn’t mean they actually have good reasoning behind it. 00666 gonna provide a solution for d/d pvp/roam ele’s but for other aspects of the game/weaponsets there’s not a single reason why this could be a buff.

Can’t tell that much about ele’s being broken in pvp, haven’t got the exp in there to judge. For roam in WvW i’d say they are a very balanced class, providing both surviveability and dmge, but definitely not OP compared to other classes (thief+mesmer+war etc) for WvW zerging ele offers a very nice aoe burst+combo fields, however retal definitely makes sure that you can’t just keep popping all your aoe’s all the time. Also to maximize dmge the ele needs to be build very squishy making it easier to counter as enemy. Ele is and should always be the master of aoe it’s just the very basic of elementalist imo. Because AOE is so important in wvw that’s exactly the reason why GWEN is the meta (no other classes provide heavy bombs apart from ele+necro).
for pve i’d say risk v reward is something to take into account, 99.9% of the players aren’t playing 100% perfect all the time, take the deaths into account in your dps calculations and ele’s should be in a good (but not OP) spot.

I don’t mind reducing the dmge of the ele a lillbit, but then atleast give us the same threat that all other professions (have higher healthpool+armor)

Tbh i feel like there still needs to be done alot of work around balancing professions. Ele is the best balanced profession atm since you can pick multiple roles (support+dmge+control) and finetune your dps/surviveability ratio.

Best balance doesn’t mean OP Anet :‘( no need to punish the whole class for something that is obviously only targetted on the sPvP aspect of the game (as always) :’(

scepter+daggers would pick fresh air over bolt to the hearth at any given day, staff would be still somehow viable, but you’d have to pick a completely useless adept trait and master traits (aeromancer’s training+shocking aura can be decent in some situations but definitely not great. weak spot only viable for pve ele’s, i could see pve ele’s go air traitline, but for wvw/pvp it seems to be a very weak traitline.

concluding: Bolt to the hearth most likely only viable for pve staff ele’s and hopefully sword but we’ll have to wait to see those skills.
