Stephane just pointed out this issue to the devs, so we’ll hope to be able to provide information soon. Thank you for the reports.
whisper Verdant Brinks, could there be more that could slip out?
Not on my watch!
As a possible bug note. I did buy this story line early this week and the same thing happened to me. I finished Zman and then the first episode that it gave me for LS2 was the last episode. I completed it wondering why I was attacking these enemies with no context and then went into my achievements to find that it was in fact the last story, but it put me on it first. I now have my last episode completed first and with all mastery done for it as well.
I’d like to have QA repro this, but I need to know exactly what happened. Let me know if my understanding of your situation is accurate here.
Is this correct?
(edited by BobbyStein.2315)
This is exactly why LS1 should be unlock-able and purchasable like LS2.
I don’t disagree. We’ve stated before that we hope to one day rebuild LW Season 1, but we’re focused on HoT development right now.
Hey all, didn’t want to leave this discussion hanging. Losing the hover list was a needed concession because of the fact that the currency list is growing and would potentially become unusable. We’ve been talking about ways we could have kept it, and things we might do in the future to bring it back, but time constraints kept us from being able to implement any of them for the 6/23 release. We are still looking at it and considering our options though.
For whatever reason, the last 14 bank slots are returned as null. They’re not empty, they’re full of Bloodstone Dust, Empyreal Fragments, and Dragonite Ore.
That’s super weird. Can you PM the API key you’re using? I can take at it tomorrow.
We’ve reached the point where this has become a circular discussion. It’s clear that many are posting repeatedly and redundantly. We feel that at this point everyone interested in the topic has had a pretty good opportunity to express his or her opinion.
We will close this thread now. Thanks to those of you who, from any point of view, contributed to an interesting discussion.

Whoops! Sorry about the crash. This has been resolved.
Out of curiosity, what is the “focus” of this thread? Title is pretty much “thanks ANet for this character” and it seems opinions on Sya qualify as topical. Are opinions on the larger issue topical? Are debates that have reached a natural (natural?) no longer topical afterwards?

While some have asked us to lock the thread, we’d really prefer to leave it open. Certainly we understand that there are a lot of people here and opinions vary. Some feel one way, some another. A few have no opinion at all… which means they’ve probably turned away from a 14-page thread.
But this started as a game-related discussion, and while I hate to trample an interesting (for the most part
) conversation, I think some of the comments have wandered far astray from the topic of the in-game NPC, and it’s clear that a few back-and-forth debates have reached their natural conclusion.
Let’s see if we can keep this a bit more focused, please.
I admit, haven’t logged in with those characters for ages.
Those broken equipment slots are on my linked examples (which are from my account) — after digging around in the code a bit, older characters still apparently have things equipped in clothing slots (whereas newer ones don’t). Super weird, but easy enough to fix.
Just deployed the fix for this.
Is sharing API Keys with other players ok to do, or should I keep this information to myself? I wasn’t sure if say giving someone an API Key would put me at risk for account compromisation, or something related to that.
API keys are meant to be shared — but try to make a different key for each application so that if you later change your mind you can revoke only the application you don’t want to use anymore. When you delete the key, you’re effectively retracting any access you granted by sharing them.
All of the links in the original post use an API key from my personal account, for example.
Using API keys does not increase your risk for account compromise.
Wait…If the superfuous Noll was unintended, and thus fixed, that would imply that the Evon doppleganger IS intended….
Find the imposter “Evon” in Lion’s Arch right now, and I think you’ll find out why he borrowed his doppleganger’s name…
Did you find the explanation for the royal banners while Lion’s Arch was not under Krytan domination?
I like Konig’s interpretation, that they are meant to honor the history of King Doric’s presence in the city.
And Dougal? = ( Did he die?
Dougal is fine. He just doesn’t happen to be in the city at the moment.
Is LA is actually finished?
More or less, yes. The Consortium is still working on building the new Guild Initiative headquarters, though…

Edit: What is up with all those (mostly non existing) items in characters “equipment” without a “slot” (IDs 62,63,64,…)? Some of them seem to be old town clothing (ID 36370) and some old PvP weapons (have PvP Sigils as upgrade, (ID 5365 with upgrade 21207)).
O_o.
That’s a super weird bug, not sure how that slipped through the unit tests. Looking into it now.
If I have a stat selected item, does the inventory API let me see what the selected stat is?
Uhh, I completely forgot about that. For the 1-time stat selections it does — those are actually containers that just create the selected item. For legendary weapons which let you switch at-will, it won’t currently display which stats are selected. I’ll have that fixed at some point.
Completely forgot that was a thing.
First two Evons, now two Nolls.
Thanks, the superfluous Noll was unintended and I bugged it to fix.
GW2 armory, here we go!
I think the last bit we’re missing for the MVP is traits/skills
Nothing to announce, sorry!
…alternative ways?
Map breaking exploits like the ones used to get into the Inquest lab overseeing the wizard’s tower in Kessex.
Some actions cut on the middle when unloading a character and some locations will make the game be unable to put your character exactly where it was when reloading it, and instead it will push or teleport the character to the closest ‘firm ground’, that may be inside an otherwise unreachable place.
Sorry I was thinking nefarious things like telehacking, not exploiting movement skills or anything. :x “alternative ways” is something I read in a very sketch frame of mind.
Got this being looked at, well was being looked at already but I haven’t had time to post. ._.
Activated a handful of new endpoints — mostly authenticated and require the “inventories” permission — that provide access to an account’s various inventories:
Note that, as with all authenticated endpoints you can pass the API key either via an “Authorization: Bearer $key” header, or with the access_token parameter. Details about each of the endpoints can be found in the CDI pull requests on Github (linked for each one).
Finally, there’s a bug in the API enumeration that incorrectly and unconditionally lists the characters inventory/equipment endpoints as disabled. We’ll look to fix that at some point in the future so it shows the status of those endpoints properly.
Questions/comments? Happy developing
Hey everyone – as I’ve mentioned in other threads, we are aware of a bug that causes some people to become stuck in matches when a new game build is released. Rest assured, we are working on a fix for this issue. In the mean time, some manual intervention is required to clear up those players that get stuck – which I am happy to do. If you are stuck, contacting CS or posting is definitely the right thing to do as we watch the forums closely for issues like this.
Apologies for the inconvenience.
Thanks,
Ray
Probably not anytime soon; we’ve had a lot of issues with it.

Some more (new) items that show up in /v2/commerce/listings but not in /v2/items
69943, 70012, 69870, 69975, 69933, 69821, 69906, 69897
Yup, those are all the new gallant weapon skins; just went through the whitelist and blessed them all for public display.
Wanted to clear something up:
Power Block had its damage unintentionally increased with the 6/23 release. The reduction wasn’t a “nerf” – it was a bug fix. It still does the same damage it did before the 6/23 release.
As for Maimed, we wanted to address it before the build went out but we ran out of time. I agree that it would have been better to have adjusted it before you guys got your hands on the new build, but there just wasn’t time. Sorry about this.
For staff cd trait – conditional recharge is something new we’re trying out. The high cd reduction uptime that we were seeing right out of the gate wasn’t something we felt comfortable with. If it feels really weak after this we’ll come back to it and look at it again.
Anyways, as Peters said, we’re keeping a really close eye on everything right now and things will definitely continue to shift as we discover and evaluate how things take shape across the game.
Hope that addresses a few of your questions.
Night!
Not a bad effort! Want to try any of the others?
You clever lore hounds seem to be doing just fine fielding the others.
Here’s another one- 9: Why isn’t Magnus missing an eye anymore?
He’s, uh, trying out a new glass eye for feel, though something tells me he’ll decide it doesn’t suit him and return to the old eyepatch look in the near future…

This is great and all but can we finally get that Quaggan genocide we’ve all wanted since launch, please? Where’s Peter Fries when you need him? Take action friend!
On it.
Maybe i failed to find it, but there’s no significant Consortium Hub on the town. I mean the Black Lion got the huge Vaults building, but the guys that actually worked on rebuilding LA have a smaller presence than before? How the hell would a cutthroat mercantile guild/corporation/wtv would pass up the chance of improving their visibility in a town they rebuilt? And yet it seems they actually managed to erase their presence.
On the contrary, the Consortium had their brand new corporate headquarters built in the Commodore’s Quarter. You’ll find some of their workers milling around the two doors that lead to the workpit of their common functionaries and interns, and to another, more lavish office where they host clients for closed-door meetings.
So, I have read about the seasons of Living World in GW2 and well, i am still a noob here (and in MMOs) to know what that means.
Is it like a Series where seasons are parts of the plot?
And what about their playability? Are the stories available to be played by all or you had to play on their release to know about them?
Our Living World is a storyline that began just after the time of our game’s release.
The first Living World season was done mostly as open world events, each available for a few weeks to play before going away. Because of the open world nature of most of those events, they would need significant work to be re-redesigned as instanced, replayable content.
In the second season, our Living World episodes had more instanced content that was unlocked as free to play at your leisure, as long as you logged in during the two weeks that they ran live. After each episode of Season 2 was no longer current, they were made available for purchase. We added a Story Journal with Season 2, that tracks these episodes in linear form, along a timeline that spans a couple of years in Tyrian time.
The storyline of Living World ran in those two arcs that culminated this past January in the revelations that kick off the story of Heart of Thorns. Hope that helps a bit. Welcome aboard!
This is likely a hint to a future Southsun Cove story…
Only time will tell on that, but while you’re hanging around the Consortium’s new HQ in LA, listen for a few small tidbits in the office gossip between employees hinting at their mysterious (and remote) leadership.
Speaking of Southsun, there’s been a slight update in the status quo there, between SubdirectorNoll and the new island Sheriff.
If you want to see “Evon” for yourself, if I remember correctly he resides under the garden island, with some shady looking people. In his dialog you can confront him about pretending to be Evon Gnashblade to get free drinks.
By the way, there is a detail wrong in your analysis, Gnashblade is not a member of Captain’s Council, as he lost the election to Kiel.
Note that the real Evon (when he’s in his new office in the Black Lion Vaults) is using a ballot basket as his deskside trash bin.
However… I believe we should be able to have a conversation about this without the moderator team being required to lock the thread. Don’t you agree? Especially when, as several forum members have pointed out, this is one NPC with a few lines of dialogue who it not part of the story or of an event. You may interact with her, or not, as you choose. Just as you may join this thread, or not. But if you do…
If you feel negatively towards the presence of this NPC, this optional, easily-avoided, easily-ignored NPC, please avoid her in the game and please consider not posting in this thread unless you can do so with respectful and constructive comments.
Thanks.

So I’m still working on my personal story but this has me wondering….what will happen once I finish it? Will I basically be stuck picking up at a point that makes no sense like the OP here? If that’s the case i’ll just skip the story entirely once I hit the cap.
P.S. My account is only two months old, max, so I wouldn’t have this exact problem.
The Personal Story shouldn’t show up anymore in the upper right once you complete it, and since you don’t have any Living World episodes unlocked I believe the content guide will point you to other things like events, etc. You can change these settings by hitting F11 and looking at the Content Guide settings under User Interface.
The thing that I don’t get, is why would they bother to give me the final chapter of Season 2? I didn’t even get the parts before it, just the ending. This makes literally zero sense to a player who doesn’t supplement the game with forums/wiki/youtube. It feels really bad.
Here’s what I think happened in your case:
- You logged into GW2 sometime between January 13 and January 27 (the date when episode 8 released and the end of the two week “free unlock” period)
- You completed your Personal Story six months later
- The content guide looked for the next available story in your Story Journal. Since you probably don’t have any other episodes from Season 2 unlocked it put you on Episode 8.
I’d need to see a screenshot to be absolutely sure, but that’s likely what happened.
The good: You got a free episode
The bad: You played that episode out of linear order and it confused youWe certainly can message this better in the game, so I’ll be having some conversations about how to change this behavior.
Okay, glad to hear this is an isolated case! I don’t recall if I had GW2 installed during that time period (I purchased GW2 at release, but only just got around to playing it a month or two ago… I know, I know), but it would make sense for that to be the cause.
Here’s a screenshot of my story tab, if that helps you at all.
Thanks for the screenshot. Yeah, you had episode 8 unlocked (either you got it for free in January or you bought it). Episodes 1-7 show as locked in your journal so the content guide put you on the only one available.

This is bugging me so much that I have actually sent a private PM to two devs with a link to this thread and a brief explanation.
And I was sent a PM, too. About this and several other game changes. After the build was just a few hours old.
Please, forum members, don’t flood ArenaNet team members’ PM boxes with individual requests, feedback, or reports. Please post, with details, as you have done. Please use the in-game system to submit a report. And then please allow time for bug reports, suggestions, and feedback to be reviewed, discussed, and decided upon.
Noting “no response” in less than 24 hours simply is not giving our team sufficient time to read, review, analyze, perhaps consult with others, and then reach a conclusion about an individual report or request. If you recall the huge number of changes that were made yesterday, I feel sure that you’ll agree that allowing time for this request to be noted is entirely fair and appropriate. After all, no one wants to be “that guy or gal” who says “I want it, and I want it naaaaaoooow!”
Thanks for understanding that the team will need time to review your feedback. And that’s for your patience in giving them the latitude to make the best decision in each case.
We had a bug on this when it was all specs, looks like Engineer is special today.
I’ll get it looked at.
I have cleared the stuck queues. People should be able to play again. I will continue to monitor the situation.
Thanks,
Ray
Yep – this is a known issue. I will be clearing all of these stuck queues shortly. I will repost here when that is complete.
Thanks!
Ray
Logged in with the wrong account when I posted the above. So reposting here:
Hey All! I’m a server programmer here at ArenaNet and we are aware of this issue. We are currently working on a fix.
But … you should be able to get playing again by completely logging out of the game for 10 mins. This should reset things such that you can queue and play PvP again.
I can reset folks that have have this issue too and I will try to do that. I will watch the forums for more cases of this problem.
Also – remember to that you can tell Customer Support about this problem – they will contact me and I can investigate and fix.
Apologies for this problem – as I said it’s a known issue and we have a fix coming that will solve it.
Thanks!
Ray
Hey all, I’m looking into these!
Any indication on group size required for capture mission?
Will they have to be in the guild to help?
We’re still debating minimum size, you can see a lot of discussion down in the guild CDI thread that’s helping us inform some of those decisions.
And no – you don’t need people to be in your guild to help you capture it. Bring friendly guilds to help you out, ask nicely in Lion’s Arch, etc.
Hi,
We are a guild of 3 guys . We love WWW.
With Guild halls , we will have to do guild missions. So why we have to do puzzle jump and things like this , when in this game we just love killing people on the battlefield !
Why can t we play as we want .. ??
HoT will include a solution for this for both guilds that are WvW, and PvP oriented that want to build and expand their Guild Halls and need the favor generated by guild missions. Same goes for guilds that have a mix of players interested in all three. More info down the road a bit on how this will work once we’ve got it a little more solid on our end.
Edited to add: Everyone will have to do the actual mission to capture the guild hall once per hall though no matter what. If your group online is too small, you’ll need to invite friends (or pay/beg/sing-songs-to-woo peeps in Lion’s Arch!) to come with you and help you claim the guild hall to own one. Or you could always grow your guild
(edited by ColinJohanson.2394)
Let’s be clear, this version of condition stacking and condi builds being viable in all games modes is a large part of our goal. We just want to make sure we don’t create imbalances that actually make the game less fun. Don’t expect huge balance swings, but rather our balance goal has always been to make more small adjustments.
Is there anything wrong with the personal story?
i just got the game yesterday and just started playing earlier with a human engineer but after finishing “Defending Shaemoor” theres no more quest for me.
From what I can see in your screenshot, it looks like you need to hit level 10 before you can access the next story “block.”
From the wiki:
“Each character’s personal story is divided into eight chapters, with each chapter unlocking every 10 levels.”
