Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
Looking at your game history over the last few days, there were only two games you lost where the enemy team had a larger party than was on your team.
Remember that when you solo queue, the rest of YOUR team could be in a party, and you were paired with an equal opposing team. Also, checking for players that queued together by attempting a party invite will at best reveal they are paired with a single other person. Players could have even partied after joining a match.

btw, who uses Turrets in WvW?
Static discharge builds.
I like how you are being cheeky when you have no idea what you are talking about.
SD build isn’t a turret build. They use Rifle turret toolbelt skill, not the rifle turret.
1v1 me bruv!
On a serious note, you should also be using your rifle turret (or any turret in an SD build) for damage purposes . Detonate turret does a flat 1200 damage on instant cast and can be used in succession with Surprise Shot. If you’re using Accelerant Packed Turrets, which you probably are, it’s also an additional CC during your burst combo.
There’s a good guide here if you need more information: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Engineer_-_Static_Discharge
1st question does this mean your ama is for pvp only and there will be a pve/WvW one as well ? if no to that question can you please move the thread some where so the general community can see it. Thanks in advance.
Got pulled into a meeting before I finished duplicating the thread. There’s now a thread in general, WvW, and PvP.
Hi all,
Tomorrow I’ll be hosting a multi-hour AMA session with members of the design team where we’ll be focusing on deep-diving the newly announced specialization system. As part of this, we’ll also be giving you a first look at the reworks of traits, including a number of skill/mechanic changes that will be going live with this system. We have a lot of stuff to talk about. This also means we’ll be going over every single trait in their current iteration in our development environment. I’ll be pulling your questions out of Twitch chat, this forum post, and posts all over the forums and having our design team address them.
You can find more information on the specialization changes (part one) here: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/specializations-part-one-a-primer/
Tomorrow’s livestream will start at 12pm PST at http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2

smsteel, I dont like your idea. I dont want guild officers spy on me.
They can already spy on you using the in-game functionality :P
One of my guild leaders even makes daily charts of his members to track in-game intra-guild engagement to determine how effective their events are and how often they need to run events to maximize turnouts. It’s a lot of manual labor to copy all of the data out of the game and into a spreadsheet. The API additions wouldn’t give any data that isn’t already available, it would just make it much, much easier to use.
So is Arenanet OK for us to request 69645 items one by one to find the type we want?
Should be fine, though you’ll spend less time if you request whole pages, e.g., enumerate starting from /v2/items?page=0&page_size=200 and look at the response headers (e.g., X-Page-Total) to see how many pages there are.
This will currently take you ~206 requests, which is a lot, but shouldn’t be more than a minute or two to pull down and ingest into e.g., a database.

I play on both my official and personal accounts
. You can spot me from time to time playing with my official account on FR servers. That being said, I tend to spend more time playing on my personal one because I happen to be guild mistress (I believe you know how much commitment being GM requires
).
Score: 230
Time: 45.64s
Coins: 20/24 coins
I play a charr guardian and I always play incognito on my private account. I enjoy exploration and WvW. I play on NA servers because that is where my (non-ArenaNet) guilds are located and playing on NA servers is better suited to my time zone and physical location.
I have a different account I use for work, and that one is almost always tagged up with the ArenaNet guild name on it. That work account uses a low-level charr character, not my aforementioned main, which is also pictured below.
that was a surprise
I see your evidence with all professions: I have 1 question to ask you Arena net: RubiBayer: Do Arena net have any plans to adjust the not challenge professions to make them challenge and fun? Like adjust their traits?
Since you addressed me specifically, I can say with certainty that no, I personally have no plans to adjust any professions for any reason. Trust me, you do not want me fiddling with any game code. Ever. It would be bad. :P
Most of us play, but very often on private accounts.
For example:
So many humans, so few charr
Why do you think there are so many armor art issues with charr?
You also don’t want me having anything to do with armor art. I’m also not an artist. (For what it’s worth, though, there’s a charr engineer in my lineup. She just didn’t make it into the main panel. )

A few notes:
- You can cleanse conditions from turrets.
- You cannot heal turrets – nothing has changed in this area. (The exception of course being Thwack, Whack, Smack, and Autotool Installation.
- While boons do not currently affect turrets, this is something we might consider changing in the future depending on how the changes I mentioned in my original post pan out.
will poison reduce healing from tool autos / autotool installation?
Autotool – yes. I haven’t tried tool kit auto yet. I don’t QA per say, but I tend to play with changes quite a bit to get a feel for them.
Is there at least a roughish time frame for moving away from OAuth? Months? Weeks? Even the roughest time frame will help me decide if I should implement this temporarily with OAuth, or if I should just hold off until the new method is ready.
Probably within weeks. I’m still working on a migration strategy, but I’m hoping to post the full details of the new system and the transition late this week or early next week.
The rule-of-thumb I use for determining on whether an API would be appropriate is “is this information already available in-game?”. This isn’t really a hard-and-fast rule, but for the time being, partial drop tables aren’t something I think we can expose.
I bet that guy dug through game files or with a packet sniffer to find out those links. They werent given in any api (since i remember). Reverse code engineering isnt the cleanest way to get those needs …
The Trading Post is just a HTML+Javascript web application; back then you could pretty easily read the source to it and figure out how to make the appropriate AJAX requests. We’ve changed how the application communicates to the backend servers though, so it’ll hopefully be a bit more difficult now.
However they currently seem to rework the authentitication mechanism that is needed for a full qualified guild API. I guess this has a higher priority at the moment.
I agree with you that the API is limmited but I think it is better than nothing.
This is pretty much it; we’ve got a pile of stuff in the works, but it’s currently blocked by the new authentication bits. I know the functionality we provide today is currently very limited, but rest assured, we’re working on it.
Something horrible happened; it should be fixed now.
Might still be a bit of downtime for some images as Amazon CloudFront’s cache sorts itself out (not sure why they’re caching Cache-Control: no-cache responses, though, orz).
So I just got hit with this gold stripping Idea….
Sold a friend some skins, he sent me gold, Anet took gold.
Anet worried about losing Gem sales, I buy 50 bucks of gems every fortnight, But I wont be doing that again until my gold is returned, ty.
Your “friend” was a hacked account being operated by RMT, commited fraud, and is now locked because of it.
A few notes:
The forums are not for reporting players in violation of the Rules of Conduct or terms of use. To report any instances of cheating, griefing, hacking, or exploiting, please use the in-game report tool or open a ticket with Customer Support.
I’ve tried out all the classes to various degrees, and yes, every class has strong melee builds. Honestly my favorite class to play melee has been Sword/Dagger Ranger, (Greatsword was also pretty good). Your natural skill rotation causes you to stick to them very well, you just have to be careful to not accidentally go flying off a cliff. A lot of people find that really frustrating so you’ll just have to try everything out and see what you like.
If you haven’t already, you can enter the PvP lobby with any character and try out builds. So go ahead and make characters that you think might be interesting and see how it feels for yourself in heart of the mists.
Are you running full screen or windowed? Also that’s not how VRAM works, check this out http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/198568-the-video-ram-information-guide/

^^
What they said
Lawton should be back tomorrow to take a look, I have a few suspicions but no time to run them down ATM.
I’m stepping in here now. I think perhaps that Lauren’s recent involvement — for which I know we’re all grateful! — may have put her in the line of fire, just a bit.
So let’s figure this out. The fact that we have a QA Lead posting about various issues is a real boon, but comments like “explain your thought process” and “give us more information,” or “we expect this immediately!” are utterly counterproductive.
We like knowing more, here in Forumsland. We like getting the information that a bug is a known issue, that something is on the slate for correction, that the devs need additional information to reproduce the problem, or — happy days! — that a fix is coming.
Players like to know this stuff.
We like to tell you this stuff.
Even if the most we can say is “soon” and not “at 11:54 AM on XX date.”
The solution to nearly all game bugs involves multiple people. That means that Tom may have worked his bit, but Mary may need to do the next step, or Fred might need to step in later down the pipeline. This means it’s usually not possible to give you a precise time for a fix. Not because we won’t, but because we can’t.
So ask yourself: What’s better — some information or nothing at all?
If, like me, you like to know that something is known and is being worked on, that this is a far greater comfort than hearing nothing at all, then please consider:
)(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
I do apologize for the increased negative tone in my comments, but after checking the instance every single day and checking the forums several times a day for over a month, it starts to get to me.
It’s ok, I understand. It’s frustrating on our end as well.
- Players may only play in one Tournament of Legends. Any use of an alternate account to circumvent this rule will result in a ban from future tournaments (from news post)
- You may not be on more then one roster for this event (Period.)
Does this mean I can only play in one ToL ever? Like if i join now in tol3 i cant play in future tol4?
Or is just to prevent poeple getting multiple rewards by playing/subbing for multiple teams?
You can only compete in one region, essentially. You can totally play in ToL4 in the future if you play in ToL3.
btw, who uses Turrets in WvW?
Static discharge builds.
Will Necromancer staff Marks activate under Turrets? Or is Staff going to be useless vs Turrets with exception to it’s non-condition causing auto-attack?
Marks don’t trigger on turrets unless there’s something else like a pet or player in the AoE radius. This has been the case for a long time, but that doesn’t mean it’s not something we wouldn’t possibly change.
Will boons and AoE healing also apply to turrets like other minions?
Turrets will not be able to receive boons.
So, fear, taunt, chill, cripple, and weakness. Can we get a breakdown on what the expected effects on turrets will be?
Confusion and Torment questions too?
Will fear cause interrupts and prevent a turret from firing during the condition?
Taunt won’t cause some infinite fire rate glitch due to no recharge on the turret attack skills right? Purely speculation
Is cripple going to be useless or do something like half distance on attacks?
Is chill going to slow the firing rate? Reduce attack range?
Will weakness cause fumble on turrets? Will confusion apply PvE damage to turrets?
Will torment only apply the min damage, while turrets are rotating will it apply extra damage?
There won’t be any new special cases for turrets that receive conditions. The effects that happen them will match what you’d expect to happen to players. For example, blinding a turret will means that their next attack will miss. Weakness (fumble) will work on turrets. Applying confusion to turrets will cause them to take damage when they attack.
For the most part chill, cripple, and immob wouldn’t have much effect on the turret. For chill, turret cooldown skills are tied to the engineer’s skill bar, not the turret itself. Torment will always tick at its lowest rate since they don’t run (lack of wheels is intended).
Regarding fear, turrets have never been susceptible to CC, and they will continue to be immune to CC. Applying fear to a turret will not cause it to stop attacking. However, if you’re a necromancer with the Terror trait equipped, you will do fear damage to the turret.
Will Turret run in fear when I fear them?
Nope. While they’ll definitely receive the fear condition, they’ll stand their ground.
That’s awesome to hear they’ll be vulnerable to conditions!
My concern is with buffing turrets to be able to crit. The way many turret engis spec now, turrets deal plenty of damage just between rifle turret and rocket turret. I feel that allowing turrets to crit may be abused and the balance will backlash because people will cry TURRETS ARE DOING MORE DAMAGE NOW.
You’re misinterpreting the post, but you’re not the first. I’ll edit my original post to be more clear.
Engineer turrets themselves cannot crit, but they will be able to receive crits from other players/NPCs.
If this bug was as easy as “boom it happens” this thread wouldn’t be 14 pages long. There is something else happening, and that “something” isn’t clearly defined, likely because nobody knows what it is, and is the catalyst for the bug. That’s what we’re working on and it’s why I posted so you wouldn’t feel as if you’re being ignored.
Wait a moment, is this comment for the unforgiving infiltration, or the other unpredictable seemingly random challenge mote issues?
Sorry, the others. Not Unforgiving Infiltration.
Proposed changes for turrets can be found here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/Proposed-Changes-for-Engineer-Turrets/first
Locking this thread.
Does the fact that they’ll be able to critically hit mean that their base damage is also reduced, for instance, should I be afraid of 4k crits from Rocket turret because it’s base damage is slightly above 1k?
The change means they will be able to receive critical hits, not give them.
Hi all,
As a follow-up to my post from last Friday, I wanted to give you a run-down of the changes we’re looking to make to the engineer’s turrets:
Considering most minions/summoned pets are already susceptible to the aforementioned changes we feel that this is a fair way to bring turrets more inline with the rest of the game. These changes should only slightly affect the viability of turrets in PvE/WvW (low creature crit chance/condition application), while providing for more counterplay against turrets.
We’d love to hear your feedback on these changes. Feel free to respond below with your comments.

You should always take a “soon” as an “on a release day” once the bug has been fixed. I don’t have control over when the fixes happen, I just see them in the pipeline working their way on out to live…

Hi all,
Trying to achieve the Lavish Llama at the current rate would be, as someone aptly noted, madness! The good news is, next week will bring some concrete details on how you can start earning them at a much more rapid pace through participating in select tournaments.
-Josh
Could this be… the return of in-game tournaments? HYPE!
All tournaments are already in-game. :P
When I said select tournaments, I mean our community events.
(edited by Josh Davis.6015)
While I don’t think the OP’s suggestion is exactly the change we’re going to go with, I thought I’d drop by and let you all know that the effectiveness of turret engineer is something we’re looking into very closely right now. Once our plans are a bit more concrete I’ll give an update.
Have a good weekend,
Grouch

And the reward for winning wvw week after week is …drumroll….6 greens after you make 3 more wvw levels.
Maybe Josh can take a look at the wvw achievements and fix those too…
you can blame Josh for a LOT of things, but don’t blame him for WvW or the rewards.
With that said, Weeks of busting your butts for rewards you can easily get by spending 5mins in Silverwaste.
Awww, thanks fo…..
Wait…
All shall be forgiven if you can pass that WvW achievement nudge onto the right people though? right….right?! 1,000,000 objectives is probably even more madness than 27 llamas :/
Hmmm, the Lavish Llama will now require 1,000,000 Mini Llamas.

will there still be a way to access something like those oauth offline-tokens? that is essential for my plans.
if not, that would be even sadder
Yes, API keys do not expire unless the user revokes them.
When someone sends you a PM, report him or her. Hit the ! (exclamation point) in the lower left of the message and send it over for review.
If everyone would take this simple step before deleting and blocking, the team would be able to make significant reductions in spammers! It’s fast. It’s effective. It’s appreciated.
I would imagine that implementing a “Do not disturb” function is something that would be complicated and time consuming. I don’t anticipate that it’s a system we’ll see in the near future, and we may never see such an option. Keep in mind, though, that we already have a means for you to handle these situations: report, block, delete. And using “invisible,” while not ideal, is another means at your disposal.

The bug is fixed and the pack is good to go now.
Thanks for waiting.
The challenge motes are fixed? For real? If so, awesome!
So sorry, my communication was poor there. The issue that prevented the sale of the Series 2 Complete Pack was resolved, so it can be sold again. The challenge motes issue is still under investigation.
It’s available again.
Thanks for posting that, Bomber. It is available, and the previous issue has been corrected.
I wanted to update this thread to say that the previous issue was addressed and the Living World Season 2 Complete Pack is now available.
Thanks for your patience.
