Is anyone saying that in order to have a community-based endeavours, guilds can no longer launch their own guild initiatives? That doesn’t make any sense at all.

It stems from a particular case of community collaboration that happened in the past, related to the “speedclear community”. The people who were apart of it may understand where the seemingly illogical mindset is coming from, otherwise yes I would agree with you. I’m not saying I agree with the actions being taken or the attitudes that are surfacing because of them, but there is more to the story than this thread shows.

It’s something that doesn’t need to be discussed in this thread any longer, so if you’d like to know more about it then you can PM me here on the forums. Lets try keep the thread clean.

It’s so difficult to think that this Dungeon subforum is so hidden from the eyes of the people that frequent here that they cannot just make a thread, initiating a get-together or some sort of guild-committee to organise whatever kind of tournament.

Whether it’s out of jealousy or not, it is very easy to create that general impression. As Nike has said, DnT doesn’t even have to do this. Are you now thinking that DnT wouldn’t have gone ahead or couldn’t have gone ahead without any sponsoring from Anet or something?

Because I don’t think they were going to go ahead with this kind of initiative knowing what the prize pool would be first. Just like in this current tournament, I don’t think anyone from DnT could have known that Anet would sponsor that amount of gems to help make this tournament a success.

Regardless whether I liked the fractal tourney or not, I think what [King] did was another respectable initiative to try and make the fractal runs into a competitive format. None of them made any noise about the dungeon tournament being held by DnT and they knew it better that that wouldn’t stop them from hosting a similar tourney or a different kind of pve tourney (which they did).

I’m not saying that a community-driven project is impossible or bad, but there’s your problem in it: no one felt compelled or driven enough to launch one because the “responsibility” lies with everyone so everyone is waiting for everyone else to do it. I’ve never seen any community-driven channels being closed.

Not going to lie, feeling kinda burnt. I’m trying really hard to remain positive in the face of all this attention that the dungeon sub-forum is getting, but it’s difficult. I feel that I’ve reached all my goals in game, soloing dungeons and Arah, paying forward to others what Iaharal and Leo did for me, earning good $$$ on the tp, etc. I logged in to do the living story stuff and realized for the first time in my 20+ years of being an RPG fan, I really just didn’t give a flying crap about the story, or the characters. In fact, I was rooting for the inquest to smash Tami, or do something brutal to Braham, or just out and out SOMETHING that would mix things up a bit, SOMETHING to catch me by surprise. Of course, nothing did.

I went back to pugging dungeons, as running w/ my guild is just too easy (and they don’t like my TS for some reason). Helped some people, solo’d some stuff, worked on ele, and just stopped for a sec and realized that there’s nothing else that I want to do. I honestly can’t imagine what you guys (and girls) who’ve been playing for 2 years now feel like.

inb4, just like laharl, you quit the game for at least 6 months.

I can see the rewards angle being relevant.

It’s a bit like running high level fractals. All that, and for RNG?

There are just many other more fun and more rewarding activities to do. To me, I’d still do fractals because it can be a lot more fun even without any appropriate rewards.

Honestly, I’d choose number 2.

I don’t want to have the community provide feedbacks on things we don’t care about.

It’s like, if let’s say they want to have a feedback on world bosses, it’s honestly a lot of community feedback on low priority topics for most people. It’s gonna be freaking meaningless to improve the world bosses based on the community’s responses, if the community cares more about more sPvP maps, more WvW options or more dungeons and fractals.

What are we working on right now? Feature Pack 2 (in ~two more weeks), Season 2 of the Living World (coming back this fall), the WvW Fall Tournament, and the World Tournament Series PvP global tournament are just some of the things we are currently working on that we can tell you about right now.

After the end of the tournaments, the game will be the same since it was released!
Players really want:

  • New Dungeons/Fractals
  • New Dungeon/Fractal Rewards
  • PvP modes/maps
  • Guild Halls (GvG)
  • New Legendaries
  • New Weapon and Armor skins (No RNG)
  • Precursor Crafting

Please, stop tournaments and living story, We want more permanent content!
We’ve spent years asking and you don’t listen us!

With the exception of the new weapons and armor skins that keep coming now and then, what Anet should do is to stop thinking that this is simply a “minority but vocal” community that’s asking for this.

The reason why people asked for a new permanent map on the LS S2 is because they were looking for some sort of content that is going to stay no matter what. It’s not because we were all that excited for LS S2, it’s that we knew that it was going to come no matter what, and if it’d come, we’d rather it come in that format (new permanent map).

But I don’t think the overall community is pleased that we have a new map vs new dungeon/fractal contents for instance.

And… about people being bitter with the dev team… I remember Danicia mentioning that it was her job to translate the players’ frustrations into something that can be positively absorbed by the devs.

I guess, overall, it’s more helpful for the devs to read 5 pages of positive inputs rather than having to skim through 20 pages of rants. But… I’m also just saying that it’s Anet’s job to be able to filter whatever good stuffs they can find amidst whatever is being posted here.

Is it their job? I must’ve missed that hook when hearing about the game.

It still is. Obviously, there are things that can be done to make their jobs easier.

I remember someone writing the proposal for Chris in the Fractals CDI so that he could easily submit that as a report. But he asked the community to help him and they did.

Even if the community didn’t, he initiated the CDI and he should communicate whatever he got from it to whomever he’s supposed to report it to anyways, whether it’s in a jungle format or a very clean resume format.

We could probably do a poll (even though I highly think it’s unnecessary) in terms of what people’s favourite dungeons are at the moment and which ones the least (if possible).

Or like, list the top reasons why certain dungeons are well-liked or well-disliked.

Skippable Cutscenes

As much as I was happy with the changes in the dredge fractal, I’m literally surprised by how little effort has been made in terms of making the cutscenes unskippable, even though I’d imagine that these are changes that can easily be implemented (I’m not an expert for how to make that work, but if I’m wrong about it please correct me). What’s the deal with unskippable cutscenes and how much manpower needs to be directed for that sort of thing anyways?

Anyways, my point of making this post is, already I’m predicting that most people’s favourite dungeon in the entire game is Arah and that they should continue to do something similar in the future instead of designing a path like Aetherblade.

And as many others have stated their opinions, even if you do nothing to the dungeons at the rate it is in, when we get new content like a whole new dungeon like Arah, you have no idea how much rejoicing there will be in this community. We would soooooooo easily let go of things like the bonewall not disappearing at Alphard, which is just ridiculously tedious for no good reason at all.

On a sidenote, I also would like to say that a dungeon like AC Story Mode with a non-linear setup is a very nice design that would be a cool feature in whatever new possible contents we might get. I’d just like to give that a special mention since it might easily be overlooked since Arah isn’t like that (even though I honestly see the potential in Arah Story Mode for this non-linear approach…).

I really don’t understand why people are still discussing FGS for record runs in the current meta.

The point of record runs isn’t always about the ability to one shot bosses using FGS, but the strategic timings on when and where to use them. We only had one pair of FGS for the 2nd boss fight because we sacrificed that DPS over mobility.

We also couldn’t time warp on the dredge cart because of the mass invis in the beginning. That’s a high DPS loss too.

The high level of coordination as a team is also a challenge on its own.

I expect better from people who don’t consider themselves a casual. FGSing isn’t what makes this game fun, but it is there as a tool in our disposal. That’s all there is to it.

We still had fun because of the new strats and coordination required to pull it off (like, if it was so easy to be perfect, our Mesmer wouldn’t have casted feedback that early). And it’s easy to tell that our rotations went downhill from the dredge cart onwards due to how different Eles were to time their swirlings differently.

And +1 to Purple Miku regarding FGS and Archdiviner.

I actually agree with point one. They need to add some anti-stacking mechanics to Lupi.

For instance, what if he did some really high damage attacks, but only at melee range? You know, like kick or claw at them? And to drive home that players shouldn’t be stacking, the attacks could knock them back 300-600 units. “Go range, folks!” :-) Some adds that swarm the players while they’re knocked down and at like 10% health might be overkill, but ANet could add them if they really wanted to send a message.

Or a giant, like 600 radius area attack where he shoots a hundred of his projectile bolts at about 200 range? It should instadown any player who stays in it, or at least those zerkers (lol, they’re not even proper tanks with that gear, why should they get that close? That’s DPS gear!!). Make it have like a 0.15s tell so that those elitists that rely on abusing evades can’t just easily dodge out of it.

And to really make sure that nobody tries to stack, a giant (like 900 radius) PBAoE attack, powerful enough to down a zerkerburger, could pop up during the fight. To punish those “players” that just want to finish the runs fast instead of having fun, they could make the attack actually heal Lupi back up. I know, I know, I’m evil >:-) But that would just make those grievers who are ruining the game take longer! Man, I hate those guys. >.<

Maybe someone at ANet will read this and realize how easily they can keep cheaters from meleeing and using what they call “combos” (bugged interactions between skills that somehow give them more damage) to exploit Lupi, and finally implement some of these ideas!

Obviously this needs to be copy pasted more often from now on.

Mesmers are just plagued with bugs and bugs and bugs and bugs and bugs.

There’s 0 class in GW2 that’s unviable for doing dungeons, but some are better than the others depending on the dungeon situation (for instance, you want to have 1 reflect heavy class for a dungeon that has a lot of reflect damage… this is just obvious).

As far as dungeons are concerned, Mesmers are viable for both casual and speedclear runs. But if you’re going to do GS Mesmer in dungeon and complain that your DPS sucks… well, it’s like complaining that your DPS sucks when you’re playing Warrior on rifle anyways.

On very short fights, Mesmer’s DPS is terrible, so if you’re on GS, it’s time to change your weaponset and you won’t be as much of a dead weight anymore!

Pls refer to dungeon forum FAQs.

If the trash mobs aren’t challenging to kill, it’s still a waste of time to kill them, but it’s safer.

This provides a better risk vs reward dimension to the game. If you care about the rewards, then skip them and skip them fast.

Seriously. “Abused the Crud.” So is Videogamermike suggesting that players must not only take into account what skills work well for a situation (reflection skills against projectiles), but must also decide at what point using those said skills becomes abuse? Its not like I’m hacking the game. I’m pressing one key to activate a skill to use it as intended.

player 1 – hey why aren’t you using feedback? this boss has lots of projectiles.
Me – I don’t wanna abuse the crud out of reflections. I’ll use less damaging skills to make this a fair fight.
