For me, it’s not even about whether or not we’re any less effective: it’s simply about how much ‘different’ this change feels. There’s magic in the accidents; and maybe the previous way of generating AF (while even at full health) was unintended, but, it allowed for such a more graceful and fluid experience — if it was an accident, it was a good accident! Well, I thought so at least. I hope it gets reverted…
Such a bummer, it felt so fluid before this!
I really enjoyed being able to go in and out of Celestial form too while out of combat. So fun and immersive, especially for RP.
And boy did I really enjoy being able to start encounters at full Astral — it just felt so right, like I was already this powerful Druid waiting to unleash — I was the Avatar!
This minor change is really a huge deal, for me at least. I was loving the Druid with the new AF generation changes, but this hits hard.
I was so stoked to get this sword: it was my favorite moment of HoT. But then to find out it was one handed, and didn’t have any of the particles effects was such a huge let down. This sword is a piece of Tyrian history, and one that I am intimately tied to — that being because I am the Pact Commander and all — and I would like to yield it. I hope we can somehow upgrade this sword to its Greatsword status, even if still broken, and get those particle effects that it had during the story.
Bummer
I had a feeling it would get nerfed, but dang did I like this without the cool down. It was the first thing about Rev. that wowed me.
Spirits must be innately mobile and without a time-based-lifespan.
This would enable me to meander through Tyria as a Spiritual Norn, teaching Guru Meditation to all those whom so desire to understand the True Nature of their Existence.
It is my belief that Tyrians will come to find peace in their lives only through Meditation and Self Realization. The nature of our existence goes so far beyond the Gods and Dragons; and if we are not drawing from that fundamental basis, then we will always be approaching our challenges in the night of ignorance.
Taking away the mobility of my Spirits essentially takes away the mobility of my teaching.
For it is through my Spirits that I am lead to those whom are capable of Hearing the Teaching.
Sure, my Spirits and I could live in a cave somewhere in the Shiverpeaks; but we’ve all seen what’s become of Blane ( the Insane). Would I really want to subject my aspirants to that? I don’t think so.
I therefor propose that it is for the Spiritual Betterment of all of Tyria that Spirits remain capable of mobility; indeed that Spirits are innately mobile, and without that time-based-lifespan ( time is so yesterday [ hehe ] ).
I also propose that all Rangers whom summon the maximum amount of Spirits at once ( 5 ) receive an Aura while doing so; thus, indicating that they are Teachers of the Way, for those with less than acute vision.
However, being resigned to the Mysterious Ways of Life, I wholly accept it if such is not the case. I aspire not to interfere with forces beyond my own will, but only to help spread a Message of Peace and Understanding.
— Sincerely, a Kind and Humble Spirit Ranger
I’d probably consider it if spirits stayed out without having to be re-summoned on a cool-down timer. Otherwise, no one with any common sense bothers with spirits anymore . . . unless they just love them like Tyler does.
No offense.
:D
I would find great delight if as a Druid I could use an Oakheart as a pet. This would be magical!
Personally, I just love being following by spirits. It feels so magical. I’d love to see some buffs or reworking of spirits, and I’d also find it enjoyable if Druid or other Spec could alter spirits in some manner.
But don’t listen to me xD
I’m just in it for the magic!
I don’t mind pets still being an active part of a Druid; but I could really appreciate being able to tame some Druid-like pets, such as Oakhearts and/or Arboreal Spirits. I just need mo’ Treants!
Personally, I really enjoyed FitG: I really liked playing a shroud bunker in sPvP, and this trait was one of my favorites. It’s really sad to see the nerf it’s taken

I’ve watched these videos multiple times, and have been watching them for quite some time. As someone who didn’t play GW1 I find them very enjoyable, informative, and entertaining!
I think it’s worth mentioning that even if the Xpac does seem to appeal more to veterans (which I’m not certain it does), that’s still a good thing for casuals too. This is because a big part of a game’s spirit that pervades its community comes from the love that veterans have for it. Nothing makes a veteran more happy than working diligently only to come back home and share the fruits of their labor with the community. However, a veteran needs a challenge to keep them around and inspire that hard work: if there’s no challenge, veterans begin to leave; if there’s no veterans, much of the fruit is left in the sun to wither away (or it simply becomes stale). And to further develop on the idea of community, GW2 is in ways primarily a community based experienced; and it is not wrong to think that a healthy community at times depends upon a healthy influx of new ideas. New content brings about the opportunity for players to apply themselves in new ways, and thus, to learn and share new ideas. And everyone benefits from new ideas, whether they be a casual or a hardcore veteran: this is because everyone is part of the community – and community is everything.
TL;DR: We expand for the betterment of the community!

Maybe toggle was the wrong choice of word (although I remember hearing it used?); but yes, they are, as Carlin informed, not permanent.
I really hope that when we toggle on our new Specialization, it also toggles on an armor/build template for that specialization. As someone who loves RP, being able to transforms into a new spec. with a new appearance in an instant would be so fulfilling!
Maybe my memory is a bit faulty, but wasn’t there some mention of armor/trait templates a while ago as something possibly in the works?
In regards to myself, Xenon is right: a lot of my opinions were furnished by an emotional desire to play primarily as a shape shifter. Interestingly enough though, as I’ve read these comments, I’ve began to lose interest in what I originally wanted out of shape shifting: that is, just playing is a werewolf or werebear. Instead, the idea of shedding our mortal skin and becoming some sort of ‘spirit being’ just seems too magical. I guess, now, I’m finding myself less inclined to experience what I have already experienced in other games, and instead interested in experiencing something fresh and new, and especially something in alignment with GW2 lore.
As to speaking of new mechanics, what if the mechanic for shape shifting was sort of based on Tyrian Druid lore – how it was kinda a one way ticket for them. What if there was a similar consequence in player based shape shifting, one that is sort of an opposite of a cooldown: like, once you shape shifted into a spirit, you couldn’t shape shift out of it for say like 10 seconds; however, once you shifted out, you could immediately shift back in if you wanted. That way, someone like myself could play as much as I wanted in a shifted form; however, I’d have to know that at certain moments it could mean doom, as there is no going back once I’ve made that choice (for at least a short while). Something like that could provide some weight to the experience of shape shifting, adding in a nice risk factor that really puts an emphasis on the experience. The risk factor, though, would arise by what it meant to be locked in the form; and that would depend upon what it meant to be shifted – new utilities? new moves? idk!

I like what Caeledh said, and I had some similar feelings while reading this thread. Personally, I wouldn’t want to see shape shifting as it was done in WoW.
And it is worth considering, as SorionHex mentioned, that animal shape shifting is a big part of being a Norn.
Now that I’ve thought about it more these last few days, I’d actually prefer to see shape shifting exist not as something akin to Norn Lore, but rather something that’s in alignment with Tyrian Druid Lore: maybe Druids, or a future Ranger spec., could have a new class mechanic that allows them to transform into an Oak Heart (treant) in a fashion similar to Deathshroud. I could see that being quite a magical experience
I’m in agreement with a few others posters in this thread: for me, playing a Druid in games has always been about how much a nature-based class/profession enables me to role play, even if only with myself. The heart of my imaginative self is a Druid, and it so happens that it’s a shape shifting druid. This is obviously influenced by my time in Diablo 2, and WoW.
Once I heard that the new Spec. for Ranger was a Druid, I knew I had to make a Norn Ranger, strictly for their Shape Shifting Racials(in order to complete my RPable toon). I don’t know if we’ll see shape shifting outside of Norn Racials, but ohhhhhh mannnnnn! would I like to see some!
I wouldn’t mind at all if shape shifting was a mechanic similar or even identical to Ele and Engi (though I’d prefer Ele); it’d offer a new way to play a class that for years hasn’t been able to be played such a way. That’d be fun for me.
All the Norn shape shifters are Shamans – maybe down the road a Shaman Spec. will be available, and somehow learning it could be tied to Norn Lore, available to all races. It’d be a fun way too to have cross cultural play in Tyria.
Who knows what will happen; so long as the Druid is even more nature-based then I’ll be pretty happy.
I was in a similar attitude when they were released, Lindelle: I liked them but for whatever reason didn’t purchase them. Maybe I’ll log on one of these days to find them on sale also n_n
They are especially redic. on Charr, I didn’t realize. My norn /kneel[s] in prayer to the Spirits, and the Gods, that they will make a return.
That’s a bummer that they weren’t available for Wintersday 2014. I’ve seen the Grenth hood come back a few times, so I figured it would be the same case with this helm too. No Norn or Charr should be deprived of such commanding antlers!
Thanks for the response, Jordo. Though I do like that helm, I find the Stag to much more ‘earthly’; plus, I’m not a Plate class, so I can’t wear heavy armor >.<
Some day I will have my antlers!
:D Such is the nature of my inspiration too!
Has the Stag helm been on sale at all recently? It’s such a great headpiece for a Norn, and I’m trying to gauge if the possibility of being able to purchase it again is something I’ll have to wait quite some time for. Thanks! n_n

I’m not in favor of the new dailies only because I probably wont complete them anymore. I hardly ever attempted to do my dailies; it would pretty much complete it self while I played. It was a nice incentive to just log in and play for an hour, even if I was only grinding in one zone like Silverwastes. Slowly I’d watch myself accumulate AP (slowly working towards Radiant Armor Pieces), and I’d slowly watch my laurels build up (which eventually I would turn into T6 crafting mats for my legendary). So yeah, seeing as how it’s not as passive, and how I never really attempted to do them to begin with, I have to accept I’ll rarely, if ever, do dailies so long as they remain the same. I think it could been to have the previous system and the new with a rework to the daily AP cap, thus catering to both play styles of those who play like me, and those who don’t want to grind out all ten or do them so passively.
Anyhow, such is the nature of change; on a side note, I am in agreement with the daily logging in system – it kinda makes up for what I’m losing out on.
Been waiting so long for a response on this.
This is good news! One day my necro will finally get his set.
Thanks for the input Wanze. That’s actually a really interesting idea that I didn’t consider. However, if I did that, I’d essentially be selling a world completion and a million karma. Both of these aren’t things I farm or acquire regularly; whereas I come by gold much easier. It’s certainly an alternative thought that enables me to save a goodly portion of gold, while still crafting Sunrise thought. Thanks again for the input.
Being a big fan of the Zephyrites and their way of life, I for one would enjoy having a ‘Master of Sun’ title so much; and I imagine some others could enjoy a ‘Master of Wind’ or ‘Master of Lighting.’
Oh, just imagine if we could become honorary Zephyrite masters!
Or, imagine having a mini ‘Master of Sun/Wind/Lightning’?
Or, especially for me, a mini Zephyr Sanctum, floating around you –
Or, my dream, a mini Aspect Crystal!
I just enjoy the Zephyrites so much –
C’mon, Enlightened Airship Nomads???
This is like my dream lore!
Does anyone else share this fancy of mine?
I secretly pretend my main is a Zephyrite n_n
I created a Gift of Twilight some time ago, and now I am no longer interested in creating Twilight; my heart now lies, and has for some time, with Sunrise.
I’m considering just moving forward and making Sunrise, and losing out on the gold I spent for Gift of Twilight. It’s a big loss in gold since I can’t trade or or break it down, but such is life sometimes; and because I don’t have a precursor yet, I don’t feel too restricted to having to finish Twilight.
I have considered moving forward with Twilight, however, since I have the Gift already, with the intentions of selling Twilight to buy Sunrise. But, the joy I find in the process of crafting a legendary comes from the personal experience – there’s a feeling that ‘this’ legendary is mine, I brought it into Tyria, I forged it with my own hands! I’m fairly certain this feeling would not be there if I went forward and made Twilight, and then sold it for a Sunrise. There’d still be a big sense of personal accomplishment, but not the same.
I’m pretty certain I may just work towards Sunrise, since I want the personal experience of crafting it, then equipping what I crafted; but, I’d really like to here what some others have to say on this particular matter.
Any input or advice would be very appreciated.
Thanks!
… Sanctum Sprinter
no doubt about, most coveted, dishonorable, and illustrious title that exists. sure, it wasn’t too hard to get; but it came with a cost. you couldn’t get it by just playing well: you had to play dirty too! you had to zap fools in the air, and leave obstacles between tight places, knocking your fellow racers to a momentary doom! and to learn these mischievous tricks, well, one had to be humbled by falling for them them self. it was a dirty little game… but it was worth it.
plus, anything that has to do with Zephyrites is just better than anything else; and with the Zephyr sanctum being demolished, this here title is a token of a time that once was, but sadly – oh so sadly! – no longer is.
Sanctum Sprinter, baby.
ain’t no way chu gone get betta den dat. mmm mhmph!
gosh, i just want to chime in here and say how much i’m enjoying the music lately. it’s so rich with feeling. this chapter of the ls moved me, and i couldn’t help but just laugh with pure joy; this was not the least because of the music. thanks anet
yup. same feelings here. many screens. loved it!
thanks so much, I really appreciate the advice
Are they (exotic celestial armors) soul bound upon crafting?
I have armor smithing on one toon only, so I’m curious if I need to level it up on another.
Thanks for any help!
I’m nearly finished with the process of making Mawdrey, and It’s been some of the most fun I’ve had in GW2. It truly felt immersive and meaningful, like an epic adventure.
The only thing that bums me out though is that I have nothing other than my memories to remind me of the journey. I genuinely enjoy scrolling over the components, looking over their pictures, and reading the little bits of lore; and yet, it saddens me that these will all disappear when I complete my Mawdrey.
Seeing as how scavenger hunts are by nature immersive, what if Anet introduced little journals, sort of like the Personal Story chapters, that detailed the process we had to go through to acquire components. I’d love to see those old thumbnail images of the components, and to be able to read the lore once again of each item.
I could see this especially being something myself and others could enjoy as new scavenger hunt items are introduced, such as precursors.
If this is a serious direction Anet plans to go with new items and immersion, then a little tab in the Hero Panel could be quite enjoyable and helpful to guide and record the experiences.
Anywho, this is just an old immersion junky’s 2 cents.
My Humble 2 cents:
I acquired almost everything to make Mawdrey; now I’m just in need of some gold to buy some foxfires, and whatnot. For me, it was actually a lot of fun making it. It even felt like a little bit of an epic adventure, and I was proud to have acquired all the pieces.
A few reason I enjoyed it:
1. Having played since beta, I’ve still never gotten world completion; so thus, Mawdrey was the reason I went into places like the volcano in Mount Maesltrom for the first time, and did the world event there. I can understand how this wouldn’t be too exciting for someone whose done this many times before; but for me, it felt like a true adventure having to go there and defeat the world boss with all the other players. Also, I’d never been to those hidden garden jumping puzzles. Discovering those was pretty enchanting for me. Having not done this stuff before, these things were pretty meaningful to me, and those memories will be tied to my Mawdrey for as long as I play. In my opinion, this was a great way for Anet to get players like me into the world who might not have explored much before.
2. I also really enjoyed having to travel around the world and upgrade the basic components. It brought me back to places I hadn’t been in quite a while, such as areas in Frostgorge Sound. Going there with a reason and a purpose brought new meaning to the zone, and it really helped with a renewed sense of immersion that I could appreciate.
3. I totally enjoyed how acquiring the basic components was involved with the Living Story. It only further gives meaning to the skin by tying it to a piece of Tyrian history.
4. Time gating: It gave me something that I could casually work towards, and that once again brought meaning to the gameplay for me again.
5. Silly, I know, but I really enjoy how many pieces go into making Mawdrey. Seeing them all sitting in my inventory just makes me smile. It’s like, wow, look at all these things I’ve gathered! It’s my little bag of charms! Plus, I really enjoy the artwork of the items too. The Ley Line Infused Stone just looks too cool. I also really appreciate the little tidbits written about each component. Idk, more immersion for me I suppose.
This wont be the same experience for everyone, but for me it was really an immersive experience. It’s actually felt like an epic journey since I’ve been working in Mawdrey. It gave me hope too that Anet is moving in a direction of immersion that I’m really in agreement with. If they introduce more stuff into the game through this platform, I can see myself really enjoying it.
To the OP, I’m sorry you don’t like the skin, or enjoy the process. Maybe from a new angle you could learn to appreciate it though?
The only thing I wish different about the process was that we got to keep a little journal at the end, detailing all the things we did, with pictures of the basic components, and the tidbits that were written about them. Seriously makes me sad all this stuff is going to disappear when I complete Mawdrey.
Why not just delete Guild Wars 2 instead?
It is much more faster to do so than implementing this nonsense.
:(
Hmm…

I’d really like to see this set available again.
I got to rank 30, which took me quite a while, and I obtained a piece of it; but alas, I was not aware that the set would become unavailable eventually – even though there was fair warning – and now I cry every night seeing this incomplete set in my wardrobe…
I’m very happy with these changes.
I’d be very pleased to see it added back as a reward track.
There’s a few pieces of that set that just completes some really great outfits for my necro.
Even though getting to rank 30 was quite a grind (for me at least) in the first place, I’d still happily complete a reward track.
Has there ever been any official response on this set of armor no longer being available?
I have one piece of the set, but I would really like a few others.
I only have the set partially completed.
Sadly, I don’t have the footwear, the only piece I seriously want.
I hope we see it obtainable in the game again someday; if even it requires sPvP rank 30.
Would bring me such joy to complete my Tribal set… I have faith that one day I’ll will be available again.
I would LOVE to have this armor obtainable some way. Currently I only have the pants… I feel so incomplete.
Seeing as how a Necro is meant to not run away and instead hold its ground, something like shade seems like a really enabling factor allowing the Necro to hold its ground. I do like playing a tank Necro, so I really enjoy taking Foot in the Grave; and there are time’s where I’m going in and out of DS as much as I can, and even times while I stay in it for quite a while. Foot in the Grave is one of my fav traits; it really is just long enough for me to use it how I like with a lil added Boon During; but I wouldn’t mind having a bit more time of Stability.
Also, during beta I played Guardian, and not once a Necro. I’ve heard stories of beta Necros, but only small pieces; can anyone explain to me how Necro really was in beta? I’d love to hear!
Oh, I should have been more specific. I wasn’t referring to stuns and knock backs/down; I mean’t the condition Immobilize and maybe also cripple.
Shade seems great, but I usually take Foot in the Grave if I build into Soul Reaping; however those three seconds of stability quickly run out.
I wouldn’t mind seeing an Immob breaking trait for DS though, that isn’t a limited time.
What if this was a natural ability of going into DS: it breaks movement impairing effects.
It would allow us a bit more mobility in a fight; but would it be too powerful?
I’m really curious to hear a few responses!
- Thanks!
Anything think it would be fun to have quest, chain quest, and scavenger hunt quest, in the orders; maybe they even increase one’s rank (providing a title or a skin) doing them?
To me, I see so much potential in the orders.
Having such quest would not only allow one the opportunity to feel more a part of their respective order, but it could also help players identify the order and bond with other members, that is, as they do order specific quest with members of the order.
This could be a great way for lore to be casually put into the game, and provide more end game content.
Often I feel this game lacks a little love for the natural solo player and loners out there – this could be a nice opportunity to give them some objectives they could complete alone on their own time.
There could also be the possibility of allowing one the opportunity to complete a time gated quest chain that eventually allows them to leave their respective order and join another one – this, I imagine, could be something only allowed once one has complete their personal story.
Just to share a fun idea: First reward for the first order quest – Order Stomp Banners!! Or, Order Rank Banners that could be used in place of the PvP Rank Banners
What do ya all think? Anyone like these ideas?
