I wanted to let those wondering know; we are racing to reduce the queue times. We are gathering as much data as we can on this situation and looking at multiple ways to get even more people into WvW. We are absolutely amazed at the amount of people wanting to get into WvW, and will do everything in our power to ensure that everyone that wants to play can play. While I’m not able to say exactly what our plans are at this time, many options are on the table and we are working quickly to get the most viable options into development.

I figured it was already posted on this thread, but in the case that it is not posted and/or lost in the threadnaught, I am going to reiterate something that seemed to surprise people in another thread.

The “diminished returns anti-speed clear tech” that went in last patch is NOT functioning as intended. It is currently bugged. We’re working on it, and will have a solution as soon as possible.

It is frustrating and unfair that it is happening, and we’re working on it (it has happened to me as well, and I share your pain). As a dungeon designer, it’s pretty upsetting to see dungeons being thrashed to pieces on forums due to this bug.
People are rightfully upset, and we have the best tech-priests on this side of the Imperium, and we’re all working to resolve this thing ASAP.

More testing always helps ( I was a tester in QA long before I was a designer). Better to be safe than sorry, and there was a ball dropped in this regard.

Mind pointing those out? When I google Gw2 Dungeons, you don’t want to know what comes up but I’m sure you have an idea heh

I once made the mistake of searching for fan-art of the charr. Needless to say, google images can be quite NSFW with no warning lol.
But no, I’m not going to point out the correct guides for this, at least not here in the first month of the game’s release. Part of exploration is finding and solving mysteries on your own.

I’m not a fan of things that super hurt with no real tell. I’ll look into the crystals drop rate and frequency, and their warm-up/falling warning.
I’m not about to say this fight was tested with all class/race variations (that would take way too long). We did however test it in the following conditions related to your concerns:
-No poison
-No quickness
-Natural level 75

There’s a balance that has to be made between crystal health and frequency/amount. There has been a lot of class fixes/changes these last few weeks, and it’s very possible something could have gone out of tune. I will investigate.

Hey folks,

Just thought I’d pop in and drop a comment on this since I designed it. MadMossy has a great tactic of utilizing poison to diminish the healing done by the crystals in your pug group. And of course, mesmer time warp is always a great way get some team burst damage no matter what the situation is.

Crystal drops are a bit random in their placement and their quantity, but there are caps in place for it. The only real luck in this fight is the same luck you encounter every other mob with.

the MSP is a tough dude, who I built to directly counter brute force comps. I haven’t seen a group yet internally able to defeat him while ignoring the crystals, so you’re on the right path.

As for an ANet video of it being done by in-house folks, I don’t know what that would prove. If we released a video of any tough encounter being done, I don’t know if it would help, since a thing that tends to happen with those is that people will claim we’re wearing special dev armor and dev weapons.
There are some guides out there. Some of them I have read aren’t quite correct, but some are spot on. You’re on the right path though.

All three of these features are planned, yes. It is our tradition to not discuss in detail any feature until we have it fully implemented enough that we can talk about it with confidence, as we don’t want to promise a feature to work one way and then end up having it work a different way. We’ll save details on all of those until they are ready to be talked about.

Chaplan will be putting out a blog post in the next few days that summarizes where we stand with PvP right now, and where we’re headed. From there we’ll continue to update as other Esports features come online.

Our focus right now is making sure absolutely all of the potential issues/bugs with base tournaments and rewards are 100% cleaned up before we introduce any form of more serious competition. We’re also trying to make sure we’ve given enough time for the base strategies to develop, and for any skills/builds that are out of balance are identified. Once we’re totally convinced things are in a solid state, you’ll start seeing a roll out of major PvP esports features and we’ll get this thing going like crazy. Take this opportunity now to learn your classes, learn your builds, lockdown strategies for your teams and get ready! Once we start rolling out the esports features, it’ll build up rapidly from there.

Hi all,

For a variety of performance reasons we limit the number of characters that are reported to any given game client. This report limiting (or culling, as it’s also been referred to) is generally distance based and limits both the amount of bandwidth and client side processing (rendering, etc.) required to play the game. Ideally this shouldn’t be something that you notice happening as characters will simply fade in when they’re “far” away from you. In the best case this happens far enough away that even if you’re looking right at them when it happens it isn’t too visually distracting. Unfortunately, there are some situations in the game in which this setup doesn’t work as well as we’d like and it seems that those situations come up in WvW rather more often than in other parts of the game. The higher player densities that we see in large battles are an obvious example of where this system goes awry. If only the nearest N characters are reported to you but there are N+100 characters within effective battle range then many of those characters will be invisible. There’s never a great time to be dealing with invisible characters, but I think that it’s fair to say that during a large battle is one of the worst times.

In WvW one of the things that we see exacerbating the issue is this: From the moment a character is first reported to your client to the first moment that your client is able to render it a non-zero amount of time passes. During this time your client is doing things like loading textures from disk, which can be (at least in computer terms) fairly slow what with all that accessing of spinning, physical storage media. So that means that a character who is moving towards you can potentially appear first at a much closer point even than the one at which they were reported because, of course, they were still moving during that load time.

MajorKong’s screenshot doesn’t immediately look like the situation I just described so it may be that there’s some kind of bug lurking in there as well. We will certainly be looking into that possibility.

That was a lot of detail but really I’m posting to let you know that we’re aware of the issues associated with invisible enemies and we’re working on finding both the root causes and effective solutions. I understand that these experiences can be quite frustrating but please rest assured that we do care and we are working on improving the experience.

Guild mate of mine lost half their gold because they bought something, and as they closed the trading post the game crashed. It apparently made them buy 2 of the item they were purchasing because the amount missing was exactly twice the cost of what they bought. They went from nearly 24g(I think) to about 4g in less time than it takes to relaunch the game.

I heard of a situation like this today, but oddly, after a while, the gold and item balances rectified themselves. Would you let me know if that happens with your guildie?

First it I lose 1 gold over night.. no one hacked me, I was offline.. money simply gone. You cant or wont help me.. wont even find out WHY the money is missing.. then I lose 4 yellows and 4 greens to the mystic forge.. nothing given back. AGAIN no help.. at all and then almost 3 weeks later you close the ticket. Now my game crashes while I was waypointing after finishing a very tough jumping puzzle and getting my first sapphire orb. 20-25 minutes later I finally get to log back in and im half way through the puzzle, no ach for it.. no loot.. so I again finish it after only one more death and oh thanks.. the mushroom by the chest and the chest are already looted and I cannot interact with them. I think MAYBE the orb is in the bank where I sent it…. NOPE! its gone and of course you all refuse to compensate for game flaws. How is this a way to treat your faithful customers?!?!?! You NEED to give items back to those that lose them.. we need every silver right now in the early stages of the game. We deserve this much.

I am concerned that you have lost items again and again. As you know, we cannot spawn items and therefore can’t simply hand over whatever you’ve lost. Even while I know that would be very satisfying from your viewpoint, it would be devastating to the game economy to generate a bunch of replacement items. Too, we cannot see that this is happening, we cannot track where the items are going, and it seems to be happening too often to be a game glitch.

I believe that someone may have access to your account who is letting you play and then “harvesting” your items. I believe you may have a Trojan or a keylogger and that is how the person is accessing your account, even if you change your password.

That’s really the only answer I can give to repeated disappearance of items, especially when we’re not hearing about this from anyone else.

I’m sorry for the situation, but I do believe this is something we cannot address. And I’m glad that you found the items were back in your latest incident.

Info for you: The team is still trying to figure out the best time to make a distribution of missing or accidentally-deleted DDE/CE items. They intend to make some game changes that will prevent this from happening to people in the future. There will be another distribution, but I’m not sure whether that will happen before the design change is in place, or whether the team will wait and do a final distribution after the situation is fully resolved.

I’m sorry I don’t know more, but it’s actively under discussion and your ticket numbers are being gathered.

Ticket submitted 25th August, still awaiting solution: 120825-035702

Received 2 responses from the Support Team, first on 25/08/2012 04:19 PM and the second on 29/08/2012 03:13 AM . Total silence since then, ticket was auto-closed on 10th Sept., followed by an email asking me to confirm if I still needed help. I clicked the link in the email and did indeed confirm I still needed help.

Still being deafened by the silence from the Guild Wars Support Team. After 21 days I’ve pretty much run out of patience!

I posted the above on the 15th Sept., now it’s the 17th Sept and still zero response! Without a doubt this is the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced!

Third time posting in this thread! I get a very strong feeling that I’m just being ignored! It’s now 24 days since I submitted my ticket and 20 days since my ticket received a response from anyone at ArenaNet!

I did receive the following reply from GaileGray 8 days ago in another thread (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/11-Day-Ticket-Closed-No-response-Reason/first#post98893):

I’ve had my email client open since I read your post in another thread about the email being sent out and it actually arrived about 5 minutes ago in my Inbox! I’ve clicked the link and clicked on the “Yes I still need help” button. Ticket number is 120825-035702.

That was because my ticket was auto-closed and I subsequently received an email asking if I still needed help with my issue! Despite clicking the link in the email and confirming that I still need help, my ticket hasn’t received any further response from the Support Team!

I added this to my review list on Sunday, and I believe that two or three agents are helping me with that list today, so I do expect to hear tonight (or tomorrow at the latest). And you know what? That isn’t quite the whole picture, so I’m going to clarify a bit. (Yes, I’m necro-posting, but y’all will forgive, right? )

Technically, it’s against the current Guild Wars 2 Content Terms of Use for people to make money through such things as monetizing a Guild Wars 2 video. However, we support people sharing their experiences with our game. (Heck, we <3 people doing that!) So while we want to do the right thing and accurately relay what the CToU says — because that’s often the question — we do not take action when fan sites support themselves via ads, and we don’t take action when the creators of fan videos place ads. In other words, we do not flag such videos.

That’s “The Greater Good”, I toned down the number of bandits that spawn in the quest, testing it now for the 10/1 update. I suspect the count is fairly high because you can pick up a lot of Seraph helpers as you go, but this is too early to be too hard I think.

Hi Rumbowy,

There are a couple of things that could be causing this issue and so I have two steps that I would like for you to try in order to resolve this issue.

The theory is that the root certs on your computers are not up to date. Follow these steps to update them:

1. Close the game client.
2. Download and run http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/rootsupd.exe

3. You’ll probably have to click ‘run’ or ‘allow’ a couple times, but after that, nothing will appear. But that’s OK, your root certs have now been updated.

4. Open the game client and try to access the trading post.

If you haven’t been able to load the trading post at all, try these steps. If this works for you, I’ll ask our customer service team to write up more formal documentation on this procedure.

Next, I would like for you to clear your web cache. Note, by following these instructions you will lose at least your graphics settings and have to set them up again:

1. Close the game client.

2. Delete the local.dat file located in Documents\Guild Wars 2\local.dat

3. Open the game client.

Hi Dato,

I would like to rule out the possibility that there is another program interfering with the game connection. To do this, we use a Windows command called “MSCONFIG.”

Please note, this command will not uninstall any applications from your computer. All MSCONFIG does is prevent these applications from automatically starting when Windows boots up.

To do this:

1. Press and hold the Windows key and then hit the R key. This should bring up the Run dialog box.

2. Type “MSCONFIG” without the quotes, and click “OK.” This should open the System Configuration Utility.

3. Click on the “Services” tab and check the “Hide All Microsoft Services” check box near the bottom, then click the “Disable All” button. (You MUST click “Hide all Microsoft Services”)

4. Next go to the “Startup” tab and click the “Disable All” button.

5. Once these items are all disabled, click the “OK” button and you will get a prompt to restart your computer. Please restart your computer.

6. Once you return to Windows, please try connecting to the game again. If your issue is not resolved by using MSCONFIG, please generate a new Game Advisor report prior to disabling MSCONFIG. That way, we can see what, if anything wasn’t disabled by these steps.

To reverse these settings, simply run MSCONFIG again and click “Normal Startup” on the first window labeled “General.”

Note: If you need a specific application to run with Windows but still want to use MSCONFIG, just follow the above instructions and on step 4, re-check any application you feel needs to start with Windows. Examples would be wireless connection software, mouse or keyboard applications or even security applications. Please note that security applications can often be a contributing factor to such issues. If you haven’t done so already, please also disable any Anti-virus, Firewall or other security applications for testing purposes.

Hi all – as Creature as pointed out, this is in fact correct. If you are below the minimum specs by a significant amount the installation will basically “quit” on you and it usually seems to be around the 10,000kb mark (give or take a few hundred files) and close itself out without any error message.

If your graphics card is barely under the minimum requirements but you’re experiencing this issue, I would highly recommend updating to the latest graphics drivers.

I wasn’t quick enough for Monday’s update, but the 10/1 update will have the following adjustments to “Defending the Keep”
- Slowed down undead horde
- Increased range of arrow carts
- Undead should no longer automatically follow the player no matter where he/she goes
