Hey!
This was intended, we regularly have to make room for new sets.
There have been mentions of this since the December patch, but nothing concrete has come up. It doesn’t happen to many people.
Maybe there is something different about your hardware, or the type of match you were playing in, or the specific data attempting to be shown on the scoreboard.
Bra (80 Guard), Fixie Bow (80 Ranger), Wcharr (80 Ele)
Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
Uhh, I’m pretty sure that’s a bug. Right now we display items that have been looted or bought off the trading post. Should add “bought by a vendor” as another way to get on the whitelist.
There is a conversation going on about this, but no decisions have been made.
New build just went live that includes a fix for this issue, if you are still having problems please post.
Fixed
Have fun guys!
I take the optimistic “soon” reply to mean “whenever the next patch rolls around” (so about a week or two at most), especially since the bug seems to have been identified and fixed, just a matter of rolling it out.
“soon” is always a release
We try not to hotfix the game unless we have to, and usually we only hotfix during the week of a release. After that week it gets tougher.

To add on to what Xanatos mentioned, we will be extending prizes to top 64 instead of top 32 with this change. I’ll need to go over the rewards on Monday, but at a minimum, you can expect a Llama Mini for making it to the second round.
So I put the wrong email in the account part for the survey, is there a way to change that? :<
I don’t want to be kicked out of the contest just because I entered homail instead of aol on accident
Is there some one I can contact or am i just out of luck?
If you are one of the randomly-selected winners, I have a pretty good idea we’ll be able to reach you via the e-mail address you put. We may need information to verify that you have a Guild Wars or Guild Wars 2 account in good standing, but beyond that, I think we can synch that up and get you your prize. (The same applies to others who made have made the same error.)
I’ll be posting a list of winners (by display name) so that’s another way we can coordinate all the information to make sure the winners get their prizes.

Questions about regional/national eligibility have arisen in the past, so we have included an article in our Knowledge Base to address such questions: https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/28147436-Contests-and-Tournaments
It would be wonderful to be able to offer this contest is all areas of the world, but unfortunately, as explained, that simply is not something that we are able to do.

Am I eligible to participate in a Guild Wars 2 Contest or Tournament?
Each contest and tournament is bound by specific eligibility rules as outlined in the official announcement of the event on our website. Contest and tournament rules are reviewed by legal counsel in various regions in which we have access to such professional reviews. Residents of countries in which we do not have legal counsel are not eligible to participate. In addition, residents of a country, state, or province that has legal restrictions on such events likewise are ineligible to participate. If you are ineligible to participate in a contest or tournament, please check the rules for future events, as eligibility may change with an upcoming event.

The amulets will be rebalanced to compensate for the loss of stats originally gained from trait lines.
This is probably as good of a place as any to mention that we’ll also be using this opportunity to rebalance PvP’s celestial amulet to be slightly less effective. We’re probably looking at a 10%~ decrease in overall stats, but this number can change as we draw closer to releasing the core specialization changes.
Not quite a record, but pretty fast! I think ToL1 or ToL2 had something like 312 teams sign-up over the course of a month (so we have plenty of time to get there).
For ToL1, we were planning for 8 total teams and a contingency plan to extend to 16, haha.
Guild Wars was released on April 28, 2005. In celebration of this milestone, we’re offering a contest: 10 questions for the 10th Anniversary, with, you guessed it, 10 winners!
Prizes? Of course! We have some tasty Guild Wars swag we’ll be sending off to the winners, each of whom will be randomly selected from those who answer all 10 questions correctly.
Head over to our contest page here and take your best shot at the answers to questions based on Guild Wars history, from characters to geography, good guys to bad.
We’ll post the legal stuff (rules, eligibility info, etc.) in a forum post immediately below this invitation.
Now, don’t waste a minute! The contest ends at 11:59 PM Pacific Time on April 28, 2015!

Congrats fellow engineers. ^^
I love how they had to lax the ‘requirements’ for WvW rep because everyone that cares about WvW has been infracted at one point or another
The parameters for involvement in the program have not changed at all; we’ve simply made them clearer by expressing them outright. We have never had a “You must have a 100% perfect record” policy because we understand that the occasional slip of the fingers or overly-heated comment does not mean that someone would be a bad specialist.
Throw in a free GW2 T-shirt and I may consider.
How many gems does one get for “volunteering”? And don’t say none because we all know the answer is never none.
These are volunteer positions and do not involve compensation, that t-shirts or gems.
I would like to add that the new forum specialist should not be a known whiteknight nor a known whiner because in either case no improvements will be made. In one hand, there is no problem or improvements to be made to wvw and on the other hand everything is bad and the game os running to its doom. Please pick someone in between. Thank you.
If you can find the person that no one calls a “white knight” or a “whiner” I’d be amazed. There are few people who aren’t branded as one, or the other, or both!

I have updated the Forum Specialist thread and posted in WvW that we are seeking two (2) forum specialists for World-versus-World coverage.
We’re continuing the Fansite Specialist Program, which has brought and will continue to bring in a wealth of helpful feedback for the developers to review and consider as they are working on the existing game and on the Heart of Thorns expansion.

Oh and I liked the question where one of the answers was a misspelling. I had a professor that did that once on a true or false question where he spelled the name of a historic figure wrong by one letter and asked if the person was responsible for their creation. I looked at it for like 5 minutes trying to figure out if the professor made a typo. He didn’t and if you answered true you got the question wrong. Pure evil. HAHA
Evil? No, no, I assure you that was not the intention.

Wait, I can’t enter?
I just joined my first competitive team this week, and we’ve been testing comps and learning each others playstyles in ranked. Don’t quote me on this, but this week I believe we’ve only face 2 premades running the same guild tag, a few premade pugs (lol), and the rest have been pug groups.
I actually just posted on the forums looking for teams to scrim, because with such inconsistent matchmaking, we have no way to judge or skill level and improve. We don’t want to fight pugs. We’re queued kitten men on voice com, and we would like to fight another 5 man on voice com without having to spend hours on the forums :’c(Please don’t shoot meh down, Justin. Don’t tell everybody how noobish our team is and how perfect your algorithm is.)
Sorry, but I’ve got to shot yeh down, Boggs. Since we can’t detect voice coms, I can’t include it as a factor in matchmaking.
We do have some knobs that we can turn to increase competition for teams, but we have to be careful because a premade team does not always imply more skillful play.

Josh (Davis aka Grouch) is the messiah of pvp.
Here is Justin (ODell) , the wizard who programs your bad loot & and matchmaking. He can also cast a curse on you which does +400 ping.
Hey now… you can blame me for matchmaking, but I had nothing to do with loot.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
So excited! Brought back quite a few memories answering those questions.
Thanks Gaile!
Loved putting this together. I’m the biggest fan of our games, I swear, I get all sentimental at the drop of a hat. Well, a Guild Wars hat, anyway.
April 28th also happens to be my 42nd Anniversary… Both Hubby and I play GW2… Does this mean we get extra points?
Oh shucks, I don’t think there’s any way to do that. However, may I send major, major hugs to both of you? (My husband and I have been playing GW and GW2 together for about 13 years now!)

After hundreds and thousands of matches, it is very visible that your MMR system functions as this:
- Ten players que at the same time
- High MMRs are 10, low MMRs are 1
- The ten players qued look like this: 10, 6, 5, 4, 4, 3, 3, 2, 2, 1
- System tries to balance two teams from these MMRs
- Result looks like this -> RED: 10, 4, 3, 2, 1 --- BLUE: 6, 5, 4, 3, 2
This is not how the system works. The old solo queue worked like this, sort of.
You can find more details on matchmaking here:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Matchmaking_Algorithm
The current system is more likely to produce a result like this…
Red: 10, 5, 4, 3, 2
Blue: 6, 4, 3, 2, 1
Which could be argued is less fair, but really because MMR isn’t the only factor this is an oversimplification.

Some team members also have a separate account for official business, such as forum posting. (That’s the one I’m using right now.) A few of us have a third account for playing, but we use that account in such a way that we do not impact the game economy in any way. (This is super helpful for player events, and the “no economic impact” makes it clear we can’t come to an event and hand out precursors.
)
I think it’s safe to say that we all love the game!

Updated 23 April 2014:
We are currently seeking the following Forum Specialists:
Two (2) specialists to cover the World-versus-World Subforum
We feel that having two specialists, as we do for PvP, provides us with excellent feedback and offers a varied insight into the relevant subject.
If you are interested in learning more about the position, please see this this thread.

Hello! Your description suggests that you are using the Streaming Client. The circle icon you describe (see attachment 1) is used in a couple of different ways: in map loading screens it’s there to tell you the game is continuing to work on loading the map, elsewhere it is typically an indication that your client hasn’t downloaded a piece of content yet and that it is being streamed-in in the background.
If you are using the Streaming Client, can I ask you what your Content Streaming setting is currently set to? You can find this in the Options Panel (normally F11 or by clicking the gear icon found in the upper left). Scroll to the bottom of the General Options page. It’ll be under the heading Streaming. (Attachment 2.)
As an example of how it appears in the wardrobe, please see attachment 3.
If you are not using the Streaming Client, could you describe the inputs the game appears to be ignoring?

Our first WvW Forum Specialist has found that he is no longer able to continue in the program. The Forum Specialist Program involves volunteers, and we fully understand when other projects and real-life demands preclude someone’s ability to continue. We wish our departing WvW specialist well in the future, and thank him for his service.
We would like to reach out to the WvW Community to ask for volunteers to join the Fansite Specialist Program. You can read about the program on this post. Please pay special note to the two brief posts that follow in that thread. The first provides additional information about the specialists’ role and the second addresses the question of “If I have an infraction from 1954, am I disqualified from applying?”
If you have questions about the program, drop us a line at the address provided in the post.
We are committed to the FSP and look forward to hearing from members of the WvW playerbase who want to get more deeply involved in relaying player concerns and helping us make this exciting game mode even better.

I went to the Super Bowl this year (Patriots/Seahawks)!
The Seahawks were short two people, so they pulled me and another random person in from the stadium to play with them.
We did a great job, I had fun; but the other person didn’t. He didn’t know the plays, couldn’t hear the calls well, and couldn’t keep up with the others.
. . .
This analogy assumes we don’t do matchmaking when combining the 4 players with the 1. Since parties get a slight mmr bump, the solo players is often more skilled than the others. Yes, if those 4 are using voip or party chat, the solo will be left out of some planning, but there shouldn’t be a large skill discrepancy. This is the consequence of allowing any party size to queue, but in my opinion is far less of a problem than splitting up the community.

However why do i even have to WORRY about being matched vs premades while queuing solo?
The fact that im getting premades on both sides means that there are more flaws in the system, not less. Its just that for these past few games i happened to get the “better” premade or it would be more losses than that.
Why do you have to worry?
If a 4+1 versus a 4+1 is an even match, why shouldn’t we make it? There is no right or wrong answer here, just curious as you seem to not think this is a good idea.

I’ll answer your questions, because others might have them.
Here my question:
- can i get banned for sending stuff to guild mates, and after a couple days, they return the stuff (replacing what i send them, usually time gated stuff)?
I don’t see how you would get banned for this.
[i]- can i get banned for crafting stuff on my alt account and sending the result to my main account (i got one alt account from discount back in HoT’s announcement)?
If this is specifically the case, no.
- can i get banned if i played on internet cafe which happen to have another GW2 player?
Yes. This is more of a situation of a shared network where users that are on the same network may catch a ban by association if one of the accounts running on that network is bad. Generally this can be cleared up on appeal, but it’s been known to happen.
- can i get banned if i send 10-200g donation to fellow guild member via guild bank for server transfer purpose?
Not likely to happen, it’s very possible that if you do for a large number of users you may get flagged for review, but it’s very unlikely that we would not be able to pick up on your actions immediately.
- in case i got banned after this post, can i get know reason ( and what do i have to do, to get explanation of my account termination), or it’s strictly Arena Net’s employee only?
There are “extreme” cases where someone may get their account banned for posting on the forums, but forums and game access are seperate, they very rarely talk to eachother about bans.
- what are stuff i do, that Arena Net can categorize as RMT (obviously i know selling and buying gold is illegal, i even block and report people for that)?
Yah, I’m not going to answer that question. Sorry, but it’s very safe to say if you are RMT, you kow you are RMT.
Here’s a good read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_economy
As for this:
“I am feeling lazy today, a ticket just in, another RMT appeal case, the system algorithm quite accurate, no need for further investigation, here down the ban hammer, say good bye to all your hard works, we don’t care what you’ve DONE or NOT DONE, after all, no loss on our side.”, is what i speculate is in concerned party’s mind.
What?
