conserning issue with GW2 other than its use of visual fidelity options. That being , its catastrophic performance anywhere where there are groups of other players.

coming from a guy who has a sizable list of heaps far computer stats, i cant believe i accept the mist war performance with my barely 25 fps on this core i5 2.3 ghz, 1gb VRAM, 8 gb RAM laptop!

Because Bloom is one of those graphic features you have on your game engine checklist like hard shadows or depth of field blurring. Surprised we don’t have “lens flair” when looking up at the day star.

It’s one of the ugliest lighting passes a game could possibly have. i always have my post processing turned off because of it. all the official screen shots posted in the blog’s short stories have that kitten white glowly vomit everywhere, makes the game look worse then it is without post processing.

if people like it, which i doubt, keep it on. but at LEAST turn post processing off when you screen shot for the short stories! my word. :S

Just gonna put this out there… he’s a mesmer, for all we know he was just sitting in the background casting his illusions on us and making us fight air, or probably more fitting, another nightmare court member.

He’s pretty high up in rank last i checked, i doubt he’d throw himself away so carelessly…. i hope….

this is good news! Mesmer’s always find a way to wriggle out but nevertheless we must take fact and evidence into consideration. A body is left behind after the fight…. but we dont know how long for. consistency with this is most illusions shatter after being structurally compromised. this doesnt stop cadyern from casting an illusion that copies him with a “act of dying” while the real sylvari escapes into the jungle.

That’s also another possibility! And he may be more on par with Faolin with illusions who, as we saw, was able to create them to be closer to shades where they didn’t actually shatter and she was able to “rez” them if you don’t bat her away.

taking evidence from characters of tyria, the short stories and the long novels we see that scholar’s have many many many more spells than the ones we have for players. a great example is Mocha, the asuran mesmer from sea of sorrows. she has the ability to whisper in someones ear from hundreds of metres away but player mesmers cannot! we can obviously expect more skill additions in the future but its good to remember that there is this kind of scholastic void of discovering skills for each profession. we dont know everything we can do with each aspect of magic.

during story mode of twilight arbor we faced cadyern, the creator of the nightmare court. this short story involves cadyern.

i have a very strong hunch that the ‘magic wand’ she found at the end of eotn has something to do with her long life, or maybe she received instructions/made a deal with grenthy before the gods cut off communication, she could be his last ‘champion’

you can’t change the animation for gust
it’d be 0p, such a change would be so game breaking pvp would be entirely impossible

i realise now that my idea isnt fully covered in the title. im exploring the idea of sprucing up lack luster skills for the elementalist with a new mechanic for gust. this would entail a longer wind up, new animation (like the video i posted. elemenatalist already has breath enhancing skills this would just be breathing with arms directing the gust into a person sized rectangle), keep it in a person sized line but make it a solid wall of air flowing from the player and ending at 900 rad. change the effect from knockdown to launch. what do you think now that ive clarified for you?

that didnt stop arena net putting “the mist war” in dialogue. were not renaming the final product here were deciding what convention we speak collectively. there isn’t a trademark on speech and written word. were not making money out of this convention so no to ’EA will prevent us from doing this".

wvw i believe has always been a tough acronym to mention because the acronym is longer to pronounce then what it represents eg “double you vee double you” vs “world versus world”. it bothers me sometimes because in game all the people of tyria call it “the mist war” which is a simple, effective way of naming what is going on. we should help spread the consistency between Tyria and how we discuss the game outside. this would also help immersion and to view it as part of the tyria universe instead of this separate game mode that we teleport to.

the same can apply to spvp. this acronym doesnt really describe what is happening in the game world of tyria. names like just simply “structured” or “mist’s tournament” or “mist’s arena” are more effective and give this place a sense of culture and consistency, not separateness.

an acronym is really not needed when

+ both of these places are part of the tyrian universe, not a different game mode.

+ names are easier to pronounce then acronyms in this case.

+acronyms don’t give us the sense of weight, grandeur and accomplishment as words do.

please give me feedback and i will discuss this topic as nobly as i can!

i decided to take a break all through southsun, molten alliance, dragon bash. sure i missed out on opportunities but what i really wanted out of it was the lore. thankfully some kind stranger put up all living story summaries so far AND conversation between the living story characters. few hours on the gw2 wiki and im up to date.

That’s actually one of the points that annoys me – there should be a tab on your hero page just like for living story that chronicles what your character experienced through the living story (but they made it all account-wide .. duh). Either way living story chronicling sooner then later please Anet /whip!

i remember arena stating they wanted to put in your very idea, but like all game development it takes work expertise and time. i would love more than anything a living story tab just like the personal story tab that logs every important encounter i have in my life. imo it would be better to make it character bound so you dont have this backstory with a character that hasnt played the content. i forgot most of the things that happened in my backstory so i read that tab sometimes.

ok i have almost made it through the pain cliffs once more. i made it out of satan’s lair itself but i think my trip there effected the game. i went back to the very start just before i ask an eagle for a lift….. would you believe it? all the rain bro bridges are down from start to the first octo pal. IN NORMAL MODE. fishy no? the rain bros have NO collision.

this lowlife rain beast stole my achievement! arrest this man!

edit all is well! i have FINALLY achieved bachelor of baubles 2 after much toil! other things of note.

+a bauble reappeared after some point in the game. whether that be after the continue room or otherwise i cannae mention. the baubles position is the usual hides behind a hillock after the third checkpoint.

+i went and unlocked the checkpoint which initially leads onto the towering-poles-of-terror. the second to last checkpoint. usually i never go into this checkpoint because thanks to the meditating stranger i know the route to an easy access flag which access the frozen hills directly close to the end.

+i stood directly in front of the open chest as the floating robot was defeated. it might not be important but worth mentioning so based arena can track down the cochroaches in their riggings.

I just got it, and went to the continue room more times than I care to admit. So that is not an issue.

this is good news, friend! i will rewatch the entire popular guide and then reembark one last time. i polished off everything on the mountains of ice today im chuffed it didnt bug out! ^^

well for me, the only thing i haven’t checked is if visiting the continue room at all during the run will block the achievement. that’s the only thing i haven’t tested as most of my runs i had to visit the continue room.

Due to technical issues. There can be no save points for the last time you entered SAB.

The only solution is to make levels shorter.

Also I wish SAB wasn’t best solo’d. It’s a lot more fun with a party. But every one is anti-social now days or doesn’t want to do SAB any more. Needs to be incentives for group play.

PLEASE dont project your beliefs onto such a large array of individuals EVERYONE. please learn to rephrase without spreading the bad vibes. the social supports depend on each of us doing a little. dont make people give up.

im really annoyed that i cant complete the bachelor and master of baubles due to bugs in the system. considering arena net’s staggering track record of performance i forsee everything being fixed for the customers as they slowly reach niche perfection. if the living story truly only sticks around for so long and is GONE FOREVER then i have all of the next installment to complete. i do love completing i love the challenge i love everything about sab: the vibrant colour the kitten y music the subtle shadows and lighting the intergration seamlessly as if matrix within matrix. its all up from here just depends on if your eyes are open.

there is way to much consistency for this issue for me not to put a support ticket in. ive tried 6 PERFECT bauble runs of 2-2 all ending with no bachelor of baubles. ARENA NET this is bugged for sure!

I agree more or less with the OP on almost all his point. The living story has reached its limits and is now actively burning out the greatest fans of Arena.net itself.

Everyone here probably knows I’m a big fan of the game and of A.net. Living Story is not fun anymore.

Gust should be like mesmer knockback, frontal cone aoe. As i said, staff has extremely unreliable skills. 51%+ chance to miss.

i disagree about implementing a cone area of effect because those are skills best attuned with infused daggers.

it would be better as a rectangle of effect exuding from the players mouth. it makes sense animation wise if the player character is seen as focusing the shout into a rectangle shoulder wide with his/her hands. like the spell “temporal curtain”….. only virtically pointing outward from the player. im only saying that because i would love to see more projectile skill shots instead of instead skill shots. give other players highly visual cues instead of the arm flinging.

as long as we all agree that this skill needs work, animation wise, damage wise and meta wise then arena will get the message. the animation is weak and the spell effect is only as good as daze. it should be a proper “launch” knockback at least in my eyes.

To add on to what “Beetle.2476” stated;

Anise has the ability to transform people (One of the stories, she transforms your PC into a bandit) so I wouldn’t completely rule out Anise is actually Livia, but staying out of the “spotlight” for a reason yet unknown.

I would also say the writer of SoS (Ree) is a master of GW Lore. I doubt she would stick Livia into the story without some explanation or reasoning behind it.

I would keep a keen eye and ear out, cause I wouldn’t be suprised if she makes an appearance in GW2.

its as if one is flinging the arm to command a force of wind. It takes quite a substantial hurricane to push someone off their feet, realistically….. but I think it was a step in the right direction when arena buffed it to affect 5 enemies in a straight line for 900 rad; in place of one enemy. the skill was so forgettable before…… let’s make it even better!

the problem is even on a Norn the animation is shorter and less profound then say a warriors hammer. its kind of whimsical and small; tricky to notice in the bloodlust of battle. in my imagination i’m actually doing this. ^^

That kind of an animation would put it on par with the level of “showiness” as meteor shower. in that video its like the dead king is breathing a typhoon upon Aragorn; his natural act being transformed by magic which would fit PERFECTLY on level with skills like drakes breath, cone of cold. since this skill is more than just damage and conditions its animation should show more than that perhaps ritual like raising hands into the air for the briefest of moments before twisting around and shouting in one line with arms stretched forward like a martial artist; as if holding a giant ball.

this skill could be the fus roh dah of gw2. a powerful skill shot that needs to be aimed instead of a homing missle fire and forget. compare some skills in gw2 to the popular game league of legends where skills shots are heavily rewarded. imagineyou cast this wall of wind and everyone standing in the “wall” is launched instead of just knocked down for 1.5 seconds.

you could even emphasise the voice carried upon the wind like in the video. make it loud and noticable. all in favour? ^^ oh man so much want. this is all speculation of course; i would love to hear your speculation.

if what you say is so then it must be the bauble checklist ok so:
i got
+the 4 baubles in the first checkpoint
+the bauble on top of the first pagoda, the chest soon after.
+the bauble hiding behind the cliff after first octopus checkpoint
+the bauble down low after the first flower and then another near the next flower.
+the bauble in front of eagle.
+the 7 baubles on top of the first bell, 3 on top and in the master assassins pagoda.
+1 in the dart puzzle.
+the chest on top of the fifth pagoda.
the bauble on top of the sixth pagoda, 2 on the seventh, 1 behind a block of around the corner of the eighth, the chest through the green lava secret.
+bauble accessed with whip in the seventh pagoda.
+flute chest.
+last platform bauble.
+last bell 5 baubles.
+bauble next to the last draw bridge.

any i missed?

its part of the living story so were going to here more about moto and his life later on but probably…. in a different situation than the vanilla SAB. just a guess try reading the short story about moto youll see theres more to it then just the mini game. besides it makes the experience more valuable when only those who did it during the 1 month get credit.

You have to be present by the chest when the timer runs out I believe… otherwise you won’t be credited.

inside the chest? ive had a bunch of runs where i didnt get the master of baubles achievement. i may have not been standing in the chest….. its such a lame bug though.

agree with everything. also I would love some sort of at least slight redesign for some of the NPCs, mainly the generic ones. I am fine with seeing the same thing over and over, but man, sometimes that same thing is not a nice thing to look at.

in what quality are you looking for more of in the people of tyria? is it their tone of voice? the subjects they talk about?

+make npc’s consistently turn their head to look at who their talking to. a good example is the ending scene of queens jubilee when the PC fights scarlet in the fun house. Logan and anise are talking to each other in very strong tones but not once do they face each other! staring off into space….. what a windfall for role players.

+make npc’s consistently move their mouths when their talking. some move their mouths and some don’t. whats up, arena?

+make npc’s turn there whole body to face the person they are talking to when they are very serious about what they are saying. put more emphasis on body language. most of the way we communicate is through body language.

+make npc’s tougher to kill. they are too weak and should be just as strong as a player. many people we meet in the game are trained soldiers not farmers. when they come back from unconsciousness make them climb to their feet slowly, shaking their heads et cetera. as it is now npc’s leap to their feet the second the encounter is over and its very jarring. another idea i have is to remove the instant awakening from unconsciousness and let the player revive the npc’s one by one.

little details. consistency of animation and fluid feedback will make the experience and encounters with people in the game have a little more impact.

peace metta infinite waters diving deep once again.
