I have your report and you should be able to delete your comment. As an alternative, have you submitted a support ticket yet? If not I would highly recommend creating a support ticket so that we can address your issue one on one because some of the steps that we may ask you to try or diagnostic information we may need to ask for we do not necessarily want to post publicly.
Once you’ve done this, please reply to the thread with your ticket number and we can take it from there.

Yeah, forum bugs are awesome, Oxe. It’s happening to me as well.
It is MORE restrictive than it is intended to be.
This is a known issue that is still being looked into by the Development Team and it is likely that you are in your Guild but you may just be unable to see that you are in game. There are a couple of things that you can try to resolve this issue:
1. Log out and log back in again.
2. Completely shut down the game client, re-open it and log back in.
3. “Stand Down,” switch zones, and click “Represent” again.
Sorry for the inconvenience guys, rest assured this is being looked into!
My other half couldn’t get this to progress tonight either. He’s playing a Norn Warrior with weapon and armor smithing. I don’t recall the rest of his personal story choices at character creation, but we both had the blacked-out-drinking choice so our personal story has been progressing together. I’d actually just completed the last few stages in his instances.
He was owner of the instance again. We got the first cut scene and completed the first objective “Meet with Ballista and her warband outsinde Grendich Ruins” but the next objective never triggered or showed up on the tracker and all of the Charr just stood around. We wandered down into the tunnel and all around and tried talking to all the NPCs. We eventually exited by running out to the edge of the instance. We re-entered, again with him as instance owner. We skipped over the cut scene this time, but the same thing happened where the next objective never triggered and the Charr just stood around.
I did a search and found that this thread about someone, specifically a warrior, having the same issue. So we exited again and I entered first. We watched the cut scene and very soon after the event progressed (the charges went off) and the rest of the story proceeded just fine to the end. So my character could progress it. My character is a Norn (obviously?) Engineer, leatherworker and huntsman crafting professions. He’s also all nobility/dignity for personality (the warrior is mostly ferocity) if that might be worth knowing. His character level was 28 I think, and mine was 35 or 36 at the time, if I recall correctly. The only other notable differences might be that I had an elite skill equipped and he’s not high enough level for one yet.
Thank you for the details! We’ll take another look at this and see if we can identify what’s breaking.

Thanks Legitemy. We’ll have one of our Technical Support reps address your issue as soon as they can!
my apologies – I believe I have fixed it, and the fix will be in the next patch.
I was not the only one working on dungeons. I personally worked on CoE, CoF, AC Explorables, and one of the dragon explorables.
When it comes to an ETA, we’d rather be as accurate as possible than provide one and then have to change it when things on our side inevitably change. As soon as we have information to share, we will share it. Thank you.

Okay I see so you’re crashing during the initial installation process. Has your computer experienced crash issues before attempting to install Guild Wars 2 for instance if you were playing other games?
Also, if you’re crashing during installation, do you get a specific error message at all?
Hi Dean – does it only crash when you are updating or does it crash when you are in game as well? How long have you been experiencing this crash issue? Also, do you get any specific error message at all when you crash?
Currently, the Guild Wars 2 download application will resume file downloads. However, there seems to be a bit of confusion as to how it does that. When the download is stopped for any reason, you need to close and restart the launcher. When you do this, the application will scan the already downloaded files to make sure they are intact. Once the files are scanned, the download continues. The confusion comes from how the “scan” appears in the launcher. When this process is taking place it will look like it is downloading the files again, complete with “download speeds.” However, if you notice the download speed, it should be much faster than your Internet connection. This is because the launcher isn’t actually downloading the files from the Internet but is instead, scanning the files inside the GW2.dat file. Once the scan completes, the download resumes and your actual bandwidth is used.
That being said, if you experienced a power outage or a full on crash during the update, it is very likely you will need to re-download these files.

@Legitemy – I am thinking this is either your driver that’s crashing or DirectX. Have you submitted a support ticket yet? Thanks for reporting this about Rhiannon’s chain. It’s a known bug that I have fixed. It is however, not 100% repro for everyone, which has made nailing down exactly what is going wrong with it difficult.
I hope that by splitting the topics, it will make updates more easily seen by more people. As we have seen with this very thread, posting an update in here is instantly lost for anyone new coming to the forum, and even people actively on topic.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeon-Forum-Format-Update/first#post192668
we’re very aware that our reward system is not up to par for dungeons. It is something we are actively working on right now, to try and find a solution for. I’m not going to talk about what our plans are because I don’t want us to be trapped in promises, but I will say this: We know, and are actively working on updating the system.
Are you referring to “Bad Blood”? If so, as mentioned in the thread on that story step, it’s been adjusted in the 10/1 update for folks who are having trouble with the puzzles.
It’s really not as simple as it sounds.
A spawn group might consist of 5 creatures. “OMG!” you say “Make that 1 creature! Fixed!” But you might not realize that there are also 5 allied NPCs, so now this one creature is going to get swarmed and killed in seconds.
Or there might be 5 spawn groups of 1 creature each. If they spawn one at a time, no problem. But if all five activate at once, you have 5 creatures on you. An automated system isn’t going to catch that situation.
Or it might be a creature with a good attack that has a long cooldown between attacks, but does high damage. Alone, it’s not an issue, but once you start having two or more together, they can instantly “spike down” a player.
A large spawn group might be spread over a large area, so it might have a high count, but a low density. (Most of the “world” spawns are this way… A given spawn group might consist of 15 minotaurs, but they’re spread out across a mountain.)
And I’m sure I could keep coming up with more ways to break an automated system. That’s why I keep asking for specifics.
This thread has run its course. Thank you everyone for your feedback and for sharing your thoughts.
On a side note, unfortunately, several people, including the OP were unable to behave like adults, and they’ve been issued infractions. As a reminder: please refrain from being dismissive of others’ opinions just because they don’t agree. Please do debate in a mature, respectful fashion.
Thank you.

10/1 update notes:
- Spread out undead waves so that only 1 can be active at a time, and reduced their numbers a bit (previously if you just focused on Kellach you could have a dozen undead active at once, since they spawned based on his health)
- Marked the “must do” conversation responses with the green star icon (it hasn’t come up, but I’ve seen people on other steps who thought that just closing the conversation window was the same as picking the “exit” conversation option, and the story wouldn’t continue)
- Kellach will wait for about 30 seconds before entering the fray—he’s determined during this time, but he won’t aggro or respond to attacks until he’s good and ready
We are aware of this issue, and are currently working on it. This post brought it to our attention.
Thank you.
Hi everyone.
A little bit of competitive spirit in WvW is good and challenging, not question about that. But please, we would ask you to stay on topic and do not turn the thread into something personal and rude as this is not good any more.

PATCH NOTES 9/17
-Patch notes will go here in future threads.
UPDATE 9/20
1. Diminished Returns are currently experiencing a known bug. The nature of the bug is that players are currently unfairly being punished with diminished returns meant to counter the speed-clears. We are aware of and working on the issue.
When everything gets sorted out, we will post about how this system is designed to work, and how it works, so you know what it takes to be affected by it legitimately, and you can raise concerns about being affected by it illegitimately.
If you feel it may be a bug, please post in the Game Bugs sub-forum. If you feel it may be an exploit, please email exploits@arena.net. Thank you.

You should not be able to deploy siege in your start areas. I’ve found a few of these spots on center map and they are in the process of getting fixed. I’ll do a pass on the home worlds as well to see if any spots have been missed. Please feel free to submit a bug if you have found a spot to place siege while in your safety area.
If you have a technical problem, such as lag, the Guild Wars 2 Discussion forum is not a suitable place for it. Please post in the appropriate sub-forum so the right people can read it.

Hey folks.
In the near future (see: next patch notes time) there’s going to be a bit of change to how the patch notes are posted, and how you will respond to them.
A problem I am seeing right now, is that we post information in a specific thread, and then allow non-dev people to post in that same thread. Then, when we need to update that thread, our single post is lost in a sea of feedback about the patch. This has made reporting updates to you all very difficult, and has resulted in a lot of incorrect information being spread around, and correct information just not being seen.
So the plan is this.
1. We will have a sticky thread with the most recent patch update pertaining to dungeons. This thread will be LOCKED. That way, when we need to update things or get new information out regarding the patch, there is a place to do it where information is easily found.
2. We will have a second thread specifically for feedback. This will allow people to post on topic.
Hi Maladie.
Thanks for bringing this into out attention. However, we do not accept descriptions of exploits inside the forums. Please, send these screenshots and a description to exploits@arena.net, where it will be looked into. Thanks!
Now I will proceed to close this thread.
Awesome idea for a thread, RaZaC. Thank you for your sharing your thoughts.

All classes have “Bandage” as their #4 downed skill, it will self-heal but it will stop if you take any damage. So if you’re “safe” but dead, you can bandage yourself to life.
So with the update, if you fall, you can two things:
- Let time run out, and go to the checkpoint (which is now past the bridge)
- Bandage yourself and try again
No need to leave the instance.
Our team is working on additional security features, but at this time we cannot provide info. When we are able to do that, we will share that with you. Thanks.

Hi everyone.
You can check the following thread, in which this question is being discussed. At the moment the commerce sites are undergoing maintenance and we´ll provide with an ETA as soon as we are able to.
Thanks for your concerns.

Hi everyone.
Please, keep on using the in-game reporting system, since it is the fastest way to help us dealing with this issue. The team is fully aware of these problems and working on them. However, we would like to ask for a little bit of patience until the reported issues are looked into.
Thank you very much for your concerns.
I will proceed now to lock this thread.
There are lines about plugging up the holes the oozes are using to get in, and if you talk to Merri she’ll also tell you to use the globs of ooze that appear when you kill an ooze and use it to plug the leaks. (There are a couple of spots in the hold with water spraying up.)

My thief build is sword+pistol, with utility skills varying by level. Blind works wonders against both groups and single bosses. Black Powder will reapply blind for a few seconds in its area of effect. Pistol whip can lock down a single target. If I get in trouble, hide in shadows, smoke screen, and/or roll for initiative can save the day. (If nothing else, I can stealth for long enough to heal, which will stealth me again.) Ironically, I stumbled on the build with my “live” thief so I could take on skill challenges and veterans solo.
Now don’t get me wrong—I totally agree that some of the steps are too hard. I’ve played this game a lot, so facing 3 mobs at once is no big deal, but I recognize that it’s too much for most players, and the early steps (L1-20) in particular need to be toned down. But I simply don’t have enough hours in the day to play through every single story step and make adjustments, which is why I keep asking for specifics.
Also, not to start an argument, but expecting every story step to work for ANY build is not realistic. If you want to build a glass cannon, you can’t expect to never die, and you can’t expect your particular favorite build to work all the time.
Hi everyone.
Kenney, reporting users and posts inside the forum is made by clicking the little flag on the lower right corner of your post. Then your report will arrive to the mod team.

Hi everyone.
Thank you very much for your concerns. We understand how annoying this kind of players are and how this affects your overall gaming experience. We created a special address (exploits@arena.net) so the players can report this examples of botting/spamming. However, we ask for a little bit of patience until all those reported issues are looked into.
Thanks again.
I will proceed now to lock this thread.
Hey all—we hear you loud and clear. Thank you all for your feedback.
One challenge with some of the emergent issues is that when certain portions of our game experience issues, the forums will also be affected. As such, when we had login issues yesterday, as you know, we could not post any messaging that was hosted on our infrastructure because the forums were completely unavailable . With that, we relied on social media channels, which do not live on our infrastructure. As you might be aware, other big companies like Twitter will also handle outages this way—posting messaging on channels that are not hosted on their infrastructure.
Having said that, whenever we can for emergent issues (when they do not impact our infrastructure), we should be using the system broadcast on the forums for outages.
With regard to the current outage: at this time all commerce sites (Trading Post, Currency Exchange, Gem Store) are down right now and undergoing maintenance. We will provide an ETA as soon as we are able to.
Thanks again, everyone.
