paulusp.4309 — our GM lead just responded to update this ticket, and once you answer we’ll be able to move forward on this for you!
My main is a female charr (guardian), too!
Here are a couple of recent screenshots of my character:
My guess is Bobby got his wife to do the new voice parts, which scored him many brownie points with ANet for saving money and wife-points by getting his wife to be a star.
No, it’s the same voice actress, just using a less energetic tone and inflection.
Correct. The change in tone matches up with a sequence of events.
the convo has gotten completely off topic.

I agree.
We’re going to try moving Tocatl away from Ol’ Stinky on the 18th to see if that fixes what we think might be the cause of this bug… for now hold off on more reports. If you still see that Tocatl is disappearing after our February 18th release, then please let us know the server and the time. We’ll figure this out! /shakes fist
No. If you have concerns about the forums, moderation, and staff, you should email forums@arena.net.
~snip~
Please ArenaNet please make this a usable game for us
Hear you loud and clear. It’s great there’s a fix on the way. And we know that you guys will update us on how it works for you. I’m impressed with the Mac GW 2 community and know that, even when a situation is heated, you guys come through with valuable information that helps us a ton.
Thank you for the update, Gaile!
Please relay our appreciation to the Devs for their work on this issue.
I will do that. They sit near me, and it’s nice to see them busy at work on stuff that you guys want and need.
+1 wins for Gaile.

I checked Thick Leather Sections are only 2169 Items
Sandwichmancer of course.
And it’s super OP right now.
Our apologies. Much of what we do is a very manual process and sometimes it takes a couple of hops to get it to the right place.
What do you guys take from your occasional moments in sPvP however ? Which metrics ? Which impressions ? Any recent examples ?
I love the game, but I have many of the same complaints as any of the other players on the forum. I was getting trolled pretty hard by Hugh the other day… hambow is pretty OP, has nothing to do with him being better than me.
You playing warrior? or sin?
I play lock-down mesmer and a Teldo engineer build, in that order.
Do you get to play on company time, though? I’d think it would count at least a bit as working since it keeps you aware of how things are on the live servers.
Yep! We do.
That’s just not true. They actually have stated multiple times already that they don’t have any extra-commands on the live-servers; at the very least not any commands that give them items and stuff. They are pretty much playing like we all are; except that they’ve got that logo while representing the anet-guild.
This is correct. Our characters on the live servers are just like all other characters except for our tags. No commands. These are our personal play accounts.
Moving to front page, since there’s a year-around “phishing season.” :-/
well
seems that I missed something….
even though both children have guild wars 2, that does NOT mean they have an nc soft account….
so – waiting for the games to arrive – i managed to track down two full versions of the game on disk – and will then log into their nc soft accounts and add guild wars..
may I humbly suggest that it is put in big letters that you do not have an nc soft account, even if you do have a guild wars 2 account….
I’m glad this sorted out ok for you. The fact is, not that many GW2 players have an NC Account and an NC Account is not tied to Guild Wars 2 — they stand separately, even if Guild Wars (the original) was linked to the old NCMA (NCSOFT Master Account, then changed to NC Account). I see your point — people might want to know “Hey, if you have an NC Account that’s not how you get into GW2!” I will ask around and see if that’s something we can somehow add in the future.
o_O Where to people come up with this stuff?
ALL of us play PvP. Though, I’ll give you that I’m no where near as good as Powerr, Grouch, Roy, Hugh, and Tyler. I’m pretty sure they’ve all made it to the top 100.
I play on Isle of Janthir, and you can usually find me in Solo Arena as Flux or Aegir.
Ok, here’s a new update to the update:
The devs have developed a fix that should address certain performance issues you have been posting about, and that fix will be rolled out after testing is completed.
That’s not months from now, by the way. Testing is underway!
I am checking on both the ticket interface questions and the response given, as well. (I suspect, paulusp, that the agent is going through normal process and the suggestion makes sense to me, but I’ll check.)
Are we listing classes that need Balancing or Development Time?
Because I think the number tweaks between classes are largely okay. But there are definitely certain classes that have clunkier gameplay, lackluster utility choices, awkward traitlines, buggy or buggy-seeming performance, etc.
Dev time!
in this case, i think people voting ele should think about their vote. eles dont need much dev time to revamp the profession and its mechanics. eles require more balancing.
If it just needs balancing that is ok too. Anything we do is dev time.
Basically, I want people to think ‘what class would I never play right now because it’s just not viable’ and list the top 3. That goes for all game types.
I took the liberty and counted ALL votes till svracak.9671. You guys are just too fast for me.
As it stands the results are now:
Elementalist: 230 Votes (22.66%)
Necromancer: 162 Votes (15.96%)
Engineer: 132 Votes (13.00%)
Guardian: 13 Votes (1.28%)
Warrior: 29 Votes (2.86%)
Thief: 74 Votes (7.29%)
Ranger: 299 Votes (29.46%)
Mesmer: 76 Votes (7.49%)
Total: 1015 Votes (100%)If there is any interest I could give numbers on how often a profession was ranked 1. etc.
This is awesome. I was going to do this at the end, but it’s cool to keep an updated list like this. Thanks for taking the time to do that! How often a profession is ranked 1 would also be super awesome.
Given the input/output of materials and their value to players I would hypothesize that players find many outputs of crafting worthwhile for one reason or another.
An example, I pulled the approximate amount of crafting materials destroyed in the time I took to read this post and the number I received was 136,909 items. There’s a high demand and velocity of crafting materials, which I would say is good evidence that there must be something to do with those crafting materials.
MinoBG — I am sorry your friend is having difficulties, but what these good folks have said is accurate. The best thing is for the account owner — your friend — to contact Support if the game was purchased new and fully sealed. (I’ve known of a few unscrupulous resellers to replace the shrinkwrap on a box after the serial code has been used, but fortunately those situations are very rare.)
Am I correct, when I advised that in such situations one can always contact support to verify that the key is allready claimed by someone else and that the ‘new/faulty owner’ didn’t goof something up?? or is the stance for support that if he gets this error message, the account is secondhandbeyond doubt, and that he got scammed?
I also could imagine (you know I have a huge imagination -wink- ) that support would like to know the source, to track down people using your product as a scam on a professional level.
I said “If the game was new and sealed, then please have your friend contact Support.” Clearly, if someone purchased the game from a used game store, we cannot help. But for new games, of course we’ll do what we can.
If that is confusing, please let me know so I can add more information.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Hey everyone,
For our upcoming CDI projects, we would like to collect your ideas for professions that need balancing. Since there are 8 professions, we would like to do one at a time and would like you to vote on which one comes first.
Please pick the three professions that you feel need the most help right now and list them in order of priority like so:
Example
1. Profession1 (this needs the most help by far)
2. Profession2 (this needs help, but not more than 1)
3. Profession3 (this needs help, but not more than 1 & 2)Please keep your post to just your 3 votes. If you have any questions, you may ask them here as well.
We will collect the information at the end of the day tomorrow (5:00pm pacific), so make sure to get your vote in before then!
Thanks!
You phrased the question in such a way that people are going to answer with professions which are in the worst shape (meaning underpowered and/or poor mechanics).
However, in order to achieve balance, wouldn’t it also make sense to ask what professions people feel are over the top (too powerful / synergy too stong)?
What if you have a situation where profession X, Y, and Z need the most help, but really it only appears that way because profession A is so overpowered it keeps X and Y from being more widely accepted?
For example, in tPvP, Mesmers and elementalists are nigh non-existent, but that’s actually because thief is so overpowered for that role, elementalists and mesmers have no place in the meta.
In PVE, elementalists are actually really awesome for dungeons, but are far outclassed by warriors because warriors are so overpowered for dungeons.
In WvW, elementalists are good in zergs, but again, warriors are simply better (leaving ele’s relegated to glorified might stackers).
Also, isn’t the primary objective of the balance team to kitten the profession balance in the game and make adjustments to achieve balance? Why do they need our input? Isn’t that kind of like the car manufacturer asking me where he should put the airbags?
Generally speaking, it’s not hard for us to find out or know what builds are over the top. Obviously, we need to find a good middle ground to encourage people to play underused classes while balancing out the classes that are a little too dominant.
Balancing is difficult because it affects all areas of the game. This is more to get an idea of what class you guys feel is hurting the most right now, and fix it where it’s hurting. That’s not to say it will be the only thing we work on, we just want to make sure that your feedback is being heard, so we had to find a way to get it more specific and take it one step at a time.
Are we listing classes that need Balancing or Development Time?
Because I think the number tweaks between classes are largely okay. But there are definitely certain classes that have clunkier gameplay, lackluster utility choices, awkward traitlines, buggy or buggy-seeming performance, etc.
Dev time!
Hey Danicia, since you are so nice to care about the well being of our discussions here in this sub-forum, could you try to include in your daily report to ask the devs to give us a bit of attention?
This is absolutely doable.
Here is what I learned:
Gem cards like the one you wanted to purchase from Best Buy are powered by a third party, and that company requires that each card be activated at the register. So yes, the cards are authenticated at the point of sale at the register and they must be activated by the clerk. If the store clerk cannot activate them at the register then they will not activate at all. (And we can’t activate them from our end, I’m sorry to say.)
There have been issues with the cards activating fully at the point of sale (the store) even when the store believes the authentication/activation was successful. Fortunately, those situations are very rare. Our Billing Team agent has never heard of a case where the authentication or activation “times out” at the store register. However, when that happens, the retailer is supposed to contact the activation company, and each store should have their contact information on hand in order to get assistance with the activation issue.
I am sorry that the store didn’t pursue this further. I would suggest you contact the store manager and perhaps he or she can figure out a way to sell you a gem card. Alternately, you might consider buying through our Gem Store directly, if that’s a possibility for you and meets your needs.
I am sorry that you have had this hassle, and I hope it sorts out for you ok!
Only 2Gb of ram may be a problem
This helped me solve the problem.
Turns out I in fact have 2x 2GB, but one became nonfunctional because the computer hasnt been touched in 6 months.
Must have been dirty or something, so I plugged them both out and back in and cleaned the computer. Now both work again and the game runs smoothly as ever.
Thanks!
Oh that’s great that you were able to get things running properly. Thanks for the help, XFlyingBeeX and sirsquishy!
Welcome aboard!
Just so you know, I don’t dip in here to do a meaningless “feel good” post and then disappear, considering that’s the end of the matter. As I have said — and I do wish we were in a position to speak in more detail, but that’s not possible quite yet — being relatively quiet does not mean the team is inactive on the Mac issues that concern you. Quite the contrary.
Edit: I had asked for player updates about this situation, but got one from the devs, instead. So no need to post about the FPS situation after all. Please see note two posts below for good news!
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
I realize that the real world (brick & mortar store) purchase of gem cards is not handled by ANet, but not sure where else to post this …
About half an hour ago I attempted to buy a Gem Card at Best Buy. Everything went smoothly until the end of the transaction, when authentication of the gem card failed, apparently because the connection to where ever that authentication is handled timed out on the store register.
Was this a one-of, or is there an ongoing issue with IRL purchases? I’m some distance from a store that sells the cards, so I can’t just bop down there on a whim.
I am sorry that this happened to you. I am not quite sure how authentication of the gem card works at the point of sale, so let me investigate that and I’ll respond when I find out more.

Here’s handy info about world transfers: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World#Transferring
Hi Gygsi,
First, I’d check to make sure all necessary TCP ports for Guild Wars 2 are totally open and accessible both inbound and outbound. If that doesn’t work, try looking for an application on your system called “Relevant Knowledge” and disable or remove it. This application has been known to cause this specific error.

Hey there,
The first thing I would like you to do is update the Root Certs on your computer by following the steps below:
1. Close out of Guild Wars 2 if you have it running.
-Hold down the Windows button on the keyboard and hit the R key.
-Paste in the following line and then click OK.
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2
Delete the local.dat file located here.
2. Download the program from the link below:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/rootsupd.exe
3. Run the program. You will probably have to click `run’ or `allow’ a couple times, but after that, nothing will appear.
If you run the program and nothing happends that’s ok, it is as it should be.
4. Reboot your computer.
5. Open the Game Client and try to access the trading post.
If you are still having issues, I would like you to delete the temporary cache for Guild Wars 2.
To do this:
1. In Windows, press the “Start” button and locate the “Search programs and files” bar at the bottom of the start menu.
2. Type in temp exactly as shown. (With the precent signs)
3. Press “Enter” and a new window should appear with the location of “C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp”
4. Locate the folder labeled “gw2cache-{RANDOM NUMBERS} and delete it.
After doing this, please try running Guild Wars 2 again.
Hope this helps!
Hi there,
That would be an in-game issue and not a technical issue. Technical Support issues are for computer hardware related issues.
Every class but ranger and nécro.
it doesn t surprise me anymore that is srill a broken class. Who cares? Not dev….
Hanging out on my necro with friends.
Hi All,
In summary we will be doing the following changes to best working practices around the CDI based on this discussion:
1: I will ask collaborators to discuss and propose points succinctly.
2: I will build a ‘suggested’ template for the format of proposals.
3: We will do broader advertising of the CDI topics so more community members are aware.
4: I will post specific dates for the start and end of CDI topics.
5: We will not let topics run and run. (To be honest I am quite disappointed with much of the commentary being way of topic over the last few pages and this is due to me leaving the thread open when it had run its course.)
6: We will reassess Topic determination after the next round of CDI topics.
7: Where possible we will try to run CDI topics concurrently.
8: I will discuss the creation of a sub forum for CDI with the Community team.
9: Posts will be removed moving forward if they are not pertinent to the topic of the CDI.
10: CDI Topics will be less broad in order to ensure a more focused discussion.
11: I will (when I get some time) update our existing CDI threads with details about impact on the live game in the summary/proposal section. Thanks once again for your input and passion toward Guild Wars 2 and in this specific case the CDI.
We now know the topics for the next round of CDIs and I will publish these on Friday.
Chris

I will be closing and stickying the thread shortly. Thanks for all your support and commitment to making the game better.
I will announce the new topics tomorrow!

Also, in the meantime, if you turn on Autoloot in options this bug doesn’t seem to occur.

Hi Tyrian,
Do you happen to have updated crash logs? You had said that this is a brand new computer you’re playing on but one, we’re seeing the AMD card in the logs, and two, the logs that you did provide are pretty outdated:
—> Crash <—
Exception: c0000005
Memory at address 137480c9 could not be written
App: Gw2.exe
Pid: 1080
Cmdline:
BaseAddr: 00400000
ProgramId: 101
Build: 17121
When: 2013-03-17T12:08:28Z
Uptime: 0 days 0:47:59
Flags: 0
Specifically, you can see the latest date on the report is from March 17th, 2013 (the most recent crash errors are at the bottom).
Be sure you’re looking in the following location for the crash logs so we can have the most up to date information regarding your system otherwise you’re going to get troubleshooting steps irrelevant to your issue:
1. Hold down the Windows button on the keyboard and hit the R key.
2. Paste in the following line: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2
3. Click “OK.”
Once here you just need to locate the ArenaNet.log file.
Welcome aboard!
Hi there,
Are you behind a router at all? If so, have you tried simply bypassing the router and connecting directly to your modem via Ethernet cable? If you’ve got a modem/router combo, you might want to try disabling your SPI Firewall.
Hope this helps!
Hey there,
This is a known issue that I can only advise submitting a bug report about or posting on the bug forums. We don’t have an ETA for a fix, but I can only advise playing with the “Normal” UI for the time being.
Sorry about that!
Hi sly nightmare,
What sort of system specs are you working with? Specifically, CPU, GPU, RAM, and OS. Once we know what kind of hardware you’ve got, it’ll be easier to provide you with a few suggestions.
No. Get back on topic.
(edited by CC Danicia.1394)
We’ve got a fix coming for this.
We’ve got a fix for this issue coming in the next release.
Agreed. It’s not entirely trivial to change, but it’s something I’d like to do.
Because members of Destiny’s Edge are so entwined with your Personal Story as well as the over-arching story with Zhaitan, and because the Living World plot lines are taking place at the same time all those other story threads, we couldn’t have the members of Destiny’s Edge splitting themselves between these other areas and what was going on with Living World. This is partly why we introduced these new characters.
I hope you folks are seriously not considering the LS is happening at the same time as the Personal Story, and this is just a slip up on the post. I also would hope that everyone on the team can get this stuff straight so that this confusion doesn’t happen.
What Regina means is that for players who are currently going through their Personal Story, the LW timeline will seem to be happening at the same time. Technically, they happen at different times in Tyrian history. Personal Story predates the current Living World season by approximately one year.
So when you’re playing your Personal Story and are in an instance with Rytlock, etc. the assumption is that this is happening “in the past” whereas LW events are happening now.
Our hope is to provide better distinction of these timelines within the game, but that would come with the release of a planned feature that we’re not ready to discuss in depth just yet.
Hello Allie, I think the game mode and build for the class should be specified when doing these votes to make things easier
Greek.4396, our plan is to ask for game mode during the actual CDI when asking for what specific changes should be made.
So far, I’m seeing that it’s pretty unanimous that people think Elementalist and Ranger need the most help in all areas. If we get to the point where people feel there are classes that only need help in certain areas, we can change it up.
Thanks for the suggestion!
This will be fixed in the upcoming release.
