Seems opposite to what we discussed in my previous post. Thus, I am a bit confused.

This is correct. I am suggesting a word limit count on discussions around proposals not on the proposals themselves. Although I would suggest we keep them concise where possible.

The reason being is that if folks use the format i have suggested it is going to be easier to read and understand regardless of post count. However discussion posts tend to be walls of text that can be extremely inaccessible and I do not want to put formatting constraints on discussions posts.

Does this make more sense?

So…first post is limited (if it’s the first time the idea [Proposal] has been offered), and the other posts are not so strictly limited.

That’s cool, though I am not sure that helps the problem people find with trying to keep up with CDIs and the walls-o-text they seem to have.

My honest opinion on this is probably not something that will be taken on board, but in the interests of feedback, I’ll give it anyway. We are running the risk of going overboard with the analysing and bureaucracy of these CDI’s now, with more threads for disssecting and now formatting than the CDI’s.

The CDI’s are really useful things, but this isn’t a corporate boardroom or an English essay exam where we need to go overboard on the red tape. This is a community forum, where anyone should be encouraged to post constructive and concise feedback in a way that they feel comfortable doing so. After a hard day’s work, many are just going to be put off by these new rules and either ignore them or just not post.

The CDI’s are fantastic things, lets get back to them – they worked pretty well as they were imo. Lets let the discussion flow freely with less restraints (albeit with the odd direction as they were before).

Please understand i am not trying to add more hoops to jump through. By being more succinct through spending more time thinking about proposals and reducing them to their core we gain higher accessibility for those that do not have the time to read a wide variety of different formats of lengthy posts. It also allows the developers more time to be able to engage and collaborate and in turn increases the quality proposition of the CDI in general.

I think it showed in the previous analysis threads where ppl thought they were the feedback threads and started posting feedback, that the process IS getting more confusing. Whether it is intended to make it more complex or add more hoops, the perception exists to some parts of the community.

And you are welcome…I eagerly await the final installment!

I think in practice it will be less confusing. If it doesn’t work we won’t use it.

The biggest issue we have is time, so if we can improve the balance of reading time vs. problem solving then we will be much more valuable to the game. This isn’t a subjective comment as I am talking from experience (-:

  • Fixed a triggering issue that prevented events from restarting.
  • Fixed a crash with the Looking for Group UI.
  • Fixed a server crash.
  • Fixed a scripting issue that caused escort events to become stuck.
  • Fixed a bug in which achievements were using incorrect numbers for tracking.
  • The asura gate from Fort Trinity in Vigil Keep now correctly allows players to exit the gated area by approaching the door.
  • The permanent Captain’s Airship Pass item has had its rarity increased to rare.
  • Fixed an issue in which the Powerful Potion of Slaying Scarlet’s Armies was causing players to take additional damage from Scarlet’s forces.
  • The inventory window no longer slowly grows when opened and closed repeatedly.
  • Adjusted the timing of some conversations in the refugee camps so that players may view them easier.
  • Fixed an issue in which the Citizens Saved counter would not reset when reentering Lion’s Arch.

So…will someone be removing posts that are just fleshing out the poster’s main idea? I can see many ways to get around the 150-200 word post limit. Just like people do with the forum’s 5000 word limit, or whatever it is. ‘Continued in next post’ or ‘reserved for most posting’ or whatever. Plus, I can’t see many people taking the effort to count the words in their post. (I didn’t, though I did count some others.) =)

It is fine to make rules, but if they aren’t enforced (and CDIs are pretty lax) it really makes no difference.

The 200 work count ‘Suggestion’ applies to the original proposal not the discussion but I would hope that we try to keep the word counts down in general so we all have more time to discuss and formulate ideas and opinions.

For any of you getting this error code, could you please post your system specs (CPU, RAM, GPU, OS)? Also, does this happen when you just click the names of the dungeons or when you click to join a group?

The problem I see with this is, that many people have a very clear vision of what they want to have changed.
There are lots of detailed weaponskill suggestions or trait suggestions which are very nice.
I can understand that you don’t want to read through walls of text and I bet we will hit the 100 posts in the ranger CDI within the 1 hour ( ), but the word count cuts our ablility to outline our suggestions if we also have to mention pros, cons and the problems, which should be solved with our suggestions.

In my opionion it wont really fit to the ranger CDI for example.

It does Orca and I think it will fit for balance discussions. In fact I think it will work really well for that particular type of topic.

This is a pretty good approach to making the proposals manageable and digestible to the casual (and more interested) reader. I think that a suggested word count of 150 may be unnecessarily limiting, but I agree that we don’t want things being so long that people approach it with a “tl;dr” mentality. Terseness is generally rewarded by being responded to. I also think there should be flexibility in case there are a lot of problems that can be addressed by a single proposal… It should really depend on what is being put forth. I think you could get rid of that part and play it by ear.

Also, for the record, I look forward to the next CDI topics with baited breath.

sPvP is very different from WvW, but they are both PvP so it wouldn’t hurt you to practice in sPvP.

Personally, I have a PvP background. When I started playing WvW, I learned that my experience does help in certain situations. In PvP, it’s all about surviving and strategy. In WvW, surviving is good if it means you can support the group in some way (in the zerg or even scouting). So, if you can refine those skills it’s definitely beneficial.

It is likely true that AoE will never be completely removed from the game, as the game is built with it being a factor. However, there are things we can look into doing to mitigate the importance of AoE in certain situations. Maybe even something we can do specifically for WvW.

We have a lot going on right now, so I’m not sure when we’d be able to get to it, but we can at least start thinking about our options.

Arenanet, thank you for this decission.
To the rest. This is a temporary thing.
I was one of the people who complained/asked for it.
I do not like WvW but I do understand the requirement to do WvW and I actually agree with it.

The reason I complained is cause I have over 2000 badges of honour and could have got the gift of battle ages ago. The only reason I did not do so is that badges of honour doesnt take up bankspace. As with all of these kind of change it is good custom to communicate this. Just as they are warning people to use up their glory in the next month, or announced the change on karma.

So I’m thankfull they are seeing it was a mistake to ninja this change wihtout any warning and are rectifying it. I’ll make sure I buy my gift this tuesday directly, and I’m certai nthat 2 weeks later the level cap will be put back with a warning before hand both here and on the frontpage.

Ok guys, here’s the dealio.

The designers wanted to give it a stat chooser, which meant that it couldn’t be used in PvP like a skin item can. They are looking into another way to allow you to use it in PvP, so hold on to it for that. Unfortunately, it won’t be coming very soon (sorry, I can’t give the date on it).

I’ll just put it this way, if it’s something you really like, it won’t hurt to work on getting it. Hope that helps!

If he chose a different fear in the dialogue, it would have set that fear. Choosing to accept story progress does NOT change your actual chosen fear,but it will change the storyline you’re put on. My best guess is that he never actually chose a fear, so it will default to the Apatia storyline.

Is is and isn’t a bug. The issue is, after Forging the Pact, the next story step is determined by the fear of the main player. (The person who started that story instance.) If you had a different fear, but choose to accept progress for Forging the Pact, it will make your next quest step the same as the other player’s to keep you both together.

You have to succeed every defend event at a rally camp for an entire evacuation cycle. Evacuation cycles end at 50 minutes past the hour, that is when you would receive credit if you managed to hold the rally camp the entire cycle.

Hey everyone. Thank you all for your reports on this issue! We’ve got a bug submitted which is under review by the programming team. That said, if you continue to run into this issue, please make sure that you continue to submit your crash logs, including any information you have which could help reproduce the crash. Some examples:

Did you click on a particular category which crashed you? Were there LFG listings in that category?
Did you type a certain character or word into the party window that may have caused it to crash?
Did Scarlet do it?

Additionally, it may be worth trying to add the -repair flag to your client shortcut and allowing it to check your .dat file for any errors. It may not address the problem, but only takes about 10 minutes to verify the integrity of your game data.


For Windows Users:

  1. Make sure you create a shortcut to your Gw2.exe file. This can be placed anywhere on your computer.
  2. Right-click the shortcut, and type " -repair" (without the quotes at the end of the Target line. It should look something like: C:\Games\Gw2Dev\Gw2Dev.exe -repair
  3. Hit ‘OK’, and run the client. It should automatically check and repair any damaged files.
  4. Remove the -repair flag once it has finished, then try running the client normally. If this does not solve the problem, be sure to provide as much information as possible in the crash window.

Worst-case scenario, we are aware of the issue and tracking a fix! Thank you again for the reports, and good hunting!
