[Spoiler] So when you first saw the end boss for HoT...
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

What was your reaction?
Mine was, “Wow… He’s gotta lay off the buckets of fried chicken.”
How about the dragon bash and shattered wings? And the molten jet pack can actually act as a jet pack…
This is like the loot cave…
I think this is related to the poison resistance mastery. It’s the 4th one in the Itzel line, I think? Try leveling that and then coming back to it.
….Are you kittening serious? I have to grind a mastery to swallow this poison bacon for 10 hero points?! Who’s idea was this!?
This is kinda ridiculous. Am I supposed to get someone to heal me as I choke this down?!
Has anyone seen a noticeable drop rate of the keys? Or is it safe for me to assume they just increased it by .001% for the sake of saying it was increased?
Well the problem with doing that is that you can’t have horns or a halo when you wear a wardrobe because, well, they’ d be taking up the wardrobe spot.
Like say doing deliveries, catching purse snatchers, tracking down lost children, etc…
I would’ve really liked to simply have a bundle plan involving the bank and bag tabs. I don’t like spending money on things that are cosmetic. Is this deal worth it? What do you all think?
Because they become part of the meta and requirements for elitists to exploit instead of purely showing achievement.
Then lets not have the buffs have stat increases and give it in an aoe. Only personal karma, magic find or gold find buffs and have them increase as you get the higher tier titles. I know there are boosters, but if you played that long and worked that hard to get them, I’d say think you’ve supported the game long enough to earn it.
(edited by AVM.5746)
For example:
Golden: +5% gold
Dungeon Master: +3% defense
Faithful: +10% exp (600 radius)
Hero of Lions Arch: +10% Karma
Doesn’t have to be all titles or these numbers I’m showing. I’d just think this would offer a better incentive to earn titles and choose which one you wanna show. Cause right now, I personally don’t think they practically do anything.
How about the ability to let them teleport to your side at any time? Like an unlimited teleport to friend? I remember ragnarok online doin that with their marriage system.
Can’t we sticky this?
Would you allow him/her? Or would you stand by Trahearne? Why?
I’m glad they indicated they “sold” units, not “shipped” them.
Female Fallout 4 PC = Ellen Kiel
Destiny Ghost = Male Human
They will be my reminder to come back when I’m done playing through them this year.
(…Well, maybe not for Destiny. I’m not falling for that again.)
Any info on how much memory HoT is gonna be at least? I really cringe on digital only with high memory requirements nowadays, especially when certain service providers have low monthly limits.
By alignment, I mean how your character deals with situations: Force, Charm, and Charisma.
To me, this didn’t really matter in creating your character because in every cutscene you have this personality that’s premade.
For example, this is how I would react to Magister Sieran:
Charm: Wild and fearless… We’re gonna get along fine.
Charisma: Working with you will be be an experience.
Force: You a crazy kitten! You’re gonna get me killed!
On top of that, there’s hardly any practicality; Your alignment hardly makes any dramatic changes during your personal story nor does it add any bonus to you while in PvE mode. It just opens up new conversations to get interesting info, but nothing else. Other games I’ve seen give stat bonuses or penalties depending on which alignment you’re taking (e.g. Jade Empire, Dragon Age 2, Divinity Original Sin, Mass Effect, Neverwinter…) and changes the plot route dramatically.
I personally think ANET should take a second look at the alignment system and see if they could build more upon it. This could bring out deeper custom features; players could customize their characters’ personality, and not just their physical appearance. For instance, if I’m more of a forceful character, I’d like my character to give more aggressive shouts while fighting. If i was more charming, I’d be trolling my foes with mischievous and playful name-calling.

Cause I’m thinking any game that’s released a few months after that date is asking for a death sentence…
(Or at least a reduction of maximum potential…)

Or are they still all using sketches and paintings?
Regardless I feel the tools can be streamlined with the right coding: IF node is 0 then stop animation. I believe this this could make things smoother just by hitting once and that’s it. No need to keep hitting activate every 3 hits.
buy an unlimited use harvesting tool… problem solved.
No it doesn’t.You still have to cancel after the node is used up to get out of the animation, lower levels can’t use the unlimited ones, and there’s still the problem of wasting charges on the rare harvesting tools with limited charges.
(edited by AVM.5746)
Can we make the harvesting tools keep harvesting and end until THE LAST resource is mined, and not just 3 at a time? Cause I’m really not liking how you can waste a few charges if you, say, had a node with 4 hits. I know you could cancel right before hit, but that’s still plain annoying a possible waste of rare harvesting tool charges.
That’s what I imagined for the upgrade with existing players…
My happy place suddenly became rainy with thunder clouds.
You know those exotic chests that you can get from the daily where you can then choose which class gear you can get? I have a few of those saved up and wondering if the revenant class will be added to the list once the expansion hits.
I’m really curious Anet… Did you type that yourself or have the censoring do it for you?
Like “bubbles” for the water dragon, I think the community has named them “Destiny Edge 2.0” for now.
Well, if you guys make a loud enough freak out before any possibility I’m sure if any plans of her demise were designed, they can always be thwarted if given enough volume. That’s how soap operas work, generally when someone gets written off the show or killed its not because they want the story to go that route but more of the fact that it is strictly production business factors that determine the fate of the characters.
If people rally in protection of a beloved character, that character will get protected.
Marjory is a prime example.
Yes… but this is not a soap opera; they are not making things up (at least not most of it) just for the sake of having a continued story. I’m sure they planned many things before they even began the living story. The sylavari being revealed minions are one example. Also I believe it would be a case by case basis if a favorite character will survive based on fan response. I mean take Breaking Bad for example: Jesse was originally going to die early in the series, but the director kept him because Aaron Paul was a great actor. In contrast, a lot of people liked Mike, and he was an outstanding actor too, but they still killed him off because it brought the plot along to a turning point.
My guess, Ellen Kiel. I’m thinking she wants to prevent anything that could endanger lions arch. However due to her position, she can’t be seen using espionage or dirty tactics that could implicate the city.
I quite remember a picture of its knife in her lair, and figured the marionette was actually some extention to utilize it in some way. Sadly, she never uses the marionette during her attack on lions arch or anything after that.
Just a guess, but I’m seeing this cliche build up: Child hates parent… and just when parent and son get along, parent dies.
…add also the the fact that guardians (which is Braham’s class) will get longbows, and Eir uses a longbow…
And Jory (a necromancer) got her dead sister’s greatsword…
Okay, y’all see where I’m going with this?
[EDIT]
…and five months later.
BOOYAH!

“Ah, yes. Reapers…” V-_-V
Just hear me out… The reaper trailer was awesome and all. But didn’t it strike anyone odd that there was not one drop of blood (or even an impact effect) when that guy was swinging that huge sword at those guys?
Okay, I know the term “good” can be ambiguous, but just hear me out on this. I’m pretty sure I wasn’t the only one that was disappointed in the Zhaitan fight. I mean you worked all those story missions and traveled all the way to orr to engage in a battle that meant spamming “2” for three minutes (or whatever you hotkeyed the trigger at the time).
Sure it was “pretty” to watch, but it was TOO EASY and a big slap in the face, considering how difficult some of of his minions were. There are arguments justifying, "Well Zhaitan was basically a necromancer. And Necroes are not generally stronger than his minions. " That’s not the case I’m trying to say here, I’m saying “boss battles,” not lore logic.
What I feel, is that a final boss battle should include the culmination of all the skills you’ve learned up to that point. And if you don’t apply them, you fail. It shouldn’t just be a fancy cinematic mixed with so little action that even a new guy can do it. SERIOUSLY! I really feel that a level 1 newbie could have killed Zhaitan! I mean all he’d have to do is sit at the cannon and press the button right?
Have you ever fought a disappointing boss? Or been a situation where it was even missing a boss battle? What do you all think? I personally think its not just about the visuals and storyline, but it’s also got to include your peak skills and experience.
: The boss battle should satisfying both as a game and visual story.
He is talking about relative value.
For example: my character spends 1g on a weapon. For her (at the moment), this is 1/15th of her total net worth. She can, by Tyrian standards, be considered “middle class”. So how “valuable” is 1g to Earth standards? Well, I dunno about you, but 1/15th of my net value is several thousand bucks (I’m middle class too, kinda). So buying a 1g bow in Tyria would be like buying a brand new assault rifle in real life (they can cost up to $4000, easily).
Buying a legendary would be like buying the ancient sword of a real life Japanese Emperor, which will cost you a few million $ at least.
Relative value. Thank you, I just couldn’t find the right term. Though I dont think it would be accurate to use the TP to figure out relative value because the prices are dependant on OUR world (game market) nstead of the current economic lore of Tyria. For instance, that mission where your going to infiltrate the mouth of Zhatain, this charr makes a friendly bet of 50 gold. Now think about that, if 1g is several thousand bucks, would you really bet like that? That charr could’ve been millionaire, but I really doubt that. That’s why I feel 1g is like $50-$100 compared to us.
This year, and the prizes, feel rather bland. What happened to the candy? Though they had lower duration, you could get mounds of them and their buffs were strong. On top of that, the backpiece prizes feel like cheap toys from the one dollar store compared to the holo and shatterer wings…
If there will be new legendary weapons coming in the expansion, will there be whole new set of precursors or will some current exotics suddenly become one? Right now, I’m gonna hold tightly to some of the exotics I’ve earned through bags till I know for sure…
My assumption based on lore;
1 copper = 1 dollar
1 silver = 20 dollars
1 gold = 100 dollars
This is prob a bad guess on my part, but I’m comparing on things I see. Like the cost of food items from npc, and that time Braham bawled on paying a waypoint fee…

I’m hoping there will be at least one new dungeon, cause I’m getting pretty burnt out with current ones for the past 3 years. If it’ll utilize the mastery skills, that would be even greater. Those hang gliding and mushroom jumping skills have some potential; it could be like the dungeons from zelda.
(edited by AVM.5746)
Hmm, I think i know him… Did he also play as that one guy in Destiny pvp?
So what’s everyone’s natural magic find without buffs?
Since implementation I’m at 160%.
I wouldn’t mind something like from Dark Souls 2, where you can opt to be one of the Mirror Knight’s minions.
Ya know, I had this dream once where I was fighting the Shatterer. We were doing the usual: Everyone was gathered on that one spot to the right of him and 4 people were on the cannons. It was going routine as always…
…But then something weird happened when he got to half health.
He flew up into the air, kinda floated there awhile, and suddenly broke apart into those black crystal shards. It was like a scene from Transformers: Parts of his body moved around and shifted and he suddenly transformed into a humanoid black knight with a big-kitten sword, shield and glowing purple eye.
Now before we could all say, “What the hell is that!?” This black juggernaut shoots a purple beam from it’s eye which sweeps across the four cannons and blows them up in a wall of fire. We didn’t have time to react to that loss when he suddenly shot his laser at us, killing a large group of players who didn’t dodge and move at the time.
Those who were fortunate to evade, proceeded to shoot and hack away at him… only to realize our damage was being severely reduced. Apparently, this kitten had traded its mobility for increased armor and firepower.
After dodging and evading it’s circle aoe stomps, massive shield bashes that sent shock waves of our troops flying across the map, line aoe sword slams that killed anyone in one hit (and not to mention that sweeping purple laser of death from its eye) one of us finally thought out loud, “Maybe we should to get those cannons fixed?”
So a few of us and I went to the cannons, did a lengthy repair on them (while being spammed by a few minions) and loaded incendiary and concussions shots. The incendiary shots apparently weakened his armor allowing the fighting group to do more damage, while the concussions shots stunned him at times giving windows of attack opportunity.
After a lot more concussions shots, this black juggernaut suddenly fell to its knee, exposing his purple eye which became lockable. We then closed in, attacked its eye, doing tremendous amount of damage!
…But just as his health entered 5 percent, he suddenly stabs his sword into the ground, knocking all of us away in a massive shockwave, stands up and sweeps his death ray at the cannons in retaliation. They’re once again destroyed in a wall of purple fire…
…and that’s when I woke up.

Oh, there are many that I find tons of fun. I’ll riff on yours, though — did you follow those two NPCs back after they ditch the kegs? You get some Gilbert and Sullivan!
Seriously? I’ll check that out then~!
To me it was that escort in blood tide that had you looking for artifacts, but ended with finding two barrels of ale. …Which were dropped by the npcs of a totally different event earlier.
Currently, every time we see someone teleport to a wp or logout they simply disappear. I think it would be more immersive if they disappeared in a flash of light similar to when you discover a new waypoint; seeing a bunch of people porting away after a public event would be a sight to see. This thought came to me when I watched the ending of the dragons dogma online trailer and a few SAO episodes. It looked both immersive to the lore and cool looking, Why couldn’t we do this?
Here’s a solution to your gold problem; dungeons. If you and 3 of your friends all do the 3Ascalon catacombs paths, it’ll net you each 4.5 gold. If you all then pool that together, that’ll net you about 18 gold, which is a little over 100 gems. That’ll help you get one path open for one of you, the rest can then join in (you can do that once a day). Technically the living story isn’t behind a paywall, it’s just that you either EARN it or PAY for it. Earning it is not that hard however; Gold is pretty easy to get now ever since exp dungeon paths reward at least 1g.

Ok, it’s DA3… But they’re giving away the sheet music! So someone get on the bells, flute, harp or whatever you bought on TP and start playing this in LA.
Now!
RIGHT NOW!
Some people may not want to get the expansion right away, so will that conflict with future living story content? Basically will the expansion be required for future living story participation and awards?
