some people don’t seem to understand why people are mad at what the dev did. interrupting the gvg isn’t against any rules, it may make you a kitten, but he has the same right to do it as gvgers have the right to gvg.

it’s the fact that when people got aggressive towards him telling him to stop ruining the gvg, he popped up his ANET tag as if it should mean something. i expected this sort of behavior out in the playground, “my dad can beat up your dad” and other similar kitten waving.

this should have just been another random pubbie trolling a gvg, it’s old news, nobody had to know, but no, today we finally see what kind of people are under the employ of anet.

Did phantasmal zerker get fixed this patch?

The 4 hits do not always happen if the IZerker is far away from the target it might only get 1 strike in because the animation generates 4 attacks. Saying it only hit a static target 3 times doesn’t really tell the whole story. Hundred blades or whirrlwind on great sword are similar. Each attack has a size and facing and timing and those things determine if a hit occurs.

except the phantasm always spawns in melee range, so the max distance the target can travel from being in melee range is the .25s delay of the phantasm’s attack, excluding the target blinking or using some other movement skill.

this means attacks against a stationary target should always hit 4 times, which has been the case before the this bug appeared.

why can’t you just fix this issue by copying the code used for whirlwind attack from warriors? that skill reliably hits 4 times if you start within melee range.

you know what the real solution to this bloodlust buff is?

make the bloodlust buff npc champs, siege damage, gate/wall hp and defenses for the server that holds the points.

this way, people that care about wvw points will have a reason to take and hold the points, without causing an imbalance of stats.

I guess CD just don’t understand what it takes to be a maguuman, so please don’t xfer over here because you guys will qq about how we play.

You’re right, we don’t know how to be Maguuman. We can’t comprehend getting rolled so hard, then still claiming we’re better.

Also, I had a 1v3, then a 1v4 against the supposed elite maguuman small force pvpers. I figured I stood no chance, being my zerg wasn’t with me. I mean, Crystal Desert players are nothing without the zerg, right? But I won both encounters! So weird. I guess this means, since I fought, collectively, seven people, that you’re whole entire server is actually awful.

Furthermore, during your successful capture of SMC, which did seem to catch us off guard, as well as EBay coming in from the other side at the same time, I got 31 badges off the impregnable maguumans. without being downed once, and getting away to boot.

So, with that said, and most of this thread going to shambles (admittedly, this post is no different than most in here, and apologize for that, but I could only read so much blowhard before responding) I, sir/madam, along with what i’d think would be the vast majority/all of our, Crystal Desert, server are proud of not being maguuman. Mainly, and this is just speculation, because we like to, you know, win. Something you guys just haven’t added to your superior tactics, yet.

heres how this game works, 90% of players in wvw are bads. the rest are good at pvp. these 10% will always destroy even numbers, and more often then not, more numbers.

however because CD simply has more people, it means the chances of the 10% from mag meeting the bads on CD is going to happen more often. this is where the claims of the skillless CD comes from.

its not saying everyone from CD is bad, its just a sampling bias.

it’s not a bad thing for everyone. it’s ONLY a bad thing if the ‘locked in’ matches are imbalanced. anet and wvw players would much rather have balanced matches, but against the same servers, rather than one sided stomps against different servers every week.

it is bad with a system incapable of generating balanced matches.

such as the one we are using (i think, open to correction).

its not the system that’s incapable of generating balanced matches, its the fact that there aren’t an even number of well matched servers. for example, there are 7 T1 servers populating T1-2. any one of those servers will be a good match for any other, which always will leave 1 T1 server to dominate T3. there is NO system that would solve this issue.

similar problems exist in lower tiers. this new proposed system would not give balanced matches anymore than the current.

Make it so that Mantra recharges 1 charge per 20 seconds. I often find myself on only 1x stack of Mantra left so I have to use it and wait for it to cool down to reapply to 3x stacks. Very inefficient.

heres a suggestion, when you need upwards of over 10 arrowcarts to siege creep on the offensive in that garrison, and still wiping repeatedly against even and sometimes less numbers, you’re doing something wrong.

you’re not utilizing your numbers correctly and relying too much on carts.

Just going to quote myself here because I am so awesome and what I say generally applies to more than one situation…..

Every enemy is counted twice, and no one sees their allies standing behind them.

I am always outnumbered.

I’d also like to add that every enemy arrowcart is counted at least twice.

At no point during that battle did I see more than 5 arrow carts in any one area, on TC’s side, that is. Magumma had at least as many arrowcarts and ballistas and players in that fight.

Anyone who has been in a garrison fight such as that (and has any sense of perspective) knows that the advantage is massively in favor of the defense. Which is why your server waited until we were all so bored that no one was even on the map then brought their full map zerg and as many golems as possible to take it in the first place. Not that it’s a bad strategy, and I don’t fault anyone for wanting easy points. In fact we used the same strategy to take it back and it worked quite well, except we didn’t need any golems, and it only took us about 10 people to walk in and mop up the last of your stragglers after the main force got bored or whatever.

It would be cool if magumma would bring the kind of numbers they obviously can for anything other than a karma train or farming opportunity, but it is what it is and snowballs are wagons and all.

lol i know exactly how many mag had there, it was a full queue zerg, probably around 60. but were supply starved for most of the fight.

the brain dead karma train wasted all their supply and build like 4 carts all in one spot at the very beginning of the defense, but they got trebbed down quickly. then managed to scrap together 2-3 more at various times throughout the defense from people dying, respawning and running back with supply. they too were killed from 20 man suicide pushes of TC.

TC had minimum 5 carts up on the NW bridge alone. there was a treb, and atleast 2 balistas, 3 carts up across the main courtyard.

then when they failed to break in even with all the walls down at inner, they made 2-3 more carts on top of the battlements on the inner.

this like how in tf2, engineers on offense build a sentry farm to defend their spawn. its an amateur move. you dont push with static defense, you push with good positioning and build comps.

So when are you going to fix...

they also need to fix how extremely buggy uneven terrain is for ranged attacks and LoS. i’m sure this complaint extends to other ranged classes, but over half of mesmers skills (illusion summoning skills) flat out don’t work if you try to cast it on someone that isn’t standing in the same plane as you.

this patch has made all the things wrong and unfixed about mesmers since release day that much more apparent, by limiting viable mesmer builds even further.

GS direct damage build is out

mantra build is counter-intuitive and counter-game design, don’t use half your given skills because you can do more damage that way.. what?

scepter #1 skill is a joke, and #3 is unreliable

so what are we left with, no ranged options except for a condition damage build centered around staff.

oh and sword/sword/pistol/focus build, where we have to put ourselves into melee range to do ANYTHING as a light class.

yeah i’m kittening heated, this is kittening ridiculous.

I don’t see the problem with the employee’s behavior. GvG guys were being rude jerks and their attitude and words would have been reportable.

If the GvG folks had been polite, I might have a different opinion, but they weren’t. They started out being kittens and the employee was right in flipping his tag and calling them out.

did you not watch the video? he was asked multiple times politely, only when he ignored/refused to move, did kitten hit the fan.

assuming minimal population shifts, the goal of the rating system is to eventually settle down into the same matchup forever. this gives the most balanced matches score-wise. a close match makes for a good match.

this is the intended goal. the eventual freezing of ranks is a GOOD thing. it means you will have meaningful matches every week. who cares if its the same 2 servers, if the matchup is competitive and all 3 servers have a good chance of winning? the rankings aren’t there for you to be #1 in T1, its there to setup a bracket in terms of population so you can eventually get matched with a similarly populated server, so you can have close matches.

with your system, you’ll have 2 new opponents every single week, with many imbalanced matches. because every tier except the first and last will have 2 servers seperated by 2 tiers. a T2 server drops to T3, and a T4 server goes up to T3. you have the T2 server dominating both, rinse and repeat next week, where another T2 server drops and another T4 server rises. one sided matchups is not fun.

in PvP it is a delay tactic at best. Anet seems to think they need to point out the real mesmer to enemy and ally so the clone is pointless. and even if they didnt point it out with a giant red triangle we are always the second one to appear. Even after using it sometimes though the people will still get the stomp off for some reason.

so are all other classes downed states, except it’s guaranteed to delay the first stomp unlike most other classes.

and whats wrong with the arrow pointing out the real mesmer? treat the clone as a source of damage instead of a distraction, only thieves come near our downed state damage.

and people that still get stomped after using #2 are bad at the game. it’s literally impossible to get stomped on the first attempt after using #2.

I like to think that that statement was said independently by one of the WvW guys and not the Living Story team.

But if they do it a third time then I’ll be forced to agree that the don’t know what they’re doing.

They know perfectly well what they are doing. They have that map, completely unique in itself since it’s a pure PvP roaming map at the core, they need to put rewards inside to attract people and make use of it but not something too rewarding so that you don’t really need it.

So they put something desirable but optional in it, say, and achievement. And it works, there’s life in the map at last and it’s some fun PvP and it’s still optional.

And there’s still some QQ but they know it’d happen. See, their desires are at odds with the OCD PvP haters in there. No matter what desirable thing they put inside, some OCD PvP hater will want it and will QQ. The only solution for that QQ problem is to not put anything of value inside at all, ie abandoning the map and the concept. They might as well close the place in fact.

Here’s the problem. The people that are drawn in there with the rewards they are offering are, for the most part, the kind of player that does not care for PvP.

That causes a bunch of people to join in the map for the achievement. Unfortunately, they don’t have the WvW/PvP experience or builds. So most of them are just fodder for the experienced WvWers. Most good WvW players realize this and let them past. The other ones take advantage of the situation for ‘free kills’ and basically make those players lose any future interest in touching WvW again.

If the intent is to get more people interested, it has failed. If the intent is to provide ‘free badges’ to WvW players, then I’ve lost all respect for a company which I have championed since GW1 was in beta.

And don’t confuse the completionists with ‘PvP haters’. Some are both, yes. Some just don’t care for PvP. That isn’t hate. It’s just aversion.

Also, not all complaining is QQing. And to state that it is is just plain insulting.

you’re not entitled to get all the achievements. classic gamer entitlement. if you want the achievement in the puzzle, you either learn how to pvp, get friends to carry you through it. or leave and come back later when its empty.

just because someone hates pvp/wvw doesn’t mean they should be allowed to get a pvp/wvw achievement for free.

if you loathe pvp so much, then you just have to live with the fact that you will never get this particular achievement.

Except one-sided matchups will be the norm. Ask T8.

Glicko will freeze everyone in their current position, eventually. If in T4 green constantly does twice as many points as red+blue, and every week the results are the same, in a couple years their ratings won’t shift one point; despite it being a very imbalanced setup. If the intended goal is to freeze the ladder into whatever (usually bad) form it has at the moment, Glicko works perfectly.

With my system, you will NOT have two different opponents every single week because it’s not straight WULD. How many times do I have to repeat it?

except the current rankings aren’t balanced yet. so they won’t freeze where they are now. the system is self correcting over time. any imbalances will iron itself out. in the ideal case, the end result is all tiers have close matches, and their ratings don’t change. this is when you have balance.

Found another bug… Illusionary Whaler? (Trident Phantasm) deals damage like a clone (around 20 while my other water phantasm deals 1.4k++) >_<

thats not a bug, it does 8 stacks of bleed instead of direct damage.

The system need be self sufficient and adaptable. The main issue with Glicko is that it’s goal is lock people into Tiers, which by it’s design is trying to stagnate the matches, which is a bad thing for everyone involved and the game as a whole.

so if we had so many server transfers… why the staunch disagreement with resetting the numbers? if we’re going to be stuck with glicko for the time being, why NOT reset us all back to 0? we sure aren’t where we started, and Glicko is meant to deal with individuals, not groups. individuals don’t change that much. we’ve skewed the numbers all out of whack by now.

SO WHAT we’ll have a few weeks of odd matches and blowouts while the rating math figures out where we’re better suited… that would honestly be a huge improvement over what we have now.

it would be a decent short-term fix to give Anet time to work on a different formula better suited to calculating matchups… because i glicko ain’t it.

resetting ratings would cause ATLEAST a month of one sided matches since low tier servers like SF would jump to T1. then what, after that month, after servers return to their respective tiers, you would have a very similar looking picture. the servers would settle back to what they are now. a reset does nothing, other than to provide over a month of boring wvw.

I guess we made legion public lol , in that case maguuma is coming together as u said before. TTK and GOA are gateways for players of all skill levels to be trained and geared up for world vs world. We believe and want smaller guilds to take part of our guilds so we continue to bring maguuma together. Our guilds come to a BL and do serious damage because we play as a team with everyone. This is part of the reason of maguuma lead. Not because we had 2 new guilds join us . Yes we understand that some of the servers have lost members but is the hard effort of both legion and the public mumble that we are doing so good this tier. Great job everyone , keep it up and let’s not get chocky.

i understand and appreciate when your guild has done. you train baddies good wvw habits and general tactical knowledge. this is great, however this only lets you run in zergs effectively.

the one thing many players lack in general is how to handle themselves in small scale fights, i’ve seen so many people just refuse to engage a small fight, and run to the nearest zerg instead. doing this means those players can’t carry their own weight in the zerg, and leads to situations where zergs of 20 are kited, choked and eventually wiped by 6-7 more skillful players.

i dont really know how to get the new players to not suck, but always running in zergs isn’t going to help them get better.

half the things on your list isnt a bug, its by design.

everything you listed with the reason “Sometimes this skill does not work when the target is on the outer edges of the frontal Cone or when flanking a target.”

is not a bug. it sometimes misses because the skill is a projectile, therefore it has a travel time. if you move out of the way of the projectile, then it wont hit. this is similar to how you can sidestep a ranger’s longbow shots without dodging.

this is not a game bug.

mobile strikes is not a bug, it removes any immobilize you have on you when you use the leap skill, but unless that leap skill is an evade (whirlwind is the only one iirc) you will still be susceptible to immob during the leap.

shield stance blocks ALL attacks, unless that attack is unblockable. it’s working as intended. you don’t know what you’re talking about for this one.

counter blow is not the bugged skill, riposte is the bugged skill. both skills are only intended to block a SINGLE ATTACK.

the only REAL bugs are rush and bulls charge not hitting, as well as terrain bugs with earthshaker. and not updating stats on the character sheet, but that’s a minor bug.

I had fun fighting AoN tonight in water camp in SoS bl. Even if the commander wanted to abandon the camp (and did, never came back to try and save it after he left). Either way it was clear the goal was to get fights and not to cap the camp, and we had some fun figuring out how to fight the group.

That rifle/greatsword warrior hurt like a mother kitten.

the key is to use your eyes and press the correct buttons when you see him do something.
