Make power necro viable

I don’t see the need of that. Power necro is in decent place in dungeon and probably the easiest build in game for HoT. Every classes have builds that isn’t perfect. Condi war is worse. Condi guard is worse. Yes, in utopia, everything is balanced and nice. But this isn’t. We have a viable build for raid and another viable build for dungeon/open world. Yes, build changing sucks in this game but it is what it is.

This change really isn’t as much of a nerf as you make it out to be. In fact, if you actually put some effort into your skill rotation you will be able to surpass the damage of the old trait.
Also, nothing is easier to cleanse now. Chilled is still there, the damage part just moved to a different condition, one that is applied a lot more frequently now. So if anything, you get better coverage for your overall condition pressure.

And let’s be honest, the strongest part about chilled wasn’t the damage anyway. It’s the movement impairment and the tripled cooldowns, which still works the same.

You have ZERO idea of the scope of this change. “Put some effort into your skill rotation” What? You want me to spam 1 more and apply more bleeding? Yeah, no thanks I dropped reaper and picked up Dhuumfire already and that last part you mentioned ONLY APPLIES IN PvP – I don’t know how many people Anet thinks ACTUALLY PvP, but for me? I could give a rats kitten .

This change is DETRIMENTAL to the way Condimancer played in the raid setting – need I emphasis the raid part?

You clearly need some chill.

Why? I’m annoyed and for what was otherwise a decent patch Engineers and Necromancer’s had to suck up the sap this patch for what reasons? PvP? That’s a lame reason, a super lame reason.

And any PvE condimancer worth their salt would be mad about this change, forget mad utterally decimated.

As long as they don’t split pvp/pve, this kind of balance will happen.

While I agree it is overnerfed and it feels like an adept trait, I’m not tilted. It is not the end of the world and I have more important things to worry about.

3) DD is one of the best skills imo. And really even with full zerker, you won’t have much issue surviving. Things just die so fast.

minions, easy self might, vuln, gravedigger, well aoe, strong cc.

staff ele isn’t good for soloing I found. mobs just move too much. And you can’t just run in like a necro. I recommend fresh air overload for solo.

Reaper: Better=power or condition damage?

Hi. Someone said that Blood (sugar, sex) Magic doesn’t work well with condi Necro. Well, in my opinion it’s better than reaper and spite. If u run S/D there’s no need to use Locust Signet or Rune of Speed for fast movement – you have Quickening Thirst. Mark of Evasion deals also nice bleeding damage, in pvp Last Rites and Unholy Martyr/Transfussion can be useful. Eventually your teammates will enjoy vampiric aura (personally – I never notice this effect)

Blood Magic gives very, very little to Condi builds. S/D applies damage procs quite slowly so you don’t see good benefit from Vampirism procs. Mark of Evasion is ok, but it’s not as good as either extra Might and Vuln from Spite or the extra Chill and Chill damage from Reaper, plus Reaper gives you access to shouts. If you want to give more support, Blood Magic isn’t a bad way to do it, but Vuln and Chill application are both also quite helpful to most teams. In terms of damage, though, there’s no reason to take Blood as a condi Necro.

And I expect nerf for elite trait lines – immoblizing druid and power reaper are just insane

Much as I enjoy certain Elite lines, their power level is indeed pretty out of hand right now.

Are we talking raid here or else where? Because outside raid, I don’t see any point to run death.

Curse is a must for condi. Reaper has chill, crit chance, copter. I think these two are must.

That leaves blood, spite, SR.

spite has might but it comes mostly from ds1 which condi necro doesn’t use much. That leaves spite with vuln. It sounds good on paper but vuln is on every weapon’s AA already. Chill of Death/Close to death also work worse with condi than power because of how little time foes stay <50% (oh and damage modifier).

Blood traits are more universal, always working. It is rather weak on its own but less situational.

SR, well, condi necro doesn’t use that much shroud so….

How is Necro/Reaper for PVE now?

Super good self-sustain. Group support is probably still meh but with open world being such a huge part of HoT, I think necro is pretty good. Plus it’s good breaking bar.

i will see how reaper in raid plays out.

Oh, really? Welp, that’s pretty sad.

Why sad? I’m all for more build variety. That’s what condition is designed for in the first place, armor ignoring damage for high toughness bosses. That said, lengthening the boss fight does not make it challenging so they need to fix it so that when using the most optimal gear, the fight should not take more time than it is before.

It’s sad because before you had conditions + direct damage which was viable. I’m going as far as saying that even gear with some passive defense had certain value if you were new/not good at the game to not immediately die if you mess up. Now it’s what? Damage is so low it tickles you even if you don’t run any passive defense and direct damage is horrible. It forces every class to run conditions, even if they’re bad at it, how does that push build variety? It KILLS every kind of build variety you could have.

They need to change it by fractal. Different levels to have different properties. High vs low toughness ratio. Sustain, hard to avoid low damage vs hard hitting spiky damage. etc, etc.

All it does is push the current mono-stat meta into a different mono-stat meta. The meta is still just as stale. If some bosses had high Vitality but low Toughness and others had low Toughness and high Vitality, that might lead to some variety, but then you’d just force people into going in with two armor sets for optimum performance and switching between them as appropriate. The fights would still be no more dynamic.

Different builds need different approach. It is difficult to make one single encounter to fit all playstyles. The toughness/health ratio change helps bringing more condition into play and I welcome that effort. It is NOT perfect but it’s a step to the right direction. Yes it is changing a 1-stat meta to a 2-stats meta, still better than 1. Don’t forget conditions still do kitten against some encounters so it’s not 100% perfect.

Goes back to the toughness change. Lifesteal could see the light if given some change too so there’s another possibility.

Again I don’t agree with the new fractal boss fight length so that’d need some adjustments. One or two “husk” bosses in fractal, I don’t mind but not all. In fact I don’t really like the new fractal in general because of the boring instability, reward & length. For other builds though, new encounter is probably needed to make them variable.

Infact: don’t. In higher level fractals mobs hits very hard so you need survivability. However, as stated in the past, a Cavalier/Zerk/Knight or variance with Valkyrie et simila, provides all the survivability you need without sacrificing too much damage. For condition builds Rabid or Dire works pretty well. I run Rabid, for example.

I haven’t done much fractal since HoT but from what I heard of the boss damage is even lower than 50 pre-HoT. And from experience in 50s they indeed became bigger hp-sponge. So I’d say just berserker. Or sinister.

after playing for awhile now ive found the reaper to be almost utterly useless in wvw and pvp, it is slow kitable and easily avoidable, I love what they tried to do but for me its a huge miss considering I look at wvw as endgame, if you want to play the new OP “must buy xpack” class then go for the rev hammer thrower. Ive played over 5000 hours on necro and to be ballparked into an even slower and dumber spec that everyone can run from and laugh at has just about drawn the last straw for me.

wouldn’t chill be good for frontline with soft CC? Need stab from ally but I imagine it to be a nice addition to the hard CC train. What am i missing

It will immediately get cleansed from all the group cleansing flying around. And without BB from allies now we can’t sustain ourselves in the Zerg as a front liner.

but chill doesn’t stay long in the first place so cleanse shouldn’t be too much of a problem? Sad that I don’t have a hardcore wvw guild now I can’t test it. Also I want to try the new vigilant stats.

the old 50 has around 10% from my experience.

If I have to get more AR to get the same reward, i am not sure if I want to play that even though there’s only 1 fractal per level now.

Explain to me why a condition build should have critical chance?
At the moment I prefer Condition, Toughness and Healing.
There are a lot of better option than condition, Precision and Toughness at the moment.

Beacause you crit you make more bleed……doing more damage…
barbed precision is probably one of the most important trait for condi build.

idk which game mode you are talking about but healing is useless in pve and I’ll just get water blast from allies in wvw.

That works for gravedigger PVE, my largest hit was 40k on a legendary wyvern. Surprised me as well, but I suppose.. perfect conditions.

Would really want gravedigger to crit. Tested Valk+berserker & decimate defenses in BWE, the crit chance outside RS feels around 50%. Now I’m running full berserker and it feels like 80%+ in most situation. (edit: in solo)

All weapons have a place imo. ideally you probably want D/W because of the lifeforce and while I don’t know the real number, WH’s daze seems to be the strongest against breakbar compare to other CC.

Realistically not everyone dodge 100% and would want some range. Staff and axe comes in. I personally still hate axe……

I asked on reddit but so far no one can give me a clear answer. Does the reward get “good” with mastery lvl3? By good I mean comparable to old chest, you know, solid reward like gold and RNG like ascended/skin.

My casual guild lost quite a bit of interest on fractal now. They ain’t meta but we run 38 every other day. Some do run 50. I’m not sure if I should encourage some of them to get AR up now if the reward stays flat across the levels.

LF and DS just don’t feel right in GW2. Unlike GW1, enemies are just too few for LF generation. Then they give skills LF but it now feels more like adrenaline except slower gain. The slow build up makes you expect something powerful but it just replaces your skill bar with 5 mediocre skills that aren’t particularly powerful and most importantly, rewarding. They are just as good as the weapon skills. It would make sense for the skills to be just like another weapon set if we can camp DS 24/7, have sustainable LF regen inside and have LF replaced our hp completely but it doesn’t work like that. For most build it becomes a dps drop if you camp in DS for too long and losses all the utilities. And those so called DS builds spend half the time outside to just to gain LF. Turns out DS is nothing but a secondary health bar.

Reaper probably won’t change that for a bit.

The Mystery Cave - Impossible to Solo?

The 3 achievements: Rock, the shadow, set bomb are easy to do one at a time. It’s harder to get all at the same time. The nice thing is you can repeat with the challenge moot quickly.

Sometimes it is hard to kill the shadow and set off every bomb at the same time because the fire can spawn overlapping one of the bombs. In the pirority of killing the shadow, you have to set off one set of bomb then immediately get the fire to kill shadow. Otherwise the fire will despawn after you’ve set off every bomb and you won’t be able to kill the shadow in time.

Another thing is the orange circle of dragon’s hand always appears twice, one after another so when you dodge the first one, don’t stop, don’t go straight to light the fire because the other one will sure spawn. Instead, take a small deroute to “waste” that second aoe then you have some free time to light the fire without having to worry about knockdown.

Achievements mandatory for Lumi armor - BUG?

but 4 of them you have to first finish all achievements in LW2 chapters 5-8… and AFTERWARD these jewelery pieces become available at merchant.

They are rewarded to you for finishing the achievements. You don’t have to buy them

My only slight problem with it is the two amulets. I’ll just give one to alt.

Other than that, I love these achievements. The story ones give good reward (pink gear) instead of crappy achievement points. The lumi requires you to run breach/VW, event for crests but not that grindy. When you collect all lumi parts there’s ascended chest as well.

idk the state of pvp necro but for condi necro I don’t see much reason to go soul reaping in pve. Unless running terror then MAYBE. Other than that death shroud/soul reaping and condi just don’t mix very well.

They either have to make Dhuumfire very powerful, so powerful that players would consider taking the soul reaping line just for one trait. Or they have to twist up some of the other soul reaping traits so taking that line would not become a huge loss.

For pvp, I think it’s much simplier. Death shroud is much more useful there so soul reaping line isn’t useless. The current problem is now it has to compete against FitG so I think a slight buff for dhuumfire is enough to make it more desirable.

I should really try to complete the map, at about 52% now.

As for builds, I’ve played around with using a scepter/dagger and focus for about 30 or more levels for a condition build but it seems most folks tend to look down on Necros who use conditions so I’m playing around now with Araskell’s build that he posted earlier.

one little advice, never use condition build for map completion,

why? some heart quest require you to hit structures which will be taking forever with condi build (assuming you are using rabid, not carrion or sinister)

if you are using rabid, trust me, even green zerker equipment does it faster…i already tried that… T_T

Condi necro is very good in open world, compare to non zerker power builds. When you can’t just burst down everything with zerker, you better have good cc and that’s where condi necro shines.

It’s a bug and has been reported before. The pointer normally points you to a nearby portal leading to the correct destination. For some reason the pointer thinks that place is a portal and is trying to send you there. Try looking at your map to find the end place (marked by a green starburst) and go there instead,

The star marks the halloween place. After I went to silverwaste it corrected itself.

That’s probably a bug. There’s sometimes event markers in cities although there’s no event there.

Tracking the Aspect Masters is done in the Silverwastes. Travel there and enable story for the content guide. The pointer should work better.

I’ll try tonight. The pointer is at the Halloween mini dungeon, you know the place to kill the prince. It could be more than a bug that affects me because last night someone was also wandering around there and not knowing how to get in.

980Ti/Fury X performance for world boss/WvW

I Have an MSI GTX 960 Gaming 2GB and get 100+ fps during normal map group/dungeon/sPvP, but get in a WvW zurg or world boss, and it drops to around 57 fps. I have a i5 4690K(@3.90), 8GB HyperX Savage. So a GTX 980Ti would be over kill for GW2. As others have said, CPU is the bottle neck. Untill the game has a 64 bit client, most up-to-date PC’s will struggle.

Well then I guess good guy Anet saved me some money from upgrading the GPU.

Frame rate drops in boss battles have more to do with CPU performance than GPU.

Because of draw calls or all the damage calculations?

If I lower the graphic settings (for large scale battle), I can get smoother fps. That makes me think it to be more of a graphic problem. Of course the graphic can also be CPU-bound due to draw calls but I’m not very sure about it.

I use the same i5 3570k overclocked like yours. There isn’t many better ones up there. The haswell one is better but only so much…..

Does anyone have these cards? Can it max the setting during world boss/wvw? I’m using 1080p60 now but might upgrade to 140hz/1440/4k in the future, I know it sounds overkill for my current monitor but world boss/wvw have intensive graphics.

I believe it’s GPU bound at that point because I get smooth fps with mid/low settings. Unless it’s bounded by draw calls issued by CPU.

As for mitigation, aegis vigor buffs, some classes are better than others at handling conditions for their team.
Like a Mesmer with the Temporal Enchanter trait.

Aegis, Vigor, Protection, Retaliation (and ofc dodge) are more for direct damage protection. Some classes get more of these boons.

Mean while some classes have Resistance, Berserker stance, condition transfer, cleanse.
I think it’s fair.

I think overall the changes are good to necro. However compare to other classes it’s underwhelming. Yesterday I was messing with my ele and found out spaming 1111111111 gives you 25stack of might…..
