We just updated the Mac Beta installer to include our newest launcher, which could help if you are having issues with the first launch of the client.

You can download it from the same location on the account page:
https://account.guildwars2.com/download

Note: Re-installing will overwrite the existing game, and you will have to download the game content again. Only re-install if you are having trouble with the launcher. If you are able to log into the launcher, then your client is up to date, and re-installing is unlikely help at this time.

This version of the launcher also has better error recovery, so if your problems persist, it may help to let the launcher stay on-screen for a minute or two.

To ensure the best possible play experience with the Guild Wars 2 Mac client, you should make sure that your operating system has been updated to the latest version. Currently, this means having Lion (10.7) updated to version 10.7.5 and Mountain Lion (10.8) updated to version 10.8.2.

To check what version of Mac OS X you are running, click on the Apple menu in the menu bar and select About This Mac.

If necessary, click on Software Updates… and follow the prompts to update your OS to the latest version.

I dug a little deeper and it seems that the loot system for WvW is a little more nuanced than I initially thought, and doesn’t always scale the loot to YOUR level. Which explains how you were getting lower level mats.

You will retain all your characters, progress and gear when the Mac Beta period ends. in fact, there is no difference between accounts used on Macs and those used on Windows machines. As you’ve probably read by now in other posts, you can—and many players do—play on both types of computers.

Wow, so many technicalities in your post. You are trying so, so very hard to defend a flawed economy…

When you make your point like in such a negative way, it has much less impact than if you make your point calmly. I recommend trying this in future people will begin to listen, because you clearly are very involved and care about the game and that’s awesome.

Secondly, I do think you are a bit misinformed. You seem to be missing several huge key features of the game that are important to why this economy is different from what you expect (mystic forge for starters).

Lastly, I think that a lot of this is your expectations for things SHOULD work. GW2 is not any other game and it’s economy is unique. It doesn’t necessarily work exactly the same way other games do, nor should it. I encourage you to explore more into the game and economy and think about the differences in detail.

There’s a good bit of information that our Technical Support Team can use to help address your technical issue. Here’s what to provide in the ticket you submit using “Ask a Question” on the support page:

  • Your Guild Wars 2 Account Name
  • A detailed description of the issue that you’re experiencing
  • Any error code that you are getting

When submitting a technical support ticket for the Guild Wars 2 Mac Beta Client, be sure to include a full system report as an attachment. To get this report, please follow these steps under the Lion (10.7) and Mountain Lion (10.8) operating systems:

  1. Under the Apple menu, click About This Mac.
  2. In the small window that pops up, click More Info…
  3. In the next window that appears, click System Report…
  4. Go to the File menu, and choose Save…

This report will contain all the necessary information about your system, and will help Customer Support diagnose your issues.

If you submitted a support ticket without this info, you can log into your Support Account and attach the requested information or update via the automated message you received and include these files in your reply.

NOTE: Please do not submit multiple tickets as this may slow down response time. Please instead add any updates to the original ticket you created.

Hey everyone! I was one of main the city designers for Guild Wars 2. So for those of you who are concerned about this issue, could I get you to clarify, are you talking about:

A. the greets (spoken by an NPC when someone interacts with them)
B. the random talk lines (these are usually just a single line spoken by a nearby NPC on their own, unrelated to player activity)
C. Idle Scenes (spoken by two or more NPC’s, conversing back and forth)
D. All of the above

NPC’s in the cities do a combination of these four types of vocalizations. Around the vendors and crafting areas I tried to keep idle scenes (which I had the most control over) to a bare minimum, and when they are there, I have them on fairly long timers (although I recognize some of you are standing in the crafting area for a long time, so you’re more likely to hear them). The other audio would require a bit more massaging to make any changes, which is why I’m asking for this additional information.

Based on the quotes you all have pulled and included in this thread, it sounds like it’s the greets that are most audible and most annoying? Given the popularity of crafting, I’m not surprised by this, but I understand the frustration it can cause. I’ll follow up with this and look into potential solutions. Please feel free keep this thread going, and to include more examples or particularly troublesome spots.

While some gear does scale up, I’d say the majority does not. My experience as a 80 in the level 1-15 zones is at least a good 75% of the items are for the level of the zone and not my current level.

WvW DOES scale all loot to your level, but PvE does not. I don’t know the exact percentage but it’s not a big number, I am sure. We wanted you to be able to go back to low level PvE maps to farm for low level mats.

We do not officially support Snow Leopard (10.6) simply because Apple typically only supports its two most recent major OS versions—currently, Lion (10.7) and Mountain Lion (10.8). As much as we would have liked to support Snow Leopard, it just wasn’t feasible.

We cannot take bot reports on the forums. Our forum moderators and Community Coordinators (CCs) are not GMs; they don’t work on taking actions on game accounts. Given that our forum moderators cannot take action on bot reports and that the method by which players should be reporting bots is via the in-game reporting tools or via Customer Support, those threads are locked and players are provided the information on the correct procedure.

Our Customer Support Team is handling all in-game reports of breaches of the User Agreement. They investigate each player-submitted report, so as you might be able to imagine, doing this process right takes some time. The Support Team needs to go through this investigative process so they ensure that they’re terminating the correct accounts and not taking actions on false positives. The team is working on tools on our side to help speed up this process.

Secondly, if you have a question about moderators’ actions, please send an email to forums@arena.net. Creating a forum post about it will only earn you an infraction for violating the Code of Conduct.

Poke, it says that the authentication system is on for your account. Your observations are worth pursuing, for not getting an email from a nearby location isn’t too concerning — I think the system takes into account the dynamic IP situtaiton — but not getting one when you’re in a completely different location raises a question in my mind.

Zpiven, I want to help you. I’m not accusing you of anything, I’m simply pointing out what we’ve found to be true, time and time again. The fact that someone is repeatedly compromised points to something giving his/her access information to the hackers. And how that works is that the victim gets malware on his computer and that “feeds” the info, even when changed, straight out to the hacker.

I’m told the best way to be sure you don’t have this nasty malware on your system is to reformat your system. If you’re like me, you really hate to do that, because it takes a lot of time and effort. Still, it may be worthwhile doing that. Alternately, check with our support team and get their recommendations about this.

It’s frustrating — even infuriating — to be victimized, and to be victimized time and again. Your have my sympathy and my hopes that this sorts out for you!

It’s my understanding that the final reward will be corrected for people who complete the step, and we’ll be doing something for people who have already completed the story. It shouldn’t matter if you already opened the bags, or have them untouched, since we don’t want to punish people who (in good faith) opened up the rewards and got a bunch of low level items.

not sure if this is where i should post this buuuut…

Hi, I currently have a level 49 Mesmer named Themother on Stormbluff isles. As I reach the higher levels I am obviously learning more and more about the game and the many cool ways of customizing your character. As of recently I have started to use my transmutation stones and love the feature, but I am deeply saddened that I deleted my starting mask that I got when creating my character (I picked the phantasm of sorrow mask) as I highly doubt that I will be able to find another mask with that skin.
-so my question is, is there any way I can get that mask back?

Sorry about that accidental deletion — I’ve done it myself. We do not have the ability to spawn items as replacements and the ability to restore (roll-back) an account is not intended for these purposes.

The way to avoid an email change is to log in and verify your email address. From then on, no one can change your email address — someone trying to do so, even you, will need to go through Support to make the change. I agree that locking this down is a good thing, and I encourage everyone to verify your email and at that time, changes will no longer be possible.

It is necessary to keep the “change” option in place for non-verified email accounts because the person may not be using a valid email address, may be trying to link a non-email address (like a PlayNC account), etc.

The verification screen is presented at log-in, and it’s a simple process that makes sure yes, you do have access to the email used to create your account. Once done, your account is protected as you have requested in your comments.

Two times ive been a victim of being suspended due to an unauthorized access form and individual. I sent a ticket and got a mail later that night saying my account was resolved and i could log in again using a new password. Next day when i came home from work i did just that. I logged in on the site and changed my password. When i logged into the game the SAME thing happend again. My account was suspended AGAIN!!! Same night i got another mail saying, this time my account would be fixed and that they have fixed an update. I logged on and it worked great. Wanna thank for fast support though. I sended mails in game to people that i got angry mail from. My account was hacked by an goldspammer and i had to apologise cause of that idiot who hacked me. No biggie though. Today when i logged in a small window came up saying my account was Terminated due to modyfying and tempering with the game, wich i have no clue what that means. First of im married and have a 2 year old at home. I dont have the TIME to take kitten from this game anymore. I want a REFUND now cause i bekittento be treated like this. If you cant keep hackers out of a game after millions of year developing it then its just sad. Im tired of this kitten tbh. Gimme my money back or fix this now!!!!!

I understand your frustration. I only wish that we could make this not happen, but what I’m thinking right now is that somewhere on your system, there’s a keylogger or a Trojan that is transmitting your credentials to an RMT. This is not unheard of — you can pick up a keylogger through email, from visiting a website, from opening a link on the Internet, etc.

You need help resecuring your system, and I believe that our team can give you that help. However, if you prefer to get a refund, the team can help with that. Simply,m as you have done before, contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. You may be able simply to update your existing ticket. The team will help you, and again, I’m sorry that you’ve been hassled by the blankety-blank gold sellers.
