Forgive me if this is rude, but what exactly is the point of insisting that a proposal be tied to a particular game mode in a profession balance thread? Any substantial change to the profession will affect everything, and we’ve already been told repeatedly that ArenaNet does not want to split skills between the three game modes. Most posts here already read PvX because their players correctly understand this; I saw at least one saying “PvP if I have to choose” which is in the same spirit. There may be minor balance tweaks proposed that would involve small splits between sPvP and PvE/WvW mechanics, but those would affect all game types as well.

There’s no good reason to use game mode in this thread. It just takes up space. Leave it out.

The bold is not necessarily true. In unique situations, we are willing to split skills. Regardless, that is not the reasoning for asking for the game mode. Sometimes feedback is pertaining to very specific scenarios in different game modes. Sometimes there is a way to balance the class that doesn’t hurt the other game modes, but helps to bring it up in the areas where it’s felt to be weak.

Knowing a players primary game mode is very important for us to understand where they are coming from. We also want to make sure that all 3 game modes get the love they need when it comes to balance.

If that doesn’t make sense, then here is an example: Sometimes one skill can be particularly good in PvP. If a player that plays solely PvE feels that skill is weak, it would seem strange if they didn’t specify that it is in PvE when we know that it is already good in PvP.

Does that make sense?

Please improve matchmaking parity first

I don’t think we are ready for ladders or seasons until we address matchmaking right now. Players of like rank and like skill need to be better matched together. I worry that ladders and seasons would isolate large groups of players from each other that might otherwise be compatible, due to the imbalance in matchmaking in the months up to this point.

We are still seeing too many matches of ranks like this: red team: 36, 13, 14, 52, 7 vs blue team: 37, 32, 28, 29, 34. Number averages don’t equal normalizing skill across a team.

Until this is fixed, you will be artificially pulling apart similarly skilled players and putting together incompatible players with any kind of additional layer of tournaments, ladders, etc. on top of a matchmaking system that isn’t working as well as it must.

Matchmaking improvements will likely come out at the same time, or some time before. We don’t have any dates yet, but a requirement of anything coming out of this CDI would have the new server infrastructure as a prerequisite.

Hey guys, just wanted to pop in here and state that come the release of the feature build players will no longer be able to carry the orb while in a transform. For those unfamiliar with what a transform is in PvP, it is a skill that changes your skill bar. I.E Rampage, Elixir U, Tornado, etc. We’ve also trimmed off some hard edges on the map to make travel more smooth and functional.

Thanks and I hope this makes the map more enjoyable for those whom have issues with it.

I know that im out of topic here and not using the format proposal and i apologize for it ,but before posting any ideas about the ranger and having into consideration that this will be read by some dev ,i will like to ask something :

Would you ever (or have you) considered the removal of the pet ,knowing how borked the ai is ,and as anet says ,it can not be reworked because its tied to mob ai?

Or would you consider split the class in to two, ranger/beastmaster ,and rework the pet ai from the ground.

Removing the pet was something that was discussed in initial design of the class, but it is such an integral part of the Ranger’s design and philosophy.

There might be some ways that we can redesign the pet and it’s AI, but those are big projects. For the time being, we are happy to take any suggestions regarding the pet.

I can see your concern here but, the option to have the pet as such an integral part of the class is one of the largest faults of the class. Could it not be optional to have the pet as an option, basically if you spec wilderness survival your pet becomes a larger part of the class, if you choose to spec in something different to be more valuable to your group then either you don’t have the pet or it has minimal impact on the class.

That is completely valid feedback that I will relay to the designers. Thanks for taking the time to share it!

This is a known issue with Reconnaissance that we are working to fix, there are two missing markers. You’ll also have to go inside the Bank to break up looters and approach the two that are standing near the fire pit next to the former Mystic Forge. If you’ve done all 5 areas, you should be able to complete the story instance until we get those last two green markers back in!

We would like to get some focused and informed feedback from you all on changes you would like to see made regarding the Ranger profession (in general). Many of you have already shared tons of great feedback on the forums, but there are some specifics that we would like to have from you, so we have decided to open up this profession CDI.

Ranger Design Philosophy: Please keep this in mind when posting feedback.
The Ranger is a resilient profession that excels at skirmishing by drawing from nature to support themselves as well as their allies. Alongside their pet, they have some of the best single target and sustained damage that will whittle their opponents down.

On the live servers, special Dev abilities (like immortality or teleportation) are limited to GMs, and all dev commands are logged and reviewed to make sure no one is abusing the system. The integrity of our live servers is very important to us.

ArenaNet employees can join the ArenaNet guild, and when we’re representing it, we get the special ArenaNet tag by our name. We don’t have any special abilities, though, and we don’t necessarily represent all the time, so the tag isn’t always visible. (I often rep another guild, since it has a lot of my RL friends in it.)

Do you guys do dungeons/fractals/wvw/spvp together? If you don’t, and you pug, how does your group react? Do they still do all the tricks people normally do to make dungeons go faster, or do they take an extra 20 minutes to look good and innocent? :P

I have done all the dungeons with both Anet folks and with friends, fractals up to like 15-20 with friends, WvW a bunch with both friends and Anet folks, and sPvP again with friends and Anet folks.

The Edge of the Mists features numerous changes to the standard WvW mechanics.The most notable changes are: Scoring on capture of objectives, scaling creatures, new and more difficult NPCs, unique bosses at each objective, increased emphasis on verticality, more chokepoints, a much shorter match time, and destructible terrain. Of the changes included, which would you like to see implemented in the standard WvW maps?

Wow! Judging from this thread, all CDI threads, except Ranger, will be ghost towns, and all but forgotten.

I hope whoever presides over the Ranger CDI thread is ready for the deluge. Think I will steer clear…sounds like a bloodbath coming. Lol.

I sadly agree, especially if people keep on responding in the same type of “quality”, like they just did in my preperative For Monday- Brainstorming/Sandbox-Thread, which is the reason why I decided to let it get closed by a Mod today…

If everything what you will see in the CDI on Monday are only silly destructive answers like

This are not the people with that you can talk constructively a slightest bit over anything.
What alot of people must understand here in the first place is, that Anet surely wouldn’t make a whole CDI about the Ranger Class, after we the community have chosen this class out to be discussed, if they wouldn’t plan to use the CDI also not too to make some bigger changes on the chosen Class, if that should end up later to be part of the Ranger Proposal to make the class alot better balanced, more fun to play and functionate simply better in regard of its clumsy class mechanic that are their pets.

Because the real only one, who decides over it, what is OP, what is insane and what is really ridiculous or just impossible out of whichever reasons is – ANET
Nobody else.

So if people don’t begin to overcome their biases and to stop with their mentality of the “nothing may touch my beloved things – or I quit” way of bribe thinking, the class CDI will quickly fail.

This kind of CDI will be only successful, if all participants are objective and contructive to whatever for suggestions will be made for the Ranger, otherways the CDI just has only the potential to turn out into a flame wars

Cause if this kind of CDI becomes a great success now, chances are very good, that we will see in future also CDI’s for the other Classes to follow for the to the ranger compared more too strenghtful classes, like especially the Warrior in the first place
Or perhaps before somethign like that gets continued, I’d like personally to see my CDI about Sub Classes first tehe ^^, right Chris ??

Some additional details about the state the event was in when the bug occurred will greatly help us track and narrow down exactly what’s happening. Some things to consider:

  • What state was the event in when the bug concurred?
    • Did you push TQ to 25% while he was still in his weakened state?
  • Did the timer remained paused as though to kick off the Battery events, but nothing happened?
  • Does this only occur at 25%? Has anyone seen the same issue at 50%?

Any additional details you can think of go a long way in tracking down bugs reported on the forums!

It’s possible that have a valid installation of Direct X. This could be due to corruption or you may just not have it installed. Either way we should update this.

The first link will provide you with the June 2010 redistributable which will force Windows to update Direct X. I provided this link below:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 (download and run this first)

Once installed, please use the following link to install all material post June 2010 for Direct X. Again this link is provided below:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 (download and run this 2nd)

Please be sure to save the file to your Windows desktop. Then create a new folder on the desktop and extract the DirectX files into it. Once they have been extracted open the new folder and use the DXsetup file to install DirectX.

I actually play all 8 classes, I’ve helped start multiple metas!

I play terror necro, most every ele spec, d/p s/p and s/d thief mainly. But I tinker around with every class like I said.

Seeing as you play “All” classes in SPVP…what do you run on your Ranger?

Well, I used to play a lot of traps and beastmaster back in the day, but then randomly one day I started using Spirits to counter-pick old meta back point play. My first rendition of it was 0 10 30 30 0 rabid before showing it to Vyndetta. He optimized it into 10 0 30 30 0 with carrion and put it in a team fight role.

Either way I play these:
Traps: 0 30 30 10 0 or 0 30 30 5 5
Beastmaster: 10 0 30 0 30/0 10 30 0 30/0 0 30 10 30
Spirits: 0 10 30 30 0/10 0 30 30 0/0 0 30 30 10

What i would like to see in Ranger CDI:

- The thoughts behind the Design of the ranger
- Which builds do devs Play in PvP with Ranger (and yes you Need to say that a lot of devs Play ranger, most People cant believe it)
- The minds of the Balance Team on the current Ranger. I think Chapman already did it after Eagle Eye Bug few months ago.
- Do not allow that Player compare with other classes. I know you already stated it…but some People dont want to understand that every class has its own playstyle.
- Be serious against utopic Balance suggestions. This Community is difficult because they strongly believe…the ranger is the weakest of them all.
- Its absolute needed to Show in CDI the Balance notes for ranger. When the notes are good (probably even with a super duper wombo Combo mega giga buff a lot of ranger will say…“no. too weak”) we will less see People flaming around.
- You will probably know the most suggestions in ranger Forum, something like that “Druid ranger/Staff Ranger”, “Remove pet/Stow Pet for dmg buff” and state ur thoughts…and pls dont use anets favourite sentence “Nothing is off the table”. Please please not!
- The thoughts behind the ranger weapons. I think the most ranger hate themselfes…errrr the weapons of their class… Longbow and Axe main Hand for example.

Chris…i think u know it, but this CDI will be difficult for ur Team.

I would suggest putting the feedback in the thread once it opens. I have read it but it will be worth re-posting it for your fellow collaborators can think about it to.

I don’t see why it will be ‘Difficult’. The CDI is something that we embrace because it connects us with the community and therefore leads to an even better game.

However if the implication is that folks are going to be rude to the team or anything along those lines then the only folks it will be ‘difficult’ for will be the posters who take this approach.

Aside from this I am very much looking forward to reading that CDI (-:

  • An additional rock has been added to the Swashbuckler’s Cove jumping puzzle in Gendarran Fields.
  • Fixed a graphic error on mesmer phantasms when wearing Zodiac armor.

Jorne, we have spent a good part of the day removing posts. We do not work on the weekends and wanted to make sure that those on these forums and those in Reddit understand that they are not true.

If you look at the Reddit thread, many of the comments are of people reacting and believing these notes. We do not want people to be upset by fake patch notes.

Does that make sense?

Hey everyone,

I’m sure you have all been wondering whether the ‘Leaked Balance Patch notes’ we have all seen on Reddit are true.

I am here to say that they are not. It appears the poster has taken some of the notes that we have in this thread in an effort to make their own look more legitimate, and mashed them together with some imaginary notes. These are not real patch notes.

This is a reminder that when patch notes are posted by a source other than ArenaNet, they should not be trusted. Particularly in the context of a “leak.”

I am not understanding this then do you or do you not have to have explorer regions done for this? This was not needed before. as my son had gotten his items months ago without.
What I mean is Krytan Explorer, Maguuma Explorer and Shiverpeak explorer.

In my situation, I’ve got Krytan Explorer Maguuma Explorer Shiverpeak Explorer and Ascalon Explorer blah blah blah.

I have the situation there is no reason to blah blah me I was asking a question for myself, thank you

Misty, I think Akatan simply meant that yes, all the [Location] Explorer attainments are on the account. The “blah blah” wasn’t dismissive, it was just like saying “etc.” in that comment.

Bottom line: I got 100% map, but can anyone that has this issue go to this place, jump to the vista and report if watching this vista makes any change??

Interesting suggestion. The devs say there’s a bug, but maybe this will fix the issue for some players. Thanks for sharing.

I just had a thought:

If you have submitted a ticket and if you tried the trouble-shooting steps in this thread, consider updating your ticket. You do that by responding to any e-mail with your ticket number in the subject line.

You could say:

  • “I did the trouble-shooting steps Gaile posted in the forum and I still have not received my Map Complete reward.”
    -OR-
  • “This issue is resolved, I no longer need help”

You see, we have a few ways we might respond to a player with Map Completion issues. If you’re still having problems, and if agents know you’ve already done some of the things they’d normally suggest, then they can reclassify your ticket more efficiently.

This isn’t a requirement, by any means. Your ticket will be attended to either way! But updating your ticket may speed up all responses, and that’s a good thing.

The name should have been accessible to you for 24 hours. If you are certain you are not misspelling the name, and that you made the new character in under 24 hours, you’re welcome to contact Support to ask about this.

Hi Gaile. Any way to lift the 24 hour reservation? I used my brother’s account to test out the availability of few IGNs since he has an opened character slot. Now I am trying to apply it to my account under the 24 hr period. I can wait, just wondering if you guys have the resources to make this possible.

The issue you wrote about was caused by significant Internet disruptions that were resolved days ago. So the issue itself should be resolved. If not, please update your ticket and explain you’re still having issues.

I think I answered the questions about the “automatic closure” situation. That is not what happened, but the response you should have received seems to have been “stuck” in the system so I’m asking about it now.

Update: Yes, the agent fumbled on sending. You’ll get the response within minutes, and if you need further help you can update that e-mailed response.

Thank you once again Gaile, as I stated in my OP, the issue is no longer happening but I did find it kind of weird that I was completely ignored or so I thought. Apologies if I wasted your time, however it is nice to know what happened. Thanks for taking the time to look in to this.

Oh no worries! When a response doesn’t go out properly, we want to investigate. This was simple human error, and we just let the agent know to be careful about making sure the answers go to our players — no biggie at all.
