No, the API can’t do that yet.
Just to note — real-time fine-grain access to character position is never going to be something we can provide. The closest we’d be able to get is which map they’re currently on, not where on the map they currently are.
May I ask why this is not possible? Every character has an XYZ coordinate that is also being used to show to party-members (or WvW people).
I could imagine the API only reads information form the database and the character positions are obviously not in the database, however one would think you could ask the server that information (just as the cliënt does get that information).
The map instance servers are the only ones that have real-time character position data and aren’t designed to have arbitrary bits and bobbles connecting to them. Strictly speaking, it isn’t impossible, but I don’t want to couple them to the API infrastructure.
Please try again. This should be fixed.

The following steps were restored to their original position in chapter 8.
- Against the Corruption
- Cathedral of Silence
- Romke’s Final Voyage
- Source of Orr
Did you experience the issue in one of the story steps listed above?
Against the Corruption and Cathedral of Silence were definitely level 70 for me, I took screenshots and stuff. Don’t remember what level Source of Orr was.
Thanks for the screenshot. I reproduced this on my machine and sent a bug over to Design to investigate a fix. No ETA at the moment but it is being looked at.
Might fit perfectly into the characters endpoint. May someone please reopen https://github.com/arenanet/api-cdi/pull/16
Make a new PR for it — it’s a new change distinct from that one.

Quite simply is there an API to show my guildies what other guilds i’m in but not repping. May be of help if people are looking for multiple guilds to meet their needs and have a large friend base etc.
Yes. The “account” permission lets the API key show which guilds you’re in (via /v2/account) — the “characters” permission lets the API key show which guild each of your characters reps (via /v2/characters).
1. Not yet? (https://github.com/arenanet/api-cdi/pull/25)
2. and 3. would be no currently. I believe guild stuff is on hold until after the release of HoT with all its guild related changes, and I expect account wallets to be on a radar somewhere too.
I want to ship a partial guild endpoint before HoT — basically with the more basic features (e.g., rosters and ranks and stuff). That initial release will leave out all the game-specific stuff since I’m not sure what’s changing.
The new wallet’s out now, so I should probably take a look at exposing that functionality.
I haven’t even started on the wardrobe stuff yet. On the API CDI github repo, each pull request is tagged with one of “ready” [to start work], “in progress” or “needs deploy” — these indicate the current development status.
I’ll have a look at the skin unlocks today — it’s a fairly high-value feature and it might only take a day or two to implement (in the happy case, at least).
I believe it’s because the map tiles are out-of-sync with the API data. We’ll update the map tiles after HoT ships (because we’ve had issues with the process leaking data before).
I dont understand . I was doing lvl 80 quest of main story , and now i was redirected to lvl 70 quests? should i repeat again the quests??
They put the story back in order but the story steps they moved didn’t get fixed to be the right level. So yeah the story is in the right order but the end bits don’t reflect what chapter they’re supposed to be in. I just finished the story again yesterday and it does go to lvl 80 story then some steps are still level 70 (with level 70 rewards) and then back to level 80 again. It’s weird.

An update for those watching this thread: I reproduced this bug and sent the report over to Programming. I don’t have an ETA on a fix but it’s being actively investigated.
Let me clarify:
Since the 6/23 release, dozens upon dozens of players have sent me bugs, exploits, suggestions – etc. This particular group of players decided to put their feedback into a document that they could all edit and then shoot over to me to take a look at. It has been particularly helpful in for nailing down a number of balance affecting bugs, similar to the comprehensive lists that have popped up in a number of the profession forums.
So, to be very clear: this list is neither written nor maintained by myself or anyone else at ArenaNet. It is a list of issues (bugs and balance) that players would like to see addressed.

They already are
Your guess is as good as mine if and when this will happen.
Hint: My guess is the next release.
Next release will make world boss attack targets crittable. I made sure of that.
Hi Meridius! I found your ticket and forwarded the information along to the developers. They’re looking in to it now.
Due to its current unintended behavior, the Grenadier trait has been temporarily disabled until the next scheduled release. If you were using this trait, we suggest you select a different one until the trait is re-enabled.
Also x2, for when you get to The Secret of Southsun, you include the recorded but never used Faren judging the fancy cat competition.
It’s on the list!
(gasps in shock)

Since he’s not in the city’s council, it wasn’t up to Evon to sign off on the Consortium bid for the surveying and rebuilding effort, though presumably he went along with it to get himself new office and vault space in the bargain (not to mention supplying the building materials). Presumably Evon had a lot of solicited and unsolicited input as a major pillar of the city’s business community.
I don’t think there’s any love lost between Evon and the BLTC’s upstart rival.
To receive support for purchases, or for any other issue:
Do not contact Digital River. Do not attempt to use the in-game system, as that clearly states you will not receive a response and there is no option for payment or billing support.
There’s a list of apps and websites using the API on the wiki: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/API:List_of_applications
I’ve added the 3 sites above but anyone (including app/site authors) can edit the page to add and complete information!
And to note: I’m not saying it’ll be easy to bring back Season 1 just because there were so many instances. The instances of Season 1 were done in multiple formats (4 different formats I believe), none of which are like Season 2/Personal Story, so it’s hard to say – especially as players – how much work would need to be done to change it from instance format A/B/C to instance format D.
It’s quite a bit of work, actually, to convert the Season 1 content into something that resembles the Season 2 format. So while we’re fortunate to have some pre-built content to start from we’d have to make a lot of changes for it to fit the revised LW model.
But all the assets are there. Dialogue, plot, voice acting, even the intended scripting. Arguably, it might just be a case of rescripting into a new format with some programming for said format. But as a player it’s hard to gauge how much work that ‘case of rescripting’ might be.
My hope is that, should we take the opportunity to bring back Season 1 in some form or fashion, that we’d get the opportunity to make improvements like we did with the Personal Story restoration (revised VO, maybe some new or updated camera flythroughs or cinematics, etc.). I want to be clear, though, that we have nothing to announce at this time. Just being totally honest and managing expectations here.
Another way to be backwards compatible would be to have the old block stay there, but add a new block on items, which presents things in a saner way. Then if there’s ever a v3, we can drop the old block.
That’s probably the approach I’ll take — just throw in a .details.stats field for weapons/armor that’s an object whose keys are the attribute names and values are the amount each attribute is adjusted.
I’ve never been banned, never hacked, never even reported.
But in all fairness and for full disclosure, since you have asked for information about this situation, records indicate that that you’ve had issues with purchases since 2013. Customer Support has done their best to assist you, and from what I have seen, they explained the situation in the level of detail that they can offer. However, this is not a new situation and the issues preventing the completion of purchases is not on our side, nor on Digital River’s.
I truly hope that you can purchase the expansion pack! You may be able to do that through an online partner or through a local retailer. You then could upgrade to the DDE, if you desired to do so, by purchasing gem cards and upgrading through the online store.
At this time we aren’t planning on selling Mist Champions for Gems.
I’m confused, I’m angry, and I’m without options at this point.
The option you do have, which you have not yet pursued, according to Customer Support, is to submit a ticket to Customer Support and allow them to assist you. A senior agent informed me that they have received no tickets regarding the account associated with your display name, or at least no tickets in the last couple of years. Please submit a ticket so they can help you.

Please check the Guardian sub-forum for information on a temporary trait disabling.
Due to its unintended behavior, the Symbolic Avenger trait has been temporarily disabled until the next scheduled release. If you were using this trait, we suggest you select a different one until the trait is re-enabled.
Gonna give grenadier the same treatment?
We are looking at many things. And the reports you share are extremely helpful in honing in on the most critical issues.

The current skill state (or balance) is not going to fall under a situation where we would consider it an “abuse of a bug” or “exploitation of a bug”.
This is really the same situation as when the Mesmer fall trait was in a state where the damage was significantly too high.
No we aren’t going to action players for that.
When GW2 Launched Anet had an amazing no tolerance policy for exploiters. Going as far as to ban the top streamer on twitch because he used one of them. After years of game makers turning the other cheek and allowing exploiters to profit, i found a game that wasn’t going to mess around with players using obvious unintended mechanics and bugs.
What the hell happened? Now people are posting “Record Kill” threads using broken skills. Streamers advertise they are using the bug in their stream titles as they trivialize all content with it. Where is the ban hammer for them?
I am assuming you are referring to Kripp and the ban for advertisement of how to exploit a bug. While before my time, I see the reason why it was carried out. The impact of was significant for the time and it required significant cleanup, though we probably could have handled it a bit more gracefully.
“Record Kill” is an entirely artificial and community created metric. You can choose to completely ignore kills that revolve around temporary lack of balances in skills.
As far as abusing bugs in dungeons, and advertisement of them, reporting it to exploits@arena.net is probably the best way to get us to look at something. Yes, we do action that.
The set is good only thsoe pants are a bit oink.
A bit oink? I like that phrase, think I will use it…
So I take it you don’t like 70’s fashion? I find them kinda retro myself.
Hey guys!
No release date yet, but it looks REALLY promising right now. Not for next release though, I don’t want to get your hopes up and dash them on tuesday.
FWIW the programmer doing the fix is extremely meticulous and wants this to be 10000% right when it goes out. It is not an easy fix and it has been being worked on since it broke.
If we can all be patient just a little bit longer then we will have more Gods Walking Amongs Mere Morals in the future… but sadly one of them won’t be me.
Please read this post for what I think will be helpful information on the ways you can submit your entry.
If there is really a lot of stuff to change, maybe a v2/items2 endpoint would be a good idea? This way, it would be entirely entirely backwards-compatible at least.
I was just gonna go with /v2/itemz or /v2/shinies.
Yours is probably better though.
Created a tracking issue for ya.
It’s most definitely the content of your chat, not individual words. Filters are for people who don’t care to see the word; not for detecting inappropriate subject matter.
You said, “So I contacted the payment processor Digital River told them about my recurring issue and asked how to go about removing this flag on my card. They told me they didn’t know what I was talking about, were no longer affiliated with guild wars, have no record of the card transaction and highly recommend that I contact gw2 ’ s customer support.”
I’ve worked with Customer Support for years, and I have never seen such a response from Digital River and cannot understand why our partner would answer you, nor answer in such an inaccurate manner.
Please forward the complete e-mail thread with Digital River to Community@Arena.Net so that I can review it.
Note: You cannot purchase Guild Wars: Heart of Thorns through the Gem Store. The only option in the Gem Store would be the Digital Deluxe Upgrade, which is an upgrade to the expansion pack instead of the full expansion pack itself.
I don’t see a red tag on your name.
I’ve got one!!
You should block the account and then make no further attempt to interact with them directly or through a 3rd party (i.e. having a friend send an in-game mail).
If they continue to harass you submit a support ticket with as much detail as you can provide.
But this is no solution if a person put you on friend or blocklist and always knows when and where you are online. Why I’m not being displayed for a blocked person as always offline? The blocked person could not see my online status and also not the place where I am. Please change this
I agree that this is in need of a fix and we’ve asked for one. In the meantime; let me hunt ’em down for you. >=)
On another note, the attribute named “CritDamage” should now be “Ferocity” (since the April 2014 Feature Pack).
Example item: https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/items?ids=48075
“<c=@flavor>”
o_OOookay
I guess all ascended items have description with that tag which should add a class to HTML or something.
It’s more than ascended items — a lot of named items have flavor text too.
Be aware that the syntax for those “tags” is maddeningly loose; it’s not XML.
Like Peter Fries would say “A slight correction” XD
Aw, you guys knew which Southsun thing I meant. They kind of blur together now, because I worked on both Lost Shores and Secret of Southsun. ;P
Really? I never saw H-tron as a “sentient golem” rather following a simple programming: “find useful employment” and if that’s the case then o-tron was built without the sedative inhibitor that most golems possess.
I guess it’s open for interpretation, but he’s definitely had some unique experiences.
