It doesn’t appear that the #6 rune works underwater but shows back up when on land.

Might stacking via Reaper’s Mights is old news. If you want to do it quickly and maintain the stacks, I’d recommend sigils/rune of strength + high crit chance. It’s a little one dimensional, but everyone likes to see those high damage numbers. I actually had 2 runes of strength equipped from before the 4/15 patch so I grabbed 4 more for kittens and giggles. Haven’t messed around with it too much in PVP, but can only assume that the extra %7 from the rune of strength is decent enough.

I recently rolled and elementalist and wanted to get some player feedback as to what to expect with the class.
On paper,it looks great. I even tested some high level builds in the mists and, so far, the end game builds look really fun.
However, its seem in practice this class doesn’t allow for a lot of solo play which I am really into.
Comparatively, to say, warrior, necro, or guardian, lower level game play seems to be isolated to trash mobs, because even veteran fights are laborious.
Granted, this could be due to the April 15th changes to trait points, and I may just not have the rotations down as well as I should.
In the example of the the Franklin Quickblade skill point; seems to be kitten near impossible even at level 27, while on the flip side I can meticulously execute an
entire cadre of bandits with severe prejudice.
Is this what I should expect until level X? Is there a specific attunement which ele’s should focus on for say doing solo champion fights (which I love to do) ?
Are there utilities that just not viable until level 80?

No build to post, since I don’t have any trait points yet, but at this time I am using dagger/focus with signet of restoration, arcane wave, signet of fire, and glyph of storms.

I’ll have to test this out on some mobs that actually stun or knock back to be sure, but I don’t think there is an ICD so any stun break takes full advantage of Rousing Resilience.

Shrug it off/Shake it off. I’m running Dolyak’s Signet as well. You can also pick up stun break through various other defense line traits and/or stances thrown in.

With how banal most PVE content is, you can pretty much use anything as an off-weapon for funsies. If you know how to dodge roll or block, the extra damage from might and burning is worth it IMO.

Plus, you can use a longbow as your other weapon with a sigil of battle then combo field the F1 + LB #3 ablity + signet of rage. I tested this out yesterday and pretty much perma-stacked 25 might.

Does that mean %5 life force every 3 seconds, or %5 for every condition drawn?

In the case of the latter; 5 conditions drawn every 3 seconds for %25 life force. If this is not capped at 5 then d’-‘b
But the potential to bounce conditions between two or three necro’s sounds gross in theory.

Hmmm….

Seems like this would be never ending life force once a few conditions got applied to someone.

Whoops, you’re right. Looking at about 246 healing for a whole stack of 25 bleeds on a single target fully decked out for condition damage.

Am I reading this right? If you stack 25 bleeds on a target we’re looking at about 1230 healing per second when fully decked out for condition damage? Not to mention possibly spreading that to an additional 4 targets…

Has anyone tried this out yet?
With the reduced signet trait and signets ranging from 16 to 48 second cool down; seems like you could have some decent mitigation along with reduced conditions or condition clearing just alternating between signet of rage and signet of stamina.

Hi everyone,
Started playing a warrior a short while ago after taking a break from necromancer.
So far I really dig it; the trait lines synergize really well, and I love how many possibilities for builds the class offers.

I played around a little in PVP using H – A/M. It went fairly well, but I’ve noticed that the hammer burst really loses some oomph with a few guardians around who pop aegis and I’m getting ruined by thieves once in a while.

Wondering if an interrupt build might be worth trying, or are shouts the way to roll for condition clearing?

I don’t do too many fractals myself, but from what I hear, the name of the game is damage in groups, so the first link you posted is ideal. For group support you can also spec into wells for ground targeting to clear conditions, or do AOE blind etc. Again, not the expert on fractals, so you might want to wait until someone responds specifically about them.

Yeah…some of these are a bit much I think.
Most of the survivability headaches could be resolved by allowing healing in DS and buffing Reaper’s Precision. But I play a power necro, so I’m a bit biased.
Dark Path should be a teleport akin to Ride the Lightning, I agree there.

Quick question regarding debility versus condition damage in WvW:
As far as team support and debuffing a zerg, has anyone found any benefit to spreading immobilize, chill and weakness in large competitive play?

I came up with a preliminary build to push immobilize and chill every 20 seconds, and dropped the corruption utility cool down. I think it may be total garbage for any solo play, but may be a nice way to cripple zergs.

I’ve been messing around with numbers on the builder and wondering if specing into death magic for dark armor and deadly strength is a good idea to supplement damage instead of going into spite. Each channel (in this case Life Blast) give you 650 toughness, part of which converts to power with each attack. I’ve only tested it out in PVE and was pretty happy with it, but haven’t done anything besides veteran zergs and a few champion fights.
Anyone else tried this out or crunched the numbers ?

Yea that’s a pretty good build. I played it some tonight. Why that runeset though?

I tried to maximize stability for stomping purposes. With Lyssa, you get it when you summon the flesh golem and when you have him charge. Crit chance is paramount too, so taking runes that gave bonuses to both seemed like a good option.

According to the wiki, you’re not supposed to take health damage in DS -

While in Death Shroud, the necromancer’s health is temporarily replaced by their life force pool, and all damage dealt will be inflicted to the life force pool instead of the necromancer’s normal health pool.

But to add to the main argument; it’s the mechanic which is impacted by vitality, the attribute modified by our blood magic trait line which has the majority of siphon traits. Seems like logic would dictate that the two would go hand in hand.

I’d like to first preface this topic with: Wow, this forum has the WORST search options ever, so sorry if this has already been posted.

Mostly on the topic of build variety, I wanted to discuss death shroud.

Death Shroud is an interesting mitigation mechanic. In the broad scope of class defenses, I think overall, its pretty good. You have an extra health bar to soak up some damage and do a little DPS, healing, CC, whatever. I do however think it’s absolutely criminal that you have so many traits that no longer function which utilizing DS.

Example: Parasitic bond, vampiric, vampiric precision, last grasp, vampiric rituals and all other health related traits are invalidated when entering DS.

While there are certainly arguments to be made for balance, it seems like all a death shroud enhancement would make power necro’s viable. DPS would drop since you would likely spec into blood for some extra health and healing so the trade off seems like it would create variety. I haven’t crunched the numbers, but with life siphon the way it is, the health gain wouldn’t be extreme. The only caveat I can think of at the moment is group healing impacting your health while in DS, or even well of blood if dropped before hand.

I played around with this a little today. It’s pretty good IMO.
Having 5 jagged horrors up in a fight is nice, it’s extra DPS and procs death nova not to mention health siphon if speced that way. Is anyone using transfusion to keep these guys up longer? Is it worth it even: more potential jagged horrors + utility minions for more damage/toughness/siphon etc, or let the little buggers die for the nova?

PS: What is your opinion on weakness versus protection? I was shooting for damage mitigation via glancing blows and trying to do big group heals via transfusion more frequently.

I toyed around with a transfusion build in sPVP the other day, and it was pretty good. Sadly, it look like transfusion primarily targets minions, but heals for a TON (1500+ per hit from what I recall) Wondering if just a well/transfusion and weakness build would be viable for dungeons? I’ve been running a power/might build which I like, but considering just doing support for a little while.

Necromancer class suggestion

I’ve noticed that there are great ways to optimize this class monopolize on damage, conditions, even health steal. However, it seems like minions and minion associated traits are a bit lacking.
There should be a grand-master level trait that ups the health, slows the health loss, or lowers the cool down of the summoning of jagged horrors so that you can have more than one active at a time. That way minion master necros can actually be competitive in pvp, wvw, dungeons etc.

I’m probably alone on this, but I absolutely despise crafting. Just hate it.
There is nothing exciting about pulling out a mining pick or small pruning knife to harvest some carrots in the the middle of the northern, desolate, monster laden tundra.
Like carrots would even grow there!!!

Anyway…
How’s about a tradesman profession that rewards the adventurer with extra cash per drop, or a better gem exchange rate or something along those lines.?
I just think that the whole process of farming materials is a god awful way to eat up your gaming experience. And I have yet to see a game that makes crafting actually exciting.

Speced into this earlier today to use with ghastly claws.
I have a starting toughness of 276, while channeling it jumps to 456, but the trait says you gain 400 toughness. Can anyone explain why I’m getting less than a +200 boost from the trait ?
