I also agree lighting rod is very important especially in such a crit heavy build it will also provide a nice source of bonus damage to play with. In addition why waste your grand master fire trait on anything other than free might? it would even allow you to drop sigil of battle for sigil of restoration so all your tags are free heals. Also arcane brilliance is apparently not acting as the blast it should so until further notice use the glyph or signit. These things and a few other minor details aside you have the general idea and you seem to have the experience but you lack optimization your too build around being able to use the same gear and specific traits/utilities for all scenarios. Also your advice about glyph of storms while valid is not always the best the lighting storm will actually deal more damage and it provides a quick way to get a whole group of enemies up to 25 stacks of vulnerability especially if you drop it inside a static field to lock them into additional hits.

actually arcane brilliance is working around 95% of the time, so it’s still more viable then signet of regeneration due to the low casting speed. The reason why i don’t take lightning storm is because of the impacts are all single target damage and therefore isn’t better then sandstorm if you’re looking only at raw damage the ice storm would be a better option (18×kittens=90 hits total) however the blinding of the sandstorm heavily outweighs the small loss of dmge. the next point you’re talking about is the lightning rod damage the only time you’re actually able to trigger this effect is when using your static UG. the effect is nice, but not worth it if you look @ the long CD.
soothing mist grants a very easy to get permanent party heal of 80 hps (so total of 400 hps). If you want to go pure on dps i’d suggest to pick tempest defence instead which can contribute alot if the necro’s
mesmers do their boon strip job.

last but not least you’re asking why i’m using persisting flames instead of pyromancer’s puissance. persisting flames is an excellent skill for buffing up infront of combat (erup+arcane wave/brilliance=33 sec fury) and it gives you a major damage boost during the fight since lava font last 2 seconds longer doing a potential 2×5 times ~4k ish crits= potential 40k extra dps every 5 sec (ofc i understand that you wont always reach the cap with it for the full 6 seconds, but still it contributes alot to the amount of dps put up. pyromancers puissance will give you a decent amount of might, but won’t be able to give you perma might uptime when you are actually swapping attunements.

Sigil of restoration is just a BS sigil, it only procs on enemy kills, however when you’re battleing stronger opponents which don’t directly drop down (like the moment when you actually NEED your extra HPS) it wont pop that often, making it an extremely non trustworthy healing ability.

also i don’t understand why you’re claiming that i’m too build around being able to use the same gear and specific traits for all scenerio’s. Right on top of my post i noted that there isn’t 1 single best elementalist build and there are 100 variations on every single server/guild you’re encountering i could make a list of 1000 possible builds, however that would be incredibly boring to read and only cause confusion to people who actually want to look for new builds. actually i’m switching every evening my build like 5 times atleast, let alone the utility swaps every ~5 min. There is just no way to post that all inside 1 post.

for WvW zerging staff+scepter(to clear sieges inside only needed like 1% of the time)
for WvW roaming D/D high dps output+high moveability
for PvE (dungeons) staff for beginners/big targets, d/f for high dps+ control, s/f more blast finishers
for PvP D/D or D/F mostly, you don’t really need to get the wep for it though with the pvp gearsystem

i’d try to do evrything to keep you off cele gear, you might consider using like a part of your gear with it but plz no more than that! full cele ele is just boring, to high surviveability and low crits due to low power. yea eventually you will be able to kill almost all of them in a 1v1 cause of the amount of HPS you bring up when going cele ele, however going cavalier/zerker combi or something gives to much more satisfaction. please just stay away from the cele meta and try out every single armor on them! from10k+ crits on meteorshowers to 2500hps party support to being able to down alot of enemy players in less then half a second. ele has alot to offer but don’t become one of those celestial scrubs

it’s not working on vapor form only. vapor form is just a last chance saver with only 20 sec cooldown. throwing 2 in water will result in a loss of 100 ferocity+100 precision over only 100 vit+100 worthless healing. using cantrip CD reduction trait will force u to use cantrips aswell instead of ice bow+sandstorm (unless you want a 100% useless trait ofc xD) like i already mentioned sandstorm is one of the most OP skills in the game 55 blind ticks, 1.5-2k crits, 4 sec bleeding, ~300 dmge ish. Frost bow doesn’t need any explanation i think and arcane wave will give you some healing and might+fury uptime aswell and therefore definitely worth it.
bolt to the hearth trait =20%more dmge/-33%HP is usefull because of the bonus dmge to low HP, if it was above 2/3 health, it would actually be okísh but not fantastic. under 1/3 health will mean that the enemies are probably retreating and you need to kill them asap be4 they ran back to the restack. giving you that extra 20% gives you that difference btween catching them or not.

by adding 2 points in water you’ll lose alot of damage potential while only gaining a small amount of surviveability. When you’re getting gankers on your kitten you still can’t survive long with 2 points in water. you can go 02066 with full zerker, however you’re talking about a totally different build in that case

ele is pretty easy to play tbh just about running the right builds and even if you just randomly click your skills you’re actually able to do some decent damage while maintaining high surviveability. If you’re afraid for the skill lvl being to high i’d suggest to go d/d if you’re going pvp and staff if you’re going wvw other options are possible for both pvp and wvw but will require to put a lillbit more effort into it.

(btw by saying that you can just randomly click skills i’d definitely not encourage that, you’re missing alot of potential :p)

The baseline of this build is actually very nice, full berserker while getting 80% crit chance for crit% cap this results in very high dmge which isn’t variable bcause of crit chances. I know there are alot of people argueing that this build will only result in insta retal kill and will only help the enemy by being a rallybot. However this build DOES work because of vapor form. Vapor form will make sure you get out of the dangerous situation while also giving yourself 3 more seconds for a rally up.
Frostbow is excellent nuking skill+sandstorm is best aoe blinder ingame so that are very good utilities. arcane shield+signet of restoration are abit of a waste imo though, you better pick arcane brilliance and arcane wave for extra blast finishers.

i’d pick this build myself if you want to go burst all the way, without losing much on dmge perspective you’re gaining boon duration and some extra surviveability.
you’ll get 6 in arcana giving you 10 sec cd cleansing wave 1300 heal (130hps) regen 50% uptime another 65 hps and your omnomberry pie giving 314 every ~1.25 sec=~250 hps. brings a total of 450 hps while still dealing massive damage apart from the other boons/condi removal you get.
the extra boonduration on strengthrunes and arcana will give you alot more might uptime, especially in combination with battle sigil. resulting in equal dps.

The superior sigil of restoration is just 100% crap in my opinion. it gives you HP on player kills, however when engaging harder fights your sigil of restoration will proc less. it’s an uncertain heal and therefore you shouldn’t take it.
Last but not least this build isn’t meant for ganker heavy zergs since you’ll just get insta buttraped. For the rest it’s positioning all the way, gl practising it’s definitely one of the funniest builds for ele in WvW

Since WvW is based on a weekly reset, the amount of resistance being put up against your server is depending on the enemy servers. The build you’re using also depends on the resistance. When you’re outnumbering the enemy you’ll be less prior target than when outnumbered yourself. Since the elementalist can be built to be the squishiest and one of the tankiest classes ingames, it is important to take the situation into account and change your build according to the situation. These 5 builds i’m representing have been my standard builds for the last 2500 hours with continuous adjustment.

This build relies on very heavy damage and insta nuking the enemy (zerg) down. There are no cantrips in this build because any serious damage will get you insta killed anyways. Good placement is a must at this build! Glyph of storms is very OP when used in earth (11 pulses 1.5-2k dmge with ~300 bleed dmge and blind) aoe and therefore should be used properly in the earth element. When using this build don’t feel afraid to die since you (should) get alot of rally’s on your oponents.

bottlenecks of this build are bad placement and retaliation. As we all know the staff elementalist worst nightmare is retaliation, but since this build is using low HP (~14.5k)
he’ll die very quick.
Since the elementalist has the lowest HP+armor base i’d consider applied fortitude to be a must if you want to use this build.

This build does a littlebit less damage than the 1st one, but in exchange for the damage loss this build provides some basic healing and support. (cleansing wave+elemental attunement). I prefer to use arcana instead of water because elemental attunement offers party support aswell. you’ll still have the condi cleanse and heal with cleansing wave and the 30% attunement recharge rate+30% boon duration is just awesome.

1st bottlenecks is just like 1st build the lack of health->retal kill. However you won’t be able to facetank a zerg, the arcana will provide basic healing to survive under normal circumstances (without a ganker).
Again, since this build doesn’t use any traitpoints in water i’d suggest to get applied fortitude before trying this build.

The next build is using the traditional traitline providing alot of extra healing and some vitality. under most circumstances i’d advise to run to run with zerker gear in this setup. If you’re not feeling to confident about running berserker gear you can swap to celestial (please don’t wear soldiers crap). This build is considered to be the “main” build for the elementalist. (i’d use this build myself with even zergs-enemy zerg bit stronger).

This build swapped bolt to the heart out for earth’s embrace. Build is mainly for people who don’t feel confident enough with their stability. Losing alot of potential kills but giving you 1 more chance when you’re getting the full blob on top of you. instead of 9 in water 8 should be a more valid option. since you shouldn’t have problems with surviveing, you should always be a constant factor for the water blastfinishers.

This build isn’t meant for large scaled zergs, 10-15 max. the main priority of this build is giving heals to your party. However often discussed and thrown away in the garbage disposal, this build actually does work and can provide up to 2k hps (for every party memb). Requirements for this build is that you have a well organized zerg for effective use of your area heals. Also note that blasting staff has been removed out of this build, this is for extra healing for the extra healing from blast finishers. Damage loss aint to big big.

white swords pop after 30 seconds of combat, that’s actually long enough to fully kill a door (sup ram does ~2.5k dps on reinforced door) gate has 610k HP so that means you’d need 8 sup rams to down the gate in 30 seconds. You need around 30 pplz for 8 sup rams, even less if you’re using +5 upgrades.
Ofcourse most people wont throw down 8 sup rams on a gate, but we also need to take the reaction time into account. It takes atleast 30 seconds to get OOC→port keep→get to the tower, which would bring the total amount of rams needed down to 4 superiors.

We don’t need anet to tell us that scouts are a vital part of WvW, removing the white swords will only result in outnumbered servers not being able to pull off decent zergs+scouts which will debalance the fights. Bronze tier just lacks numbers in general to coverup scouts in all towers. scouting is incredibely unrewarding, no lootbags and 1g up to 5g upgrade costs sieges not even taken into account yet. Removing white swords will also remove the tagging strategy, not used very often, but tagging can be really powerfull for diversion. And removing any real strategy from WvW is just stupidity.

Will PPK reduce fights

it’s just a terrible idea. The increase of PPK will result in the weaker zerg continuously hiding inside their tower nuking on the zerg with their sieges until they finally are able to kill them. This update only results in a reducement of total number of fights. During the last few weeks FSP has already been so frustrated about zergs (sometimes even twice as big) just running away. Giving the extra PPK will just shoo them away even more.

The second reason why anet shouldn’t implement this, is that it will further decrease the amount of glorious guilds/hardcore pugs who push in a blob because it will only hurt their own ppt.

Since the stomp ability has been introduced i already command my zerg to stay away from objectives instead of running in again when it is highly unlikely to actually hold the objective. Next update is gonna make sure that the players stay away from the towers so a blob can just roll over it without any resistance?

Tbh the player mentioned at the beginning of the post definitely had a point. Upscaleds will rally the enemies creating a (major) disadvantage for your own server. Apart from being a rallybot or not, you will still be seen as a spot filler. Because you entered, a level 80 can’t enter giving the server again a (small) disadvantage.

The player who whispered you probably was frustrated because he noticed many upscaleds in the zerg or anything like that. However, he shouldn’t go straight for offensive and calling you names, but instead just ask politely “could you go on your main”? If that player knew that your friend was new to the game, he would’ve probably reacted differently.

The key problem of the whole story is the is the lack of damage output/surviveability of the upscaleds especially with the recent update that totally kittened up the lvling/learning process by not giving any skills/trait points. This problem is easy solveable by using the pvp armor system instead of this upscaled system, this will make it possible to get a decent amount of stats and full trait points for the upscaleds.

Since most of us know anet, it will probably take a while before they implement changes to boost the upscaleds. Because of that we will probably have alot more frustrated hardcore wvw’ers complaining about the amount of upscaleds in the zerg.
WvWers don’t hate the community, they just hate the amount of interest that Anet puts into WvW

just go all the way celestial if possible, your bloodlust+might stacks will give you a kittenload of might→ power. celestial is best in slot, however takes some to gatherup bcause of that charged quartz crystals+laurels so it can take a while be4 you get it. for dungeons i’d say you can swap out as much celestial as possible and place in zerker gear if you can survive it ;p

most of the build stayed the same. for sigils battle is a must, i’d recommend bloodlust for zerging, sigil of doom for 1v1. Best armor should be celestial, however combination of knights+soldiers works fine aswell. Strength runes when 1v1, melandru runes while zerging.

if you’re feeling you’re a little bit to squishy don’t feel uncomfortable to run abit more surviveability, especially when you’re running d/d or d/f. Ele is designed (especially the dagger ele’s since #1 air is very strong) to do alot of damage even when they are tanky. When you’re fully leveled up you should reroll to the standard stats (power, ferocity, precision) incase you want to go dungeons, bigger variety of builds ’n armors when going pvp/wvw.

D/D provides more moveability and therefore is often used in pvp/wvw. D/F offer abit more control, damage mitigation and even a projectile block, and therefore is better when running dungeons.

D/D is easier to learn then D/F, when you’re spending alot of time during the lvling process i’d recommend just to try out both and see whatever fits you the best :p

it’s still possible to get inside SM by using leaps (not gonna mention where etc because i hate any kind of cheating @ wvw) Anet is already well informed about the place but they don’t seem to care about it. Either that mesmer just hacked the game or he used those weakspots of SM.

Also please notice the fact that most servers are not supporting the hackers (we also hate them (FSP)) However this commander probably didn’t know it, it still looks kinda suspicious and therefore he should’ve rejected the portal.

Which ele wpns heals more?

for personal healing it doesn’t really matter which wep you use, probably d/d all the way bcause of the high autoattack of signet of restoration. When going in group you need to go all the way staff when fully specced you can heal up to 700 hps (regen+soothing mists) water attunement swap reaches about kitten hp, blasts+cleansing wave up to 3k and autoattack water up to 1.2k. Note though that you’re gonna lose a crapload of dps on your armor though when you’re going all the way healing.
For PvE i’d recommend to go vit healing condi with some krait runes (you’re not gonna reach the numbers above by far that way, but you will be able to pull off a signific amount of condition damage with eruption.

For WvW i’d recommend clerics or nomad if you really want to go all the way healing. note though that most of the healing in wvw comes from blasts so you’ll be a bit less usefull over there.

it’s not about saying all thieves should roll P/D build, i’m just mentioning one of the examples how you can actually manage to pull off some surviveability. that beïng said other thieves still got a decent amount of stealths and shadowsteps going on, just don’t expect anet to give you the highest burst dps, stealth and the highest mobility and still making you tanky as kitten. It’s nothing but logical that the moment you’re only building up your gear to kill your enemies as fast as possible you won’t be able to take alot of hits yourself either.

Oh and btw by saying that P/D isn’t a part of thief at all you seem to disunderstand the class aswell. However it’s not a very beloved part of the thief, you can’t just sweep it out of your mind and don’t care about it at all. When you’re suggesting anet to implement changes to give the thieves more surviveability you’re also implementing the fact that P/D will get an extra surviveability buff aswell.

well, yes maybe i was wrong in saying the word tanky, however whining about the choice of words is just simple minded. Like i explained the abilities the thief has to reduce the incoming amount of damage by evading/porting/stealthing completely takes away the fact that they have poor HP. Apart from that low HP pull it’s all about traiting, every1 who ever played a P/D thief knows that they have immense surviveability because of their traitline. It your own fault if you die if you want to be that guy who roles full zerker. Ever seen/played a zerker ele be4? that’s alot worse then thief (less armor, no stealth and less moveability) and therefore there aren’t alot of persons playing it.

when you complain about your surviveability just roll more defensive LTP by using your moveability+stealth+stuns and slowly work towards zerker again

Tbh it’s not even about the overall droprate, the main problem about all of this is just that the RNG is broken. Anet seems to have divided the Gw2 players into 3 groups, the lucky kittens, the normal ones and the trash can. I know i’ll definitely get some comments again like RNG is RNG, just accept it and stop whining. However any1 with a healthy mind understands that there is something wrong with the RNG if 1 person puts up to 2k rares+ and 200+ exo’s in the MF and doesn’t get anything back at all (like myself), while he just notices that a friend on ts just mentioned he had 3 precursors after 20 rare tries in the MF.

If the average amount to obtain the precursor is like 500 gambles to get a pre, (which would correspond towards the loot tables+price range) the chance on getting 3 or more precursors in 20 gambles=1-binomcdf(20,002,2)=0.00000889 chance=0.000889% chance, or i just witnessed something that only happens like 1 in the ~150.000 times, or this RNG is broken

I know it is possible for the “Trash canners”to farm your way up to get your legendary, however this still shouldn’t be needed if anet designed a decent RNG instead of this broken kitten. Also take into account that not every1 plays PvE so we don’t have the same income/day. For example back in the old times had to PvE to actually be able to buy sieges off the vendor to be able to do my main buiseness in gw2 (WvW), it was just costing me money. And even nowadays i’m already happy if i make 2g/hr.

might aswell give the tiefs a skill which makes him invulnerable for 10 minutes and give him wings in wvw so he can just fly in every tower.

Tbh i don’t know any class more tanky then the thief, you’ve got loads of shadowsteps, stuns, stealth and regen(if traited). You’re complaining about the fact that they lack surviveability, but the primary reason why they lack that surviveability is because you’re most likely going full beserker, what else do you expect then?

Also a permanent stealth button will cause nothing but trouble, since it will result in massive dungeonskipping and sneaking into enemy wvw keeps.

to be honest it’s a pretty well designed skill for the ele. The ele has the lowest HP+armor ingame and therefore is the squishiest character unless geared&traited up differently. Since the ele is naturally the squishiest character you can expect Anet to compensating them by doing either heavier damage or giving them a last backup. Since the damage of the ele isn’t superior to all the other classes they should be rewarded with a last backup.
It is still very well possible to keep an ele outside the tower by immobilizing him. It is a pretty good skill but not really OP

new tournament achievements are awful

To be honest i really don’t understand why Anet made this achievements so easy. Pre season 2 there were already alot of players complaining about the lacking amount of rewards in wvw. Anet implemented the season achievements and endchest to be more rewarding towards the wvw community. The second season achievements were already kinda easy to obtain, for example i can still remembering picking up my key 2 days after the start of the season. By reducing the required effort you need to put into wvw to get your achievements and the reward down to 5 events is just a punch in the face by anet to show us that they don’t give a kitten about us

I understand the basic thoughts about the new achievements to lure even the most hardcore pve’ers to wvw, however by giving away the same amount of rewards towards PvEérs who stay 5 minutes in wvw and hardcore wvw’ers who are putting a crapload of hours into wvw just doesn’t seem really logical.

Etiquette for the Commander Tag Colors

red tag for offensive commander? you can’t even see that one in a blob since enemy names are red aswell, yellow doesn’t grab alot of attention either @ grasslands so the
only 2 decent tags are purp & blue

Dungeon Rewards might be a little too good.

To be honest Maxite’s his post was’nt that bad. Due to the gold rewarded from dungeons the price level of for example legendaries skyrocketed. The amount of gold pumped in the Gw2 economy is much higher then the amount of gold that gets out of the game, logically resulting in higher prices which you can see now at the Legendary prices for example.

To the question wether dungeonruns earn to much cash for the work and time needed to finish the dungeon i’d also have to agree that dungeons provides more cash then for example PvP and WvW and that this is unfair.
Maxite points out the fact that the dungeons should provide less rewards, in my opinion however this isn’t really necessery. The current economy is already adapted at the high income from dungeonrunning. By removing this dungeon reward you will only create frustration because the casual players can’t get their legendary/ascended anymore

An Idea to tone down 2v1 and slow down KTrain

To be honest the mistake made in the WvW battle with the endless 2v1’ing is that the season is actually pushing the servers to dualpush. If the top server wants to stay on top, he’ll have to focus on his concurrent (the middle server), the bottom server doesn’t have any intention in winning the matchup, because the top server is just much stronger then their own server, so the best thing they can do is to go for 2nd place.

If everyone is just acting on a rational way, the top and down server should basically always attack the second place, which is in my opinion a fundamental misstake in this whole tournament.

To be honest the current combination between the RNG, the overall price of the legendaries and the cash/hr difference in spvp,pve and wvw is just totally out of balance.

The RNG suggests a fair chance for everyone to obtain good drops if you just play long enough, however in practice this didn’t work out very well. independent of the magic find you gatherup, it looks like you get an inherent magic find on your account, which results in seeing friends obtaining 3-4 precursors and several other rare drops while you are still struck at 0. (atleast tbh having ~3k playing hours and over 400g in mystic toilet should give atleast 1 precursor i suppose)

The overall price of the legendary
The legendaries cost a lot of cash at the moment, but there basically aren’t real ways to earn a lot gold/hr unless you want to promote exploiting/ dungeon running or TP flipping. The only way to earn real fast cash is just by grinding and dungeon runs, because the main promotion strategy of GW2 was to explain that gw2 differs from other MMO’s because it was a no-grinding gear, it looks very odd to me if gw2 wants to all their players to start grinding. Dungeon runs are to be honest for PvEérs only, which basically requires every player to play PvE if they want decent (looking) gear.

disbalance in Pve/PvP/WvW
The cash/hr in both pvp and wvw are very low compared to the PvE reward. The only real way to earn some real cash in WvW (not really experienced in PvP, so not going to argue without knowing all the details) is by not toggling any upgrades in towers/keeps and not tagging up as commander (and tbh both the upgrades and the commanders are exactly the thing what makes wvw beautiful).
Legendaries are meant to cost some work and give a reflection of your work in Gw2. nowadays they’re nothing more then expensive skins for Pve’ers which doesn’t even represent their skills and achievements in gw2 in any way.

They didn’t give a clear explanation what would be in this patch, however dulfy presented some leaked patchnotes. I understand that gw2 doesn’t need to bring out all those updates because dulfy announced it, however it would be very welcome if they just falsified dulfy’s patchnotes.

don’t really like zergs here either. Atm there are 2 types of open world bosses, those who require tactics and those who don’t. For the bosses that require tactics i prefer an instanced boss over an open world boss. It’s just frustrating if new players screw it up for the experienced players. By making instanced world bosses you provide 1. a maximum number of people (no more 100+ autoattacking @ tequatl) and 2. make sure that the persons you take with you in the dungeon can listen/understand what needs to be done.

A-net, feel free to make easy content for the casual/just starting players, but also give some attention to more hardcore gamers. by neglecting the hardcore gamers in gw2 only results in a kid friendly, easy playable, non challenging game like the latest expansions of WoW.

Hey, FSP commander over here (DDD)
To be honest most of our commanders do want to defend aswell. But defending in wvw is basically much more then a commander who is running around the map to defend the towers. You need permacappers, reports and people willing to upgrade the towers aswell. When people refuse to upgrade the towers, you won’t be able to hold the towers during primetime. In that case the best thing you can do is keep pressuring the enemys to distract them from stealing your towers. Also it’s most of the time better to switch your paper tower for an upgraded enemy tower.
